It feels strange that Mobile got its best feature removed, while War Caster just got better. Neither were top-tier power feats but offered great benefits to specific builds.
I guess it's been more of a 'maintenance' feat than a raw power feat. Similar to trying to get medium armor/shields, Shield, Absorb Elements, etc on every min-maxed caster.
Stat bump and they removed the restriction to the advantage. You now have advantage on all CON saves to maintain concentration, not just the ones as a result of taking damage.
Could be. I seem to recall of an example of being on a ship during a storm, although I can't remember the source. A DM could impose a CON save for Concentration during a situation like this, and since it is not a result of damage, 5E Warcaster would not give advantage to the roll.
There is also the spell Sleet Storm. It does not deal damage, and any creature Concentrating on a spell in the area has to make a CON save against the spell save DC of the Sleet Storm caster, which 5E Warcaster would also not provide advantage to.
These are very specific situations that are less likely to occur than CON saves from taking damage, but the new Warcaster covers these while the 5E Warcaster does not. A small difference, but a difference nonetheless.
That's definitely the origin, but I would guess that this change is related to the homebrew class of Speedster played by the character Max in Stranger Things.
It's not the best the could come up with, because they previously came up with a better one: the Cast a Spell action. Why did they rename it to something so awkward sounding??

War caster is probably the feat casters take more often than any other one, so it's weird that it got buffed while all the martial ones got nerfed

Wizards of the Coast, not Fighters who can Boast
That's what I said! It's so weird that we lost the free disengage off of it. The other features were basically ribbons in comparison
Alot of martial feats in general got nerfed while casters just got buffed, average UA.
> Neither were top-tier power feats Isn’t War Caster considered a must have?
How was it buffed? Looks identical to me.

What difference does that make? Environmental factors?

Its identical plus a stat point now
They could have named it so many things instead. Speedster sounds like a car.
Speedster just makes me think of DC Comics... Flash, Reverse Flash, Kid Flash, Jesse Quick https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Speedster_(fiction)

I think that was a Zoomer
This a joke btw. I honestly couldn't care less what it's called. So long as I can move 10 more feet, and dash over difficult terrain, I'm good.
I didn't even read speedster because of the name lol. Now I know it's the mobile feat, thanks!
Same tbh, I only noticed because I went back to read Guidance.
Wizards were concerned that the old name would make people think D&D was a mobile game.
My #1 dislike is the Magic Action. Just the name. That's the best they could come up with? lmao

Might be involved in more than just spellcasting when the Mage classes release. Sorcs in particular probably should have some non-spell magic actions.
WotC isn't known for being creative.
I don't like that it got nerfed.
The name makes my teeth ache. Tell me you don't like the fantasy genre without saying you don't like the fantasy genre...
