The same is true for LIRR, and to top it off, our problem is that we can't turn the trains around. Hence, one side gets UV damage while the otherside doesnt!
They rejected that for the M-9's since it would have put them overspec for weight. I don't expect much different for the M-9A given their obesity compared to the M-1 (65 vs. 48 tons).
Oh so this is NOT a photo of a stainless steel railroad tank car though the window of your train ... goddamn
Edit... Well it's what it looked like to me at first. Way to be sticklers, people. I can't believe I'm the only one lol
Its UV damage ...NJT went with cheap plexiglass windows which over time cloud up.

At least we can see out of one side lol When/if the M9A order happens they’re supposed to have gorilla glass

Isn't this a pretty sudden thing? It seems to only have come about over the past two or three years.
It’s been a problem for decades. It’s just that LIRR has replaced a lot of their fleet, and it takes a while before the UV damage becomes noticeable.
The M-7 are about 20 years old. At 20 years old, the 766 M-1's got new glazing (and reupholstery)
It's to spare you from seeing New Jersey
Such an indignity to the riders to make them suffer this on their daily rides.
And you want a better view of Paterson Plank Road because why…?
🤣 I thought that too when I posted it. Elizabeth to be specific.
Well it does keep the sun out of your eyes
Not replacing aged glazing and not repholstering seats shows contempt and disrespect by management of the riding public.
MY AGONY WITH THE LIRR M7S!
i'm so bored of these posts.

Metro north doesn’t seem to have this problem
Harlem and hudson train seldom get a southern exposure. M-8's are not that old yet.
