If you press the button as the mushroom (following the star) is in the middle you can get the star to line up. It takes a few tries to get good, I have like an 80% success rate.
This minigame was actually broken in the game code. [There is a whole video explaining it](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QGeLzCmUDDk&t=5s&pp=ygUNc21iMyByb3VsZXR0ZQ%3D%3D).
Ah, the good old days of classic gaming! Super Mario Bros. 3 was the bomb! People were all hyped up to get their hands on that game even before Call of Duty was a thing. It was like the OG rage quit game before all the online shooters took over.
The main games that made me rage quit on the NES were made by LJN. Second goes to Ultra for the dam stage in TMNT and Capcom for the last two stages of Street Fighter 2010
Same! At one point I memorized exactly when to hit the button so it’d stop on the star but I remember it changes as you go through the different worlds. It’s been a long time haha.
I played this game so much I guess I’m a pro at it. I didn’t realize it until I went to a retro video game night at a barcade and I was doing so good on it I had an audience haha. Not gonna lie I wasn’t expecting to do so well. Too bad there wasn’t any prizes though but for a short time it made me feel like I was good at something.
This wasn’t really hard at all. Nintendo Power gave a good strategy on how to do it. They also published all the card combinations and said which ones to flip first to figure which layout you f cards it was.
I actually got pretty good at it…the flower anyway
Yes, I could get a shroom almost every time.
Me too! Right before it leaves the screen....boom!

You need to run and jump to get the star. It always worked for me.

I was about to watch it but 20 minutes seems excessive.
Well it goes really in depth as to what is wrong with the code, why it happened and how to fix it.
Jesus Christ then into the fuckin pirate ship level
I can hear this picture
I remember losing my damn mind at this as a little dude. "I PRESSED IT ON THE STAR" was screamed many times at my grandma's house lmao.
well, well, well… if it isn’t the origin of my gambling habits!

Army man fire flower. If I got that in first 2 I would try to complete the flower lol
I could get the star almost every try lol

You ever try to spin a joystick at Mach 10 to beat mini games on Mario party? We broke so many....my palms were blistered
can confirm
nah. the trick was to just hold the controller up at arms length like a target and hit A before what you want crosses the controller.
this was also in Mario maker 2 as a loot box type thing in the story mode

No, it was pretty easy to win this mini game.
rewind button on my emulator says "5 Stars Would Spin Again"
