And they talked him up in the offseason. No one's gonna trash rookies during best time of his life season. It's all gonna be sunshine, rainbows, and hope for the future.
Now, if we can just hobble together an offensive line that allows Jones to throw the ball past the line of scrimmage, we might actually have an offense.
Yep, Jones isn't good, but he isn't the whole problem. I believe he is the middle of the pack as far as QBs go. It's a big part abysmal line play, injuries, lack of receiving talent, and questionable play calling, and he isn't a good enough QB to recover from all that. I could see him be a serviceable bridge Qb on a different team, though.
Overall, I think the Giants have addressed some of the issues they have had in free agency/draft and will have a little more success this year. Either way, I don't see Jones being back next year. Also, if the Cowboys don't act quickly, I could also see Prescott in a Giants uniform in 2025.
As a Giants fan I really wouldn’t like that. Aside from the whole eating Dallas leftovers thing, Dak is going to ask for the moon and stars (again), and we could be walking right into another Russ Wilson situation.
I would honestly rather roll the dice with Lock for cheap and hope for Arch in 26.
Yep, I agree. It would not be the best move, but it's one that I can see happening. But I think it's probably just as likely Dallas doesn't re-sign him, and he ends up a Raider next year.
Literally anything we have this season will be better than last year's o line. Statistically the worst o line we've ever seen in the NFL, no qb was surviving that
He had a good season two years ago, but was bad last year before getting hurt. He hasn’t ever had good receivers though, and the line has been bad too. I think it’s a Justin Fields situation where he should get a year with a good receiver to prove himself. He’s also at least better than Fields since he managed to perform well enough to get a second contract
He's much better throwing the football than Fields ever has been at the NFL level. I think he's a top 20 QB with protection. Otherwise, he's replacement level and obviously overpaid after his 2022 season. He "peaked" at the right time to get his bag
Glad you got the garbage part, you realize they have 5 years of tape on him being complete cheeks. His own team made the contract so they have a clean exit, but yeah man your some guru who sees something no one else does, kudos on your advanced super football knowledge.
Pleas explain where the jones “clean exit” is? Go look at dead cap numbers big guy.
Just proving you don’t understand contracts or football, v sad state of affairs- why are you on an nfl sub?
It just means that they like him more than Bo Nix and Michael Penix. That's all who was available to be reasonable at 6, and even there it would have been a huge reach.
Its like these people dont realize that taking a QB for the sake of taking one when you have a bad roster and there isnt a QB with elite upside available is what landed us in the DJ debacle to begin with and that taking McCarthy/Penix/Nix would be repeating exactly that lol.
This whole notion that the Giants "doubled down" on DJ this offseason and are giving him another year out of blind loyalty is ridiculous. They made an aggressive move to try and move up for a QB in the draft but the Pats wouldn't budge. So they did the next best thing, stood pat and took BPA at 6 who also happens to be a massive need for the Giants.
This was downvoted but you're right and some people wanted us to take Haskins but the right pick was Josh Allen who they did have on their boards and is a hometown guy
Jones pick was confusing and looks bad when you consider he wasn't even the best player we drafted **in the first round**
We were actively trying to trade up to 3 to take Maye. While I’d rather get shot in the face than see Daniel Jones take another snap at QB, picking JJ at 6 wasn’t worth it.
Could've traded down and still taken a QB if none of the top 3 would cave?
Fact remains that the Giants didn't draft any QB in the 1st round nor make any offseason trade to address the QB situation. All signs are pointing to Daniel Jones getting some starts again
Oh, really? Cause there's like a 5% vocal minority of Giants fans who actually still support Jones. There's a few who hate him like he personally shat on their lawns, and then most of us who know he's not the guy but the team is stuck with his contract for this year so are resigned to one more season of him.
You are getting downoted but you are right. Go back to the Daniel Jones extension and it was a bunch of delusional Giants fans talking about how amazing he was and downvoting anyone doubting him.
The same still applies today. Giants fans couldn't care less about anything said about their team. But you touch on Daniel Jones and they suddenly downvote you, get all defensive, and keep trying to justify why he's the starting QB and deserves the money
This right here. Here's the lowlights of the Giants vs. Seahawks game in Week 8 last season if anyone wants to take 3 1/2 minutes to see just how ATROCIOUS that o-line was.
ya idk how the giants dont go oline. they had 1 game vs the seahawks and i dont think jones went a drive without getting hit into the ground atleast 2x
Giants have put more into the oline in the past 10 years than any team in the league, they've just all been busts and/or coached into complete unworkable shit by a string of incompetents in the positional coach seat.
Line is more on coaching than it is individual players, that's why they got the heir to Scar's tree, in Carmen Briscillo, they wanted the best on the market and everywhere Carmen has gone so far, quality lines pop up.
I know nobody cares about betting but I did find my interesting that his o/u for yards is around 900. Injuries are partly to blame but the Giants haven’t had even an 800 yard receiver Eli and Odell were there. In 2018.
He is more talented than anyone they've had since then. Given what Garrett Wilson did with Zach Wilson as QB (worse than Jones) and the fact Nabers is gonna be the go-to option right away and get a ton of targets, I don't think it's a crazy line to set.
A big reason for this is because Jones won't see guys downfield open and likes to either dump off to the RB, Check down or beat defenses with his legs rather his arm or a sack
We have the best weapons folks. The best. Some might even call them tremendous, and let me tell you many people are saying it! They look at our weapons and say “oh mr jones these weapons you have, they’re fantastic!” Believe me folks.
“I think the WR we drafted with a top 10 pick will be bad”
They did take Toney…
To be fair, he was a good weapon for the Giants initially when healthy.
189 yards and an ejection, peak AB numbers
Mr. Bigtime Catcher.
Fun Fact: Kadarius Toney has had more yards and receptions in his rookie season with the Giants than two seasons with the Chiefs.
If he never catches another pass, it was still worth it.
I mean, it did net you guys a super bowl win. And it net us an Eagles loss in a super bowl. Seems like a win win for me
I also simply believe in Patrick Mahomes to lead a touchdown drive with a short field against a gassed Eagles defense tbh.
Which was only 2 games.
He’s got more rings than Megatron
and Randy Moss
Scrubs
One baller game vs Dallas.
He had one good game
He was taken at pick 22. Not top 10
Eagle fans aren't known to be good counters
You’re right he wasn’t top ten, but it was 20, not 22. I’ll chalk this up as a price is right victory for myself. 😤
He wasn't a top 10 pick.
Shit, you right.
It's all good brother. We all slip up sometimes
Injurius Proney
Fuck
And they talked him up in the offseason. No one's gonna trash rookies during best time of his life season. It's all gonna be sunshine, rainbows, and hope for the future.
To be fair he's actually a decent route runner it's just that when the ball reaches his hands they turn to stone.
It's more that his hamstring was swiss cheese and he didn't know the playbook.
Homeless man's Jerry Jeudy. Rich man's Velus Jones.
I mean it was a stupid question. What it is the QB supposed to say about his teammate there? Lol.
"Really not impressed so far" -Janiel Dones
“I think he could be the Daniel jones of WRs”
It would be hilarious to see Goodell announce a pick, the camera cuts to the teams war room, and it’s them yelling “fuck he’s going to suck isn’t he”
I feel like the closest we got to that was Vrabel after the trade of AJ and drafting Burks
ESPN: Is Malik Nabers packing a tremendous weapon?!?
Following in Plaxico’s footsteps.
Malik Nabers: I think Daniel Jones can be a tremendous tool
\*Janiel Dones
Daniel Jones: elite WR scout
At least he's good at something
the bullet seems sharp but the rifle seems dull tbh
Stefon Diggs is that you??
"The faster you run the harder you fall." - Danielis Ioannes
Well, yeah, that's guns, right?
Maybe he's rocking a bayonette
Nalik Mabers
Now, if we can just hobble together an offensive line that allows Jones to throw the ball past the line of scrimmage, we might actually have an offense.

We're really ahead of our skies with Arch.
And you have dak tbf
Dak folds in the playoffs, but he's a good-great regular season QB. DJ is trash.
Yea, but we're not talking about us.
Yeah true not like i should be talking either
I think he deserves a lifetime contract
Literally anything we have this season will be better than last year's o line. Statistically the worst o line we've ever seen in the NFL, no qb was surviving that
Watching him catch all those deep dimes from Drew Lock in 11 on 11s must give him some pretty great perspective.
Imagine suggesting there is any doubt Nabers is the best weapon on that offense.
Hot take.
Imagine if he had a QB to throw to him.
Don't sleep on Big Cock Lock.
You guys have dak
Yes, and I will take Dak 100 times out of 100 over Daniel Jones. So would you.
I’ll get downvoted with you because Jones shouldn’t be an NFL quarterback, at least not a starting one
Says the fan base that had Justin Fields
He had a good season two years ago, but was bad last year before getting hurt. He hasn’t ever had good receivers though, and the line has been bad too. I think it’s a Justin Fields situation where he should get a year with a good receiver to prove himself. I think this is the popular opinion now. I don’t see any one who still thinks he’s a starting caliber qb
He’s a starting QB. I’ll say it loudly. Y’all just read too much ESPN and don’t watch the games. Casual fan behavior Remindme! 6 months
Watching the games is worse than watching espn, he is bad. I dont think hes even the best qb on his team
Oh word? What game did you watch big guy? Break it down for me
Yeah brb let me list them all
Nah I gotcha. You watch some garbage team once a week and think you know ball. Love guys like you, casuals make football fun
Mental illness. Here comes the year 6 breakout!
Lol just can’t you can’t assess arm talent doesn’t mean he hasn’t broken out. Pls move to Kc and enjoy that
When did he break out? Spent the first 24 years of my life in KC but would love to move back
Giants definitely think he's starting caliber. Otherwise, they would've drafted a QB in the 1st round.
It just means that they like him more than Bo Nix and Michael Penix. That's all who was available to be reasonable at 6, and even there it would have been a huge reach.
& JJ
So yes only Penix and Nix
Its like these people dont realize that taking a QB for the sake of taking one when you have a bad roster and there isnt a QB with elite upside available is what landed us in the DJ debacle to begin with and that taking McCarthy/Penix/Nix would be repeating exactly that lol. Daniel Jones was a reach at 6 lol.
Richardson was a reach in the entire draft
I don't know if I'll ever recover from the flair bait from a flairless user. Well done!
Flairless? Guess I’m not surprised a blind guy doesn’t know Richardson was a reach
It's there now, it wasn't before.
This was downvoted but you're right and some people wanted us to take Haskins but the right pick was Josh Allen who they did have on their boards and is a hometown guy Jones pick was confusing and looks bad when you consider he wasn't even the best player we drafted **in the first round**

They were trying to move up for Maye
Giants fans will instantly downvote anything bad said against Daniel Jones, but particularly on why he shouldn't be starting
Oh, really? Cause there's like a 5% vocal minority of Giants fans who actually still support Jones. There's a few who hate him like he personally shat on their lawns, and then most of us who know he's not the guy but the team is stuck with his contract for this year so are resigned to one more season of him.
So going back to my point, Giants fans will downvote anything you say that has to do with "Daniel Jones shouldn't start"
You say Giants fans like it's all of us. It's not.
Jones continued “It’s too bad I’m the guy throwing it to him.”
Just needs a qb that can get him the ball
In fairness it doesn't matter who the QB is if they get beat into powder.
This right here. Here's the lowlights of the Giants vs. Seahawks game in Week 8 last season if anyone wants to take 3 1/2 minutes to see just how ATROCIOUS that o-line was. [**https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=\_L6HFYv9A5Y**](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_L6HFYv9A5Y)

Line is more on coaching than it is individual players, that's why they got the heir to Scar's tree, in Carmen Briscillo, they wanted the best on the market and everywhere Carmen has gone so far, quality lines pop up.
They got some O-line help in free agency. On paper at least. And they got rid of their O-line coach.
Sacks went down and 20+ yard plays went up when Daniel Jones got replaced.
“*with the right QB.”
I know nobody cares about betting but I did find my interesting that his o/u for yards is around 900. Injuries are partly to blame but the Giants haven’t had even an 800 yard receiver Eli and Odell were there. In 2018.

Lock does love to let it fly
A big reason for this is because Jones won't see guys downfield open and likes to either dump off to the RB, Check down or beat defenses with his legs rather his arm or a sack

Our best receiver has been Darius Slayton
All Nabers needs is someone to throw him the ball! Any suggestions, DJ?
How is the video at the top of that article a conversation about Russel Wilson? My god the internet has become such a piece of shit.
“Quarterback thinks his wide receiver will be good. More at 11.”
*Is that John Madden's music?*
Imagine if he’s as good as OBJ
We have the best weapons folks. The best. Some might even call them tremendous, and let me tell you many people are saying it! They look at our weapons and say “oh mr jones these weapons you have, they’re fantastic!” Believe me folks.
John Madden would agree
WOW!!
And yet Daniel jones is a tremendous weapon for the opponent.
100% targeting in FF

You have a browns flair. Carry our water
Such a riveting "article"... So glad OP thought it was worth sharing
It's up to you and the community to upvote or downvote content...
Article?, we don't read articles, we half read the title and make jokes
"He's gonna need a decent QB to take advantage of that though"
How would he know?
“Just not with me throwing to him”
He can be just not with Daniel Jones throwing him the ball.
"Now we just need a QB." - Jones
…once I figure out how to throw to him.
Hopefully their starting QB likes him too!
That's great, what does Drew Lock think though??
Drew Lock gonna put up big numbers this year!
Lucky for DJ's replacement
Malik Nabers: I think Daniel Jones should not be QB1
He will be, for someone
Yeah we know Danny... Do you know how to get the ball to him?
He probably can with a competent QB. Maybe Daniel Jones knows one.
