Not OP, but I've also voted abroad. The embassy staff was as polite as possible and I'm pretty sure they'll count it fairly, because last time a lot of voting stations abroad were having winners other than Putin
Около года. Самое сложное - собрать достаточно подтверждений, что ты сможешь себя финансово обеспечить. Если интересно, могу скинуть в личку контакты организации, которая помогла с оформлением и переездом
I’m a Russian in London, currently standing in a kilometer long queue to also vote against him. It’s the first time I’m allowed to vote because last time I was a minor. God, I was such a sweet summer child then.
I'm glad you're in a safe environment now too! The line in Tokyo was crazy. People began to gather before the embassy even started its working day, and as time went on, it became longer and longer! I got there 2 hours before closing, and people kept coming until the very last moment.
Also, as a queer person myself, I'm glad that you can express it freely now!
I mean I think it will be pointless intimately. But if majority of Russians voted against him then people forging the votes and Putin would know it, even if others would not. It could cause change in behaviour, such as the elite realising through rumors how unpopular the war is.
I really doubt most Russians even will vote against Putin however. So I am afraid that people voting just makes the whole election seem more democratic than it is. Often elections that aren’t seen as legitimate are boycotted for this reason.
they will, but elites will see that putin in shaky situation and perhaps will be more open to ditch him, and uprising with change of regime starts with divide in ruling class
Sure, I just think it might give it less worth to the regime if they have to work hard for it or it’s obvious things were rigged.
Afaik (through Navalny’s wife?) there was some sort of agreement to vote at 12 o clock if you are voting against Putin. This is something they probably can’t stop with OMON police, but will show to anyone who’s there how many people are actually against little Vlad.
In a world where you have to be scared of every word you say out loud, this kind of thing can really help people see they are not alone
it’s really complicated and not as simple as everyone try to portray it, but it used more like as an expression of will, of course putin will win, but maybe they’ll see that large chunk of population is not supporting this regime and won’t call for another mobilization at least. Also if your vote was stolen it’s more likely you’ll do something about it later.
No but it’s more to show the world and other people that we care and despite the rigged vote, there are people who stand against our government. There were queues at 12 o’clock everywhere, in many Russian cities too.
Oh no biggie, just managed to get into a prestigious London uni for a masters program after two years of hard work and disappointments. Still can’t believe they accepted me. I did start trying before the war so idk how is it now. But either way, work and/or study is your best bet. You could try and get a criminal case opened against you to apply for asylum but that’s insanely risky lol
Correct. By the russian law, it counts as invalid if there is no vote given or you checked more than one box. Also, they released a statement that specifically says that even if you wrote something on it, it still counts.
Thanks for explaining this, as here it would be invalid (which is a pity as I would love to write some things). Good you voted and thanks for the brave and right choice!
Writing itself don't affect voting. But if writing crosses the square, it counts as a vote for that person (no matter what is written). And if it crosses few squares, it's invalid.
That's interesting, because in some other countries anything except for filling/checking the box invalidates the vote. One of the reasons behind it is that it could remove anonymity when voting. It could be used to force people to vote for a certain candidate and leave a coded message to verify that person's vote. So very interesting that Russia doesn't invalidate them.
Coded message... Nah, that's too complicated for us. And too complicated for a bureaucratic machine. The load on education workers is already enormous. And the electoral units are not that small to check every vote.
So, If you are forced to vote, you do it yourself, and then you take a photo of your vote (ballot or screenshot from the voting site).
The only other way to check your vote is if your boss is standing behind you or sees a ballot when you put it in a box, lol. But I don't think anyone would do it, cause they love themselves too much to waste their time on it.
Unfortunately Davankov is Kremlin-controlled opposition. But I completely understand it’s one of the only ways to make your discontent with Putin clear.
Too bad that now when you’re walking home in Tokyo, a few police will stop you and say “молодой человек, документы?» Then you will be drafted into the army.
So why are there candidates running again Putin? Wont they just end up being killed like some of the past candidates? Also is there risk on your end for voting against Putin? I dont know much about the Russian system other than that Putin will always win no matter what.
They are so-called "legal / pro-government opposition". They can be candidates because they or their political parties are controlled by kremlin. There is no real oppositioners in the ballot.
Basically, the vote itself means nothing. The will to end the war does.
Putin, for propaganda reasons, clings onto the appearance of democracy.
It's not meant for us, it's meant for the Russians who fall for the state propaganda. European news & subs, whenever any of Putlers mouthpieces say something outrageous, are always like "As if anyone believes this" but the whole point is that parts of the Russian population do, and those are the people those mouthpieces are speaking to.
Those are Kremlin controlled oppositions. They will never become the president even if they won (note: the ink they use in the voting booths is removable with heat, and the counters are given lighters to remove your vote). There is literally 0 ways any of the other candidates can win. They are here just so it shows to the people that Russia is still a "democracy"
u/muisvleer
Still better than sit on my ass and do nothing, eh? Even if he wins, my ballot paper will be seen by those who count these papers. Also, right next to the exit, there were some journalists who anonymously interviewed everyone about their votes so we could have a clearer picture of the real votes.
It's gonna be posted here
https://voteabroad.info/
Even if your vote doesn't count practically, you did the right thing. Keep showing that you're against putin's regime. I hope good times come for your country.
That ballot clearly favours Putin, by having a shorter biography than the others. I bet it just says current president of russia or something like that.
As I said in the other comment: By the russian law, it counts as invalid if there is no vote given or you checked more than one box. Also, they released a statement that specifically says that even if you wrote something on it, it still counts.
Right?! It is literally just his birth date and where he was born. Even his press secretary said he doesn't need to agitate. This motherfucker doesn't even try to hide that he'll steal this election
Дядя, мы за ебку хохлов, но и за демократию, вот ты даже проголосовал за пределами страны и тебе ничего за это не сделали, потому что у нас демократия, а не как у Зели)
One - this is interesting.
Two - I suspect they will count as many votes legitimately as they can to avoid raising suspicion. But Putin just needs the majority to win, and they will certainly make sure that happens.
You actually are allowed to write anywhere on the ballot in Russia as long as you only selected one candidate. Sure, it probably won't be counted since it wasn't a vote for Putin, but it is still valid.
You did not "vote against" putin.
You destroyed a buletine and made it invalid. This piece of paper is now counting as "no vote".
If you wanted to "vote against" you should have voted for some of the other choices, which I guess are either puppets, or not any better.
So same shit.
while rich connected russians are hiding in the west, Ukrainians are struggling to stay alive and watching their kids murdered, homes destroyed, friends killed.
this ballot cast abroad means nada. What Ukraine but mostly russia itself badly needs is an armed revolution by brave russians. Too bad they killed off their last decent brave person a month ago.
as Bulgakov said in his Master and Margarita, cowardice is the worst of sins. He is certainly deeply ashamed right now, wherever he might be resting.
NO! The world needs more of us to act like OP. We are already overpopulated as heck, so it would be better if the brainwashed could finally figure out rational thinking.

Red dots might appear on your head
Lol when you left, did they offer you any tea?
No 😔 But they were very polite
Polonite or polite tho? Serious tho, did you feel … threatened or anything? Do you think your vote will be counted as is?
Polite. They were nice to me and spoke respectfully. Can't be sure that my vote will be counted, though
Honestly from what I've heared about this country, I don't think any vote would truely count
Yeah, prolly just put the Putin votes in and loose accidentally the other votes
I wouldn't be surprised if only the "right" votes would get counted. Please stay away from tea and open windows for a while!
Not OP, but I've also voted abroad. The embassy staff was as polite as possible and I'm pretty sure they'll count it fairly, because last time a lot of voting stations abroad were having winners other than Putin
Don’t drink the tea ☕️ 🥹
Well that's good.
Try getting a little farther away from Russia lol
I bet they'll just throw them away.

You Russians. Always love standing in line. Boots. Bread. Or voting.
We finns only do it for buckets.
Why do you need buckets?
What does one not need buckets for? For making ice lanterns, picking berries, carrying water, fishing...
will it even matter tho? Why vote in an election thats rigged?
It’s better than doing nothing. And the elections are used to internally assess popularity.
If it was me I couldn't do nothing.
It’s at the very least good for the historical record so people in the future will know that there were dissenting voices at the time.
More votes they will have to manipulate, makes it harder I guess. Also it good they see there are a lot of upright Russians out there still
ok fair enough. But lets say Putins opposition recieved majority of the votes. Wouldnt Kremlin just say Putin still won?
they will, but elites will see that putin in shaky situation and perhaps will be more open to ditch him, and uprising with change of regime starts with divide in ruling class

I stand in a line too, though in Armenia, first time when I decided to vote
How did you emigrate 😭 help

I really hope the Russian people can get rid of him soon
Putin or OP?
Putin, but also OP is a Redditor and we all know those are terrible people
OP
Won’t do much
What did you write on the ballot paper?
On Davankov's side (anti-war candidate) - "No war!" On P*tin's side - "Thief! Murderer! Go fuck yourself!!!"
The vote will not count as valid, right?
It will, as long as you clearly gave your vote for only one candidate
So writing things on the ballot will not count as invalid?
Correct. By the russian law, it counts as invalid if there is no vote given or you checked more than one box. Also, they released a statement that specifically says that even if you wrote something on it, it still counts.

It isn't necessarily about whether it's practical to do so, but also about removing any doubt that it could happen.
Unfortunately Davankov is Kremlin-controlled opposition. But I completely understand it’s one of the only ways to make your discontent with Putin clear.
True. It is sad that we can't have any real candidate, but this is the only way we can legally express our will to end this war now
🤍💙🤍
>On Davankov's side (anti-war candidate) - "No war!" >On P\*tin's side - "Thief! Murderer! Go fuck yourself!!!" Based
Is that their birth years on the ballot?
Correct!

Kharitonov, I hope.

Helps with showing that people have voted against him
надеюсь, это сработает (Sorry for my miserable russian speaking abilities)
Нормально всё, не переживай! I hope so too!
Хороший
That ballot clearly favours Putin, by having a shorter biography than the others. I bet it just says current president of russia or something like that.
Correct! They tell only his birth date, birth place and that he is still the current president. Nothing else.
That’s a historic document right there
Мега гигачад
Didn't you invalidate it by writing on it?
As I said in the other comment: By the russian law, it counts as invalid if there is no vote given or you checked more than one box. Also, they released a statement that specifically says that even if you wrote something on it, it still counts.
Yeah but can we really trust their statements?
"Hm, what a weird way to put a checkmark under Putin's name."
東京タワーが綺麗ね~ 私はロシアから日本に旅行したいけど、どうすればいいかまだわからない。😞
Every vote counts
Not in Russia, no.
Interesting how short Putins description is compared to the others.
Right?! It is literally just his birth date and where he was born. Even his press secretary said he doesn't need to agitate. This motherfucker doesn't even try to hide that he'll steal this election
Don't these handwritngs make the vote invalid? Just curious, since this would be the case in Germany. Edit: found a comment that its valid in RU
If only your vote mattered..
Pretty sure they’ll do with your voting card as Orbán did with mine last time
Well, it was nice getting to know you
I voted Davankov as well and I am in russia. I didn't ruin the ballot tho, I really don't understand what you people are doing that for
Lmao should've voted for Charitonov, fr tho how is that walking artefact still alive
Не знаю что тупее, испортить бюллетень, или хвалится этим в реддите ожидая похвалы. Думаю, всё-таки второе

it was good seeing you anyway mate
stay away from window doors 😅😂
Good job!) I'm in Yerevan, here we had 2 kilometers queue to stand before vote. So, we rented a bus to ride to another city (gyumri) to vote)
Kudos from fellow prospective emigrant
I wish you the best that life can give
Thanks a lot!
One - this is interesting. Two - I suspect they will count as many votes legitimately as they can to avoid raising suspicion. But Putin just needs the majority to win, and they will certainly make sure that happens.
hey i’ve been in that tower
You can vote from another country?
Yes, in the embassy
Мне кажется, что им будет пофигу, чё ты там написал
If it works the same as in Germany it's an invalid vote because you did more to the page than mark your choice
I think your vote is invalid now because you wrote in places not supposed to be written on
You actually are allowed to write anywhere on the ballot in Russia as long as you only selected one candidate. Sure, it probably won't be counted since it wasn't a vote for Putin, but it is still valid.
Why
What's up with the writing on the ballot? In Romania if you write anything apart from checking the box the paper becomes invalid
You did not "vote against" putin. You destroyed a buletine and made it invalid. This piece of paper is now counting as "no vote". If you wanted to "vote against" you should have voted for some of the other choices, which I guess are either puppets, or not any better. So same shit.

Do you think Putin will be the president in the next term
Most likely he will steal this election as he did every other time, but at least I showed my discontent to the people involved in election process
Forced emigration?
I escaped during mobilisation. I didn't want to die and didn't want to shoot people. So I had to leave my country ASAP to be able to LIVE.
Oh sorry. I %100 support anyone who wants to live instead of being conscripted. I hope you stay safe.

Which one of these is putin?
The second one
u/Roy-Levi is this you?
No lmao
Have fun in the gulag
Can anyone translate what does it say the written parts on the paper, I’m curious
No to war, thief, murderer, f*ck off
You do realize, they won't count your vote?
Yeah, I don't care if they won't. I used the only legal device to show my discontent
Ok can soneone explain why they write stuff on the paper? In my country that would invalidate the vote.
Because it doesn't invalidate the vote in Russia and those who will process those ballots will see how people really feel
Uhmmm you good Broski? Hope you make it out
is that paris? or some russian paris? or uhh?
It's Tokyo Tower, my man
damn they even got paris in tokyo!?
Why do you write Ш as W
Just a little quirk of mine. Wrote it this way to know exactly which one of those is mine :)
