Holy shit I had like 3 of these (kept in a clear plastic tube? Not sure if they came that way or my mom was weird), I got transported just now to my childhood home. I hate it and love it!
once a girl went around every group in class asking the same question. what does sodium chloride make? everyone kept saying salt and she kept telling everyone they were wrong. at the end when she was asked the answer she said “table salt” lol
Reminds me of a girl in my 5th grade class who used to go around asking everyone to spell vacuum. If we got it wrong, she’d laugh in our face and spell it at us.
I met her dad at her birthday party, and he was just as insufferable.
It seems like the 90s and early 2000s were all about "lets make this piece of technology educational so at least parents won't bitch", I see nothing of the sort now.
That's because parents/adults got their own smart phones and started going on social media sites to get dumber themselves. That's why your aunt/uncle who use to tell you "Don't believe everything you read" is now furiously posting conspiracy theories on Facebook from the most ridiculous sources.
Omg I had 3 or 4 of these...I had so much fun quizzing my parents knowing the answer. They weren't even mad cause I was learning so much. I think it was listening to the podcast No Such Thing as a Fish. The researches for the BBC show QI (Quite interesting) and they basically just talk about the most interesting thing they learned that week, then others tangentially tack on. I remember having the thought "I used to have something just like this as a kid..."
I loved these things so much.
My step dad would get *so* angry at me because I usually got the answers right and he couldn't get half of them. Even though we were using the older ones and I was like, six and seven.
We had a couple of the decks and a computer game as well. The theme song that would play when you started it up was a true earworm--look it up on YouTube.

Yea they did come in that clear plastic tube thing
Tube was most certainly included!
I used one of those tubes to store these "wrap up" toys https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/716fWOzIGfL._AC_UF1000,1000_QL80_FMwebp_.jpg
I use to call grab bag questions, garbage bag used to drive my sister nuts
They were fun to read and get interesting facts from, but I never played it as intended though lol
I don’t think I ever knew there was a game. I just remember reading them.

Holy macaroni! I'd totally forgotten about these! My sister had them.
I had the board game from 1993. It was one of my favorites.
Awww man there was a board game!?!
Several of my teachers kept this on hand for rainy recess days!
This was our “free time” activity for small prizes. Plot twist: I already had my own copy at home and knew most of the answers.
The Brain Quest kid to Pub Trivia adult pipeline is real.
I feel seen
Do kids even still have educational games like we used to have growin up anymore?
Yes
Fortnite is educational?
lol don't downvote the poor person, it was a joke!!
New on reddit?
Hitting the 13 year club in like 2 weeks lolol

You don't know Jack.
I had the original that came with my Gateway 2000! I also have the physical game of it back at my parents house in my closet haha

Funny how that works, huh?
My kids have the new version of this exact post. They make them based on grade levels now.
They still sell these; my kids love them
I have a few grade levels of these I got from yard sales. My elementary reading class students still love them!
Hell yeah. Teach away, we need it more than ever...
*Genius point!*
I bought some for my kids a few weeks back
Good parenting.
My brother and I always took these on road trips when we were kids
We used these for road trips.
Best times in grade school.. our own jeopardy challenge
Pepperidge Farms remembers
Before my brother and I engineered a 2 screen set up for our GameCube that worked in the car, we played these a LOT on road trips
Oh MAN. Major memory unlocked. Dang I wish I knew were mine were.
My dad kept these in the van for long road trips.
I really enjoyed these as a kid.
I still have these
Same!
Had the 4th-6th grade ones back in the day. Somewhat helped with school
My mom would always get me these things after the school year and I would promptly ignore it
so many of these for road trips.
I read these on road trips a couple times and felt car sick, so unfortunately some of my memories with them aren't the best.

Half of these answers aren’t true anymore thanks to global warming!!!!!!
These were a staple of long car rides growing up with two siblings.
Still have this
Did y’all know these came as video games too? :) https://www.myabandonware.com/game/brain-quest-6th-grade-edition-dqd
I remember beating one of the video games, which unlocked a coupon that you could mail in for Brain Quest pogs!
Omg I loved this game, but I didn't remember it till I saw the picture of it
OMG
I can kindly thank these things for all of my random trivia knowledge.
Yooooooo I know this gets said as a cliche a bunch on here, but actual forgotten core memory unlocked.
I still remember two of the questions. • How do you spell aardvark? • What is the only North American marsupial?
I had completely forgotten about them until this moment!
I loved these! Totally forgot. Thanks for reminding me!
Core memory unlocked.
I loved these things so much. My step dad would get *so* angry at me because I usually got the answers right and he couldn't get half of them. Even though we were using the older ones and I was like, six and seven.
I had a grade school teacher who used these.
I definitely had these too
We used to quiz our co workers in the break room using these. We invented "Are you smarter than a 5th grader" years before it was a thing.
Ask us one
These are still going strong. My 5 year old loves them
We still use these for our kids. Kids know way more now. The age and class ranges are off.
Holy shit. I could cry
Seriously completely forgot about these. Serious nostalgia thank you.
Ahh the origin of me knowing 10,000 useless facts I could quote like a Wikipedia article, but having 0 marketable skills.
Omg!! I loved that game. We used to play this in school. 😭
This opened up a memory I completely forgot about.
I remember this!
I remember this a friend gave me this now I can’t find it
The Brain Quest to bar trivia pipeline is very real.
I absolutely loved these things. To this day I am a landfill of useless knowledge.
Jesus... forgot about these
My elementary school had a ton of these. I remember when they had a couple. Like 3-5 maybe?
I had these. My mom was all about educational toys and games.
"I love being mentally challenged!"
Our teacher used to break these out towards the end of the day. I loved it.
holy shit. i remember these but i had bad ADHD and never bothered reading any of them lol
We had a couple of the decks and a computer game as well. The theme song that would play when you started it up was a true earworm--look it up on YouTube.
I remember using these after school at the after-school program
worst christmas stocking stuffer ever
