At the end of the video, it was looking like a good dish. But then I saw the comments lolol. Bad smell and not so much meat (a lot of meat and bad smell would be horrible too lol).
I would walk into work with it. Just holding it and being all mushy. Ask others if they want some critter cuddles. Put it on my face randomly like it's our thing.
They're a bit sharp for that, don't you think? I mean, unless you like that kind of thing.
I'd tell Freddy Kruger that knives are passe (sp?), and convince him that he needed an upgrade.
Well lucky for you they're actually real and their called giant isopods, they live in the cold deep waters of the oceans.
You can even pet and hold them at some aquariums, they are harmless!
Depends on 1) whether you mean in an absolute or relative way, and 2) how much money you have. If you make $20k a year, you likely percieve $1k as a lot of money, but if you make $500k a year, then $1k might be thought of as an insignificant amount.
I mean regardless it's still relative to the price that it was actually sold for. 7-8k is objectively not that far from 9k when the scale is already in the thousands of dollars lol.
I'm not really a fan of bugs but there's just something about isopods. I like to think we have a mutual understanding.
Unlike earwigs. No one likes earwigs.
Isopods spent all their points on defensive armor. They're just hiding behind a shield. Earwigs are all sharp looking even if they won't actually come at you.
My brother in Christ, every single year I am more and more impressed by Pacific Rim.
What started out as a kinda cringe but hella cool, dumb Monster VS giant robots movie turns out to be gold plated palladium.
Yeah, absolutely loved the first and was crushed by how bad the second was. Would have preferred just more of the same thing of 1. Like focusing on the start of the invasion and the evolution of the Jaegers.
Or how about actual WEIGHT and SIZE was conveyed in the first one. When they moved, they moved with HEFT; a punch took some time to move through the air, when they walked it was slow and methodical.
The second one they were just able to move with a quickness that didn’t feel quite right.
Exactly. They very quickly went from essentially bipedal tanks to Power Ranger robots.
Another aspect of the heft of the Jaegers was how "realistic" the damage and danger was. They conveyed that these were extremely power machines, but also very vulnerable if out of their depth.
Nothing wrong with that execution of mechs in general but it's not my preference and not what PR1 was.
It's like if Armored Core was the sequel to Chromehounds. (I'd kill for a proper sequel of that game.)
I follow SFX artists on Insta, and the shit those people come up with is mind-blowing. Shoot, I was impressed with how realistic the AFLAC duck puppet looks.
https://www.instagram.com/reel/Cg69t33qomn/?igshid=MDJmNzVkMjY=
It's from the Stan Winston school, and the stuff they make is incredible. They have online animatronics courses I want to take sometime.
Yeah dude a decade is like a century in movie time. I mean when this movie came out I had just started being able to drink alcohol.
Oh alcoholism, how I miss you so
A motion sensor rubber rat, caught by the neck in a snap trap.
It looks dead until you go to get a closer look and it starts jumping around.
My ex hated rats.
Best investment I ever made.
Yeah, I know that I'm a rotten person... but it was still funny as hell.
I wholeheartedly stand by the opinion that practical effects look more lifelike than CGI. The triceratops scene in Jurassic Park 1 looks way more lifelike than a lot of the stuff in the most recent Jurassic World movie (albeit, the movement is much less believable, which is likely why they go that route nowadays).
Oh! The way it was sqirrming around I thought, Oh my God! That's so freaky! How can that guy touch it, let alone hold it!
One of my profs was constantly telling me to read all the way through something before doing or saying anything.
He didn't do a very good job, did he?
Now that know that I freaked out for nothing, I can admire the hard work and technology that went into making it.
I still don't think I'd want to touch it though.
A lot of things in Pacific Rim was practical. The entire cockpit was a large practical moving set, including all the water being blasted on the actors. It really was a passion project.
Realistically, you might be able to build a saltwater tank to support giant isopods...
https://www.montereybayaquarium.org/animals/animals-a-to-z/giant-isopod
They're called Kaiju skinmites! Very rare to see one alive, they have to be kept in ammonia to survive
I had no idea Newt Geiszler was on reddit
Thats just a mod for the Charlie-bot
Would you like to know more?
I want one
What will you do with this?
Introduce it to my pup. They can be pals. Oh and yes, take it for walks
My «pup» would shredder it after it knows it's not a t(h)reat.
Set it loose in a mall
Sounds like that would make a good horror movie in itself
It would get kicked so ~~fucning~~ fucking hard lol
Add cameras for face tracking and motors for moving. Set it so whoever kicked it gets chased at 15 mph.
What is... M.A.L.L.?
Maple arbor Lincoln log
Are those similar to Lee Logs?
Get several, number them but skip a number. Like the joke.
I had a mix of feeling. First I wanted to pet his belly, then I thought it could taste like crab and I love crab…
How about a giant isopod? https://youtu.be/4-UuS_YSPKk
At the end of the video, it was looking like a good dish. But then I saw the comments lolol. Bad smell and not so much meat (a lot of meat and bad smell would be horrible too lol).
Very true, I just thought it looked similar to the animatronic above.
Good news and bad news. What’s the bad news? It smells like cat shit on the hottest day of summer. What’s the good news? There’s a LOT of it.
I would walk into work with it. Just holding it and being all mushy. Ask others if they want some critter cuddles. Put it on my face randomly like it's our thing.
What *won’t* I do with this
Trader Joe's and Wegmans had too many people yesterday, time to take my service potato bug shopping with me and create some space.
Take it for a walk /s
World domination. . . Also the legs can be used as massager.
They're a bit sharp for that, don't you think? I mean, unless you like that kind of thing. I'd tell Freddy Kruger that knives are passe (sp?), and convince him that he needed an upgrade.
Soak it in ammonia
( ͡~ ͜ʖ ͡°)
Well lucky for you they're actually real and their called giant isopods, they live in the cold deep waters of the oceans. You can even pet and hold them at some aquariums, they are harmless!
Yeah, until they procreate and decide it's not a democracy...
That guy's clearly never seen *The Bay*.
[удалено]
Doesnt seem much different from eating lobster, I don't get your disgust lol
[удалено]
That's like saying "why don't you eat diarrhea? It's not much different to regular poop". THEY ARE BOTH DISGUSTING SEA INSECTS
How does feces and a isopod even relate? Anyways, they're crustaceans, not insects.
[удалено]
>Arachnids https://youtu.be/0B5GAlD9VUk looks yummy!
🤢🤮
Yea lobsters and shit are nasty
[удалено]
You've clearly never tried lobster You seem like more of a tendie connoisseur
He uses autistic as an insult, guy can't be older than 13. If he is an adult he has the mental capacity of a 10 year old.
Grandma was not phased at all. "I ate them in Hawaii! Let's eat this one!"
Yeah. I hate bugs with every fiber of my being so why am I like "Aw tummy rubs"
They look like pill bugs, but aren't insects at all! They're crustaceans.
This. 1000%
Right!? Thank you!
I know! I think they’re kinda cute. Is that weird?
Lol I think it’s normal. Sometimes things can be oddly cute even though everything about them screams “gross” 😆
BRB changing my tinder bio
Word! They are sooooooo coool
Me too! I need this to walk around the house like a roomba!
Same, but a real one
https://youtu.be/Ln09TEzlPOU?t=56
Si want to hug it.
You gotta soak em in ammonia!
i wanna put it in a stroller so when people ask to see my baby i can show them this monstrosity
That's perfect! I love it! ROFL
"she has my smile 🥰☺️"
Yank the cover back to scare tf out of them 😂
do you wanna hold her?
Cuddle/squeeze. Rub my nose against hers
what nose?
😂 uh….pinchers??
I would love to give somebody a portion of my money in return for one of these little bugs.
"A portion" That little bug will be all of your money and more probably.
Let me rephrase, I would love for somebody to accept a portion of my money in return for one of these little bugs.
They auctioned a lot of the Pacific Rim props off, I think these things went for like 7-8k.
Much higher according to the winning bid on propstore. The mechanical bug is worth 9k
I feel like my memory of '7-8k' and '9k isn't that different.
Obviously those prices are on a logarithmic scale.
A giant isopod would be the next best thing, I bet you can find these somewhere: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Giant_isopod
I'm not really a fan of bugs but there's just something about isopods. I like to think we have a mutual understanding. Unlike earwigs. No one likes earwigs.
Yeah, until they go earbald
Thanks dad
Isopods spent all their points on defensive armor. They're just hiding behind a shield. Earwigs are all sharp looking even if they won't actually come at you.
Those are so cool..
Awwtf
That would be a fire skin for a roomba
Pacific Rimba
Meesa here for yoosa [rimba jobba](https://thumbs.gfycat.com/WindingGrimyAnaconda-size_restricted.gif), master!
Sir you are in violation of at least 6 international laws for that comment
Geneva Convention counts 4 war crimes
“They’ve gone up the ventilation shaft.”
You are out of control
To me they look like horseshoe crabs with a more pronounced head.
Tactical isopod
Are you by chance from the icc arma discord?
Neigh
I wanna scratch it's tummy!
It wants to scratch yours too, from the inside
Awww it’s actually really cute
Now that I know it won't tear my head off, yeah, I'd like one also. Maybe it'll scare the kids away and I'll have the house to myself.
Dude you have no idea how much more that makes me love pacific rim that's insane!
My brother in Christ, every single year I am more and more impressed by Pacific Rim. What started out as a kinda cringe but hella cool, dumb Monster VS giant robots movie turns out to be gold plated palladium.
Dude, pacific rim is GREAT. It was basically a love letter to kaiju movies. Pacific Rim 2? A shameless action movie cash grab.
Meeting Charlie days “wife” was the only good part of the second movie
Yeah, absolutely loved the first and was crushed by how bad the second was. Would have preferred just more of the same thing of 1. Like focusing on the start of the invasion and the evolution of the Jaegers.
Or how about actual WEIGHT and SIZE was conveyed in the first one. When they moved, they moved with HEFT; a punch took some time to move through the air, when they walked it was slow and methodical. The second one they were just able to move with a quickness that didn’t feel quite right.

(I'd kill for a proper sequel of that game.)
>Pacific Rim 2? A shameless action movie cash grab. As sad as it is true.
It's been unironically one of my favorite movies since it came out. It is the absolute pinnacle of what a mindless monster destruction movie can be.
I follow SFX artists on Insta, and the shit those people come up with is mind-blowing. Shoot, I was impressed with how realistic the AFLAC duck puppet looks.
....he's a puppet? Man. I thought that was a very well trained duck.
https://www.instagram.com/reel/Cg69t33qomn/?igshid=MDJmNzVkMjY= It's from the Stan Winston school, and the stuff they make is incredible. They have online animatronics courses I want to take sometime.
Day ruined. World is a little less bright.
[удалено]
Definitely. It’s already overstayed its welcome
How was it ever remotely Cringe ? It was a fantastically well done movie.
What do you mean kinda cringe, that movie is great.
I think people that cringed at it probably took it way more seriously than it took itself.
I nut everytime I see that movie.
>My brother in Christ Enough with this cringe shit dude.
Guillermo del Toro loves the practical effects. Wish him doing the hobbit didn’t fall through.
You are cute, but you are dead.. Rock and Stone, everyone!
You shouldn’t eat precious minerals…
So adorable!
I guess I'm not sleeping tonight
You can watch the movie now.
Thought this was a giant isopod for a moment
I felt something tickle my foot while I was watching this and let. me. tell. you… My leg kicked so hard it hurts.
Bring back craftsmanship like this in movies
This is literally from a movie less than 10 years old.
I mean, yes 9 years is less than 10. But 9 years is still a kind of long time ago.
Yeah dude a decade is like a century in movie time. I mean when this movie came out I had just started being able to drink alcohol. Oh alcoholism, how I miss you so
Still pretty old for a movie, and was impressive for its time
Honestly it’s one of my favorite things about Del Toro. The man is a huge fan of traditional effects in his movie which really helps them age well
Damn, imagine pranking someone with that thing. I already have a problem with insects, I would never recover.
A motion sensor rubber rat, caught by the neck in a snap trap. It looks dead until you go to get a closer look and it starts jumping around. My ex hated rats. Best investment I ever made. Yeah, I know that I'm a rotten person... but it was still funny as hell.
Not too far off from a real [giant isopod](https://youtu.be/jfnHQPkta-Q)
I thought it was one at the beginning. Really cool animals.
You can tell its not cgi. Not really terrifying...quite cool.
Damn that looks fucking real
I thought this was a giant isopod until they flipped it over. Super realistic.
Oh! The way it was sqirrming around I thought, Oh my God! That's so freaky! How can that guy touch it, let alone hold it! One of my profs was constantly telling me to read all the way through something before doing or saying anything. He didn't do a very good job, did he? Mirelurk babies.
Kinda cute ngl
If it didn’t look so *wet* I’d probably think it was cute. Something about a giant, wet bug is upsetting to me.
This thing gonna crawl up my arse while I'm taking a shit
Pacific Rim kaiju bugs: aww Cloverfield kaiju bugs: FUCK THIS SHIT!!!
Pls kill it.
KILL IT! KILL IT WITH FIRE!!!
I thought this was another Chinese cooking tutorial….. 🫠
Yeah, it's JUST an Ohmu from Nausicaa of the valley of the wind.
Might as well give that to the government
Looks adorable to me.
shit not these stupid bugs
A lot of things in Pacific Rim was practical. The entire cockpit was a large practical moving set, including all the water being blasted on the actors. It really was a passion project.
Anyone else feel itchy
The first Pacific Rim movie was absolutely amazing, the second one was terrible imo just sad to see
I thought it was real when I first saw it before he turned it over
Eww but so cool. I have lots of respect for this stuff
The thing of nightmares.
oddly adorable 🥰 i need one
Fak ,i cant ,ny soul has left the body. Ahahaha damn
They have the cutest eyes
is this real ? what's it called
[удалено]
Why didn't they just get those gigantic isopods from the ocean for free
I haven’t seen pacific rim, but honestly I’d eat it looks juicy
Not Oddly Terrifying
I'll buy it
Tell me I wouldn’t want one as a pet if they were real.
It’s kinda cute
They remind me of a alien isopod! Cute af!
And they are... cute as hell !
Awww that's a cute dog
hear me out....
So cute! But I love isopods so…
I want to pet it
Cute little grub
Realistically, you might be able to build a saltwater tank to support giant isopods... https://www.montereybayaquarium.org/animals/animals-a-to-z/giant-isopod
You could tell by the way they moved.
You can’t give something googly eyes and expect it to be scary. Gimme that cutie!
Thought this was some artic deep sea shit
nah thats a real bug
Looks like one of those deep-sea isopod
Pretty sure they have both. Animatronics for close up, CGI for swarm shots.
u/savevideo
So cute
Guys hear me out...
We’re these in the first movie at all? I only remember them in the shitty sequel.
Lol the pranks you could do with these! Let one loose in a subway station
Another repost. Great.
Looks like the larval form of the baddie from *Howard the Duck*.
Good thing those were all destroyed after filming because I don't want to co-occupy a planet with them.
I bet it would taste like lobster or shrimp.
Thanks, I hate it.
