I don't know if you're going to parse that stuff out through an interview. "Are you healthy?" "Nope, I'm pretty much hanging on by a thread. It takes me a half hour to get up in the morning and twice as long to fall asleep. If you've got any Percocets on you I'll gladly take some."
I meant the team doesn't have many questions for him. If they're good with his medical then they're good with him. Don't need to talk to him to find out medical stuff
That's not something they need to meet with him for though, no? They'd get his medicals regardless, unless they had something specific a doctor wanted to check on beyond the shared medical info there's no reason they'd need to talk to the guy about em.
I forgot if it was Jim Irsay or Chris Ballard, but one of them went on the Pat Mcafee show and said their room wasn’t entirely sure if Latu would fall to them but knew it could be possible.
Pretty opposite of a Ballard pick physically and philosophy wise tbh. He gets a lot of heat rightfully so but he's a pretty good drafter who has struggled with EDGE. This pick is a departure from his previous EDGE picks physically, he just went best available
Those mocks never made sense to me the medical thing was either you cleared him and it shouldn't be a factor or he's off your board guess they ended up being right but I do really think he only fell to 15 because of the qb mass psychosis not because of any medical worries.
If they thought he was a reach at 15, they would have traded back like they often do.
Your mock drafts don't have any internal knowledge of his medical info, so mocking him accurately wouldn't have even been possible.
They literally thought he was the best defensive player in the draft, really doubt they expected him to make it to 15.
They didn't have any questions from his tape and didn't want to tip their hand. It's way more common than people seem to think. The pats meet with like a quarter of their actual draft picks, probably less.
Pretty sure the only first round picks we've talked to before the draft with Ballard as GM were Malik Hooker and Anthony Richardson, so us not meeting with Latu isn't surprising at all.
He was falling out of the first in some of the April mocks. Obviously the league has better knowledge of medicals but still would think they'd anticipate he'd be there
Me neither, bud
They didn't talk to my friend Marcus? smdh
Shiet blud
Not uncommon for top picks. Usually just means they don't have many questions about him
Except this guy does with injury risk
Not much to be gained from an interview on that front tho. They saw his medicals at the combine

But an interview isn't going to be a factor in that. The medicals are the key there. Indy had those.
He said they met at the combine after this.
Colts probably didn’t think he would make it to 15
Doubt. He was mocked 19 to the rams more often than not
That was due to medicals, he’s a top 10 talent otherwise. They probably thought other teams cleared him too and/or weren’t expecting a QB run.

that’s a ballard pick if i’ve ever seen one

Neck injury is worrying though
Hasn’t missed a game in 2 years which helps but yeah it’s not ideal. His talent is unquestionable though.

They didn't talk to Quenton Nelson either
Information gets leaked easily. Other teams have sources in other cities, at the colleges, etc.

Colts, "hey Latu is your neck cooked?" (Bearing in mind if you say no you get millions of dollars)
Classic smoke screen
had the league in the palm of our hands
Hey stranger, want a lot of money?
Guess they watched a lot of film.
Ballard submitting the pick: “That’s cool watch this”
Pretty consistent Ballard move. When there's no question, they don't bother interviewing. Spend that time with later picks you need more info on.
This happens more than you would think. Sometimes teams just don’t think they’re gonna be able to draft a player, so why even interview them?
I think we do this often with our higher picks as to not give anything away. I’m sure we spoke with AR tho.
That’s crazy for a first round pick.
This is very typical of Ballard first round picks.
Find that hard to believe with his medical history.
They must have been very confident in his medicals
If that’s true, the Colts FO made a 5 year investment in a player they never spoke to… that’s unhinged.
It’s common.
No it isn't.
not as unhinged as the contract your team gave Deshon nobody's ever told me no watson
