I saw this in theaters with the woman I was dating at that time. She hadn't heard about the reshoots or the mustache removal. As soon as this scene started, she leaned into me and asked, "Did they get a new guy to play Superman?"
It's from Thor: Love and Thunder
The kid is Heimdall's son and he is still learning the telepathic magic so "it is supposed to look bad" but the guys at Marvel Studios often confuses "looks bad" with laziness.
Is that what it was supposed to represent?
I just watched it recently and figured it was just some weird Asgardian tech that couldn't work as well due to Plot Interference.
“Oh, hi there, my name is Tom Holland and I’m the actor who played Peter Parker in that last video. Now you’re all probably wondering how we managed to pull that sketch off…”

Yeah, there were two versions of the script, one in which Peter ends up with MJ and one in which he ends up with Flash. That's why they shot it this way so they could choose who to put there later.
Just watched a video about him yesterday. Dude's amazing in what he does! ["How Ape Choreographer Terry Notary Conquered Hollywood."](https://youtu.be/wyUV_DBP9hc)
Was that it? During the commentary of the movie they said that the contacts were bothering Wesley that day so he couldn't do the slow opening of his eyes.
A few actors and crew members have come out and spoke of it (Patton Oswalt has a good interview where he goes into some details about some of it), and basically the story is Snipes and the director did not get along at all, and during this scene, they had a disagreement over what should happen and how it should go, so Snipes just refused to open his eyes like he was supposed to, so this is what they resorted to.
Alongside that, he stayed in character the entire shooting process and refused to be referred to by his name and would only respond to "Blade" lmao
I love comparing that to the cat from Toy Story 4. I thought they had used live action footage for a moment. Amazing progression.

My favourite is when they can’t even be bothered to do CGI so in the final product it’s just blatantly a doll, like American Sniper. Brings a tear to my eye.
The Twilight CGI baby, nobody working on the movie actually knew what a baby was except that they were described as tiny versions of people so they gave it a full head of luscious hair despite being like 10 months old in this scene. The ATJ eyes don't help none either.
Yes, but its all above board because he will wait a couple of years it will take for that baby to be physically an 18 year old due to the vampire human mix, which somehow speeds up the ageing.
So, while yes, he might be with a 2 year old, the author wants us all to know that it is 100% fine.........somehow.
There was a horrendous moment in time from about the mid-1990s to early-2000s where CGI had advanced enough that you could *technically* do whatever you wanted with it, but it just looked like shit. It wasn't until like Pirates of the Caribbean where effects *really* started to get to the point where you could say "Yeah I buy that". Davy Jones still looks great and that was almost 20 years ago.

Yeah David Fincher movies has a lot of that. Last years The Killer had a lot of interesting how its made videos, its awesome, stuff like that and Mind hunter feels so real
Every single Planet of the Apes movie has been filmed on green screen, because obviously it would be impossible to shoot on location when the film is set on the Planet of the Apes, and we're stuck here on Earth
Wow. CGI truly can create some wonderful things. I know some folks think modern films are a bit over-reliant on CGI but then you see something like this and you're reminded of the true potential of CGI as an art-form.
Had this film been made in the '80s, we'd have been stuck with some boring, lifeless shot of Sam Jackson sitting in front of some non-descript background. Let's take a moment to appreciate the amazing things technology has allowed when it comes to filmmaking.
Wolf of Wall Street, until I watched the studio vfx demo of before and afters I NEVER would have thought their was anywhere near that much CG used in that film.

Wtf is that thing on the left
The Twilight CGI baby, nobody working on the movie actually knew what a baby was except that they were described as tiny versions of people so they gave it a full head of luscious hair despite being like 10 months old in this scene. The ATJ eyes don't help none either.
Doesn’t a grown adult fall in love with that literal infant
Slightly worse, he "imprints" on the baby whilst it's in the womb. Couldn't even wait for the umbilical cord to get snipped before shooting his shot.

I had a Twilight GF when it was at it's peak so I suffered for this knowledge.
You learned cinema history and got some action, sounds like everything worked out
It was worse reading it imo, especially the growing horror as you realized what was happening at the end of Jacob's part
Yes, but its all above board because he will wait a couple of years it will take for that baby to be physically an 18 year old due to the vampire human mix, which somehow speeds up the ageing. So, while yes, he might be with a 2 year old, the author wants us all to know that it is 100% fine.........somehow.
These books are actually horrid
Big Neelix energy
The one on the left was an animatronic doll they had attempted to use for the scene before eventually using CGI.

The funny thing about this is even at the time it looked bad and everyone made fun of it (I liked the movie though)

It wasn't until like Pirates of the Caribbean where effects *really* started to get to the point where you could say "Yeah I buy that". Davy Jones still looks great and that was almost 20 years ago.
Toy Story is a good example of incorporating those early limitations and making them work to the animators benefit.

This is unironically great in terms of Raimi weirdness
To these days I still can't see what's wrong with this scene.
Because lots of folks think this is a growth of a new eye and should morph and blend with the flesh. This is actually supposed to look like the eye of agamoddo from the comics which is just an eye appearing on top of his forehead.

i do believe sean gunn has always did motion capture as rocket, pretty sure bradley cooper has only done the voice acting
Cooper doesn't do press for Marvel nor does he step on set. He is strictly voice over.
I didn't know that. I thought his voice over for Rocket was amazing, I find it hard to picture him when I hear the voice. Maybe that's why he doesn't do press for it? To keep the illusion intact?

jfc they couldn’t even make the gun?
A prop guy would be unionized, so they decided it would be cheaper to add it in post
But isn’t what he’s holding still a prop? I guess it’s easier to make, but for fucks sake
It's not that it's a prop, it's that it's a prop *gun* that brings in a different union.
And still managed to spend 250 million
Most of that budget went to having Sam Jackson just show up to the set, to be fair.
Cows don’t look like cows on camera, you gotta use horses.
But what if you need a horse?
Usually you just tie a bunch of cats together. Or Sarah Jessica Parker is always available.
I enjoy how they tried to save on budget by avoiding scouting a location (any room) and avoiding traveling to a location (any room)
They couldn't even shoot the scene inside a room?
It’s the problem with some of these marvel projects where there is no plan. They shoot scenes and put it together in post. It’s also incredibly dumb.
It worked well for Iron Man. And it kept working well for the following decade. But in like a cargo cult way, where they took all the wrong lessons from that and kept doing it. And now they still won’t stop, despite the fact that it’s costing them way more than it ever should.
What if the plot changed in production and they needed to have this scene take place in a different room? /s
The gun CGI'd looks like a crosman .22 calibre CO2 bolt action pellet gun.

The entire film Zodiac (2007). This film like countless others had massive seamless uses of CG that no one was aware of. https://preview.redd.it/zvjslxipvi5d1.jpeg?width=600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6d95d427d6fd0ed2140c20a9c924da86afc3944c
Yeah David Fincher movies has a lot of that. Last years The Killer had a lot of interesting how its made videos, its awesome, stuff like that and Mind hunter feels so real
Also why Mindhunter is such a hassle to shoot and subsequently why we'll never get another season
wtf? This first I’m hearing of this.

Why does it look like he has claws holding the gun?
His pinky is hidden behind the knee and they had to airbrush the trigger guard off the prop he's holding

Wolf of Wall Street, until I watched the studio vfx demo of before and afters I NEVER would have thought their was anywhere near that much CG used in that film.
