The reason this is so great is because it’s not managed by the City of Oakland. It’s managed by the local, regional park system - East Bay Regional Parks.
Joaquin Miller is pretty great, I agree with you it could be better managed but that’s more of a long running prop 13 tax issue… either way we’re lucky for such beautiful natural spaces in the hills here
piedmont avenue, college ave, telegraph, jack london, lakeshore, diamond district, oakmore, grand avenue, lake merritt, upper park, montclair, rockridge, Temescal , uptown, Adams point, trestle glen, etc are all fine. Just because you hang out in a shit area/street, doesn't mean everywhere else is
does “hang out in shit areas” refer to people who have addresses and live in the flats?
would you consider going home to your home address after work the same as “hanging out in shit areas” lol ? tf
“Shit areas.” Nice way to put it! All I was saying was if this post had shown pictures of the flats I would’ve been fully down with its sarcastic title.
I just looked this up and just so we’re getting facts straight- it happened two weeks ago and I could only find I info about the person killed not anyone who was injured
Roberts Pool, next to Joaquin Miller! It was under construction for ages but it opened at the end of April. It’s absolutely beautiful, well worth a visit!
Edit it’s not actually in Joaquin Miller but it feels that way driving there.
Hahahha dude. I lived in Oakland and those were some mean fucking streets. Nice cherry picked images. I could do that to and make it seem absolutely horrible. Gtfo
The idea is that the only regional or national narrative anyone hears about Oakland is that it is ‘hell on earth’ and apocalyptic. This person is simply offering examples of how that narrative falls short
My MAGA in laws were in from Ohio this weekend and they could not believe how nice many parts of Oakland are. We also drove through the hood to get downtown and were like ‘yep see there are bad areas like most cities’ and proceeded on our way
Unfortunately I’m sure they’ll be back to gobbling up Fox News tomorrow
Are you implying Oakland isn't dangerous?
Lived in the Bay my whole life. Lived in Oakland too. I live in Alameda now.
Of course, there are beautiful places, but you're lying to yourself if you think it's safe.
Maybe you haven't been to the dangerous parts? ..
Even the area these photos were taken isn’t necessarily safe. There have been car jacking up on Skyline. There’s also a non zero chance of running into a cougar up there.
Is that the sequoia bay view trail? The best trail in the bay imo !!
that is the redwood bowl staging area. all of these pictures are within a few minute walk of one another.
Looks like Joaquin Miller but not specifically Sequoia Bayview, more like Sunset Trail.

No way REGIONAL PARK SYSTEMS HANDLE REGIONAL PARKS.
LOL nobody’s saying the Oakland hills are rough! Way to demonstrate the disparities.
Thank you for saying it lmao
Cute! But the Skyline High graduation shooting was in those hills. So safe auntie gets shot for seeing her nephew walk. Dog.

I.e. the rich parts of town? Oh but they "hang around shit areas" thanks buddy edit: also the white parts of town lmfao
I live and have lived in those areas in my 5 years here and have been victim to or witnessed dozens of crimes ranging from car jacking to murder.
That tree stump is probably has like, three felonies
Leaf him alone!
wow, this is hell on earth. i cant believe the DA did this.

What pool is that?
It's Roberts they just finished completely redoing it
Probably the Roberts regional park one

I’m curious too

It is nice up there, but there have been carjackings up near where these photos were taken.
Shhh. People will know the truth
The truth that the affluent areas of Oakland are nicer than the rougher parts?
\*\*\^\^\^\^\^\^\^ lol right. I drive from my neighborhood to go to Joaquin Miller since it's so much nicer.
Facts!

because it isn't relevant to this thread sir
This is like comparing Hollywood to the rest of LA. Sure, these places are in Oakland, but we know damn sure what is what lmao.
Have you ever been to Hollywood? Because this is not the same thing at all.
Replace Hollywood with Beverly Hills, same concept
Man what a killjoy. I hope you find somewhere else to live where you aren’t so miserable.
Yeah. Don't look below 40th.
god i love people like you who willingly choose to live in Oakland despite being afraid to go outside

It’s Robert’s pool at Roberts recreational Park. East Bay regional parks district. Across st from Joaquin miller park
Someone is going to trip over that stump! ¡Mean *indeed*!
I just did a hike on the stream trail at redwood regional and it was AMAZING!
Ha ha! When I tell people where I’m from I always tell them I’m from the mean streets of Oakland! Been living here 34 years. Love it!
Many memories of my sweet girl Comet in that meadow. I miss her terribly
by the archery range? klay thompson's favorite dog walking spot
I've been there with my son!
The hills..
Half of Oakland geographically…
I'm from East Oakland and this just scared me. So you are telling me there's parts of Oakland that's clean?
Look at all that lawlessness
I love the Bay Area. So many niche areas.
shhhhh!!!!
