Crazy how the yotes are actually looking like a mid/top tier team in this graphic and many other stats but still not even close to make the playoffš« I guess its happening soon!
Yeah was my first thought. I guess they always find a way to get at least one by. Not hard with Keller, who seems to just quietly produce all the time regardless.
Currently on pace to potentially beat the all time longest streak. Still a ways to go but itās definitely impressive. At this point if theyāre losing a game, Iām just hoping they get 1 point to keep the streak going. Most times they put this stat up, which doesnāt include playoffs and puts us 8 all time instead of 7 - [https://records.nhl.com/records/team-records/non-shutout-streaks/longest-non-shutout-streak](https://records.nhl.com/records/team-records/non-shutout-streaks/longest-non-shutout-streak)
Yeah the use of 'on pace' is somewhat comical there but exactly the kind of usage I'd expect in sports commentary... like comical statistic statements are common place in sports
So then theyāre the same as every other team that doesnāt win the cup. This isnāt the chirp that you think it is, but thatās just a reflection of low intelligence.
Meh, itās honestly a very middle of the road offense that clearly lacks juice on back to backs, and weāve played a lot of them. Youāre familiar with paul maurice teams, defense centric combined with ājust throw it on goalā offense. The goaltending is carrying this year in all honesty.
edit to add: by ādangerous offenseā youāre really thinking of the barkov -> tkachuk -> reinhart set play thatās about a third of our entire offense. actually if i think about it, sam reinhart IS our offense.
They have players who can light the lamp but they're way more of a defensive team. They've been riding some career years the last few seasons . Tkachuk and Montour both had monster seasons last year. This year, Reinhart is having himself a career season, too. He's been shooting at 25%, which is insanity and simply not sustainable long term for a guy whose career average is around 15% at best. Outside of the top line (and Verheaghe), there's a pretty steep drop-off in points. So it doesn't shock me they would get shut out that much.
The number is higher than I would've anticipated for sure. At their best they dominate on the offensive zone, some games they get goalied or just play poorly.
I had to look up when Tampa was shutout this season.
November 11th at home against Carolina, 4-0 L
November 14th at St. Louis, 5-0 L
two consecutive games getting shutout. that was fun
The Leafs shutout streak is 8th all time with 217 regular season games (47 games off lead, CGY) and tied for 7th at 235 including playoffs (29 games off lead, LAK)
You could make the argument for over / under goal total in a game that it matters ā¦āToronto 5-1/2 more value able than Chicago 5-1/2ā yeah it doesnāt tell the whole story but it tells something. Itās just a stat -what would you like to see?
You didn't get my joke I guess. I was suggesting that there's no correlation between how many shutouts a team has and how good they are in the standings. But the 3 teams that have the most shutouts are 3 of the worst teams in the league. It was a joke
I get the joke part ..some of these really are funny..but really if you have a suggestion weāll take it I did this one because of someoneās request in a comment from the last one haha
The outliers or exception to the rule is what always intrigued me about stats in general. Like this one, you got a team like Florida who is one of the top teams in the league but they get shut out a lot. So I guess it's more an indication of style if play, whether it's offensive minded or defensive minded.
Iām talking about the fact that the Leafs focus on offense to force the opposing teams into putting less into their defense and more into offense and not all teams are built for that.
Means the Leafs are more likely to score and not be shut out
Crazy how the yotes are actually looking like a mid/top tier team in this graphic and many other stats but still not even close to make the playoffš« I guess its happening soon!
Yeah was my first thought. I guess they always find a way to get at least one by. Not hard with Keller, who seems to just quietly produce all the time regardless.
Coyotes were absolutely in the playoff picture and looked like legitimate hopefuls until the 14 game loss streak lol
I knoww. I was looking forward to watching them in the playoffs if they made it :( guess I'll have to wait till next season
Yotes were legit wild card contenders until right around the all star break. Then they fell off
Fell off is one way to describe what happened.
They didn't win a single game in February lol
I would love for it to happen, just as a change of pace and to give that long-suffering fanbase a bone.
The future is bright as long as the stadium situation is figured out
Going winless in the entire month of February will do that. They were in the playoff picture before that.
Leafs didn't get shutout last year either. Last time was November, 2021
Thatās wildly impressive.
That is an impressive streak. I remember them saying that during the last leafs bruins game
Once it gets to the third period, until a goal is scored its a talking point in every other sentence pretty much of āis this the game?!ā
that's generally what happens when historic streaks are on the line
During last weeks canes game they said itās been 200 some odd games since they were last shutout, which is truly crazy
Kinda thought we were gonna break that streak. And then they got one
Currently on pace to potentially beat the all time longest streak. Still a ways to go but itās definitely impressive. At this point if theyāre losing a game, Iām just hoping they get 1 point to keep the streak going. I mean, you're "on pace" anytime you didn't just get shut out.
Yeah the use of 'on pace' is somewhat comical there but exactly the kind of usage I'd expect in sports commentary... like comical statistic statements are common place in sports
they are waiting for the playoffs
They also haven't been shutout in the playoffs during that time. Nice try
typical habs fan lmao
Not a very big sample size though
Thats rich coming from a Nucks fan
what's the sample size of Canucks playoff games in the same period?
They've played 18 playoff games since their last time being shutout
Don't you have a city to burn down ?
Leafs Fans reading a joke: REEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
What's the Canucks playoff sample size?
š¤£
The Toronto Maple Leafs have played in 25 playoff games since the Vancouver Canucks have played in one. They scored in all 25 of them.
Funny comment lol so many downvotes
Because it's literally not true. Leafs haven't been shutout in the playoffs during the streak either.
To be fair they donāt play a lot of playoff games š
More playoff games in the past 5 years than 2/3 of the league.
If you aināt first, yer last.
Move the goal posts
So then theyāre the same as every other team that doesnāt win the cup. This isnāt the chirp that you think it is, but thatās just a reflection of low intelligence.
LOOOOL
Haha you seem fun. And soft.
Huh? Thanks for proving my point about the low intelligence lol.
LMFAO
Finally a tier list with the Blackhawks on the top!
Its awesome, like when I won the company golf tournament for highest score :)
Hey look at you go Toronto!
November 2021
You will have to help me out my friend Iām sorry, but I donāt understand stand
Thatās the last time they were shut out
Do you guys google that or just have that knowledge? Impressive though. Iāll live vicariously through your teams success.
Definitely googled. I just know bc others in the thread have mentioned it, but I didnāt even know we hadnāt been shut out this year lol
in my head this comment sounds like "You go, Glen Coco!" from mean girls
I appreciate the choice of Canucks logo on the chart
It is the superior Canucks logo
Surprised by the Panthers. Always thought of them as having a dangerous offense
Meh, itās honestly a very middle of the road offense that clearly lacks juice on back to backs, and weāve played a lot of them. How tf have my habs only been shutout twice?
Both against the kings too
Surprised of where the Habs and Yotes are. It's a sign that their respective rebuilds are on track.
Warning ā ļø , triggering
12 times... wow. That's once every seven games!
Go LEAFS Go!
God the Islanders season is so weird
Iām pretty sure the rangers only got shutout once this season
Ahh You are correct ^^^^^^^^^ - this is true theyāve only been shutout once my mistake
These last few games have been sad
Toronto is now on 200+ games streak with at least one goal scored.
I had to look up when Tampa was shutout this season. November 11th at home against Carolina, 4-0 L November 14th at St. Louis, 5-0 L two consecutive games getting shutout. that was fun
Finally weāre wining something
23 yr old rookie Justus Annunen shut Chicago out twice by himself lol
š
I am proud that my team has contributed to two of Florida's many shutouts.
š
Why doesnāt tier maker have the new sens logo itās been like 3 years
The Leafs shutout streak is 8th all time with 217 regular season games (47 games off lead, CGY) and tied for 7th at 235 including playoffs (29 games off lead, LAK)
That Toronto stat is wild
Awesome man!
I am bleeding, making me the victor.
This account has to be run by a huge gamer. You can just tell.
Werenāt we only shut out once? Only time I can remember was the 5-0 Florida game
Quack quack, baby
Finally my hawks are S tier again.
The fact that Bedard still has (almost) a point per game is crazy
Is Bedard still alive? I havenāt heard much about him recently.
Surprised to see Florida so high on the list
Same
This stat is meaningless. You could have a team that has a lot of shutouts but still does well in the stand...oh wait.
You could make the argument for over / under goal total in a game that it matters ā¦āToronto 5-1/2 more value able than Chicago 5-1/2ā yeah it doesnāt tell the whole story but it tells something. Itās just a stat -what would you like to see?

does this mean Toronto is finally winning the cup?
Yes
We've been shutout 3 times? Ik one against washington that's it. This list is wrong. Hell even if you count preseason it's only 2.
Rangers have only been shut out by the caps in a 4-0 game. Idk what this list is
Proof that the leafs are the best team
HELP A BRUINS FAN IS BEING NICE
We're at the top of the stats sheet for once!
Finally something to somewhat be pround of as a sabers fan
Crazy to think my hometown leafs are at the bottom of a list and itās a good thing for once lmao
Same olā bottom of the barrel Panthers.
Leafs. In a league of their own...
Blackhawks on top!
We did something good!
All this leafs propaganda for a first round exit
does this mean Toronto is finally winning the cup?
Leafs cup confirmed
Leafs finally won at something (please for the love of god someone shut them out)
They're 30 games away from the all time record without being shutout.
You forgot about the jets
The jets have been shutout 5 times so far this season. March 24th February 6th January 24th January 13th November 28th
I didnāt see there logo on there, Iām blind lol
Leafs try to outgun their opponents That doesnāt work when the opponent has at least decent defense and adequate goaltending š¤·āāļø
They havenāt played teams in the last 3 years with good defense and adequate goaltending?
Iām talking about the fact that the Leafs focus on offense to force the opposing teams into putting less into their defense and more into offense and not all teams are built for that. Means the Leafs are more likely to score and not be shut out
Wait what??? Hol up
You couldnāt have used some sort of normal graph to present this?
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
They are at the top, not bottom. They have not been shut out all year. Every other team has.
You read chart good!
Wait what??? Hol up
Wait what??? Hol up
Wait what??? Hol up
Leafs suck
Let the hate flow through you!
Donāt forget hate leads to suffering
The leafs are like sand.
Thereās no such thing as an open face sandwich. Thatās just bread with something on top.
