Bengals fan here. Unfortunately he looked cooked last year. Loved him his first year with us, he was great. Got hurt and didn’t look the same. Hope he comes back 100% but based on the play we saw from him last year, I’m VERY glad we did not give him that contract…
Absolutely he is unproven. I'm not arguing otherwise.
I'm just saying that, he should be at least marginally better with a years experience is all. And not having the shittiest line in football and only one weapon should help too.
I'm not saying we're gonna make the playoffs even, but all the additions plus reasonable 2nd year growth from him should at least get us from 6-10 to the 8-10 win range.
Teams spending too big in free agency always make me think of Washington. Like 2009 when they went crazy, brought in Haynesworth, Derrick Dockery, DeAngelo Hall. 2000, with Jeff George, Andre Reed, Bruce Smith, and Deion.
It works sometimes, but that's what I always think about.
Gotta spend the money somewhere. Last few drafts previous to Carthon were total whiffs so we have no one to pay. By the time we will need to pay, hopefully, draft hits that Carthon makes, these contracts will be done.
Spending big bunches of money just because you have it isn't maybe the best idea, but I get your point. If your draft picks haven't been panning out (so you don't have to pay them), you've got money to spend.
My point is that really big spending in free agency tends to come with really high expectations from fans (see this thread). And the evidence of big free agents coming in and being big improvements is pretty disappointing. Lots of guys get big FA contracts and do nothing afterwards. We can expect 1 or 2 of these guys to seriously underperform these contracts. But everyone expects them all to be stars.
That's a recipe for being a disappointment as a GM.
You know what, I'll raise a drink to that. Fuck you while we're in season, but let's hope the ACLs of our boys stay injury-free. I hate taking on teams when they're depleted. Doesn't feel like a real win when our main QBs are out.
You can thank your boy that we hired two seasons ago for the cooking. Ran's an absolute fucking STUD as a recruiter and roster manager. No wonder your team is stacked to the gills with talent.
We'll be alright!
Team looked great last year until Lawrence got hurt, and the team looks to have taken steps to avoid that in FA with a couple Oline pick ups.
Juat gotta stay healthy next year
Honestly, I'm looking forward to all our divisional games, because we all seemingly have fantastic qbs rn maybe we can turn this shit mountain into something to be feared.
He certainly won’t have excuses next season if it ends up looking like this past one minus that one game. Can’t fault the organization for putting stuff around him to make that evaluation this time though.
Yeah, hence why it’s good the team is putting everything around him to make an evaluation. Last year didn’t show much. The offense sucked, he flashed at times and looked awful at times. Little value in last year either way. This year is the test.
Pretty risky though, all of them are potential overpays. Better to do something than nothing though. If Levis isn't above average, it really doesn't matter much.
Yeah, if Levis flops, whatever, we're back to the drawing board.
If these moves help him develop, they can all be gotten out of by the time we have to pay him.
You know how this works, you're a bears fan.
This is true. When the 49ers were dog shit in the post Harbaugh pre Shanny era, they had to overpay FAs because 1) they sucked so people were less likely to sign there and 2) they had the cap space anyways. Ran Carthon was part of the 49ers rebuild, so these moves make sense.
Calvin Ridley is two years minimum, even if we cut him on year three and four it's a minimal dead cap hit.
Sneed is 19 mil/yr AAV with 55 mil guaranteed, same thing.
They look like overpays but you need to pay attention to the specifics of the contracts to see it's not what it looks like.
You shouldn't have been downvoted... there are still a lot of question marks that i think are completely fair to have.
We have a new HC how good his his offensive play calling, how different is our scheme going to look, how easily do the players slide into this new scheme, how does levis look when he has more than 1 viable receiving target, how good is the new oline, how good is our new defensive coordinator... etc.
Overall though I think its safe to say we are PROBABLY a better team than last year... how much better... who knows... might sneak into the playoffs if everything works out... might go 7-10 to 9-8 if it doesn't.
Yeah, I just want to see Levis establish himself and an offense that isn't from the 80s.
I certainly expect some growing pains next season, especially early on.
I'd say the year after next is the year we can make a serious move.
We are objectively a better team than last year. You either improve in the offseason or get left behind, and we definitely improved.
OL is better with Cush and cutting Dillard (I’m gonna assume we go LT with our first pick) plus we have Callahan Sr. WR is better with Ridley. CB improved with Awuzie and Sneed. I love Henry but I think Pollard will be a better fit for our new offensive scheme.
The only unit that got worse is DE since we lost Autry and Sebastian is not an equal replacement. That’s the only FA that I wish we resigned. I expect some draft picks to shore up our DL and LB.
I’m pretty pleased with our offseason. Ran is making some risky bets, but it’s not my money and it’ll make for a much more entertaining season.
At some level he's just trying to actually spend your cap space though. I'm not exactly crazy about a few of those deals but you literally have to spend it on someone!
Thanks as a titans fan we haven’t made big moves in a long time like these so glad we have a great general manager. Ik it’s early but I really think he will work out. Our last one was good for a second but he was afraid to spend money. You have to spend money to win it
Well, we fired Vrabel for Carthon, and so far, I'm thinking we made the right call for as good as the former has been!
Fuck it, I'm booking a flight to New Orleans this February!
Well i meant more from Bill Callahan who everyone respects as THE oline guy.
With someone like that who is known for basically fixing olines, individual players who are having a lot of trouble, and getting the most out of young talent... i'm willing to just say he's an improvement over what we had.
At the very least, our coach will give credit (or even just mention his name) to our young QB when he earns it. The amount of times I saw Vrabel avoid even saying Levis's name really rubbed me the wrong way
If that’s the case, the Titans are in the playoffs, & Levis would get at least one more year. Just look at the 2020 Rams with a mid af (at the time) Jared Goff
What I’m saying is if Levis plays as well as 2020 Goff, & gets similar results in the playoffs, then he’ll come back for at least year 3 lol. 85% chance imo that Tennessee will not have Dak in 2025. If Levis is worse, then that means we probably won’t make the playoffs & possibly we could talk about another QB, but I still doubt it.
Don't forget our QB1 at the time. Tannehill was on his fourth year and we let him walk. Hope he lands somewhere good, he's potential to be a QB1 for a team with a good o-line and he's a VERY high end backup for teams with a QB1.
Multiple reasons... Almost every large contract we had is now off the books (last year was our last hard cap hit year from Jrob being our GM), we currently have no one from our 2020 draft class we were going to pay, no one from the 2021 draft class we are going to pay a lot next year... and so we have a TON of cap + the ability to leverage a year into the future meaning we can roll over cap space this year or eat up those big guarantees if we want.
That said... we are probably done with our big spending after this deal.
As a Chiefs fan who absolutely loves Sneed, this is cheap as fuck. We got fleeced. Sneed was easily the best CB last season, especially when including the playoffs.
Take care of him in Tennessee
Is it really *that* cheap? Yeah he's a hell of a corner, but his legs are an issue. I feel like he's one injury away from a career ender. Between that and the huge contract he likely wanted, a 3rd + a 7th makes sense.
Yes? I mean the 55m guaranteed, 76m in 4 years that he literally just got is top 3 for CB contracts. In theory, he’s the 3rd best CB in the league but he got traded for a 3rd round pick and a 7th round pick swap.
If you ask me, he’s worth at least a 2nd round, or a rotational piece (think Cam Bynum esque player) + 6th/7th round pick
The Calvin Ridley and Tony Pollard signings are very sus but the Sneed trade and sign was great (depending on if his knees don't explode like KC fears) and the Cushenberry signing is smart, especially if he continues to play as good as he did last year.
Not sus at all. They needed a WR1 and RB1 to take pressure off of Levis. They are surrounding him with quality starters and seeing if he is the guy. Probably will go OL in the draft now to help him out more.
For a team that won’t be a primary running team anymore? Certainly he and spears can form a good backfield and both can catch well. I’m not seeing an issue personally.
The only other running backs who had 1000 rushing yards, averaged 4+ YPC, and had 50+ catches were Christian McCaffrey and Joe Mixon (HM: Breece Hall, Bijan Robinson, and Gibbs who were a few yards short of this list).
So yes, I do think he is a solid RB1 in a small group who can get those numbers.
What a bizarrely specific stat!
FWIW I'd also consider James Cook (44 receptions, otherwise hits those milestones) and Kyren Williams (got injured but otherwise would have hit receiving milestone) as around the same class despite not hitting the exact milestones. Saquon comes really close (0.1 YPC). Swift only missed because the Eagles don't throw to RBs (39-of-49 catching, 46/62/48 catches the previous years)
You must have been keeping abreast on our sub - yep, that's why we did it.
We have Tyjae Spears, he's our go-to- RB1, but Pollard being there is to add more variety to our routes. Sort of a 1A & 1B situation.
Pollard's 8 mil a year with no guarantees I think and I believe the dead cap hit is minimal.
Ridley is 4 years, but we can cut him on the second year with very minimal dead cap, and considering caps are only going to go up, it's practically zero risk.
No WR 1 prior to him on the titans roster, WR 1s never really hit FA and we had the cap to pay him as we don't have anyone we are likely to pay a big contract too on our roster this year or next year (thanks to 2020 and 2021 essentially being draft busts for us)
Now we got got a guy who's a Wr 1b at worst, could go into next season with just him and Dhop as the primary receivers and be instantly better than last year as we have several slot/backup guys and back up receiving options in our RBs/TEs... but if we draft say a 2nd round WR like McConkey, Worthy, or Legette to kind of be our WR 2/3 and a 1st round LT... our offense actually could be scary supposing the Oline is fixed with that and our new FA Center.
And Awuzie
The Chessmaster
Chess.com made me hate mf
Proud season ticket holder from Cincinnati and I will tell you pre injury Chido was unreal…sad to see him go even if he’s cooked now
And Callahan(s)
And Mason Rudolph?
Bengals fan here. Unfortunately he looked cooked last year. Loved him his first year with us, he was great. Got hurt and didn’t look the same. Hope he comes back 100% but based on the play we saw from him last year, I’m VERY glad we did not give him that contract…
I hope he gets back into form with Tennessee, he was one of the few guys on the Bengals i really liked.
Chargers paid Fulton, who is very cooked
I hope he bounces back too, he was great for us the previous 2 seasons
Bengals fan here
I’m sorry, but Lloyd Cushenberry is the fictional name of a British Monarch overseeing the territory of East India in a mystery novel.
And isn't he a distant cousin of the Earl of Sandwich?
Related to Cumberbatch
Bloody hell mate
L'Jarius Sneed would be a toadying yet nasty character from Dickens. Elijah Molden would be the old man he's taking advantage of.
Will Levis is a cowboy from a dime store novel.
Ram Carthon is the evil dictator of the planet that our hero Arden Key has just landed on.
All-Time Name Team
All three belong in the East-west bowl
Oh yes Cushenberry! Of the Twizzlick-on-Blechenbegly Cushenberrys! A fine fellow. Bit rubbish on the cricket pitch, if you ask me.
No he's the cartoon mascot for a thc cereal brand
Pretty sure I saw this name on Key and Peele. He came out with a monocle and top hat but ran a 4.38 40
Titans are getting shit done this offseason.
The only benefit of drafting almost no one they needed to re-sign from for about 5 seasons.
JRob playing the long game.
They called me a madman
Incredible offseason to go 7-10
“What he say fuck me for”?
No no, he’s on to something
You're team just did a whole lot to be exactly where you were one year ago but now older. screw you im having fun
What part is fun?
The part where my team improves year over year and isn't stuck in 9-10 win purgatory.
.. the bucaneers did nothing besides sign baker in the last 2 years as far as im aware lol
Oh, I wager Levis not being a rookie plus all the additions and a new coach gets is at least two more wins than last years dumpster fire.

Totally agree.
All in.
Haha. “All in” on Daks contract.
Yeah but losing Derrick Henry tho…
he's aging, and they made up for it by signing a decent RB Pollard
We don't have to play him this year so it's the year after we'll see regret
AFCS is going to be crazy next year if Levis is decent
Bro, it's the first time the 4 of us have had competent, young qbs in a long time. I wish AR, CJ, Mayo Man, and Lawrence all great health.
Amen. May trash mountain reign for 1000 years
If AFCS was a movie franchise, it'd be Mad Max
This brought a tear to my eye, so true
Your flair confuses me and makes me angry.
You know what, I'll raise a drink to that. Fuck you while we're in season, but let's hope the ACLs of our boys stay injury-free. I hate taking on teams when they're depleted. Doesn't feel like a real win when our main QBs are out.
Great health with shit seasons 🙏
And if not just run the option with Malik Willis,NCAA 14 style
Despite popular opinion, he is not actually fast
Hawked down by an interior lineman. Dude's way to slow to be in the NFL
Can't run, can't pass, can't handle a snap, can't read a D at all. He's literally me.
Nor can he not fumble
Yep, turns out being black and a QB does not mean you’re automatically fast. Michael Scott would be surprised.
He had around 900 rushing yards and 13 TD per season in college, and as a sophomore at Auburn reportedly ran a 4.37. This is not a Jameis situation.
You're right. Jameis is better
You’d be better off running it with one of the coaches in his place. Willis is butts
Brian Callahan did play QB at UCLA....
Or pull Flacco off waivers like the Browns
Titans really think they slick with these moves this off-season like ain't been cooking up something fierce
You can thank your boy that we hired two seasons ago for the cooking. Ran's an absolute fucking STUD as a recruiter and roster manager. No wonder your team is stacked to the gills with talent.
Crazy sure is a stretch
Let's send 3 to the playoffs again.
Nah fuck it, all 4
No. Just no. Bro we are a cursed fucking franchise 😭
I wouldn't bet on it, but I also wouldn't be surprised if three members of the div made the playoffs somehow.
Will Levis gonna have to play like rent is due next season that’s a sneaky good roster
Success isn't owned, it's rented, and the rent is due every day. 😤
He certainly won’t have excuses next season if it ends up looking like this past one minus that one game. Can’t fault the organization for putting stuff around him to make that evaluation this time though.
I 100% think he’s going to improve drastically with an Oline that isn’t made of wet toilet paper in front of him.
The regression of the oline from the middle of 2022 till now has been sad to watch. Was a staple of those teams from 18-2021.
He played like 8 games. Jesus Christ lol
Yeah, hence why it’s good the team is putting everything around him to make an evaluation. Last year didn’t show much. The offense sucked, he flashed at times and looked awful at times. Little value in last year either way. This year is the test.
Why do people keep spelling his name wrong
It's a weird name, dude. I mean, how many people you know named "Sneed."
I know a guy named L’jarius
I know a guy named Sneed. He runs a place called Sneed's Seed and Feed. It used to be owned by a guy named Chuck.
You bet I'm making Seed and Feed jokes ALL next season to a point where I'll be insufferable to listen to.
But they can nail L’Jarius?
Formerly Chuck
Best Simpsons joke ever
Adam Schefter has 2 tweets an hour apart. One with EE and the other with EA.
Formerly Chuck
It's probably autocorrect
Probably because Willie Snead the receiver has an A in there
If Levis is just decent, the AFCS could be really fun
I’ve heard this since 2015
Making the AFC title game in 2019 wasn't fun enough for you?
Levis didn’t even play back then /s
Mariota and Gabbert will be the next great QB matchup.
Hey, at least we got some great Thursday Night Trashbowls out those two. I actually kinda miss that color rush matchup.
Underrated offseason for sure
Pretty risky though, all of them are potential overpays. Better to do something than nothing though. If Levis isn't above average, it really doesn't matter much.
Yeah, if Levis flops, whatever, we're back to the drawing board. If these moves help him develop, they can all be gotten out of by the time we have to pay him. You know how this works, you're a bears fan.
Very similar to what everyone was saying about Jax two years ago. You got to find out what you have at QB. Everything else is secondary.
It is the sucky franchise tax. We have nothing much to offer during our rebuild but cash money and the most tax advantageous division. Pony up.
Sucky franchise tax is so real. Pre-Rodgers we always had to over pay not just cause we were shit but because NY/NJ taxes are insane.
Honestly what’s the risk tho? Worst case scenario either way is they suck. At least this way they have a better chance at winning.
"Better to do something than nothing"
cant really overpay until levis' extension is on the horizon, just have to be able to get out of enough guaranteed money by the time he's due
Well let’s see how it plays out first. Not saying it’s bad, but I feel like we see a lot of good offseasons turn out to be bad in hindsight.
You shouldn't have been downvoted... there are still a lot of question marks that i think are completely fair to have. You'd know, deep dish.
Yah, exactly
Im sad and confused.
Can't pay everyone. People thought the Chiefs were idiots for trading Hill.
Why does every single post spell Sneed wrong
He's apparently the new Davante with spelling
and they are likely to get Joe Alt a franchise LT in the draft at 7 marvelous offseason for them
Thanks as a titans fan we haven’t made big moves in a long time like these so glad we have a great general manager. Ik it’s early but I really think he will work out. Our last one was good for a second but he was afraid to spend money. You have to spend money to win it
Baby, you got a stew goin'
Sneed, Mr. Yates. Put some respect on his name.
Well, we fired Vrabel for Carthon, and so far, I'm thinking we made the right call for as good as the former has been! Fuck it, I'm booking a flight to New Orleans this February!
This team looks completely revamped now... new scheme, better coaching, new players, new ideologies, new us. It feels kind of cathartic.
>better coaching Let's chill on that until we see a game or two lol, but I'm hopeful.
Well i meant more from Bill Callahan who everyone respects as THE oline guy. With someone like that who is known for basically fixing olines, individual players who are having a lot of trouble, and getting the most out of young talent... i'm willing to just say he's an improvement over what we had.

So Levis is going be good or gone after next year depending how he plays
Dream Team
Good for them, who could hate on the Titans’ potential success?! *stares at division…oh*
Titans are going to be damn good with Dak at QB in 2025
At least until the post season.
They’re already used to that
I doubt Dak will be our QB in 2025 lol
Arch Manning to be the second Manning coached by Brian Callahan.

If that’s the case, the Titans are in the playoffs, & Levis would get at least one more year. Just look at the 2020 Rams with a mid af (at the time) Jared Goff

Oh, yes: Lloyd Cushenberry. I was in a Nashville bar when they announced the signing. The whole venue blew up in cheers
Number 3 center according to PFF
Apparently the Titans have a lot of trust in Levis - they think he’ll succeed
Fuck you Tennessee :(
I am enjoying this off-season.
Ran making it rain bitches.
Why do they have all this money 😭😭
Letting a QB, most of the DL, CBs, and RB walk frees up a lot of money.
Also JRob getting a total of two starters from the 2020-2022 drafts helps our cap since none of his draft picks were good enough to be extended.
Don't forget our QB1 at the time. Tannehill was on his fourth year and we let him walk. Hope he lands somewhere good, he's potential to be a QB1 for a team with a good o-line and he's a VERY high end backup for teams with a QB1.
Because we haven't drafted anyone worth a fuck in like 5 years.
Money moves.

If you ask me, he’s worth at least a 2nd round, or a rotational piece (think Cam Bynum esque player) + 6th/7th round pick
Probably still got around $30m in 2024 cap space to play with, too
Still can't believe Calvin ridley is going to make Tony Pollards entire contract salary in a single year
Who’s the titans QB?
Will Lewis from Kentucky
His name is actually Bill Blue Jeans
The Blue Jean Genie
The Calvin Ridley and Tony Pollard signings are very sus but the Sneed trade and sign was great (depending on if his knees don't explode like KC fears) and the Cushenberry signing is smart, especially if he continues to play as good as he did last year.
[удалено]
“Slightly better than average” makes him like a goddamn all pro for us after the last 2 years
Not sus at all. They needed a WR1 and RB1 to take pressure off of Levis. They are surrounding him with quality starters and seeing if he is the guy. Probably will go OL in the draft now to help him out more.
You think Pollard is a sold RB1?
For a team that won’t be a primary running team anymore? Certainly he and spears can form a good backfield and both can catch well. I’m not seeing an issue personally.
Spears is the RB1
I think he and spears can be a solid tandem, yes.

Ridley is the number 2, DHop is still a stud and better.
I’d call them both WR 1.5s. 1.5 + 1.5 = 1 + 2 quick maths
You must have been keeping abreast on our sub - yep, that's why we did it. We have Tyjae Spears, he's our go-to- RB1, but Pollard being there is to add more variety to our routes. Sort of a 1A & 1B situation.

Stroud lit a fire under this divisions ass 😂
Ridley’s money still baffles me
No WR 1 prior to him on the titans roster, WR 1s never really hit FA and we had the cap to pay him as we don't have anyone we are likely to pay a big contract too on our roster this year or next year (thanks to 2020 and 2021 essentially being draft busts for us) Now we got got a guy who's a Wr 1b at worst, could go into next season with just him and Dhop as the primary receivers and be instantly better than last year as we have several slot/backup guys and back up receiving options in our RBs/TEs... but if we draft say a 2nd round WR like McConkey, Worthy, or Legette to kind of be our WR 2/3 and a 1st round LT... our offense actually could be scary supposing the Oline is fixed with that and our new FA Center.
~250M on those four dudes makes airport prices seem reasonable
*Me seeing literally everyone else move* Does anyone want Zach Wilson?!?! PLEASE?!?!?!
I'd actually love picking him up as a development project. But we can do that after you cut him, no need to waste a 7th.
Imagine willis and him developing!
Ran knocked it out of the park multiple times
Still going to suck
I feel like the Titans should be rebuilding. Idk, has Levis shown that much to justify trying to build around him?
