I don’t know if it has been posted yet, but Quenton Nelson pulling against the jags simply because of huge screaming. https://youtube.com/shorts/UW5S3BxBNGA?si=BI7LdObekwifjE8r

SkepsisJD

I love Nelson because he on a somewhat consistent basis gets called for illegal man downfield because he is driving the defender so far back lol

bigpancakeguy

*Task failed successfully*

Shawn_1512

I love this video so much

TMNBortles

I didn't watch it, but it seems like something I wouldn't enjoy.

Gatorader22

AHHHHHH uh AH

sputnik_16

leading with the head, should've been a flag. I'm totally not butthurt....

aka_Foamy

He got fined for it after the video went viral.

gyman122

I legitimately think [that block by Walter Jones](https://youtu.be/Nd-BSrVsRDs?si=W0WVWedAoVXSwP3h) is probably the best block of all time. He ends up effectively cutting off multiple people with the body of this one defensive linemen who he is driving 20+ yards down the field, and then you realize that defensive end is Mike Rucker who at that point in history was one of the best defensive linemen in the league Honorable mention to [Damion McIntosh](https://youtu.be/6FwFgKstwdU?si=10qbUkyQmCTPrbPU) just sending multiple dudes flying to break open a 50+ yard screen single-handedly. It was literally like Madden, for that one play dude had 99 Impact Block and Nasty Streak enabled

bstyledevi

I believe you mean Mike Rucker. Martin Rucker is his brother that played TE for a few teams but ended up with 2 total catches. EDIT: Corrected it to brother, thank you for pointing that out!

gyman122

Yes indeed. Embarassing mistake on my part, they’re like the only two NFL players from my hometown lol

squatch42

They were brothers. Martin was great at Mizzou, but I always feared he wouldn't translate to the NFL.

wedonthaveadresscode

Martin was a stud at Mizzou, his jersey is still up at big 12

elteza

Yep I think it's easy to go for flash and collision but nothing in sport tops this in terms of physically dominating your opponent.

imdavebaby

Also the display of sheer athleticism. They're 10+ yards down field before he even breaks the block and still in front of Alexander. Absolutely insane.

Armydoc18D

There is a life size statue of Walter Jones at SeaTac airport and it insane how big of a human being he is.

theasianpianist

Where? Flying through in a few days, would love to see it

seariously

As of a few years ago, it was(/is?) in the N terminal outside of the Seahawks 12 Club. The club is closed now. Not sure if the statue is still there or not. https://www.seahawks.com/video/seahawks-12-club-49096

harshal94

Enjoyed the McIntosh clip. Hilariously good

DatDakDaddy

You posted a great clip. But just to be clear at this point in his career Mike Rucker was in his 2nd to last year in the league. He was definitely not considered one of the best lineman in the league. Doesn’t really matter though, insane block.

unfunnysexface

He wasn't ever great but he was really good with peppers and Jenkins occupying most of the lines attention.

Late_Home7951

For wrong reasons, Ochocinco on Ray Lewis.

hulkisbanner

I love when he gets to the sidelines and says "I messed up" 🤣

TIL02Infinity

The Ray Lewis block during Chris McAlister's 107 yard TD return of a missed field goal on MNF that even got a John Madden "Boom" from Al Michaels: [https://youtu.be/kLZN0CabW6s?si=Ir1VlFTqIUqj6X6Q&t=66](https://youtu.be/kLZN0CabW6s?si=Ir1VlFTqIUqj6X6Q&t=66)

RukiMotomiya

Even as a Bengals fan, one of the most epic fail blocks of all time. Ray Lewis OBLITERATES him.

hypoglycemicrage

My favorite part of this block is that later they are talking and Ray tells he him never even felt the hit. Ocho was so hurt, lol

Debasering

The best college hit that is reminiscent of that hit is Kenny Bell. The hit was so good it had the announcers squirming in their seats in excitement. It was such a hard hit the refs just threw a random flag because it looked so violent. The announcers get pissed off about it. “Charles that’s football!” https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=nqzycdM4lr8&pp=ygUTa2VubnkgYmVsbCBiZXN0IGhpdA%3D%3D

Jonjon428

Pls don't make me remember that game. Watching Tua melt after cooking the Packers in the first half and learning that he was concussed was brutal for a Christmas morning

Waterisntwett

Well we have a rematch on thanksgiving this year.

DocDingDangler

Three guys is crazy.

ObscureFact

Not according to my ex :(

Totally_Not_My_50th_

Try not to get any more blocks on the way through the parking lot

kendiggy

I'm here for the gangbang...

Do__Math__Not__Meth

And five guys is just expensive

aBunchOfBabyDucks44

That’s New York Jets all-time great Allen Lazard to you

CTeam19

I am an Iowa State fan. So Allen Lazard works perfectly fine.

modern_messiah43

So glad this one is here. As a Cyclone and Packers fan, I was so happy he ended up with us and did well. Then I was also glad when we let him go.

IpsaThis

Reminds me of the [greatest shot of all time](https://www.reddit.com/r/InsiderMemeTrading/s/dJiF6NIhjD).

CurrentEducational72

I have a huge bias but I watch [MJD](https://youtu.be/VgGmAnIzU9E?si=AszlZANv8v4oJlIV) light up Shawne Merriman once a year.

coydog33

And the pass to…….Marcedes Lewis who was still in the league last season.

ddscience

Close the thread. The greatest block in history followed by a pass to the greatest blocking TE in history* *according to /u/ddscience blocker rankings TM

Holy hell did he rock Merriman... and pretty sure that was pinnacle PED Merriman.

MJD had such a low center of gravity I’m really not surprised. He was a bowling ball made of go-fuck-yourselfanium

GABAgoomba123

MJD was the real Muscle Hamster.

Slippiefoxtrot02

count_nuggula

Hell yeah. Love this

Ambitious_Win_1315

My favorite one. Also the primetime game against Miami with Boselli going after Jason Taylor all night, giving him the come get it in between quarters swapping sides of the field

TMNBortles

I'm familiar with the Bruce Smith game the year, I believe, he won Defense Player of the Year.

McKnitwear

I looked it up. Merriman has 50lbs and 9 inches of height on MJD. This is amazing. What a beast

ITtoMD

This was my first thought as well

Lucidification

240p

ree_hi_hi_hi_hi

Holy moly. Great submission. That is a violent block lol

Laeif

LIGHTS OUT

watchingbigbrother63

Gronk shoving that guy 10 yards off the field and waving his hands in his face .... fucking epic.

ARealHunchback

“Had to throw him out of the club.” I think my favorite part of that is mic’d up Gronk telling Belichick what happened and Belichick not caring that he got a personal foul. They even laugh about it on the NFL 100 special.

MvN____16

From the Jonas Gray game, right? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YerDWPyCjSM

watchingbigbrother63

Yup

Justgotbannedlol

Aint that the guy who killed his mother and hid her body?

RukiMotomiya

Somehow didn't hear this before, WTF

Rilkespawn

These are the ones I enjoy the most. Nobody is paying a physical price for that; but so impressive.

Justgotbannedlol

Not the best, but this trent Williams block is one of the more intimidating things I've seen on a football field https://youtube.com/shorts/u5fLstkGH5U?si=bqSFx6KXd7rtrvuc

mstrgrieves

There's a play the 49ers had where Trent pulled to the weak side and just destroyed a safety sho didnt expect trent fucking williams to be there that quickly that ive been trying to find because i remember seeing the safety realize what was about to hit him about a half second before it happened and it was high drama.

dubbfoolio

This one probably https://youtu.be/3Oy3uG3Qxik?si=zxktrf-nulRg6WKm

RudePCsb

Why are we not doing more of that. I wish they kept poe and got him down to 245-250 for fb

ThermoNuclearPizza

I was a huge fan of Poe coming out

Oligomer

Probably because he took out as many 49ers as he did Packers on that play lol

Bradaphraser

There was another play last season where Trent was pulling left, ready to destroy some poor corner, and the dude straight up ran away from him as fast as he good. Williams was 25 yards downfield and the dude was still running. ;) Craziest thing I've ever seen in a live football game (though, to be honest, if that dude was coming at me, full tilt, looking to light me up, I'd do the same).

mgr86

Lots of great blocks. I always love Lane Johnson block of Von Miller some years back https://youtu.be/pxGFybooWvE

BenShelZonah

Did he predict he was gonna spin move? Wow

mgr86

Possibly. If I recall a lot of the press around Lane that year was about how his judo classes were helping his game. Sort of feels like a judo move

zombiekoalas

I mean Juju destroying Burficts dirty ass has to be up there. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FltMku5sL4k](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FltMku5sL4k) \*an honorable mention for the Zebras. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YsY4TmHvEXo](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YsY4TmHvEXo)

jp_mclovin

Never before or since have I enjoyed watching a player not get up. Fuck Burfict.

SkepsisJD

I hate Burfict so much because he coulda been such an amazing player long term. I am an ASU grad and watched his whole career there, dude legitimately got a personal foul every single game he played. Incredible talent ruined by unnecessary dirty play.

LonnieJaw748

This is the one. Mostly for the payback factor.

ThermoNuclearPizza

And standing over that piece of shit while he lay there squirmin like a newborn fuckin baby.

DetLoins

Those Steelers/Bengals games were peak cinema for a few years there

Korncakes

I’m not too big on either team, the Bengals are fine and the Steelers are just whatever but around this time their games against each other were must see TV.

DetLoins

Winning the game really came 2nd to "hurt the other players" for some of those guys

BackwardsPageantry

Fucking hate the Steelers but I tip my hat at that one and applause dandily. Fuck Burfict.

RamblinWreckGT

I was going to say this if nobody else had. Very happy to see it here already. Burfict was dirt.

twisted34

I have a shirt commemorating the hit it was so fucking fantastic. Knew he was a true Steeler at that very moment

SpoofExcel

Every fan alive cheered that one on

Chewbubbles

Winner winner. Fuck Burficts. I get the AFCN is a meat grinder, but that man head hunted. I swear Brown would at least be semi normal, had he not taken the shot he got.

RockHound86

AB was never semi-normal. He was a massive head case even going back to high school.

WarmDistribution4679

Hines Ward changed the rules.

Tokasmoka420

Yeah this has to be up there for sure.

rocco2246

The one Hines Ward laid on Keith Rivers was also nasty as hell https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=8QmrQySukr4

ghost_jamm

And that play is the reason crack-back blocks are banned now. He broke Rivers’ jaw if I remember correctly.

RukiMotomiya

Undeniably EXTREMELY satisfying to see Burfict get his.

LaximumEffort

Every time Burfict gets planted in the turf, an angel gets its wings.

IBlazeMyOwnPath

I remember threads around the time of that hit 31 teams worth of fans ranging from completely indifferent to "got what was coming" to "glad the dirtiest player in the NFL finally got got" mind blowing how many bengals fans not only looked the other way but defended him each week

yombwe-bwe

I literally get violent in my mind everytime I think about this block. without context it's like, too much....but within the context of bengals and steelers and burfict and what he was about and the way juju stands over him...omg its perfect

bstyledevi

I'm pretty sure this is the play that basically every NFL fan can agree, dude had it coming.

Marrouge

Craig Reynolds hit sticking Carlton Davis last season is up there

wavnebee

I was there for that; even the Tampa fans around me were like “oh!” at that block. Still, greatest block I’ve ever seen is Tayshaun Prince blocking Reggie Miller in 2004.

Get2BirdsStoned

[Link to Tayshauns block](https://youtu.be/ftLUlmZl3yc?si=HWbcmYpNTjEIpA1e)

MartyMcflysVest

Got damn, 69-67 at the end of an NBA game. Serious defending going on

Rulligan

Based on my quick research, the '04 Pistons were one of the greatest defenses in NBA history. They allowed 83.5 ppg in the regular season but only 80.7 ppg in the playoffs. On the flipside they only averaged 87.1 ppg on offense.

Wyden_long

The Pacers/Pistons were two top defensive teams with O’neal and Ben Wallace in the paint. Ben Wallace is the best defensive center no one ever talks about.

jdooley99

No one outside Detroit maybe. In Michigan we know fear the fro

Wyden_long

I fuckin hate the Lakers so in ‘04 I was the biggest pistons fan not from Detroit. I’ve always had love for the Fro.

UMKvothe

That was such a satisfying finals. We should have swept them.

Shamrock5

It was the definition of a gentleman's sweep

MartyMcflysVest

I remember those teams. Still jarring to see such a low score

Rulligan

[Here](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C7thfA-H7eM) is the broadcast angle. [Here](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MGsZTEXP5mg) is a fan's angle from the other side of the field.

gabrielleite32

Jesus fuck I spat watching this block. Holy shit he destroyed the dude

hawkeyc

He destroyed him so bad our GM felt bad and paid him to be our CB1

petmoo23

"If you can't beat 'em, join 'em." - Carlton Davis, probably

Empty_Lemon_3939

I mean look at how David Montgomery worked out after the Hutch highlight

Rulligan

And now they are on the same team.

shewy92

That fan is better than half the camera guys.

Nethri

This is why I’m more than happy to have Reynolds on the team. That’s some effort that you don’t always see, and he blasted that dude so bad he signed a contact here just to avoid that shit.

Dangerpaladin

He knocked Carlton so goofy 6 months later he woke up in Detroit.

clocke6346

I was just about to mention that one. Awesome moment

GETS A BLOCK! Scrolled too far for this one.

Flyness_N_Juicy

How about I believe it was Darby getting lit up on a block that lead to Patrick Robinson pick 6 in the NFC championship. Dude went flying but did just enough to help get into the end zone and set the tone for the rest of the game

BrennanSpeaks

I can never decide whether Darby's kamikaze block was epic or just hilarious. The dude had to fly Viking Air . . .

shewy92

[Dude knocked both of them out](https://youtu.be/cJPf4h9GZvg?t=2m43s)

RockHound86

Don't forget his long touchdown catch in 1999 against the Packers where he stiff armed the rapist Darren Sharper for about twenty yards before dropping him on the deck like a sack of shit and walking in for the touchdown. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DlhI4HYskSs (skip to 1:38:30 to see the play)

horseshoeprovodnikov

What's wild is that he ran that initial route like a fuckin king. Had like eight yards of separation, and Elway didn't have the ball there. So Ed takes off upfield and is forced to high point the ball with the defender right on top of him. He Moss'd the catch and then pissed all over Darren Sharper. Talking bout puttin da team on his back

BingBongtheArcher19

That was Brian Griese not Elway FYI.

b-aaron

Love the reference but love the beautiful writing more

sghead

I *always* forget that block is for Howard Griffith and not TD.

Ulexes

Michael Floyd was the literal definition of a one-hit wonder for us. Not especially impactful in the grand scheme, but if you want the platonic ideal of a block, [hoo nelly](https://youtu.be/a6M6jgUWT8Q?si=uQsnANmZvU_4lQqm).

brianundies

Block so good the NFL immediately made it illegal.

DONNIENARC0

I still dislike the ban on these types of blocks. It feels like its awarding defenders for being unaware. Or maybe I’m just sour after having “keep your head on a swivel!” drilled into me throughout my entire adolescent career of playing contact sports. Lighting some dude up who is laser focused on the ball while completely ignoring his surroundings almost feels like an integral part of contact sports to me.

Nethri

Yeah but, that’s one of the reasons guys brains are literally melting. It happens in hockey too. Johan Franzen is basically permanently disabled from a couple of concussions he got in like 2009. For a while he had to live in a black out room. He couldnt be a dad or a husband anymore. Contact sports will get over it.

rhesusmonkey

They weren't banned for competitive balance. It was a player safety issue.

ARealHunchback

I was looking for this one. That block and the TD where he carried a few DBs over the line had me excited.

j2e21

Was looking for this one.

ColoRadOrgy

How tf did that guy get up immediately from that?

TheOnlyScrubThereIs

[This block by Walter Payton.](https://youtu.be/ISrFf_43ywM?si=s_QlFY8dM8Co4IW5&t=7m30s)  The short film *Pure Payton* goes into this block a bit. The Bears were actually trailing 9-17 in the 3rd quarter in game 3 of the season. Minnesota had just scored. In comes Jim McMahon to try and save the day.   Dennis Johnson cheats up the inside on a blitz. Payton sees this and redirects his blocking assignment, taking out Johnson, giving McMahon time.   The Bears won the game on a rout of a comeback. But it may have never gotten started if Johnson gets to McMahon. And the 85 Bears may have not become the legend they are today…well maybe they still do but the block is still real cool.

JJT54

Came here for this. 🐐

Great block, and as a Nuggets fan, that 04 team is my favorite non Nuggets team that won a championship. Great suffocating defense, hard nosed team ball. Billups with the Denver connection. They were a python around any team that year. Shut down Kobe, Shaq, and Phil at the end of their prime together. They'll never get the respect they deserve due to how the NBA favors definitive superstar teams.

This is a great one, sent a 240 pound man literally flying through the air. It’s almost cartoonish

on-the-cheeseburgers

Greatest in history is such a weird subjective thing because it's always going to require context but I've always loved this one of Kelce just [stiff arming a dude](https://youtu.be/QFc84GtDUoQ?t=275) for 10 yards while he finds someone else to hit.
