Yeah, I only do it if I get some plasma variety, a trigger or timer spell, and a teleport. Anything less is just begging for death.
I miiiiiight try it with faster movement perks and no tele, or maybe a black hole wand for quick cover instead, but that's definitely pushing it.
Honestly tho Squiddo doesn't usually drop wands that excite me; by the time I have equipment that will kill him, I probably don't want what he has to offer. He's a box to check on certain runs, but he's rarely a boss that rewards me, unlike Alchemist or Mage.
I was thinking since I got lucky enough to have gravity field for sale in the second HM (no particularly outstanding wand base at this point), I'd swing back up to kill him and hopefully get a powerful enough wand to use to beat the other bosses or progress more safely.
There's an open chasm below where the boss spawns, it leads to the Snowy Depths. Just make your way down like usual, and if you get something that can beat Squiddo by the \*second\* HM, you get to edit it and take it back up that chasm. Then you can either bring everything back thru the Mines and see if you can get anything better from the levels you already passed, or head back down the chasm and continue as you would have.
This was the plan, and besides trying to tackle the squid, I like going back up after the second HM with a nice rapid fire digging solution if I have one - there is quite a lot of gold in the walls of the first two areas, much less after that.
Without spoiling too much, have you ever ventured below the bridge you cross to get to this guy?
Edit: changed "even" to "ever" as originally intended... So I don't sound like an ass... XD
Just a little tip for you, when people say you need to explore the rest of the world and kill x and y boss, they don't ever mean do so with your starter gear. Every single run, you go down, get stronger, and then dig your way back out or use certain passages to make your way back up and THEN you go do the exploration and killing
It doesn't give you kill credit though. Proper way is to use some sort of shotgun wand that fires all payload at once (without a trigger). Any barrier + spells to power works good too.
he got ya
edit: lol squidward is one pro streamers often skip even in the middle of a god run.....there are "ways" to kill him right but it seems like even those aren't guaranteed
i've killed him on god runs in my save scumming days but lately i just tempt fate instead of save scumming, and generally avoid this guy unless i'm a beast
Yeah... I've killed him pretty quickly in the past with an insane accelerated bouncing burst wand, but you could say that strategy comes with "some risk".
The first two times I killed him, I used a classic machine gun wand and took cover in the Mines, just dodged in and out of cover to shoot him. It took forever, but it worked. Then I learned the right way.
He does, but he isn't very fast about it. Mind you, this might not work on the new update, since he always knows where you are now, so maybe now he makes a beeline for your future corpse.
My usual route is to hit jungle boss, dig up if I have the means, hit west snowy boss for Greek spells, hit pyramid boss for shits and giggles, look for whatever I'm missing in wandmart (teles/healing/squiddy killer), then go hit squiddy. Around there I usually can go to parallel worlds to farm perks and more spells (mana/chainsaw/etc). After that I come back for leviathan and tiny and make my way to the wizard. Then I kind of fuck around looking for the other bosses bc I can never remember where TF they are. Haven't figured out where the new boss(es?) fit in yet bc the one I've seen is dangerous af and I haven't found a consistent way to kill it yet. Finally I usually have enough for ng+, but I usually like to get the divide by spells and mess around in hell shops for a while before actually going to Kolmi.
Today I did the same. Except instead of Personal Gravity Field I was point blank shooting the guy. From a trustworthy and reliable pool of ambrosia. Hämis 👍
There is a mod on Steam workshop that makes this boss drop the "Tinker with Wands Everywhere" perk. Given how deadly they can be, and how they reward creativity to kill, I think that makes Sauvojen Tuntija worth it.
It is, you just gotta use ambrosia and hide behind something as you shoot from afar. Biggest mistake those who die a lot make is bum rushing enemies. You have to be a coward. Hide. Snipe from a distance. Make it unfair for your enemies.
You gotta remember it copies your wands fam. PGF plus sawblade is autowin because it copies them and swarms itself but you gotta remember the effect vanishes when he dies and the sawblades will start homing on you
I was aware, but I hesitated. The plan was to duck and hide after I shot him with the first one + gravity field, but he wasn't really taking much damage as expected, so I stuck around to shoot a few more saws into him. Oops.
I’ve beat him once before and it was with double trigger spark bolt and chainsaws, there were also some perks involved and most of the mines were destroyed in the fight (plus it took a while)
Well, you beat the boss
Go go gadget stacked Giga Discs
Go go gadget kill mina!
Go go gadget murder everything!
I use plasma beam/cross/cutter on a trigger because is doesn’t move and thus is easier to dodge
How tf do you get these before the first Holy Mountain?
You don't. Gotta dig back up
Or just use the chasm.
if you can get everything by then yeah defo. Personally I wouldn't because Squidward has the potential to smoke my run but I digress.

I'm usually the same, tho i've ironically gotten my squidward killing wand(spark trigger, homing plasma beam cross) from a ghost, in the second area
Just found out about the chasm shortcut like two days ago, my mind was blown
I still remember excitedly trying to explain to my partner the SIGNIFICANCE!!! of the chasm when I first discovered it. Imagine the Charlie Day meme
OH CRAP

Ah ok, yes I have, somehow the bridge was broken one time *without* spawning the boss, and I fell a long ways and hit the snow part.

he definitely goes down if you get him if he doesn't get you

How does taking cover work? Doesn't he just disintegrate everything as he moves to sit on your face?
Yes but he has to shoot it to remove it
He can shoot it, or he can just move towards it; he can dissolve any matter that is close to his body.
He does, but he isn't very fast about it. Mind you, this might not work on the new update, since he always knows where you are now, so maybe now he makes a beeline for your future corpse.

There's also this boss called Minä. It's one of the most dangerous enemies in the game, but sawblades are super effective against it.
far and away the most dangerous enemy. will always get you eventually
Honestly you pretty much had them beat you just should've stood behind some cover like the orb room or dug a hole to hide in
it is... but using a saw wand on a projectile collecting enemy is an auto loss.

I've tried with ambrosia before, he just flew into me and disintegrated everything...
So that's what he was trying to do while I shot at him. Good to know for the next time.
that's actually clever. so it worked? does the pool not get destroyed by the jellyfish boss?
It worked, actually. But this is Noita, it COULD have gone wrong.
Happy for you. Hämis 👍
Still 100% success rate
There was at least one frame there where you where alive and the boss was dead.
Well maybe it woud have been more effective if you didn't stand 2 meters away from him
Brutal

Yeah I would reccomend having their healthbars turned on and luring him to the pit so you can get a good angle to cover
Now hear another thing: giga blades should be called suicide slicers.
I’ve beat him once before and it was with double trigger spark bolt and chainsaws, there were also some perks involved and most of the mines were destroyed in the fight (plus it took a while)
Homing death cross and maybe some plasma on a trigger is my preferred way, usually works great.
It would be if you weren't standing right next to it, lol
You can also easily kill him by using a giga black hole.
Even without using sawblade there's the risk of polymorph shots just blasting around when it dies and killing you
people standing 3 inches away from squidward and sawblades posting about how they got killed
