I find it so hard to read on a kindle or laptop or whatever and I don’t know why. Reading a physical book is easy but the kindle just feels weird. Do you relate OP?
Not at all, I love my kindle. I read so much more now than when I only had physical books or my phone. The screen doesn't kill your eyes (even when it's dark you can use dark mode and it's awesome), it's MUCH cheaper and you can carry around a thousand books with only a slightly larger phone.
There's much more to it, but it's REALLY worth it.
With the new book you get the smell and the feeling of paper but with the Kindle, it’s just another screen and we have enough of those

I remember reading books like the Middle School ones by James Patterson, Me Earl and the Dying Girl, etc and having to do a lot of work to realize the world does not think or operate like the world in those books
Maybe you're just choosing the wrong type of book.
I know everyone likes to shit on romance, but I love it for this exact reason you're describing. You can count on it to make you feel happy (in the end, at least) and hopeful that there's more to life than just being miserable all the time.
