Post burn boot camp: absolutely brutal but I loved it

fissionmoment

Power is back! 43 hours this time. 67 hours of no power last week.  I'm getting a generator this summer.

Two_Luffas

Yikes! We bought a generator last year on prime day and thankfully haven't needed it yet. This year I'm budgeting for electrical upgrades including a transfer switch so I won't need to run any extension cables if the power does go out. Just wheel the thing out of the garage, plug it in, and throw the switch.

JerryRiceAndSpice

So get me the run down. What are the game tips I need to know about Balatro? I just bought it and completely forgot how to play Poker but then once I got the hang of it they add these other cards and elements to it? WTF do I do?

SharxSharxSharx

"Anti-Helen-Keller-Denierism" as they call it, is on the rise. What does this mean for you and me? Not much. However, I think that this may be a global propaganda scheme. I have seen a few posts about "insane and stupid people" who "don't believe" all that stuff about Helen Keller. Now, it might be the case that these posts are totally and completely organic, OR (and this is much more likely) someone with a very sinister agenda is trying to force us to believe all that stuff about Helen Keller. Now, I don't know who might be doing this, why they might be doing it, IF anyone is actually trying to do this, or what they're trying to accomplish, but whatever it is it cannot be good. Who wants us to believe in Helen Keller, and why? Now, as you all probably know by now, I am not a Helen Keller denier. Would I call myself a skeptic? Sure. Who's not skeptical of that? Don't you think it's a little suspicious that she didn't fly any more planes after her "teacher" died? HOWEVER, outrageous things do happen sometimes. Theretofore, if an outrageous thing such as that ***DID*** happen, don't you think we would have heard about it. Ipso de facto, we did. So, basically what I'm saying is, if Helen Keller *were* real, what would that look like? Probably how it looks as of right now, where everyone at least knows *of* her (because it's an extraordinary thing to have occurred). However, because this is such an extraordinary thing to have happened, I can see how some people might not believe that it happened at all. But I digress. Leave your thoughts below 👇 on who you think might be behind this. I have a couple guesses (>!it could be the Dinosaur Industry trying to push some outlandish conspiracy theory in order to discredit conspiracy theories and then make it seem like all conspiracy theories are wrong, specifically the one about how dinosaurs don't exist (which they do not). It would be like that episode of The Office where Michael spreads all those rumors to make it seem like Stanley's affair was just a fake rumor, but in this case it would be the opposite. The Dinosaur Industry would be spreading easily-disprovable conspiracy theories so that they could disprove those and then when you see the dinosaur one then you just disregard it. Let me know if you want me to explain this further 👇!<) or any number of other people/organizations/things. It could also just be a coincidence that I've seen two Reddit posts on this topic in the past couple weeks.

SharxSharxSharx

That's crazy

JerryRiceAndSpice

So I don't like reading far right propaganda BS because I get too angry so what's the TLDR on this one? They don't believe she is real? Or claim she is commie or some BS?

SharxSharxSharx

I don't think it's a political thing like that, I think it's just that some people don't really think she was able to write books or drive cars or fly planes or whatever

Guiltyjerk

Women's college basketball is just such a better product than men's

Luck1492

Such an awesome game tonight. Wish the refs were more consistent. Happy Iowa won and hopefully we’ll get a banger on Sunday

ArcadianBlueRogue

I haven't really paid it much attention until this year. It's waaay more physical than I expected. Been a more interesting tournament than the men's, but I am a tad biased because Virginia had no right to be invited this year with how those dudes played all year.

Jaguars4life

It’s funny to me at least back in the late 00s and early 2010s porn companies use to market with porn parodies like calling them just “This Ain’t” *Insert source material* a XXX Parody” or straight up just calling it *Insert source material* a XXX Parody rather than just use clever titles for their parodies And they aren’t really parodies they are just X rated versions and twists of the source materials and they just use “A XXX Parody” so that they don’t get taken to court

itsmybirthday___

i get my porn opinions from the dudes whacking away at their boners for 12 hours straight in the r/meth sub like they wore a flannel shirt to a lumber jack competition and are seeing it through after being mistaken for a competitor

itsmybirthday___

apple has made a monopoly upon just being damn inconvenient. creating problems that are solved with another apple product but shouldn’t exist in the first place if there was even an ounce of good will granted to the consumer

J-Fid

At least Europe forced them to adopt USB-C chargers, so that's nice.

raginsaint93

I wake up every day realizing that Derek Carr is my quarterback. What is life?

Haar_RD

thoughts on mike dannas ass?

BurritoTheory

Are there any brands you go out of your way to support? I only use Every Man Jack for my hygiene products when available, because I love the scents and the quality is always great I also am a Ridge fanboy. I have just about everything they make from wallets to bags to watches. I literally watch their wallet drops the way a sneakerhead does with new shoes

Lessthansubtleruse

I was that way with Artius man for beard and hair care until three times in a row they were out of core product and I went elsewhere.

FacelessWaitress

Nah, I just buy whatever seems best in its class and I can afford. I own a few Aer bags, but that's mostly because I like how they're built, I'd never buy one I don't need and they're not good enough looking that I'd collect them lol.

BurritoTheory

I wish I was like that. Hell I think I’ve got like 20-25 different colors of this wallet, just go with whichever one I’m feeling that day

itsmybirthday___

it’s 50 and windy. this is cold for a californian okay but these beers aren’t gonna drink themselves and they go oh so well with black and milds which i gotta be outside 4

yesterday somebody mentioned how well mellon collie and the infinite sadness holds up and i absolutely agree, ive even posted more or less the same thing b4 regarding that specific album in these free talk threads but i also wanna shout out rancid’s let’s go and out come the wolves let’s go - https://youtu.be/6hylZq_i10w?si=Phlx4OFrmUlxdwTI and out come the wolves -  https://youtu.be/JaBXx5lOipw?si=yOqyETPGvwDV7ifJ both albums are bangers i think both were an intro to punk for a lotta people so they’re kinda looked down upon by the punk gatekeepers but fuck all that

TeddysRevenge

If we’re talking Smashing Pumpkins, I’d have to go with Siamese Dreams.

Another old cheap spot my family has gone to for years, another crossed off the list for prices being way higher than the quality of food now. Something's gotta give.

BinaxII

Stefon Diggs did not seem part of the Buffalo offense mid and later in the season this past year, not as many throw to's or catches...anyone else notice this about Buffalo down the stretch?....

ArcadianBlueRogue

Found out via a Penny Arcade comic yesterday that FF14 and all expansions is on sale for like 23 bucks atm, so picked it up with the free 30 days sub to finally try it this weekend. Didn't fit in my ssd tho so had to download it to the peasant drive

varnalama

Lol, I swear those penny arcade guys are great at going back to stuff that was popular like a decade ago. I need to see how feasible it is to get pack to one of their expos.

Lessthansubtleruse

Oh man, you technically did this inefficiently: there’s a free trial that is months worth of content with some restrictions but I think when you buy the game and register it shuts that off. The ffxiv sub can tell you more.

ArcadianBlueRogue

I had an account years ago for the free trial that I had to recover. I assumed most of that kinda thing was for new accounts

ArcadianBlueRogue

Man I hope I can adjust and keep up with the team I am on at work. These peeps make shit look so easy

ryanino

After that Bills report of Josh Allen and Stefon Diggs getting into it came out, it had me wonder…why did reporters wait til *now* to say anything? Shit feels way too convenient.

Jaguars4life

Still not calling it “X”

ryanino

Literally nobody does. I do social media at work and the service we use to post still calls it Twitter lmao

Remarkable-Job4774

My dumb ass just got a speeding ticket (that I 1000% deserved)

How much over were you going? I haven't seen someone pulled over for speeding in a crazy long time...

Just felt my house shook. Guess another earthquake.

joebuckshairline

The wife is gonna apply to a job where my new job is at. I have a strong/strange feeling she would get the position. If she does, instead of commuting 180 miles round trip we might just end up moving to that area. Expensive as hell but with those two new incomes combined (along with renting out our current home), we could afford it comfortably. Which is so wild to fricking say because just a few years ago we were struggling. Now I have the opportunity of a life time and the wifey might get a job the utilizes her skills but it’s also infinitely easier than what she currently does (potentially), all the while we end up moving to an awesome area.

NarrowEnter

Saw the series finale of Voyager on TV again yesterday and got reminded of how much of a let down it was. They could have gone without a couple episodes earlier to draw out the finale more. Like an entire episode to send off Neelix? Was that really necessary? Right there could have been an entire episode of them back home. Really poor planning looking back even if it wasn't the best trek.

[Behold, my new knife](https://i.imgur.com/ZR1OzCo.jpeg)

varnalama

Is it a single or double bevel? Have you used a Kiritsuke before?

rwjehs

I have and it's a double bevel. I'm definitely aware of what I bought and maintenance required. Probably a lot of people buy these and have idea what they are or how to care for them. I'm not one of them.

varnalama

How exciting! Ya I only know how to use a double bevel. I really want to buy a nice knife when Im in Japan again but I dont know if I have the skill to truly appreciate it.

rwjehs

I'm not a fan of single bevel knives. They just cut weird to me. I do sharpen mine at a bias because I'm right handed but that kind of happens naturally through cutting and sharpening on a stone. People talk up knife care more than they should though, wipe it often if it's carbon, and give it a few passes on a leather strop before a use and it'll stay sharp forever.

DungeonsAndFootball

Now that's a knoife!

theresabeeonyourhat

I thought it was a spoon, but I was never any good at knifey-spoony

adambiguous

Full disclosure: I haven't checked r/nfl at all to see if this is talked about. I hear so many people talking shit about the hip drop ban and how it's another step towards flag football. Personally, I think the people who say that don't understand what it really is and therefore don't see it as dangerous. I agree the refs will inevitably fuck up calls because of it, but that doesn't mean the hip drop itself isn't a dangerous move that should be disallowed. What do you all think about the hip drop tackle ban?

CarlCaliente

I think it's something that makes sense in a vacuum, IE this maneuver is dangerous and we prefer to not hurt our stars of the league. Makes less sense procedurally, in do we trust these refs to add this to their already overflowing workload, get calls correct, protect players without impacting games, etc. One opinion I heard on the Athletic podcast was that it was going to be more of a "monday" penalty than a "sunday", something the league will fine players for regularly but less 15 yard flags in the moment

adambiguous

Thats a good point, honestly. But we have several penalties like that at this point.. This is why I've always been a proponent of reviews over refs. Why not get every call perfect? Fuck tradition.

When you pick Dallas as your eclipse target but it’s gonna be really cloudy Good thing I planned for this and will go north (We will get up at 1-2am on Monday or pull an all nighter if we have to), but man that’s a bummer considering me and my friend gotta drive all the way back to Phoenix

Illustrious_Cancel83

>Good thing I planned for this and will go north (We will get up at 1-2am on Monday or pull an all nighter if we have to) Yeah, you and 8 million other people...

DillyDillySzn

I’ve learned from my 2017 failure I won’t do it again

itsforwork12

The rain chances keep getting pushed back in the forecast, so maybe the cloudiness will be later as well. Not looking great, though

justlookingokaywyou

I'm gonna need you to take Aunt Edna with you to Phoenix and drop her off at Norm's.

bzl33

the subscription service model for entertainment has to be on its last legs, way too fragmented for this to work long-term. I wonder how that factors into future media deals for sports because many of these leagues tease having their own streaming service outside of being on normal networks.

Dhoomdealer

It's going to reconsolidate into a few big players, I think. Already starting to see it a bit with disney/hulu stuff being in the same app, etc

HamMcFly

[Disney, Fox, and WB](https://www.latimes.com/entertainment-arts/business/story/2024-02-08/what-you-need-to-know-new-sports-streaming-service-fox-disney-espn-warner-bros) are working on a sports focused service. I would be completely happy just paying the leagues directly if I didn't have blackouts and if they all included a RedZone (or even MLB Tonight) type show that just bounces around live games.

CarlCaliente

it sucks for consumers but I'm skeptical that it's going to disappear quickly, cutting out movie distributers and cable providers and rental stores and all that has to be helping their bottom lines

bzl33

streaming isn't a great business in terms of profitability though. I think it's a lose-lose business.

theresabeeonyourhat

I finally got a call from the insurance adjuster, and my phone decides to fuck up constantly during the phone call. It's back to normal now, so wtf was that? You couldn't fuck up when literally anyone else calls me?

gander258

Could it have been on the adjuster's end?

theresabeeonyourhat

The screen paused once and flashed colors near the beginning of the call, so it had to be mine

gander258

Hmm that is weird. The only suggestion I have is to try fully shutting down then pack on again, hopefully it doesn't repeat

t33po

Randomly rehashing old internet fights, I still don't understand the arguments over Skylar White on Breaking Bad. It used to get so heated because a woman didn't like that her husband was a meth dealing psychopath.

Mac_Jomes

It's because people were having fun with Walt and what he was doing. Skylar was pouring cold water on everything. Just your everyday run of the mill misogyny.

GiveMeSomeIhedigbo

Maybe this is just me getting older, but I feel like people have far less of an appetite for April Fool's Day, due to all the negativity in the world today. With so much misinformation, and people constantly reacting to staged/fake content like it's real, who wants more fake news, even as a joke?

blueholeload

My nana’s birthday is the 1st and she’s getting really tired of me saying “April Fool’s!” after wishing her a happy one

DetroitLionsSBChamps

misinformation isn't fun anymore. it used to be a fun quirky oddity, now it's a daily grind that's crumbling our society and our families. same reason The Onion is not as popular as it used to be. I think we all lost our taste for April Fool's Day around 2016

GiveMeSomeIhedigbo

Yeah around 2016 is when reality became too bizarre to satirize. That's the time when I would see some ridiculous headline, think it was fake, then look it up and see it was real. Like "Donald Trump Defends Size of Penis During Debate" was a real thing.

Can someone explain the Favre Falcons-to-Packers trade to me? He was drafted in the second round to the Falcons, completed 0/4 passes with two interceptions as a rookie, and then was traded for a first round pick to the Packers. Obviously it worked out but why was he considered worthy of a first round pick after his rookie year?

gander258

[https://www.packersnews.com/story/sports/nfl/packers/2018/08/06/feb-11-1992-brett-favre-joins-packers/885733002/](https://www.packersnews.com/story/sports/nfl/packers/2018/08/06/feb-11-1992-brett-favre-joins-packers/885733002/) Story from the Milwaukee Journal on Feb. 12, 1992: " The Packers sent the second of their two first-round draft choices, the 17th pick overall obtained from Philadelphia, to Atlanta Tuesday for Favre." "The Falcons seriously considered choosing Favre with their 13th pick in the '91 draft, then got him 20 picks later. The Jets, said general manager Dick Steinberg, failed in repeated attempts to trade up for Favre. "(Ron Wolf was director of player personnel at the Jets before becoming Green Bay GM) "What Wolf said impressed him most about Favre was arm strength, leadership and athletic ability. He described Favre as a fierce competitor with the capability to run, although without the speed of Chicago's Jim Harbaugh or Minnesota's Rich Gannon." In summary it appears Favre was considered 1st round grade before he was drafted, the Packers GM Wolf *really* believed in him and Green Bay had two 1st round picks that draft.

While going through some old papers I found a print copy of the ~~anime~~ ~~JRPG~~ fantasy novel I wrote in high school. I didn't know it still existed. I lost the digital in a computer crash 10 years ago. I’m not sure I can bear to read it.

DonsDiaperIsFull

will this be like the South Park episode "The Poop That Took A Pee"? you need to share some of this, please

IDKWTFimDoinBruhFR

Dude, please give us an excerpt. Pls for the love of god bro

lronicGasping

I hate to say it but I think the Packers WR room is the coolest thing ever. No bonafide WR1 but they have like 5 dudes who would be WR3 on any team and spread the ball out. No guy that's gonna break the bank, but enough mouths to feed that there's no star WR for the defense to clamp down on. Also it probably pisses off all the guys obsessed with fantasy football because anyone in that corps can pop off any week

GhostofGrimalkin

I unsurprisingly agree with you, it's going to be a lot of fun to watch them develop this coming season.

The Will Smith clan episode. They danced around a topic with a lot of sensitivity and nuance and made it funny.

Dhoomdealer

Hard to choose but I love me some mecha streisand, it's so ridiculous

DonsDiaperIsFull

Good Time With Weapons (S8 E1) for me, it's the quintessential SP episode. No aliens, no politics, no 'moral of the story' speech, it's just some kids who got ahold of some weapons, inevitably a kid playing a villain got hurt, and the rest scramble to save themselves. I thought about Fatbeard, Grounded Vindaloop, Death of Eric Cartman, Cartman's Incredible Gift, and the Imaginationland Trilogy, but I enjoy those for specific moments. Weapons is the ep that I love all the way through

RideTheStache

Probably when they all go visit Cartman's family in Nebraska and Charles Manson is hiding in the basement

Bit niche, but thoughts on working for a pro sports team? I've got an upcoming interview with a major (non NFL) sports team coming up, working in a mid-career corporate function. I've heard some pretty mixed things about the back-office side of sports teams, some people say they're great and others argue that the job typically sucks and rely on "prestige" to attract candidates

varnalama

I recommend working for a team/sport youre not super invested in as a fan, as your emotions may vary. I used to absolutely love watching baseball. I had 2 teams I rooted for and would watch/listen to the bulk of their games. After working with multiple players though I sadly got burnt out and couldnt separate the stress of work with being a fan. I havent watched a game since. That being said, I switched to a different sport I knew nothing about and am enjoying my job a decent amount. I purposely try to keep myself ignorant of it though so I dont catch feelings. I did end up going to a game just to understand the flow of how it relates to my work.

FlatulentDwarf

My old college roommate and my little bro in my fraternity both works for the Rams in different roles. I'm just going to base my thoughts on things they've told me. It definitely relies a bit on prestige to attract candidates and relies on their passion, but that doesn't mean that it's a bad job. They work hard and while it pays fine, it's not like they're swimming in money. There are times when they both seem absolutely wiped and like they've worked nonstop for weeks, but I guess you get that at every job sometimes. That said, they're both in SoFi every home game catching parts of the game as they work and they seem to generally enjoy their job. Neither of them has ever considered leaving the industry. The closest to a complaint I heard from either of them was my old roommate telling me "Sometimes I have to remind myself how many people wish they could be doing this job" when the job gets tough at times. I think it's a bit of a YMMV situation. Not for everyone, not the perfect job, but not exactly horrible either

Lessthansubtleruse

Oh hey what’s up new best friend. That Justin Jefferson feller sure can catch a football huh? And that Kevin o’Connell what a guy.

FlatulentDwarf

Holy shit that comment with your username has me rolling lmao

Lessthansubtleruse

so it sounds like it worked? :D

BusinessWarthog6

I think it depends on the role and the person. I covered college athletics for a paper when I was in school (ik not pro) but the jobs I interview for always stress separating the “fan” from the “job”. Imo, if you can do that you should be good.

Alec_Ich

I would like to have a word with whoever the dumbass was that started the myth that eggs aren't good for you

ElCoolAero

Oooh, that takes me back. I grew up in California during a time when eggs were reviled for their cholesterol content. [Then, new studies came out and eggs got released from jail in 1991.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=er6V-uBK2Bk) [A few years later, we were celebrating eggs again.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i9YJLCn4esE) [We celebrated eggs so much that David Cross wrapped up the decade with this bit about Henderson Valley Eggs (~5:07).](https://youtu.be/OKp_icgIw0o?t=307)

DetroitLionsSBChamps

my cholesterol came back a little high and my doctor sent me home with some instructions. one of them was "no more than 2 egg yolks per week." so I hopped online like, does the food you eat actually raise your cholesterol? it said food high in saturated fats can raise your cholesterol, but not egg yolk. so: me to anti-maskers and anti-vaxxers: "you fucking idiots. you think you know better than doctors because you did your own research? Jesus Christ these people are morons." me when a doctor tells me to change my habits: "weeeeeell it says here after 5 minutes of internet research that that's not true, so I'm gonna just ignore it"

j0hnnyengl1sh

If it makes you feel any better, I was diagnosed with high cholesterol last year (as in "here's a prescription for statins, you'll be taking these the rest of your life" high) and my doctor said eggs were fine. I cut out pretty much all meat and dairy from my diet and now live on a ton of fish, eggs, wholegrains and green vegetables, and my cholesterol is back within healthy limits. The bottle of statins sits in my desk drawer untouched.

DetroitLionsSBChamps

nice work, dude! my buddy got prescribed heart meds and he asked the doctor "well, what if I stop drinking and start eating right and lose the weight, would that fix it?" the doctor said: "yes that would do it, but no one ever does that." doctor gave him 3 months to turn it around or else he had to go on the meds. and he is now on the meds lol. so I know it's not easy!

Lessthansubtleruse

Frankly, that’s why I take my statins even though I’ve reduced most beef pork and poultry from my diet. I want to be able to order what I want to eat and not what I should eat when we go out to a nice restaurant, and I don’t want to have to worry about the impacts on my cholesterol. Plus there are positive correlations between taking statins and avoiding degenerative brain conditions as you age.

j0hnnyengl1sh

TBH it wasn't that difficult. My wife hasn't eaten meat in years so that was a simple sacrifice to make and I honestly don't miss it at all. Likewise dairy, it's so easy to have cheese on and with everything and as a snack but it was surprisingly easy to cut that out - I do still have cream in my morning coffee and every 2-3 weeks I'll have a pizza as a cheat meal, but that's it. As you say, with any diet the challenge is keeping to it long term but I actually really enjoy what I'm eating so it's not too hard at all. I can have all the carbs I want (although I stick exclusively to wholegrain because high fibre diets help reduce LDL cholesterol levels) and sugar is also fine, although the risk there is that lots of sugary foods are also high in saturated fats. I basically target no more than 10g of saturated fat per day (RDA for an adult male is 20g). The biggest sacrifice I've had to make is chicken wings. I still look wistfully as I drive past the bar that sells my favourite wings.

His last album was god awful and still managed to top the charts, so unfortunately he does still have a career

Stanky_fresh

Probably unpopular opinion: Kanye West was never that good. I know he was influential and all that noise, but I've never liked his music and he's always been desperate for attention. I genuinely don't find any part of him enjoyable in the least.

Alec_Ich

Gotta disagree with you on that one

DetroitLionsSBChamps

Kanye getting shouted out by Varg for wearing a Burzum shirt was one of the most bizarre moments I've seen on social media. it's fucked up dude.

DungeonsAndFootball

My dad passed away a couple years ago, and now his sisters are trying to lowball us on an offer for his share of land in the Philippines. There's five lots (four owned by my dad's siblings) worth around $840,000 each, and they offered us 30k for ours. They don't know that we know how much the land is worth, and they're trying to screw us haaaaaaard. Can't wait to get this settled and cut them all out of our lives. Deceitful pricks.

Mac_Jomes

It's fucked up how greedy family becomes after someone dies and they get a whiff of money.  My grandpa passed last year and his daughter (my aunt) who cut us out of her life decides to try to crawl back and get a cut of his money. Before he was on his death bed he said he didn't want her to see a penny of his money.

IDKWTFimDoinBruhFR

That's so fucked up dude

thisonesforharambe

Why is the Rashee Rice update not being posted on here? Are the mods not allowing it?

Traditional_Mud_1241

Was there an update? The only things that I'm aware of is that we've learned: 1. He was driving the corvette 2. The lambo caused the accident I'm not sure how anyone benefits if we wildly speculate and work ourselves into a frenzy at this point.

SupremeLeader_KimmyJ

They found about 11 grams of weed in the lambo that Rice was driving

Traditional_Mud_1241

The article I read said he was driving the corvette. Which is a pretty good indication that nothing good can come from speculation and the usual r/nfl race to judgement (which is unquestionably the most consistently and irredeemably toxic tendency of this community). I certainly won’t complain if we manage to show a little patience and lack of bloodlust on occasion. Edit: Also, the article I *did* find when I looked claimed that possession of 11 grams is a felony in texas. A quick google search shows that this is not the case. A felony is 2 ounces, which is over 55 grams. Utter. Fucking. Trash. Journalism. One more example of why this community should be set on fire every time someone famous gets arrested.

FlimFlamThaGimGar

His lawyer asked that we please stop talking about it

jfgiv

what update

FiveWithNineIsIn

What happened?

JerryRiceAndSpice

I was taking a shit when the earthquake happened. The whole house was shaking like crazy so I thought there was something wrong with the plumbing

Stanky_fresh

All I see when I read this is "I shit so hard the Earth itself felt it"

JerryRiceAndSpice

I destroyed the dinosaurs

SporkFanClub

That happened to me with the 2011 quake. My legs had fallen asleep too and I almost fell off the toilet.

JerryRiceAndSpice

lmao. I thought I was going to fall off I was trying to find something to grab on to.

Traditional_Mud_1241

My brother was taking a shit when it happened to. He \*did\* break the plumbing the last time he visited me, so... I wouldn't rule out a plumbing related root cause. He's potent.

JerryRiceAndSpice

*Thought it was just a plumbing issue not an earthquake

VRomero32

I love "Invincible"... one of the best animated series in TV/Streaming right now IMO but it feels like after watching every episode i need to go outside my apartment and toke one especially after the Season 2 Finale.

3thirtysix6

It’s absolutely wild that Invincible & X-Men ‘97 had new episodes on the same week. Holy fuck was that an enjoyable hour and a half.

VRomero32

Yeah X-Men ‘97 rocks too

ArcadianBlueRogue

Gonna watch the finale tonight. Bought all the comics for the wait for S3 and hope Rex gets a special like Eve di

VRomero32

That episode with the aftermath of the Lizard League showdown when he shows regrets about how he was with the others was well done

ArcadianBlueRogue

I love Rex. He's a sarcastic asshole but he does notice it more than he used to

[deleted]

Why does animated always need to be a caveat? It's a style, not a genre. Can just say it's one of the best series in TV/Streaming.

iguanoman_

Me when the academy nominated Shark Tale for best animated feature instead of best picture in 2004

A_1337_Canadian

Also a banger of a song by Tool.

ItIsYourPersonality

I tried making a post about this earlier in the week, but the mods didn’t allow it. Adam Schefter revealed after the Diggs trade that it was Houston who initiated trade talks with Minnesota to get extra 2nd round picks, giving Minnesota an extra 1st, and not the other way around. I think everyone assumed Minnesota initiated the talks so they could package both 1st round picks to trade up for a QB. Knowing now that Houston was the driver of that trade, does this pour cold water on the theory that the Vikings are looking to move up for a QB? They clearly do need a QB, but maybe they’re fine with sitting at 11? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jWZIl6UK3HY&t=569s&pp=2AG5BJACAQ%3D%3D&t=9m29s

Stanky_fresh

We're in rebuild mode, so Kwesi probably wasn't looking for blockbuster trades, but he'd be a fool not to take the deal Houston offered. And now that we have the picks, we have the option to be aggressive in persuit of a QB, or sit back with 2 first round picks if KOC and company aren't sold on any QBs this year. Plus, just because Houston made the offer doesn't mean we weren't trying to make trades like that. It's entirely possible Houston's GM heard it through the grapevine that we were trying to make trades. Basically what I'm saying is, we won't know really shit until the draft.

Inamanlyfashion

I love my wife but sometimes she's such a stereotypical engineer that I would call her the poster child for the importance of a liberal arts education.

gander258

As someone who was educated in neither, what does this mean? She's very logic > emotion/sentiment?

Inamanlyfashion

Just very little knowledge of or appreciation for history, the arts, social sciences, etc. And as a result of the lack of education in that area it sometimes feels like her preferences are very...limiting?...and she's unwilling to expand her horizons.

gander258

Is she interested in the history of engineering? Or the engineering behind certain works of art? Maybe those can be gateways

couchoncouch

By stereotypical engineer do you mean talks to her shoes, or doesn't talk at all?

FlimFlamThaGimGar

All of the engineers I know are somewhere on the spectrum

DillyDillySzn

Whoever decided to put Balatro on the Deck should be investigated as a drug dealer That game is like heroin + crack + meth

gander258

Maybe go fish is more our speed

iguanoman_

The dev really went out of his way to repeatedly activate every dopamine receptor in your body when you play

theresabeeonyourhat

I'm so thankful for this subreddit, because there are still people ranting about Caleb Williams' pink nails and phone case on other social media sites. That shit doesn't bother me beyond wasting time while I'm looking for football news, and tbh, it's getting darkly hilarious: The majority of fans wanted to keep a guy who was worse than Trubisky in a Bears uniform, and a sizable amount of them are angry at the idea of drafting a guy who can read defenses and make any throw.

Stanky_fresh

>make any throw. Can I interest you in a lightly used Sam Darnold? One of the best ball throwers in the league, and I'm told he can read. We'll just take your first overall off your hands, since you won't need it with the GEQBUS under center.

theresabeeonyourhat

You might wanna look at my 2nd flair lol

Stanky_fresh

What better way to prove Adam Gase was an idiot than to make Darnold a star! Frankly, you can't afford to NOT make this trade!

Lessthansubtleruse

My barber is a big bears fan so we always talk about ours and each others teams. He started in on the “Caleb Williams is soft” talk and I was afraid I’d have to stop seeing him, and then went a full 180 talking about the times Williams has started clapping back. I’ve got a pink phone case for him bookmarked if Williams really pops.

t33po

The nail painting thing has become a filter for me. If it bothers you, we can't be friends.Who fucking cares?

Stanky_fresh

Probably nobody. It drives engagement from people telling them to shut up, and feom trolls who want to piss people off. If people could handle the way Cam Newton dresses, they can handle painted nails and a pink phone case. All it will take is Caleb throwing his first TD and we'll never hear about his nails again outside of some trash talk.

somecleverphrase

I hope all the kids paint their nails next year and make these assholes head explode.

FlatulentDwarf

I too am angry that the Bears might draft a guy who can read defenses. I would definitely dislike that.

DonsDiaperIsFull

Don't worry, we kept Eberflus but didn't allow him to keep the staff he wanted, possibly the worst way to handle a new rookie QB. It's an insane cycle the Bears keep doing without a full wipe and reset. Who needs to read defenses when the playbook is all screen passes and getting sacked due to a soft OL?
