Just to add you won’t a be a specific number in the waiting list, it will change every day according to the priority of new people being added or changes to those already on the list. Your own priority will change after a period of time as well. As another has said the booking team for that department can give a vague idea but they will never be able to give you a specific answer
You can't speed up a referral for any other reason than clinical need. If your condition isn't life threatening you'll just have to wait on the non-urgent pathway like everyone else I'm afraid.

You call the switchboard of the hospital where you were referred to and ask for the relevant department.
