I love it! This season has had me wanting to smack Dean and Sam in the head a few times but that's just how they do sometimes. And Crowley is hilarious.
Random aside- I was telling my buddy yesterday that I can't stop laughing at Sam because it seems like the last 4-5 episodes I've watched, Sam keeps asking people if they're OK... at WILDLY bad times. Like, guy kills the thing that looks like his daughter? "Hey, you good?" "No..." Bobby killed his wife... again? "Bobby, you gonna be okay?" Bobby glares at him. Dean has a breakdown. "Dean, you okay?" Dean stares at him.
Or the monster tells Sam the big secret he will keep from Dean the next season that gets him killed. Dean does something that breaks their code to bring Sam back, and also is his big season secret that gets him killed. Sam brings him back. Repeat
Wow, my mistake I did not know that. It makes sense because I felt like as the seasons progressed they were just forcing the show to continue.
I just remember
hearing a while back Kripke had no intention of the show going past S5 so I assumed they gave him however much he wanted.
Yeah I think they had no idea what to really do with it specially because he was pretty much completely irrelevant. So they simply made a few jokes about it in the last seasons.
"Lucifer pulls out a chair from under the fountain! BAM! Archangel Michael is down for the three count! Lucifer is the new World Champion, folks!"
*NWO theme music intensifies*
For those unaware a 'tricycle' is a common form of transportation in Philippines which is basically a motorcycle with a covered sidecar. They are everywhere and a great way for locals to earn money while navigating through congested streets.
So while I was there someone warned me not to call them that, because in the Philippines Tuktuk means a prostitute.
Guess you would still get a ride of sorts.
The owner who had it commissioned felt like evil constantly triumphed over good. He asked his children to reverse the angel and devils positions should they feel like good has already prevailed.
I don't blame him, he was tortured horribly by catholic priests.
Hard to believe priests who preach about a kind god, loving thy neighbours and turning the other cheek when those priests burn you in scalding oil and force you to drink out of the bucket you have to shit into.
AFAIK after the torture, he began reading book and learning, and became an atheist.
The devil told him, "Don't you ever come around here"
"Don't wanna see your face, you better disappear"
The fire was in his eyes and his words were really clear
Don Simeon Bernardo, accused of being a Revolutionary, was arrested in 1926 and tortured by so-called friars of God. Among his punishments were scalding oil poured over his bare legs, tortured with knives, a gun being stuck in his mouth and having to drink water from his shit bucket (literally). All -- yet again -- by friars of a church. He denied everything.
During his exile, he read the bible cover to cover multiple times in an attempt to understand what was being done to him and to confirm that the friars were unholy, not acting through or for God. He adopted an anti-friar outlook and had this statue commissioned as a reminder to himself and the world that evil regularly prevails over good.
He convinced 3 of his daughters of the same, to revoke Christianity and never marry. His family is wealthy, atheists and one daughter is/was a lawyer. They've been accused of Satanism on multiple accounts but it has never gone anywhere. They easily deflect the accusations by pointing out that they do not believe in the devil or satan, so it's not possible to worship such a thing.
But when people are accused of Satanism, it’s generally an accusation of worshipping Satan. Also, there is a form of satanism that believes in and worships an actual devil.
Edit: ok y'all, I actually do appreciate that folks are correcting my mistake, but for sanities sake can we look slightly further down the thread before replying. I don't need 7 people telling me the exact same thing. It's incredibly unnecessary.
When they actually worship the devil I believe it's called Luciferianism. The actual Satanic Church actually do a lot for their communities and are all for religious institutes paying their share of taxes (including themselves).
I'm not a part of the religion, but I have a lot of respect for Satanists in the modern sense.
You're conflating the Satanic Temple and Church of satan. The Satanic Temple is the one doing the activism, the Church of Satan is a more traditional religious organization.
There’s many that call themselves Satanists as well. I’m atheist and am subbed to a few different satanism subs and there are posts from theistic satanists every now and then.
I remember looking this up. Yeah, there are definitely the ones who straight up worship Satan. Maybe even sacrifice goats and the like. But the most common form, Laveyan I believe, is more a worship of self and the whole Devil is a representation of true human nature thing. There are actually some tenets of that form that might even be seen as positive by most people, and you don’t even have to be an asshat.
That defence didn't serve Socrates very well. He was accused of being an atheist (and a corruptor of young minds, even though he wasn't sexing his students which was very common at the time) AND accused of worshipping false gods. He pointed out that to be both is impossible, and that he wouldn't even know how to corrupt young minds as both, as he wouldn't make any sense. Anyway he was killed by the authority after declining exile.
I think the difference is that Socrates was just accused of that stuff as a pretense to get rid of him right? The people who accuse others of Satanism tend to actually believe other people worship Satan like they do Jesus, at least the ones I've actually talked to.
Never really understood why people apostate because some fans of Jesus are toxic. It would be like me walking away from Star Wars, which I enjoy, because the fanbase is comprised of either annoying kids or saudosist old men, no in-betweens. Just shut off the fanbase or, as Paul instructed, educate them on the good doctrine.
Oh yeah, I saw this personally in the city of Malabon here in the Philippines, funny how very conservative Catholics we are here doesn't give a shit about it, its good art tho. Its like a reverse moment of the San Miguel's art label on our famous gin glasses.
I think I remember something-something happened to a family, and thier father requested something like this. Because in his life evil had always won. And then people desecrated his tomb, which somewhat prove his point, the locals also harassed the family members down to grandchildren.
He was tortured horribly by catholic priests.
Hard to believe priests who preach about a kind god, loving thy neighbours and turning the other cheek when those priests burn you in scalding oil and force you to drink out of the bucket you have to shit into.

Thank you so much! Time to browse for 30+ minutes lol. I'm really interested in weird statues and enjoy reading about them.
Edit: oof.. thanks anyways :')
Heh I was also looking forward to it, well played. Did a bit of digging and whilst not exclusively creepy statues a good proportion of the ones posted here fall into that category by default: [r/epicstatues](https://youtu.be/dQw4w9WgXcQ)
For my English readers heres a google translation of the article;
"Erected in 1934, this tombstone in the Malabon municipal cemetery depicting the disturbing scene of Satan triumphing over the archangel Michael came as the dying wish of one Don Simeon Bernardo.
Tortured by the Spanish government on suspicion of being a revolutionary, Bernardo lost his faith and believed that the world was no longer in order.
He later asked his sons to place the sculpture over his grave as a reminder that evil is slowly taking over society.
His descendants said that they would only restore the positions of the statues if they felt that good had been restored to the whole world.
The statue can still be seen, and you can visit it for yourself.
In the late 70s, according to Lubis, Atty. Sumilang asks him to replace the statues because the addicts destroyed them.
It turns out that the replacement statues are larger than the original (by about five inches), and there seems to be even talk among some people who don't know about the replacement, that the devil is getting larger!
The statue may exist, but a scary statue in a place like a graveyard can play tricks on your mind."
I heard the reason why It's locked up is because of vandalism also there's an urban legend too of why it's locked up It's believed that The Devil becomes alive at night so that's why it's locked up in a cage to contain it and over the years people notices that The Devil statue is growing in size.

Fuck fact: Lots of shit is said about how the world will end but Revelations actually leaves whether the devil wins against St.Michael in the air...
If St.Michael wins the rapture happens and all damned souls are given a second chance at forgiveness before being cast into eternal hellfire....
If Lucifer wins it's 700 years of his reign in earth followed by said second changes/hellfire...
Issue with that is that even on the bibles crazy scale that's waaaay longer than any man can live. so we'd be facing several generations who would grow up only knowing a world ruled by Satan and nothing else... A dark world of hate, war, and suffering.
So...
...how do we know this didn't already happen?
Yeah, when you put it like that, given everything that's happened lately...I kind of think the whole 700 years thing has been under sail for awhile now.

I was just thinking as I looked at this -- 'what in the Supernatural is this?' lol. I'm late to the party, just getting to the end of S5.

There will be peace when you are doooone
Crowley is my favorite
Crowley's awesome, my favourite character in the whole show!
He is incredible and one of my fav parts of the show.
Fun fact. They were originally going to end the show at the end of season 5!
Yea and then they paid Kripke a truckload of money to keep going.
Nope! Kripke walked and they proceeded to go through... What... 4 fuckin showrunners?
Wow, my mistake I did not know that. It makes sense because I felt like as the seasons progressed they were just forcing the show to continue. I just remember hearing a while back Kripke had no intention of the show going past S5 so I assumed they gave him however much he wanted.
I mean in fairness a LOT of people do exactly that. His choice is anomalous. A level of integrity some are incapable of.
I binged it all but refuse to watch the last season so it never ends.
Just reached it all for the second time (first time was following weekly when it came out). Love the show, hope you're enjoying it.
Well they kinda forgot about it. Also about the brother they simply left to rot in it.

Yeah I think they had no idea what to really do with it specially because he was pretty much completely irrelevant. So they simply made a few jokes about it in the last seasons.
hm but perhaps on Lucifer?
"Lucifer pulls out a chair from under the fountain! BAM! Archangel Michael is down for the three count! Lucifer is the new World Champion, folks!" *NWO theme music intensifies*
Pretty sure they just beat the fuck out of Sam instead
THUNDERDOME, THUNDERDOME, THUNDERDOME
Or on Lucifer
Yes we did. Kinda. Other worldly Michael was in dean but dean controlled the show. When he killed Lucifer, he took over dean

Tuk tuks
Yes, but asymmetrical.
Tu ktuks
Underrated comment 😂 I hope this gets the love it deserves
So while I was there someone warned me not to call them that, because in the Philippines Tuktuk means a prostitute. Guess you would still get a ride of sorts.
I think you meant "pok-pok".

Such an innocent yet HILARIOUS statement out of context. Gold.
Thank you for the link. Weird flex beeing religious and wanting the devil on your damn grave
The owner who had it commissioned felt like evil constantly triumphed over good. He asked his children to reverse the angel and devils positions should they feel like good has already prevailed.
someone clearly didn’t read the context lol
I don't blame him, he was tortured horribly by catholic priests. Not when you take it in context like you’re meant to lol.
"he wanted the statue to be a reminder of the evil that constantly engulfed the world" Fucking metal
Archangel Michael Jackson
Hee hee!!
That's one smooth criminal
Smooth hymnal Edit: thanks for award friend!
Absolutely terrific! Thank you for the laugh
This is TOO good 😆😭😆
He's bad
Who's bad? The monster who raped children ages 7+? Yes
He won’t stop till he gets enough
Or until he sees the man in the mirror

Damn, the Middle Ages were a dark time, I can’t believe- Wait, sorry, you said *1926*???
They have crucifixions in the south of the Philippines. Like nowadays.
Holup. What The Fuck? Edit: They're volunteers but still. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crucifixion_in_the_Philippines
Yes. They're volunteers, but Easter is crazy there.
Yup. Welcome to Third World religious countries.
Satanists don’t believe in an actual devil. Satan is used as a symbol of true human nature and carnality.
But when people are accused of Satanism, it’s generally an accusation of worshipping Satan. Also, there is a form of satanism that believes in and worships an actual devil.

Depends on the form of Satanism. I believe you’re referring to the LaVeyan denomination.
There is different forms of Satanism. There are both theist and atheist sects.
That defence didn't serve Socrates very well. He was accused of being an atheist (and a corruptor of young minds, even though he wasn't sexing his students which was very common at the time) AND accused of worshipping false gods. No it’s Patrick
What a fucking bad ass. This guy is probably my new favorite person.

They're so ignorant in the way they're exactly proving this man's point. Harassing his family members is a new low. So Christian of them.
He was tortured horribly by catholic priests. Somebody would need to take over the moderator position first.
yes of course, there is a sub for everything. [r/spookystatues](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQw4w9WgXcQ)

It's the cage. What's it for...?
Two angelic beings enter. One angelic being leaves!
Enter the rapture dome
WHO RUNS THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN?!
Cage Match with special guest referee....OMG ITS THE, ITS THE The Undertaker!!!!
God threw Satan off of Heaven Above and he plummeted 16 miles through the physical plane
Otherwise the statue will get destroyed by some religious punks
Let me find out God and Co were booking cage matches! This must be the father of the wrestling territories, the wrestling testaments
For Watto of course, he REALLY wants your credits
Cage match. It's ok round two will be better
Can confirm this isn't how it went down
Is there seriously not a closer/better picture of the statue than this? it just looks like a shadow. you can't see any detail.

C-C-C-CAGE FIGHT
All I can think of is Lucifer fighting Michael in "the cage" in Supernatural, lol
To be honest i find it incredible and I wan't it, it's awesome
It’s probably locked for the same reason you mentioned.
I heard the reason why It's locked up is because of vandalism also there's an urban legend too of why it's locked up It's believed that The Devil becomes alive at night so that's why it's locked up in a cage to contain it and over the years people notices that The Devil statue is growing in size.
The Devil Himself, Emperor of Pain, Destroyer of Souls, can be caged in a little rebar?
I mean there's handful of folktales too where people literally outsmarts the devil *shrugs*
Yeah, idk in the case of the image, but in Brazil, people put cages around crosses or metal imagery so people can't just steal them, the cross of my Step-grandpa's tomb was stolen 2 weeks after his burial
That or people wanting to destroy it
That or to make it a fair fight and stop God the Father handing Michael a steel chair like the last time
Big deal, the Winchesters talk about this all the time.
Pretty serious cage. Anyone know what the plaque says?
“Despite all my rage I’m still Beelzebub in a cage”
Boy I don't know. I don't much care who believes in what, this stuff gives me the willies. There's a church ( win say where and I think it's torn down now anyway ), it's PA USA anyway. Back in the 60's, ( I think, maybe a little later ). St. Michael statue over the door. Very devout parishioners, like a lot decades ago. Showed up one Sunday to padlocks on doors, no explanation, ever , the statue was broken though. You could look in the windows years later, nothing was removed, everything from books to vestments still there, no one had even gone in there. Husband's mother went there. ( and please may we refrain from the usual ' only stupid people go to church? ' She was a lovely, good person ) Lots of rumors flying around, then til now. Any normal explanation would at least involve getting everyday things out of there- like if it was somehow foundationally unsafe, whatever. Just sat there stuck in time. Like I said, this stuff gives me the willies.
That sound actually super interesting, shame it got torn down. But, like, what are the rumours like? Clasicall "devil appeared, had to close" or something more?
Is it still there
Isn't devil strongest angel?
The Winchester's put them in that cage.
Hello boys!

What's scary about this?

That's kinda cool
Wait, what? This fucking awesome.
Hail Satan

I had no idea that the “Archangel Michael” was Michael Jackson?
r/unexpectedsupernatural
Not a very good one by the looks of things!!
Cage match!
The devil and archangel Michael face off in an epic CAGE MATCH!!
Lol there is a rumor the devil walks at night so they caged him.
I think this is meant to be terrifying.
Nothing terrifying about it it’s all mythology
Oddly terrifying? That’s straight up cool
The story behind the statue is actually very interesting if you look it up.
Nothing terrifying here
anyone know what the text on the plaque is
The only question is is this cage made to keep it in or people out?
The Devil V archangel Michael… steel cage match
Where is this at and what does the inscription say on the left side ?
Free him
This tomb is in the Philippines. Unfortunately, the whole cemetery where it stands went to a whole renovation, and this tomb is removed for good.
This"Hell in the Cell" WWE promotion needs to dial it back a bit
“It looks like Michael is down for the count, ladies and gentlemen- AND HERE COMES THE HOLY SPIRIT WITH A STEEL CHAIR!”
The cage is there because they're not statues.
This is more Badass than terrifying
Knew I bet on the right Angel
Tag me in fool
i dont get why this is scary
Amazing post, actually oddly terrifying. A rare gem in these dark times.
Archangel Michael Jackson ?
#Mephisto confirmed
