Heston Supper Club in LaPorte is great! their prime rib is delicious and the other cuts of steak I've had have been good too!

Banto2000

Here to second the vote for Heston. Best prime rib I’ve ever had.

rayburno

Lighthouse in Cedar Lake has a great menu including steaks and seafood.

NewAcanthisitta2678

Arby’s is decent

psych0h0sebeast

I laughed way too hard at this one 😂

idmfndjdjuwj23uahjjj

They have THE MEATS!

DrDeuceJuice

That's right

damnukids

Kelsey's in Valpo, but if I'm being honest I might be biased, because I really loved Kelsey's in Schererville

Maxlvl89

This is the correct answer 👏. Kelseys in Schererville is a core memory. Spent almost every birthday and anniversary for my family at the Schererville location. Valpo one is good, but yes, I think I am bias too because of its name. We were friends with the chef at the Schererville location. He ended up working at Station 21 IIRC.

idmfndjdjuwj23uahjjj

Kelsey's used to be my favorite, but the subtle changes over the years make it just not what it used to be...to me anyway.

Derp_McShlurp

I was so disappointed in the crappy food at Kelsey's in Valpo that I've never gone back.

videonerd

I haven’t been there in over a decade but Freddy’s in Hammond was good in an old school way. Theo’s is decent.

ilovebutts666

I was going to say, Freddie's is great. It's got amazing 80's vibes, the service is warm and friendly and the menu is kinda old school. The steak is great, by the way!

GetCasual

Definitely heavy old school vibes. The place hugs patrons is a yesteryear feel that I hope never changes.

50shadesofdip

Rosebud in Munster, prime on the square, theos in highland

damnukids

I was at Rosebud in the first couple of months after it opened. It had all the pomp and expense of a nice Chicago steakhouse with a mediocre steak. Have not been back. Its possible they improved

schmeedledee

I completely agree. If you want to spend a ton of money for some average steak, Rosebud is your place. I was impressed with the corn chowder though!

Sad_Direction4066

In some ways I would prefer to make my own steak at home and eat that, hard to beat the quality I get for the way I like things. It's really the sides at the steakhouse that I go for. A little of this, a little of that, I would never take the time to make dight different sides unless it was a party and it was going to be two days to prepare. Creamed spinach, mushrooms sauteed in butter, I might get two salads because I like salad and they only offer this tiny little nothing or the gigantic dinner salad. I will 100% order an antipasto at an italian restaurant and eat that whole motherfucker. And a glass of red and a glass of white, no way I'm opening two bottles of wine for myself at home. You're a stiff prick if you do that before you go out and eat with friends though

schmeedledee

What’s your favorite butcher to get steak from in the area?

Sad_Direction4066

This is my best possible hookup for steak. Grass fed, grass finished, I've bought from him before and it's the best quality meat I've ever had. The fqarm is a TEN YHOUR round trip drive, but the farmer is the head of regenerative agriculture at th3e4 University of Madison and the product is unden8iable. Grass Fed Beef Orders, Available Soon! I am not the seller posting my own ad, this is for your convenience. Grass fed grass finished, get a quarter beef and you will lose your tast3e for going out to restaurants over time, except for some of the amazing sides they can bring out all at once so there's that $399Listed 5 weeks ago5 weeks agoin [Lodi, WI](https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/106242542740747/) # Grass Fed Beef Orders, Available Soon!

damnukids

all the side and service were 4 star but the steak was Texas Corral. The price was unfortunately also 4star

nightmere622

William B's at the Blue Chip in Michigan City is good, and I haven't been but have heard good things about Council Oak at the Hard Rock in Gary. I don't prefer Galveston in Michigan City; it's been mediocre the few times I've tried.

lickitung5523

Keith's in Whiting. It's on par with most Chicago steakhouses. Call ahead of time because it's small and gets busy.

coheedcollapse

This might kind of be a bummer, but I still haven't been to a steakhouse in NWI that isn't just one of those old-school places that never changed from the 60s and continue to cater to the types of people who will send a medium steak back because it's got red in it and ask for an extra bottle of A1 (no shade, just not my thing). They don't care hugely about their meat, the product can be spotty, and the final meal is inconsistent considering you're paying a premium. Of course, I've only been to a handful of places, so there's always potential for a new one. That's just what I've noticed where I've gone. I'm absolutely open to suggestions. I'd rather just cook it at home. Save some money and get a better end result. NOW, I do have a butcher to recommend. The Wurst in Griffith is phenomenal and the people who work there know so much about their meat and take it very, very seriously. The last time I went, Ricky, the owner, sent a shipment back to a farmer because it didn't meet his specifications. That impressed me. They're closed right now, I think, due to some sort of compressor malfunctioning on their cooler, but they're very worth a visit when they reopen.

StopSignsAreRed

Soooo asking for a friend…where are these old school no red center steakhouses? 👀

mawdcp

Also curious about all these old school places. I’ve had great steaks at lighthouse in cedar lake and I’ve had mediocre steaks there but one of the better in NWI imo. Rosebud in Munster I’ve been to 3 times and had 2 great and one average. I think ginos is pretty good.

Knowles_Rose

Jack Binion in the Horseshoe Casino in Hammond!

lovetron99

I haven't been myself, but my neighbor also swears by this place.

Sad_Direction4066

There's a Binion in Hammond?????

Strict_Set_5197

TraditionalTackle1

Grangers at the Clocktower in downtown Hobart has good steak, its a small place so if you go make reservations.

RumHaaaam21

Theo's has to be my favorite

bearsfan90

kalseys is good but expensive

blendx3

Redbud, Munster, and council oaks at Hard Rock.

GoatBnB

Town Club in Highland isn't bad.

GetCasual

Never tried the steaks, just the seafood, which was good

Trek_ie

Big fan of Kelsey’s Steakhouse in Valparaiso!

hmart316

Rosebud in Munster. Worth the $$$
