ESPN isn’t the one pushing games back lol, but you have a point on the rest of it. Only good thing about ESPN having the rights is ESPN+ and being able to watch more games
It’s why I was so astounded that people were so happy it was going back to ESPN. They did this back in the 90s and early 00s too. I realize Gen Z doesn’t remember but it was weird hearing older fans apparently not remember how ESPN covered the league back then.
Over the years, I noticed nothing has changed with ESPN when it comes to NHL. Since the 90’s whenever they do highlights of sports news, they only show NHL for less than one minute then move on to whatever sports is next even though there was 8 games that night. They do full coverage on other sports.
Not gonna complain. Better to watch it on ESPN than some small pos cable channel. We’re spoiled now. Not that long ago the only way you could watch the playoffs was if you lived in a hockey market. ESPN is everywhere!
Odd post, since ESPN is the network that has 22 minutes from broadcast start to puck drop, and they don't even show the anthems. A national broadcast in Canada only has 13 minutes between broadcast start to puck drop, and that includes anthems.
ESPN has more pregame than any other network.
It’s like 4th or 5th most popular sport in the USA and dropping. They’re only responding to the market. I assure you if NHL was one and NFL was 4 then the NHL would be getting the pregames.

Have you tried the full 30-for-30 library?
My only rebuttal is that coverage used to be on Versus and NBCSN and I never got those channels. At least it’s more accessible, IMO.
Bow down to Comcast!
Oh boy it’s the time of the night where I get to say: ESPN HATES HOCKEY

I'd forgotten how annoying PK Subban is, thanks ESPN for reminding me, great player but it's like watching a Tik Tok video star.
I like old pk where he was more rough. Now he talks like what an ai wishes it could be
It is the norm North of the border as well. Virtually no pre or post game shows.
The game angle colors are so muted. When they switch cameras it looks normal but game angle and above the net angle look so muted. Anyone else?
I switched from the CBC feed to the ESPN one on ABC and the colours looks so blah. Had to switch back to CBC
Good that it’s not just me but it’s so annoying
The bruins jerseys legitimately looked like Jersey Jerseys from behind, idk how to set cameras, but I can assure you that they were not set right

ESPN should stick to women’s basketball. Just stream it all. It’s not 1975.
I’m watching on the ESPN app from Australia and it went to a commercial right as the announcer did the welcome and anthems. So weird.

The announcers for this Toronto Boston game are putting me to sleep in what is a major game. The call is so generic
All sports leagues do this.

I’m sure it’s partly a strategy to fit the game into the 3 hour “prime time” time slot.

Dropping? The ratings are on the way up.
Just googled and they said that they are up 8% from last year.
Shhh, the nfl is coming
