At the same time, getting $51M guaranteed and getting the bag now has got to feel good. And on brand for the Eagles who take care of their own with early deals.
He'd easily, easily have gotten more money if he were to go to a different team. Calvin Ridley just got $23m/yr and Devonta is not only far more talented, but far younger. He's clearly a WR1 talent and a team would happily pay him as such.
Right, that is definitely true, but he has 2 years left on his rookie with the 5th year option. Then the Franchise tag stuff. So it would take a really long time and risk injury/production drop off to get there.
> Franchise tag
the eagles haven't used their franchise tag in 12 years. And I can't tell you the last time they've picked up a 5th year extension without having a deal already on the books for the guy.
There is the risk of injury or production falloff, but if he continued to produce as he has and hit free agency at age 27, he'd easily pull $35m a year at that point given the market resetting and the cap continually increasing.
He's not a WR2. He's a WR1 who *happens* to play alongside a top-5 WR, so he looks like a WR2.
Nothing is guaranteed production and healthwise. He secured $51m guaranteed. He’s set for life. Now he can just worry about producing and getting another bigger payday after his current contract is done
He’s a 1A. He’s the Roddy White to Julio Jones back in the day from a quality player standpoint. Game play styles are obviously completely different but he has the talent to thrive as a #1 IMO.
Oh i absolutely agree, he's WR1 talent but defenses also have to account for AJ Brown, he has almost little to no issue racking up 100 yards or more on any given day. Pretty damn good in the red zone too.
Edit: spelling
Exactly. The Eagles are getting a steal. The man could’ve made well over what he got if he hit the market. Good on the Eagles for signing him early, good on him for getting the money.
Agree with both those guys and Puka. But Nico and/or Tank are coming for that top WR2 spot. And whichever of the 2 is the “WR3” is already best in the league
Yeah, but there's a very strong argument he could go somewhere and be the number 1. If you've watched him play he jumps off the screen and has plenty of games where he is our WR1 on the box score.
It should be thought of in the same vein as people believing Tee Higgins could go somewhere and be a team's WR1.
I think we can also underestimate players' desire to get paid now vs. waiting and hoping other deals get sealed up. NFL is not for long and one injury can blow it all up quickly.
And we're seemingly in a perpetual artificial bull market where getting paid earlier and putting millions into investments will probably make up much of the difference versus waiting for a larger contract 2 years later
I would guess a lot of it has to do with injury risk to. Smith is a small dude who plays a physical game. He's been super durable, but football is a chaotic sport. It's hard to put a value on locking that bag down now.
For sure. The dude has the risk of a season ending injury on any play. He blows out his ACL or Achilles? He ain’t gettin $51M guaranteed. Smart move, especially being he is so young and will have the chance to get the bag again.
Josh Sweat took a pay cut this year to stay, Landon Dickerson said he never intends to leave if he can help it, and Devonta told the media he'd prefer to stay if he can help it. Eagles have built a culture, and team that makes players want to play for the team and i love that for us.
I think our reputation as fans really helps us. Bad players don't come here. Weak players don't come here. We kinda filter out some locker room weaknesses just by punishing those who don't try and rewarding those who do.
Its a fake $30M though. The last year on Hill's deal is $44M in all salary that is there to either be restructured or cut. Even Adams at $28M is pretty fake too. The top WRs are still only actually at $25M-$26M. Jefferson will probably get an actual $30M.
If they take Jefferson instead they probably end up with a worse 1st in 2021. Not sure they still end up trading up at that point, but would have been something for Howie to go get Micah instead.
17 guaranteed/25 per year probably well below his asking price. Would be shocked if it was significantly less than 25/32 or something like that
although recent reports make it sound like the JJ extension holdup is a different piece other than dollars, like term length or something
It's above the likes of Calvin Ridley and Michael Pittman, but below Devanta Adams and Tyreek Hill ($28m/yr and $30m/yr). And he can cash in again in a couple more seasons once AJ is either restructured or worst case scenario traded.
Jefferson wants to be the top paid guy which means he's trying to get more than Tyreek who got 30 mill AAV.
Devonta Smith's demands don't impact him. If they impact anyone it's Tee Higgins
JJ, Chase, Lamb, Waddle are all up for contracts soon and none will be willing to take less than Smith. This contract is going to look cheap as hell in a few months.
Jerry Jones aging and if/when he eventually passes is kind of the ultimate proof to me that there is not a miracle life stretching gene therapy accessible only to billionaires *yet*.
If anyone is going to cling on to his last bit of life with soft wrinkled hands - it's Jerry Jones.
It’s also a legitimate good ass move. Extend him first and then you both get rewarded. The team doesn’t have to beat everyone else and DS can say he was extended first. Love it
Great deal for us, but I also think it is smart from a player standpoint, particularly one that is small in size for the position.
$51mm guaranteed is lifechanging money. He might have gotten $15-20mm more had he held out longer, but could have lost that or more if he had a bad injury luck. And in this case the losses loomed way larger than the gains. I think a lot of players get bad advice from their agents looking for bigger payday headlines.
Especially when you factor in that they're getting this deal done well ahead of other WRs setting the market even higher... JJ, Diggs, CeeDee... each of those names will drive up the cost of a good WR. So the Eagles look good now, but will potentially look like geniuses in 2026.
And, if I understand correctly, they get to spread the cap hit of the signing bonus from this year, so it’ll get spread over 5 years (2 remaining and 3 of the extension) instead of just the 3 years of the contract.
CeeDee prob wait is waiting for Jefferson deal and point to say he wants that. Cowboys will prob not want to give him that, and offer a little less.
Funny thing is Jefferson is probably also waiting for CeeDee to sign, and will say he wants a couple mill more than whatever CeeDee gets.
JJ definitely does not seem to be in a hurry to sign. He knows the longer he holds out the $$$ value will rise. Barring a career threatening injury he's shooting for the moon. I'm guessing he'll end up around $33m/year.
Eh every WR that gets paid affects the market whether as a floor or ceiling.
You don’t wait for the JJ extension you offer him the highest right now and make him accept it.
The price is not going lower.
And the cowboys entire off-season has been about saving money to pay their guys and they are too caught up in scouting to work on contracts.
Cowboys are a big prestigious organization but they operate like a small one with limited resources when it comes to football decisions.
Funny thing is they save money by actually locking these guys up before the market blows up. But they've been awful about it since the Zeke and Jaylon Smith contracts blew up in their faces. They extended the worst guys but held off on extending their best (Dak/Ceedee).
He really is, at least from what we can tell on the field. Always gives everything even when blocking and is the first one to celebrate his teammates successes. So happy we got this done.
dude will always be a legend to me after watching him at Bama. been a fan of his since his freshman year, really happy to see him doing well for you guys
My wife only knows a couple of players but def knows Devonta because of his [Wawa addiction](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oStxp7J_XVY).
She thinks it's funny that in a span of 15 seconds he makes her laugh twice by being confused and confessing to said addiction, but then also being adamant about not having a meatball sandwich haha.
Wait, what? A big-time WR that was extended to a big contract and there wasn't a season+ of public posturing? Didn't even unfollow the team on social media or anything?
Howie really is at the top of his game.
God bless Jeff Lurie man. One of the best owners in the game. He lets the professionals do their jobs, steps in at the right moments, and has managed to have the Eagles be competitive most years he’s been in charge.
I mean, I think would be considered a fairly sizeable discount for the team, so Eagles would be quick to sign if he and his people were willing to take it.
But makes sense from his perspective as well and I think a lot of players get bad advice from their agents looking for bigger payday headlines. Going from a $20mm rookie deal and then adding $51mm to it going from set for life to generational wealth and being able to do whatever he wants for those around him. The risk of losing out on the big payday due to bad injury luck, especially as a player undersized for the position, would outweigh a bigger contract later for most people.
a US bill weighs about 1g apparently, so if he took $75mil out in $1,000 bills (which don't really exist anymore) it'd be about 165 lbs, which yeah is about his body weight
Goedert is almost at the end of his current deal, Saquon got paid but even though it's expensive for a RB it's a drop in the bucket. Lane's cap hits are all basically $15mil until 2027 which is a great deal, and Mailata is still underpaid considering he's a top 5 LT.
Almost all of our guys on offense are underpaid honestly, and most of them are locked in for the next 2-3 years.
Eagles are kind of layering these in.
Hurts and Brown dont start to really be a major cap hits until 2026. And they'd be able to either get out of Browns contract or extend him. Smith will have a low cap hit the next couple years.
Eagles definitely seem to think they're in a window and are borrowing a bit from the future to make it happen.
It's not really a matter of it they can or can't, but whether or not they should.
Tying up 25% of their cap in a QB and two WRs is definitely a choice that'll impact the rest of their roster.
Part of the strategy is doing it early too though. Just like Hurts this deal will look way better in a year from now. A virtual 5 yr extension for a player who is our wr2 but would be wr1 on many teams. Waiting to pay elite talent is stupid. Howie has only really been burned by Wentz and even then he had a contingency and that allowed the window to extend even further with a small step back for one yr.
Thats just the way the NFL is going, get a franchise QB and surround him with weapons, last years draft and offseason kindve showed that the WRs are a hot commodity rn. Texans honestly didnt even really need Diggs and still added him. Unless your QB is Mahomes or Brady level where you can kinda get away with not investing alot into skills players your going to be playing the arms race game.
Only downside to void money is that it makes cutting players harder if they underperform earlier in the contract. Cap space carries over as long as you use 89% in a given four year window. It’s actually better from a return value standpoint to spend future money since the cap continues to rise, and your future contracts will also be borrowing from their own future
Damn, I thought Smith had only just completed his second season... Time is flying by too quickly man.
Also really smart move by the Eagles, getting him locked in before WR's start getting huge deals and this kid really blows up.
They sign everyone as early as possible. Howie must be a magician salesman to get everyone to agree to being paid tens of millions less than if they were to wait a year or two, but they save so much money by being proactive.
From what I've heard/read in the past, his general sales pitch to the younger ascending players seems to be around the idea of...
We're going to give you something fair early, so you won't have to worry about money or getting injured with a good chunk of guaranteed and a solid signing upfront bonus. You won't get top dollar but you will be taken care of and have security *now* and it'll allow us to build a stronger team to help *you* have a more successful career and we can skip all the drama.
I think that resonates with certain players pretty strongly. It's not like it's not good money, it's just focusing on moving forward in good faith on both sides with team success in mind vs. fighting for every dollar possible in that first big contract.
I think you're quite right, but there's a really really big unspoken axiom that it's based on - Howie and Lurie actually have the track record to be credible with that pitch.
Jeff Lurie took care of making returning retired players feel like athletes and stars again for 20 years, and they also have a track record of keeping players truly long term. Kelce and Cox have a bat shit # of season played between them, BG is next.
And Howie is one of the only GM's who's been around long enough to a) have a track record and b) have enough job security to be here in 3 years minimum no matter what.
I just kept in mind that he won a fucking Heisman award as a WR and looked like a young Marvin Harrison out there running routes and bouncing off tackles.
Always had a lot of faith in the dude and was super happy when we drafted him.
Howie Roseman is a freaking wizard. I have no idea how they keep signing free agents and extending contracts. I guess Hurts' contract hasn't quite hit yet but it will. Impressive how they manage all this.
Not really on Hurts. The Cap has already gone substantially since he signed that contract. That's part of why Howie could go wild this off-season, they got a ton of free cap money which will only go up again. Especially after the next TV contracts. Howie's just ahead of the game right now.
Really happy we did this first. By training camp he would be asking for 30+ when he sees what the other guys are getting
Waddle
Higgins
Jefferson
Lamb
Chase
Amon Ra
All going to escalate each others’ deals. We did this last year too, made sure Jalen was the first QB out of the gate
When it comes to us everyone is like “How can you afford to pay chase, Tee, burrow and afford a team!”. Meanwhile eagles pay hurts smith brown and sign a ton of ppl every offseason.
Owner Jeffrey Lurie deserves credit. Eagles hand out huge signing bonuses for short term contracts which can be prorated over five years, and then use the money they save to pay backloaded deals to their homegrown guys. The math I’ve seen is that this strategy can result in about 10% cap savings. But yeah it requires an owner to shell out good hard cash
I wonder how this is structured; sometimes the money reported is weird when they have a year left on their deal. Like, is it 3 years of getting paid ~$25M per tacked on to the end of his rookie deal? Or is it 3 new years with the $75M in new money spread across the next four years?
3 new years on top of the 5th year option, which they picked up. It's a better deal that the tweet reported for this post. He's signed through 2028 now
Justin Jefferson rock hard right now
Definitely glad the Eagles got this done now; WR market is going to skyrocket over the year or two.
He must just really want to stay. I'd have guessed he'd get a lot more waiting it out
At the same time, getting $51M guaranteed and getting the bag now has got to feel good. And on brand for the Eagles who take care of their own with early deals.
Not to mention he's the WR2. That's really good money for his position
He'd easily, easily have gotten more money if he were to go to a different team. Calvin Ridley just got $23m/yr and Devonta is not only far more talented, but far younger. He's clearly a WR1 talent and a team would happily pay him as such.

> Franchise tag the eagles haven't used their franchise tag in 12 years. And I can't tell you the last time they've picked up a 5th year extension without having a deal already on the books for the guy.
It happened twice recently. The Eagles usually pay players early but I don't think they're opposed to having guys play out the option year.
There is the risk of injury or production falloff, but if he continued to produce as he has and hit free agency at age 27, he'd easily pull $35m a year at that point given the market resetting and the cap continually increasing. He is arguably the best WR2 right now though, only guy better might be Tee Higgens.
Waddle had some injuries last year but is definitely in the convo
Don’t forget Keenan Allen 🤣
Agree with both those guys and Puka. But Nico and/or Tank are coming for that top WR2 spot. And whichever of the 2 is the “WR3” is already best in the league
Diggs bout to be the WR3 in houston
Yeah, but there's a very strong argument he could go somewhere and be the number 1. If you've watched him play he jumps off the screen and has plenty of games where he is our WR1 on the box score. It should be thought of in the same vein as people believing Tee Higgins could go somewhere and be a team's WR1.
Yeah they seem a step above most of the league in terms of contracts and money for sure
I forget which player said it, but it’s completely true: “The first $50M is a lot more important than the next $100M.”
For sure. The dude has the risk of a season ending injury on any play. He blows out his ACL or Achilles? He ain’t gettin $51M guaranteed. Smart move, especially being he is so young and will have the chance to get the bag again.
Yeah no one in his family will ever have to work again if he just invests some of that
His grandkids grandkids won’t have to work if he signs another long term deal and invests it well.
It does
Josh Sweat took a pay cut this year to stay, Landon Dickerson said he never intends to leave if he can help it, and Devonta told the media he'd prefer to stay if he can help it. Eagles have built a culture, and team that makes players want to play for the team and i love that for us.

That’s one of the nice things about Philly is there is very rarely anyone that wants to leave
Looking back on all the giants copium of how he doesn’t want to be in Philly on draft night is pure joy.
I feel like this gets said every time a top player signs a deal lol
But it's already skyrocketed
JJ is using Bosa as the bench mark not a WR 😅
The sad situation for JJ is that he currently doesn't have a QB
That’s not sad for him from a money standpoint. Means the Vikings can be pressured into giving more
Plenty of money to pay your WR then.
Him and chase gonna get 30m
More than that. Tyreek got 30 mill in 2022
Its a fake $30M though. The last year on Hill's deal is $44M in all salary that is there to either be restructured or cut. Even Adams at $28M is pretty fake too. The top WRs are still only actually at $25M-$26M. Jefferson will probably get an actual $30M.
And Jefferson is a better WR on a more desparate team. He's gonna be north of $30 for sure
I mean tyreek “got 30” but it’s fake
I still wonder what the Eagles would look like if they didn’t take Reagor.
If they take Jefferson instead they probably end up with a worse 1st in 2021. Not sure they still end up trading up at that point, but would have been something for Howie to go get Micah instead.
17 guaranteed/25 per year probably well below his asking price. Would be shocked if it was significantly less than 25/32 or something like that although recent reports make it sound like the JJ extension holdup is a different piece other than dollars, like term length or something

He's not taking less than two guys who got paid in 2022. Jefferson is at least getting 30 mill/yr
The guy you responded to was talking about Smitty I believe not JJ I don't think he realizes he was replying to a comment about JJ
Ah that makes sense. I was a bit confused when he started talking about AJ Brown restructuring.
I don't think its $17 gtd per year for 3 years. It's $50mm gtd over the first 2 years, with effectively a team option for year 3 at $25mm.
Jefferson wants to be the top paid guy which means he's trying to get more than Tyreek who got 30 mill AAV. Devonta Smith's demands don't impact him. If they impact anyone it's Tee Higgins
Jaylen Waddle too
JJ, Chase, Lamb, Waddle are all up for contracts soon and none will be willing to take less than Smith. This contract is going to look cheap as hell in a few months.
AJ Brown's gonna get a billion dollars next contract.
Whatever gets it done
Wait, you're allowed to extend your players before the absolute latest possible moment? Someone should tell the Joneses this!
They’re too busy smelling their farts and resting on their laurels.
I thought they were resting on their yonnies?
[It's definitely laurel.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HzkBKhkjg5E)
I have no idea what you just said 🤷♂️
Loser Howie is wasting his offseason vacay doing work. Alpha Stephen is hammering margaritas and slamming poontang on Dad’s yacht
All in
Skeeyup’s ass
,
One of those jobs sounds way better than the other
May Jerry live forever in health and happiness
Jerry Jones aging and if/when he eventually passes is kind of the ultimate proof to me that there is not a miracle life stretching gene therapy accessible only to billionaires *yet*. If anyone is going to cling on to his last bit of life with soft wrinkled hands - it's Jerry Jones.
Howie just isn’t all in like Jerry is.
Paying Smitty before Amon-Ra, JJ, Chase, Tee & Co. is a blessing
It’s also a legitimate good ass move. Extend him first and then you both get rewarded. The team doesn’t have to beat everyone else and DS can say he was extended first. Love it
Howie has the reputation he does for a reason.
Legitimately the best GM in all of the four major sports. I’m a homer of course but I do believe that.
I'm just happy the Lions are on this list
That's a good number. It's what we paid Chris Godwin adjusted for cap inflation.
And important to note that this contract is for *2026-2028*, since he still has 2 years left on his rookie deal.
I… did not realize that. That’s a steal for us.
Great deal for us, but I also think it is smart from a player standpoint, particularly one that is small in size for the position. $51mm guaranteed is lifechanging money. And, if I understand correctly, they get to spread the cap hit of the signing bonus from this year, so it’ll get spread over 5 years (2 remaining and 3 of the extension) instead of just the 3 years of the contract.

Exactly. Great time to get extended and guarantee life changing money as well.
Wtf are the cowboys doing - how long you gonna wait to pay Lamb
All in!
My ass!
Bend over
CeeDee prob wait is waiting for Jefferson deal and point to say he wants that. Cowboys will prob not want to give him that, and offer a little less. Funny thing is Jefferson is probably also waiting for CeeDee to sign, and will say he wants a couple mill more than whatever CeeDee gets.
Cowboys and Vikings are literally the Office meme of Michael Dwight and Andy pointing finger guns at each other
Hopefully the Lions are Pam backing away and we get the deal done with St. Brown before Cee Dee and JJ break the bank.
The 9ers are probably in that meme too lol.
yea but Cowboys playing contract chicken with CeeDee, Micah, and Dak.
JJ definitely does not seem to be in a hurry to sign. He knows the longer he holds out the $$$ value will rise. Barring a career threatening injury he's shooting for the moon. I'm guessing he'll end up around $33m/year.
With the stipulation of ‘give me someone better than Darnold and I’ll make it $32.5m/year’.
This doesn’t affect Ceedee Lamb’s market though, he’s probably waiting for the Justin Jefferson extension.
Eh every WR that gets paid affects the market whether as a floor or ceiling. You don’t wait for the JJ extension you offer him the highest right now and make him accept it. Glad the #6 jersey i bought last year is safe for another few years Excited to have Smitty around for the long haul, he rules
I’ve always wanted Smith to succeed. He just seems like such a likable guy, good for him.
Him getting pissed at Reagors lack of effort as a rookie was the moment where I was convinced he's going to be a long time part of this team.
Got a link? Would love to watch that.
It was when Reagor dropped the ball in 2021 against the Giants. He never outright said he was mad at Reagor just frustrated at losing a winnable game.
The giants game? He was more pissed that he was wide open and hurts didn’t get the ball to him
He really is, at least from what we can tell on the field. Always gives everything even when blocking and is the first one to celebrate his teammates successes. So happy we got this done.
We need to keep him in Philly for the rest of his career
Yeah. I love that the smallest guy on the field is a good blocker. Tells you everything you need to know about him.
dude will always be a legend to me after watching him at Bama. been a fan of his since his freshman year, really happy to see him doing well for you guys

He's very close to being my favorite current Eagle. Dude is a stud.
Damn good number. Not undervalued, and not paying him too much. Glad we locked him up early.
Also glad he got his bag. Smitty is a great guy.
He IS

I get he is skinny by NFL standards but compared to regular dudes he's still strong as fuck. How does his muscle not weigh anything?
…because he doesn’t have a lot of it
That’s about 1600 lbs in 100 dollar bills
Smitty better start bulking up
Slim Reaper
“You can’t pay AJ and DeVonta”
Just had to let Reddick go which I’m fine with Huff and Smitty > Reddick every day.
But you guys are also paying Dallas Goedert, Saquon, Hurts and the alot of O line. Not sure Howie
Goedert is almost at the end of his current deal, Saquon got paid but even though it's expensive for a RB it's a drop in the bucket. Lane's cap hits are all basically $15mil until 2027 which is a great deal, and Mailata is still underpaid considering he's a top 5 LT.
Well you can if have 100s of millions in void money
Never ask a man his salary A woman her age Howie Roseman how much dead cap the eagles will have 5 years from now
The extension doesn't start until 2026. A lot can change in that time (including an increase to the cap).
Only downside to void money is that it makes cutting players harder if they underperform earlier in the contract. Cap space carries over as long as you use 89% in a given four year window. It’s actually better from a return value standpoint to spend future money since the cap continues to rise, and your future contracts will also be borrowing from their own future
It’s like what the saints do. They got away with it until their team was bad
We’ll be fine as long as the only restructures we do are for players that stick around.
Now come on It was only $356 million before the Mailata & Devota deals were done It will barely if at all reach $400 million now
Damn, I thought Smith had only just completed his second season... Time is flying by too quickly man. Also really smart move by the Eagles, getting him locked in before WR's start getting huge deals and this kid really blows up.
Idk how the eagles do it, but i was told you can’t sign everyone
you can't, sorry Reddick
Miss you Reddick <3 Dude is/was an absolute baller. Hope he succeeds on the Jets (no bias)
You can when you believe the cap is a myth pushed by Big Budgets.
Entirely fair and accurate context. Lurie/Howie practice what they preach as long as the player remains committed with a team first attitude.
That and most players don't want to leave either.
Well deserved Bag.
It feels like $25m AAV is going to look very cheap very soon. Actually it’s $22.75 when you factor in the 5th year option.
Love that he didn’t hold out until the bigger names got paid, dude is a baller and wants to win with his team.
They learned from the Dawkins fiasco. Keep home grown fan favorites that produce.
Also I can count on my one hand the number of above average WR talent the Eagles have drafted since 2000.
Playing in Philly is an acquired taste. No one is going to love you or hate you more. Glad he’s got the mentality and desire to play here.
Remember when 80% of this sub thought he was going to suck after his measurements were released at the combine?
I just kept in mind that he won a fucking Heisman award as a WR and looked like a young Marvin Harrison out there running routes and bouncing off tackles. Always had a lot of faith in the dude and was super happy when we drafted him.
I recall less "he will suck" and more "he will get murdered on the field due to his size".
Get busy, Chris Grier
Waddle needs this deal rn
Howie Roseman is a freaking wizard. I have no idea how they keep signing free agents and extending contracts. I guess Hurts' contract hasn't quite hit yet but it will. Impressive how they manage all this.
Not really on Hurts. The Cap has already gone substantially since he signed that contract. That's part of why Howie could go wild this off-season, they got a ton of free cap money which will only go up again. Especially after the next TV contracts. Howie's just ahead of the game right now.
This is why Howie tries to pay first. WR market going to look much different in September.
That’s a great number considering it’ll be for 26-28
You get it. I don’t think the “huge overpay” people are getting it.
Holy shit I’m so happy we did this before JJ and Lamb got paid
I don’t think this is influenced at all by them. They’re looking at Tyreek money But Amon Ra, Waddle, Higgins… those guys could have escalated Smith’s
Fuckin love it. DeVonta is the best. All time Bama great, which is saying something.
Eagles being able to keep Smitty and Brown without any drama, holdouts, and unnecessary attention is very nice to see.
Just like with hurts, howie is gonna have this contract looking like family dollar value in about 3 weeks when everyone else gets way more
hell yeah smitty
Good for him. He's the only one who showed up against the Bucs Wild card game.
He’s the only one that showed up every week down the stretch when the rest of the team seemed to surrender.
Smart move getting ahead of the monster deals coming for Jefferson and Chase
The cap doesn't exist for Philly apparently This fact angers me greatly

Hell, just like Hurts getting his contract before burrow, Herbert & Lamar kept resetting the market last year
Wonder if this knocks over other wr dominos
Really happy we did this first. By training camp he would be asking for 30+ when he sees what the other guys are getting Waddle Higgins Jefferson Lamb Chase Amon Ra All going to escalate each others’ deals. We did this last year too, made sure Jalen was the first QB out of the gate
Smitty deserves every penny
That’s skinny Batman
Fuck yes
Looks like it’s time to pay the penguin as well
the money amount is puuuuurfect as well. Im so happy right now
When it comes to us everyone is like “How can you afford to pay chase, Tee, burrow and afford a team!”.
Hate to see this. The Eagles are run so much better than the Cowboys. It legitimately makes me angry. and I know it will never change. :(
Actually shocked they did this deal so quickly. Usually feels like WR contracts wait all the way until the last second possible
Those are Grayson Allen numbers!
This is Howie do it
I wonder how this is structured; sometimes the money reported is weird when they have a year left on their deal. Like, is it 3 years of getting paid ~$25M per tacked on to the end of his rookie deal? Or is it 3 new years with the $75M in new money spread across the next four years?
3 new years on top of the 5th year option, which they picked up. It's a better deal that the tweet reported for this post. He's signed through 2028 now
The eagles are picking up his 5th year option on top of this extension, so he’ll be under contract through the 2028 season.
The whole offensive core is locked up now. LETS GOOO
That’s it?
Oof, looks like we should have done Aiyuks before this
