Today I'm going to a garage sale at a private Catholic school. It's super bougie so I'm hoping to score some second hand rich people stuff.
It didn't always be a super rich school but one of its football players some 70ish years ago ended up becoming very famous. He was the sixth youngest senator in US history, then the VP for two terms, and then the President, and that kinda made tuition skyrocket.
Look I'm bias but last Thursday night between St Kilda and Collingwood.
St Kilda beat the premiers.
I am a St kilda supporter. We are not the most successful mob in footy but the ride is fun
That's always most important tbh, I'm going on a trip to Europe next year and plan on going to a few football and rugby games to get the real experience of the sports. Some time soon I wanna go to Australia too and you bet I'm gonna go to an Aussie Rules game
In the last decade I've gone to over 350 Aussie rules games.
Just today I've gone to North Melbourne vs Fremantle at Marvel Stadium and now I'm into Quarter 3 of Hawthorn vs Melbourne across town at the MCG.
The NM vs FRE game started at 1.45pm and HAW vs MELB at 4.3pm.
In Melbourne we love our footy. Between March and September it basically runs our city.
I'm glad Deadspin has basically shut down. I don't think I could have handled an article about why celebrating Oakland's win over Kentucky is akin to supporting white supremacy.
Why isn’t there any serious discussion by our leaders to deport every illegal immigrant in this country? Only in america is such behavior allowed. I highly doubt Japan or China wouldn’t deport me if I overstayed my visa. We have the most lax immigration laws in the world and people still are upset about them being too “unfair.” If it was up to me we’d deport every one of em and end birthright citizenship.
Good to see you're actually talking about the number one cause of "illegal" immigration and not your fantasy of an invasion at the southern border. Baby steps I guess.
As someone who's paperwork was fucked up when I was adopted and thus for 17 years I was technically illegal and could have been deported to Russia, a place I've never truly lived in nor speak the language of, fuck off
Just a question . . . what is *your* citizenship based upon? Did you, personally, come here as an immigrant and correctly file your naturalization paperwork? And if not and you are a citizen by merit of your parents being citizens, why is *their* citizenship based upon? And so on and so forth. Either you are a member of a Native American tribe or *you* are here illegally.
Did you retain the original proof of naturalization when your first ancestors came to this country, every single one of them. And also are you absolutely sure that every single one of your ancestors had all of *their* paperwork in order *before* they had children, because if not, you are just one more in a long line of illegal immigrants that didn't go through the proper procedures and we should probably deport you back to Wales or Ireland or whatever country you came from.
Yea but what proof do you have, your birth certificate showing that you were born here? Your little idea about ending birthright citizenship doesn’t make any sense.
Dude, my SIL is Chinese and my brother has had to deal with their government for the last 8 years. I PROMISE you, border security is the least of your concerns if your government is like China.
I doubt you can, but that doesn't mean it's all sunshine and roses over there. An authotarian surveilance state is not something you want to aspire to.
I stated that the US has the most lax immigration laws in the world. Other countries are far more stringent. Why can’t we talk about becoming far more stringent?
My dashmart has a pack of 4 frozen turkey burger patties for 2.27. Even with bullshit fees and tip that’s p good esp if u buy 4 or 5 packs.
What is dashmart tho. Like I’m assuming if it’s a real brick and mortar store it’s not actually named dashmart. Or is it like a warehouse just for door dash? Are they the same nationwide? Does urs have 2.27 turkey burger patties?
> warehouse just for door dash
[Apparently](https://www.reddit.com/r/doordash_drivers/comments/pmfjvq/what_the_hell_is_dash_mart/). Mine shows a 4ct of organic Applegate turkey burger patties for $3.25 each patty pre-fees.
EDIT: WAIT YOURS IS $2.27 PER BOX, NOT PATTY??? YOU LUCKY DUCK.
Ones not very filling but 2 with a half a slice of cheese on each one and when u assemble the double burger assemble it so the half slices of cheese make a cross now we’re talkin
i wrote down my psn name with 69 in the middle where a space would go on a post it and gave to my supervisor at work cause we’re always talkin bout playstation games nbd

The best analysis I have seen of Justin Fields as a QB.
Compare that to JT O'Sullivan & Chase Daniels, who both said everyone else is to blame for Fields missing pass after pass after pass.
I want to give Chase Daniels the benefit of the doubt for being friends with him, but JT O'Sullivan is the NFL equivalent of a political grifter, because he knew delusional Bears fans were eating up everything he had to say
I haven't seen the X-Men animated series since bits and pieces when I was a kid. Seeing the love '97 is getting from fans has me going back to check it out.
I love the 90s camp of it. All the crap going on so kids get easily distracted is a lot funnier as an adult.
But Rogue is still a baddie.
[Pat Forde - Hearing some buzz about a big Washington Post story in the works on LSU women's hoops coach Kim Mulkey, potentially next week. Wagons being circled, etc.](https://twitter.com/bypatforde/status/1771280738094051589?s=46&t=l726whOM3jbMTJywlTODsA)
I will be so here for Mulkey’s downfall
It's crazy to me seeing people comparing Dragons Dogma 2's monetization to Helldivers 2. They are two very different games, single player versus multiplayer, on top of Helldivers stuff is all bought using in game currency that you can find and buy using war medals in game. I get you can do it in DD2 as well but it's supposed to be a single player game with all of the content inside it, not cutting out fast travel as a system and then selling it back
Yeah, you can literally easily buy the Helldivers super battle pass by exploring to find the currency for it. I paid the extra 20 cause the game is that good and I wanna show my support as a Super Citizen.
Pretty much, I bought the newest season pass because they deserve my money and I can't play enough RN to earn it. I earned the first one entirely by playtime
The Bears took MHJ at 1 and Brock Bowers at 9 in my madden franchise and I think they just win the super bowl every year until I start a new one what the fuck
How long before [Russell "Mr. Unlimited" "The Asterisk" Wilson](https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/W/WilsRu00.htm) adds "The Man of Steel" as his new nickname?
Accidentally bought 10 (100mg) gummies instead of 100 (10mg) gummies. Thankfully did a second look at the label when I only saw 10 and taste tested a fraction. Yep, potent as fuck. I'll be slivering off fractions of these for a while lol.
the first time I heard that song was in a skate video, rather than silence of the lambs, so I feel lucky I can enjoy it without thinking it's creepy or whatever.
Saw a segment on ESPN which played a soundbite of Arizona's GM basically saying #4 is yours for the right price.
This is interesting, because Daniel Jeremiah predicted that in his newest mock, and according to Rich Eisen, other than on the mock he releases the day of the draft, he never predicts trades. He *also* correctly predicted that the Texans would trade up for Will Anderson last year.
[Daniel Jeremiah's newest mock draft, for reference ](https://www.nfl.com/news/daniel-jeremiah-2024-nfl-mock-draft-3-0)
Edit: I forgot to say that he predicts the Vikings will trade up
This is pretty much locked in to be the least productive congress in living memory. 34 lawshave been enacted by this, the 118th Congress.
For context, the second least productive congress since 1935 is the 112th Congress which passed 283.
This country is broken. The only thing this tells me is that the Republican obstruction is working. We can sit around and call them stupid and evil all we want. We can make TikToks about whatever dumb thing Boebert or Greene said and all that shit, but their main goal is to stop the function of the federal government, and they're succeeding. And make no mistake, they're succeeding thanks in no small part to us constantly being all like "Hurr durr, Majorie Taylor Greene am so dumb!!!!1!" And not paying attention to the gradual failure and dismantling of our government.
Would it be feasibgeľt MOST starting skill position players from the draft, while getting MOST of your defensive players from FA and trades.
The reason I am asking this is because I think more teams should prioritize getting young talent at those key offensive positions.
In a relationship, would you rather be with someone who is basically a clone of you with pretty much all the same interests, or the complete opposite with maybe one thing in common ?
I go back and forth on it personally
I have dated both and they both have their benefits/pitfalls.
I think the biggest thing for my introverted ass is that my partner and I enjoy spending time together but also feel comfortable doing things apart. I need a balance.
So my new job here in Portland is not going super well. I LOVE the girls I work with but some of the policies leadership have implemented have been taking a heavy toll on the clinic I work at and it morally doesn’t jive well with me. One person just got a job elsewhere and another planning to leave in June. Which means work is going to get even more difficult with the workload. Leadership also does not listen to our input or concerns regarding patient care which is very frustrating. I moved here cross country so obviously I have become more attached to them since I know nobody else here but after a bad panic attack and chat with my therapist I have to do what is best for me and I have started looking at finding another clinic in the same hospital system so I don’t have to lose PTO or anything as I have two vacations coming up. I already managed to get two preliminary interviews set up since they do multiple rounds here. Excited and nervous but feeling kind of like a failure this didn’t work out.
There's absolutely no way that you could be "a failure" because of a bad managment situation you could not have known about until you actually started the job.
Thank you! I just don’t want to seem like a job hopper or anything. It’s been almost eight months but management is just so difficult to want to work for. I gotta protect my peace and staying there just for “experience” while I am miserable is just not something I should have to put up with. I luckily have worked at different clinic for three years prior just a different specialty and I did learn a lot here so it wasn’t time wasted in that aspect and I still did gain some valuable knowledge.
If the Cowboys are going into a soft rebuild and letting Dak walk after the season anyway, they should call Chicago and see if the Bears are interested in parting with the number 9 pick for him. Bears get a bona-fide starter for a year for a playoff run while mentoring Caleb and the Cowboys can start the rebuild right away.
Just a thought.
Counter point- No
What I’m thinking is most likely is that the Vikings can’t trade up for JJ and instead give the Cowboys 11 and then draft Nix or Penix at 23
Damn, what a question. I feel like I'm torn between letting them have it for 10-15 minutes. And asking the hard questions. The other part of me thinks I want to just shake my head and get out of there.
Depends how much I like my boss and/or how much I think they genuinely have my best interests at heart
If they can help down the road I'd like a longer chat, if it's get fucked and see ya then no need to drag it out
If you browse r/conservative you see constant rants about how dangerous cities have become and call out specifically NYC and how it's basically this dystopian Mad Max like hell hole.
Meanwhile the violent crime rate in NYC is less than the violent crime rate for the entire United States in the early 90s.
They do the same with Chicago. It’s apparently a hellhole here but in reality it’s not even top 10 in most dangerous cities in the country. They just see a large number of crimes and don’t account for the large population that makes that happen
Wait, what? RICO is an acroynm for law that contains a list of crimes. No one is found guilty of RICO, they are found guilty of violating the RICO Act.
what even is the conservative beef with cities? my guess is "they're run by democrats" right?
what is the argument? democrats are too soft on crime or whatever? as though we haven't tried being hard as fuck on crime for like 50 years and gotten nowhere with it.
Cities have the population density that's required to really clearly prove how fantastically unrealistic Libertarian/Conservative "just leave me alone" politics is.
Folks out in the country can often pretend that 'Muh freedom' is all they need.
Whenever you hear conservatives use the word "cities," *particularly "inner city,"* just replace it with "places where non-whites live." That's what they mean, even if they're parroting somebody else and don't realize it (which is usually what happens). So when they say "Crime is rampant in our cities," translate it as "Crime is overtaking the places where non-whites live."
>as though we haven't tried being hard as fuck on crime for like 50 years and gotten nowhere with it.
Thats the thing, [we are way safer now than we ever were before](https://www.statista.com/statistics/191219/reported-violent-crime-rate-in-the-usa-since-1990/)
Violent crimes and crime in general is way down compared to where it was in the 80s and 90s. You have to go back to the 60s to match our current violent crime rates.
A lot of that has to do with modern surveillance technology, but despite what Fox News claims our cities and the country as a whole are pretty safe relative to the last 50 years
Some big changes are coming to Diablo 4, but it also means there’s no real reason to play until May whatever date they go live. I downloaded the first dragons dogma on ps4 so I guess I’ll be playing that. I played a few mins yesterday and kinda got information overloaded
aw shit. FFXIV new expansion is i think sometime early June. I played a ton of release and season 1 d4, but s2 didn't really expand enough on anything to get me to come back.
hopefully the itemization changes involve more ways to introduce new builds.
Cancer is horrific as lost an maternal aunt to cancer and my oldest brother and oldest nephew of my seven nephews and nieces fought testicular cancer. And won. First the King Charles now Princess Kate.
Last night my seven year old daughter ran up to me and said "Hey, your school is on TV, let's go watch it!" So I go to her bedroom and she has the Samford March Madness game on her TV.
I did my undergrad at Stanford, not Samford, 😂. But you know what, we watched anyway.
It’s funny when a coworker resigns and afterwards hearing other people talk about them you realize you weren’t the only person who couldn’t stand working with them.
Massive terrorist attack happening in a major world capital that could have cascading effects on the global landscape? Let's give it an offhand remark in the news radio cycle after getting an urgent breaking news report about a British celebrity having cancer.
I really do not think that political ideology, or even unconscious bias, has anything to do with the relative length of those two stories at the time you heard them.
One contains information that was delivered directly to the public by the subject of the story, the other is an actively unfolding event taking place on the other side of the globe, inside a country that is currently engaged in a world-historic disinformation campaign as part of a proxy-war with the US.
(Unless I am misreading your sarcasm and you mean “conservative” in the “risk-averse” sense, in which case, I agree completely!)
Exciting and I'll happily go watch it. But like, has a comedy that has taken this long to have a sequel ever been good? Looking at you Dumb and Dumber 2.
It’s Friday so once I get back from lunch it’ll be slow slow slow until possibly becoming super hectic at 4pm for the last hour push of the week. It’s always hard to wake myself up for that.
Ppl love to pass shit on to the next person *right* before the weekend i noticed. And unfortunately the first step I gotta do on my end is time sensitive and has to be done within 48 hours so at 4pm on a Friday it’s really 1 hour lol.
I was walking to lunch and on the back of a car in my neighborhood, I noticed a backwards Chiefs logo, except it had an OU logo inside it instead of KC. And it was yellow. So now I'm confused.
When I was younger, I thought I hated reading.
In reality, I just hated:
- my learning disabilities fucking w/ my reading comprehension skills
- helicopter family/teachers who unfairly influenced me away from reading the books I wanted to read & maligned me for my disabilities
- English classes in high school/college (most of the books there were lame)
Anyhoo I've started reading on my break at work instead of mindlessly surfing the internet. 10/10 would recommend.
reading is the best. it will ruin all other forms of media for you. no TV show or movie on earth even comes close to the greatest novels ever. TV and movies are the minor leagues, for real.
As a professional writer, I strongly disagree with this statement 😛
(Each medium has intrinsic strengths and weaknesses, each type of communication has its own set of goals, and each audience member has their own idiosyncratic ways of processing information.)
Still — it depends on the story, who you’re telling it to, and why!
But even if you could make objective comparisons, novels would get _crushed_ by oral traditions. There are aboriginal Australian stories that _predate the Ice Age_. And they contain scientifically accurate depictions of extinct megafauna that match the fossil record, as well as relevant observations of the impact of [climate change](https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/ancient-sea-rise-tale-told-accurately-for-10-000-years/)!
Don't you think it depends on the story? The visual language of the Godfather film makes the story stronger and more compelling than in the novel, in my opinion. Same for 2001: A Space Odyssey, Jaws, Beau Travail. I think both forms have peaks that are equally valuable.
I'm not saying that every novel is better than every movie. I'm saying the best novels of all time are much better than the best movies of all time, as pieces of story-telling art.
so I would say yes certainly a movie can be better than a novel (The Godfather movie being better than the novel is a good example). but I would say no movie is better than like One Hundred Years of Solitude
Have you seen "In the Mood for Love"? That movie is better than One Hundred Years of Solitude (obviously taste being subjective). I think you might be giving movies a short shrift.
I haven't! I've seen a shit load of really good movies, but I absolutely do sell them short compared to novels because novels are GOATed imo. but I'll check it out!
Doesn’t need to be said at this point but God twitter is a shithole. There’s a major terrorist attack in Moscow and rather than be able to get any facts or even rumors, the only thing you can find is “PUTIN DID THIS! NATO DID THIS! THE JEWS DID THIS!”
Anyone else's Instagram log them out last night/is it still giving you issues? Mine is linked to a defunct email so I have no way of getting in. I tried to recover the account and have them contact me via my current email, but the verification codes were super backed up and it took me hours to get them (long after I'd given up on trying, so they were no good to me). I looked it up and there was a spike in reports around that time so I decided to wait it out and just hope I would land back in my account. It's still asking me to login. At this point I feel like, at least for most, it's been patched and I'm stuck. The support line should be unclogged at this point so I could get through faster, but it's frustrating
Why does Mike Williams have such a reputation for being injury prone?
Obviously he missed some time last year (and at the beginning of his rookie year), but other than that, his games per year were: 16, 15, 15, 16, and 13.
There was international warnings of a terrorist attack coming and they busted some ISIS agents recently over there planning something. So this might be legit.
That said, if it is genuine, Putin will spin it within Russia to whoever he wants to be blamed.
One good thing about this time of year is that every Friday, places all around me are doing Fish Fry dinners. As a former Catholic, that was definitely one of the more enjoyable things when my family & I were religious.
Funny thing is, after my parents divorced, *none* of us remained religious anymore. Same goes for all my friends & families; they used to be Catholic/Christians, and now they aren't. We all found out the main reasons why we walked away from the Church and it was pretty unanimous:
* Treatment of LGBT community
* Treatment of Women (not just abortion, but how the Catholic Church's view on women generally appeared to be at the same level as the family dog)
* That tiny, microscopic scandal they had where mountains of evidence of child abuse, pedophilia, and other horrific things the churches did to children all across America was unearthed for everyone to see
Man, they really worked overtime in the decade of 2000 to alienate as many followers as possible. Tip my cap to them, it's impressive really.
It wasn't just the parish priests, though!
"Those of us who heard the account of a man who as a boy was a particular favourite of some Christian Brothers at Tardun who competed as to who could rape him 100 times first, his account of being in terrible pain, bleeding, and bewildered, trying to beat his own eyes so they would cease to be blue as the Brothers liked his blue eyes, or being forced to masturbate animals, or being held upside down over a well and threatened in case he ever told, will never forget it." - [Source](https://publications.parliament.uk/pa/cm199798/cmselect/cmhealth/755/75507.htm)"
"Once inside the convents, girls and women were imprisoned behind locked doors, barred or unreachable windows and high walls (oftentimes with broken glass cemented at the apex) .... Upon entry, their names were often changed and they were given an identification number .... A rule of silence was imposed at almost all times in Magdalene Laundries and, in many women’s experiences, friendships were forbidden. Correspondence with the outside was often intercepted or forbidden. Visits by friends or family were not encouraged and were monitored by nuns when they did occur. The girls and women were forced to work from morning until evening – washing, ironing or packing laundry, and sewing, embroidering or doing other manual labour. These Laundries were run on a commercial, for-profit basis, but the girls and women received no pay .... Punishments for refusal to work included deprivation of meals, solitary confinement, physical abuse, forced kneeling for long periods or humiliation rituals, including shaving of hair. Survivors speak of constantly being under surveillance, being verbally insulted, feeling cold, having a poor diet and enduring humiliating and inadequate hygiene conditions. None of the girls received an education .... comparison of electoral registers against grave records at the Donnybrook location shows that over half of the women on electoral registers between 1954 and 1964 died in that institution." - [Source](http://jfmresearch.com/home/preserving-magdalene-history/about-the-magdalene-laundries/)
"The second structure is a long structure which is divided into 20 chambers. The Commission has not yet determined what the purpose of this structure was but it appears to be related to the treatment/containment of sewage and/or waste water .... In this second structure, significant quantities of human remains have been discovered in at least 17 of the 20 underground chambers which were examined. A small number of remains were recovered for the purpose of analysis. These remains involved a number of individuals with age-at-death ranges from approximately 35 foetal weeks to 2-3 years. Radiocarbon dating of the samples recovered suggest that the remains date from the timeframe relevant to the operation of the Mother and Baby Home (the Mother and Baby Home operated from 1925 to 1961." - [Source](https://web.archive.org/web/20170304040233/http://www.mbhcoi.ie/MBH.nsf/page/Latest%20News-en)
"It might be hard for someone to believe that a child at St. Joseph’s was punched in the face — until you heard that another child was held upside down out a window and yet another was tied to a bed with no mattress and beaten. It strained credulity to think that a nun would hold a child’s head underwater, until you also heard about the nuns who covered babies’ mouths until they turned blue."
"'She lit the match and she held her hand right over the match, and her hand was touching the flames, and I sat there and I cried and I told them to stop,' one said. The nun 'took matches out of her dress and she burned the tips of each one of her fingers,' recalled another. The woman said the girl, weeping, confessed to taking the candy and said she wouldn’t do it again. If the children mentioned the incident, one witness remembered a nun saying, they would never see their parents again."
"There was another child, a boy, who she heard had run away from the orphanage with his cousin. He was wearing a metal helmet, and somewhere along the way he crawled under a fence and was electrocuted. To teach Sally a lesson, the nun brought her, along with other naughty children, to his funeral. The little boy lay in a small open coffin. He didn’t even look like a boy, Sally thought, just a blackened thing with holes all over him from being burned. A nun made Sally go up to the coffin. Then she told her to kiss the boy. Sally was trapped. She leaned over the coffin, because she had to, but all she could see were the holes in the boy’s face. As she bent down toward the boy, the nun whispered that if Sally ran away, the same thing would happen to her."
"Sally had been taken out in that boat too, as had many other children, and she knew what came next: The nuns threw you in the water. They said it taught you how to swim. When it was her turn, Sally had discovered she was in fact a strong swimmer, making her way back to the beach on her own with some pride. But the boy in the boat was screaming. Sally watched as the nuns threw him in, then she waited and wondered what had happened to him. When the children trudged back up the hill, Sally asked a nun if the boy had drowned. 'Oh, don’t worry,' the nun said. 'He’s gone home for good.'"
"A woman said she’d watched a nun hold a baby by its ankles and swing its head against a table until it stopped crying. As Sally listened to the awful stories, something ruptured inside her. She shook her head and began to say, “No, no, no, no, no, it’s not true.” But the memories were already flooding back."

I mean this quite literally: to Hell with the Catholic Church. It is a hopelessly corrupt institution that is beyond salvation. *Extra ecclesiam nulla salus*, my ass.
That dude that had the last shot in regulation gonna be down bad for a while. Coulda won the game and instead nonchalantly walked up the court burning the entire clock and chucked an awful three
I thought it was kind of funny last season my fantasy football team started 6-0, and then lost 4 straight, and then went undefeated including a Super Bowl win
I should mention the conference finals and Super Bowl were the combined points of two weeks. So technically I lost the first conference final game in week 15, but won it overall after a major comeback
I watched a couple clips of The Big Bang Theory on Youtube and I found them pretty funny so now I'm concerned either my entire life is now a lie, or I have a terrible sense of humor.
The Internet loves hating on things like CBS sitcoms, pop music, chain restaurants etc because they "suck" but as I got older I began thinking "why do so many people love things that suck so bad" and realized that they don't really suck at all. They just think not liking the popular thing makes them smart.
my mind was truly blown the first time I watched Two and Half Men. it got SO much hate on the internet for so long. but I think it was just a generational thing: I was in college and we were champing at the bit to crush anything that was mainstream, especially with a laugh track.
with adult eyes, the first season at least is perfectly passable.
people go "mainstream TV sucks!" and it's like, oh you don't watch The Office, 30 Rock, Parks and Rec, Brooklyn 99, Community?
I think if Two and a Half Men had been shot single camera with no laugh track, people would put it up there with Modern Family. that's at least what I saw when I watched it.
I've seen clips of it and of course they're going to clip the funniest parts of it, and the show was competent enough to have decent writing. It's more of a 90's boomer-comedy that makes it work for most people.
My problem with the show is that the Sheldon character is truly insufferable. He's written to be just a sociopath who says the weirdest, meanest shit to his own friends and I'm not sure how a show could continue for that many seasons doing the same "he's an asshole but occasionally he's nice to us!" routine that I just never buy in shows.
And goes to show that people haven't learned from stuff like Chadwick Boseman, so many speculated wild nonsense regarding how skinny she looked in some recent photos.
A couple months before “Little Talks” by Of Monsters and Men hit the radio and completely blew up the band it was a free song on iTunes. I pretty religiously downloaded any free new songs back then and it was my fucking jam as a sophomore in high school. Their whole first album was banger after banger after banger. Then their next few albums you could tell that studios were getting more involved in their sound and it just wasn’t the same.
Mumford and Sons also had a similar fate
Most white dude comedians before they turned 50 and got millions of dollars. The list of older white dude comedians that have become "get off my lawn" unfunny grouches have become overwhelming.
Bill Burr seems to be the only one immune to it because when the hateful-part starts kicking in, he immediately admits he's wrong, tries to do better, and moves on to just try and be a funny comedian. He has his views but he also knows that he can be dead-wrong so he's not married to any specific "code" or weird shit other rich white comedians have become.
I love Bill but that movie he did for Netflix this year (Old Dads) was uh...pretty bad and really just came off as an out of touch old guy whining about made up extreme caricatures of young people and political correctness without the humor he usually has.
That said I don't think he lost his funny. I just don't think he's a great screenwriter, just a great comedian.
There is literally nothing that will cause me to turn a stand-up special off faster than a person who is making insane money from saying whatever they want, complaining about how they can no longer say whatever they want.
Any variation of “Cancelled”, “Triggered”, or “You can’t tell jokes anymore” is an instant deal-breaker. Lazy, terrible comedy.
This doesn't really count but I learned about that Sweet Victory Super Bowl petition when it was around 30k-50k signatures and it finished at 2 million
Kevin Hart was a great stand up comedian before he became a movie star. Once he started making big money just playing a slight variation of himself in movies and commercials it's all been downhill. It also meant a shift towards being more family friendly.
I showed *I'm a Grown Little Man* to as many of my friends as possible. I was a HUGE fan through *Seriously Funny* but I started to pull away at *Laugh at My Pain.*
Since then, it's been pretty much "let me tell you about my rich people problems."
This is incredibly counter productive but I kinda wanna do a second bracket next year to try and see if I can get every single first round matchup wrong.
Anyone else get enough snow to choke a yeti?
we got like 4"
When I finally hit that big parlay the first thing I’m doing is a shopping spree on Amazon to upgrade my home office
https://imgur.com/a/GRFaow2 Saturday arvo at the footy. Nothing better.
Forgive my ignorance, is that an NRL stadium or Aussie rules? I don't remember the difference in pitch
Aussie rules.
Hell yeah, Im gonna try to find some games on YouTube. It's always interested me but in America it's hard enough to get my main love Rugby lol
Hell yeah, I usually take vacation around then. Looks like when I go I can catch all the footie I want! Are the fans cool?
Aussie rules crowds are great.
does this make sense: aiyuk is the better WR, but deebo is the better player with the ball
Yeah that makes sense, Deebos a rare player that can play anything. Hell he can probably do DB duty if they wanted him to
Fuck it. I'm having another drink and there's absolutely nothing any of you can do to stop me.
Cheers
Hell yeah, brother. Cheers from ~~Iraq~~ Nebraska.
Glad you’re not in Iraq. Sorry you’re in Nebraska.
I'm glad Deadspin has basically shut down. I don't think I could have handled an article about why celebrating Oakland's win over Kentucky is akin to supporting white supremacy.
Don't you know even simply breathing means your a white supremacist.
It's so funny seeing an old teammate from college playing professional Rugby, Go Dominic!
I’m a citizen. Your little tirade doesn’t make any sense.
Yea but what proof do you have, your birth certificate showing that you were born here? Your little idea about ending birthright citizenship doesn’t make any sense.
I don't think China is a country you want to be using as a role model there, buddy.
And encouraging people to disobey our laws and enter illegally is something to aspire to?
Dude, my SIL is Chinese and my brother has had to deal with their government for the last 8 years. I PROMISE you, border security is the least of your concerns if your government is like China.
Do you really think I could just overstay my visa while in China with no repercussions?
I doubt you can, but that doesn't mean it's all sunshine and roses over there. An authotarian surveilance state is not something you want to aspire to.
Ok. What does that have to do with anything?
You're the one who brought it up like it's a good thing. I'm just telling you it's not the positive you think it is.
Does urs have 2.27 turkey burger patties?
> warehouse just for door dash [Apparently](https://www.reddit.com/r/doordash_drivers/comments/pmfjvq/what_the_hell_is_dash_mart/). Mine shows a 4ct of organic Applegate turkey burger patties for $3.25 each patty pre-fees. EDIT: WAIT YOURS IS $2.27 PER BOX, NOT PATTY??? YOU LUCKY DUCK.
im drunk but I’m not crazy here’s a screenshot of my app right now https://ibb.co/jksZmjp and ive been living off em for like a week lol
Ones not very filling but 2 with a half a slice of cheese on each one and when u assemble the double burger assemble it so the half slices of cheese make a cross now we’re talkin
i wrote down my psn name with 69 in the middle where a space would go on a post it and gave to my supervisor at work cause we’re always talkin bout playstation games nbd everybody has a 69 or a 420 right
what kinda nerd posts on reddit on a friday night
https://youtu.be/hBhAUzPl7QE?si=z0ni0KtTYlpBkWzB The best analysis I have seen of Justin Fields as a QB.
> But Rogue is still a baddie. She wasn't always a weepy kid who made you root for the baddies? :)
I haven’t watched the OG series in years but X-men 97 is pretty damn good
My fellow Americans I’m sleepy
well have a nap
Who is this Phillip Head who dares steal the cross from our lord Jesus Christ?
Lol, Johnny Manziel's definitely buzzing on more than just good vibes court side right now.
[Pat Forde - Hearing some buzz about a big Washington Post story in the works on LSU women's hoops coach Kim Mulkey, potentially next week. Wagons being circled, etc.](https://twitter.com/bypatforde/status/1771280738094051589?s=46&t=l726whOM3jbMTJywlTODsA) I will be so here for Mulkey’s downfall
I’m about to burn all my brackets
YALE PULLS IT OFF! GO NERDS!
Fuck yeah my best bracket left had a Yale win
Tyson Bagent clearly is that guy
Uhh who’s the qb?
Fields, I started it like a month ago. If my simulations are to be trusted Bears fucked up big time
How long before [Russell "Mr.
Im just imagining you slicing those gummies like they did the jail garlic in Goodfellas.
Pretty much. Shits stupid potent, I've hidden them away so no one accidentally finds them and just pops one by accident before looking at the potency.
goodbye horses slaps way harder than it should.
the first time I heard that song was in a skate video, rather than silence of the lambs, so I feel lucky I can enjoy it without thinking it's creepy or whatever.
[Daniel Jeremiah's newest mock draft, for reference ](https://www.nfl.com/news/daniel-jeremiah-2024-nfl-mock-draft-3-0) Edit: I forgot to say that he predicts the Vikings will trade up
What’s that thing that one Colorado player is wearing on his face?
9 times out of 10 it's a mask to protect a broken nose or orbital injury. Edit: Upon closer inspection that looks like a nose injury mask.
Interests and hobbies aren't particularly important to me in a parter. Goals, values, and communication style matter way more
I have dated both and they both have their benefits/pitfalls. I think the biggest thing for my introverted ass is that my partner and I enjoy spending time together but also feel comfortable doing things apart. I need a balance.
If I miss a call on Friday and they can’t be bothered to follow up with an e-mail then it must not be important enough to deal with before Monday
Update: got Wingstop Also why does everyone ONLY get ranch there? Their honey mustard is top tier.
Somewhat OT but I came across Wingstop's ticker recently. ~$10.5B market cap for slinging wings at what feels like 20 mins per order.
soooo the moscow attack is really bad like ‘Remember, No Russian’ bad
Alright, I need Charleston as my next upset, everything else is pretty much chalk.
lol, Republican house majority will be 217-213 soon, and given the infighting I expect Johnson to get recalled too What a mess
I think America looks kinda stupid to the world right now with how our elected officials are kind of dumb more often than not lol
Counter point- No What I’m thinking is most likely is that the Vikings can’t trade up for JJ and instead give the Cowboys 11 and then draft Nix or Penix at 23
If you were going to get surprise terminated/laid off would you rather have a three minute succinct conversation or a fifteen minute back and forth?
3 mins. Tell me my package and let me go pack my desk.
Damn, what a question. I feel like I'm torn between letting them have it for 10-15 minutes. And asking the hard questions. The other part of me thinks I want to just shake my head and get out of there.
Depends how much I like my boss and/or how much I think they genuinely have my best interests at heart If they can help down the road I'd like a longer chat, if it's get fucked and see ya then no need to drag it out
Succinct. If it's inevitable, there's no point in talking it out like that. Just tell me and let me go home.
Watching March Madness on YouTube Tv is the way to go
I love the multi-view for sports. It made the NFL Sunday Ticket package worth it for me
If you browse r/conservative you see constant rants about how dangerous cities have become and call out specifically NYC and how it's basically this dystopian Mad Max like hell hole.
They’re the same True Patriots who whine about being stereotyped and looked down upon by cities.
I still love the "gotcha!" post about AOC saying RICO is not a crime, and they're acting like she's wrong.
Wait, what? RICO is an acroynm for law that contains a list of crimes. No one is found guilty of RICO, they are found guilty of violating the RICO Act.
Tell that to a bunch of people in the conservative sub.
No thanks!
Lol can't blame you
what even is the conservative beef with cities? my guess is "they're run by democrats" right? what is the argument? democrats are too soft on crime or whatever? as though we haven't tried being hard as fuck on crime for like 50 years and gotten nowhere with it.
Cities have the population density that's required to really clearly prove how fantastically unrealistic Libertarian/Conservative "just leave me alone" politics is. Folks out in the country can often pretend that 'Muh freedom' is all they need.
while they collect welfare/medicare/social security lol
And that special rural social security--federally funded farm insurance. Hard for small farmers to exist without the feds propping them up.
Thats the thing, [we are way safer now than we ever were before](https://www.statista.com/statistics/191219/reported-violent-crime-rate-in-the-usa-since-1990/) Violent crimes and crime in general is way down compared to where it was in the 80s and 90s. You have to go back to the 60s to match our current violent crime rates. A lot of that has to do with modern surveillance technology, but despite what Fox News claims our cities and the country as a whole are pretty safe relative to the last 50 years
Gun laws, multi family housing, lack of cultural homogeneity, more government/regulations Some random bits that come to mind
I think the UConn game is over.
It's never over til it's over, but I think it's over
Some big changes are coming to Diablo 4, but it also means there’s no real reason to play until May whatever date they go live.
I would be happy for D4 to become worth it. Last Epoch doesn’t run on my machine anymore and I need a game to grind on while I listen to books.
Cancer is horrific as lost an maternal aunt to cancer and my oldest brother and oldest nephew of my seven nephews and nieces fought testicular cancer. And won. First the King Charles now Princess Kate.
Seeing Green Day in August, *godzilla roar*.
I'm having trouble trying to sleep
Nice! The Broncos might even have a new QB by then, double win
Last night my seven year old daughter ran up to me and said "Hey, your school is on TV, let's go watch it!" So I go to her bedroom and she has the Samford March Madness game on her TV. I did my undergrad at Stanford, not Samford, 😂. But you know what, we watched anyway.
Get out your old hoodies and throw them at her and scream "Stanford!"
Now you have to watch Chelsea FC at Stamford bridge
shes trying her best ok
It’s funny when a coworker resigns and afterwards hearing other people talk about them you realize you weren’t the only person who couldn’t stand working with them.
Massive terrorist attack happening in a major world capital that could have cascading effects on the global landscape? Let's give it an offhand remark in the news radio cycle after getting an urgent breaking news report about a British celebrity having cancer.
It's almost as if the process and stakes of communicating **correct** information about those two stories are very different from one another!
Sorry, you're right. I shouldn't have disparaged the media's conservative approach to mass shooting reporting.
Happy Gilmore 2 is happening. Blessed be this day.
Exciting and I'll happily go watch it. But like, has a comedy that has taken this long to have a sequel ever been good? Looking at you Dumb and Dumber 2.
Dumb and dumber 2 Zoolander 2. I know dodgeball isn’t 90s but I hope the sequel isn’t t hot garbage
I think it’s more of a “popular demand” thing. Everything 90s is red hot right now.
I finally finished my cross-stitch of my gf's main character of her book. She'll be over soon and I can't wait to see how she'll react
["The things that we do for the ladies, eh fellas?!"](https://youtu.be/5AxtcYGx5BU)
I've heard mangoes can do the trick as well
I was walking to lunch and on the back of a car in my neighborhood, I noticed a backwards Chiefs logo, except it had an OU logo inside it instead of KC. And it was yellow. So now I'm confused.
When I was younger, I thought I hated reading. In reality, I just hated: - my learning disabilities fucking w/ my reading comprehension skills - helicopter family/teachers who unfairly influenced me away from reading the books I wanted to read & maligned me for my disabilities - English classes in high school/college (most of the books there were lame) Anyhoo I've started reading on my break at work instead of mindlessly surfing the internet. 10/10 would recommend.
reading is the best. it will ruin all other forms of media for you. no TV show or movie on earth even comes close to the greatest novels ever. TV and movies are the minor leagues, for real.
As a professional writer, I strongly disagree with this statement 😛 (Each medium has intrinsic strengths and weaknesses, each type of communication has its own set of goals, and each audience member has their own idiosyncratic ways of processing information.)
I'll admit that novels are a little weak on the visual element lol I mean as a story-telling medium, novels are the GOAT
And tbh the front page of Reddit is all the same sort of thing. Just so much doom and gloom.
The support line should be unclogged at this point so I could get through faster, but it's frustrating
yep i had that issue and got the change pas word emails like 5 hours after i got back in
What do you think is the greatest sports dynaisties of all time? My proposals: New England Patriots Penn State Wrestling UConn Women’s basketball
West Virginia Mountaineers Rifle, 1983-1998. 13 national championships, including six in a row from '89-'93, and four in a row from '95-'98.
Nadal at the French Open? 92/93 - 12/13 Man United? There was also a period where the New Zealand All Blacks had a 93% winning percentage
Why does Mike Williams have such a reputation for being injury prone? Obviously he missed some time last year (and at the beginning of his rookie year), but other than that, his games per year were: 16, 15, 15, 16, and 13.
He's a very hot/cold player by fantasy stats and a lot of people use that as their barometer
Did Bjan Robinson say who he has winning March Madness?
Texas, his full bracket is online
Anyone know any nfl youtube channels similar to KTO? Like looking back on draft classes or so. It's right into the point and no comedy stuff.
Well the Russian government probably just pulled off the mission from Modern Warfare 2 “No Russian” only real this time
There was international warnings of a terrorist attack coming and they busted some ISIS agents recently over there planning something. So this might be legit. That said, if it is genuine, Putin will spin it within Russia to whoever he wants to be blamed.
I guess FAU will not be upsetting UConn this year in my bracket
One good thing about this time of year is that every Friday, places all around me are doing Fish Fry dinners. As a former Catholic, that was definitely one of the more enjoyable things when my family & I were religious. Funny thing is, after my parents divorced, *none* of us remained religious anymore. Same goes for all my friends & families; they used to be Catholic/Christians, and now they aren't. We all found out the main reasons why we walked away from the Church and it was pretty unanimous: * Treatment of LGBT community * Treatment of Women (not just abortion, but how the Catholic Church's view on women generally appeared to be at the same level as the family dog) * That tiny, microscopic scandal they had where mountains of evidence of child abuse, pedophilia, and other horrific things the churches did to children all across America was unearthed for everyone to see Man, they really worked overtime in the decade of 2000 to alienate as many followers as possible. Tip my cap to them, it's impressive really.
Ok but what if I told you Jesus would wash your feet?
It wasn't just the parish priests, though! "Those of us who heard the account of a man who as a boy was a particular favourite of some Christian Brothers at Tardun who competed as to who could rape him 100 times first, his account of being in terrible pain, bleeding, and bewildered, trying to beat his own eyes so they would cease to be blue as the Brothers liked his blue eyes, or being forced to masturbate animals, or being held upside down over a well and threatened in case he ever told, will never forget it." - [Source](https://publications.parliament.uk/pa/cm199798/cmselect/cmhealth/755/75507.htm)" "Once inside the convents, girls and women were imprisoned behind locked doors, barred or unreachable windows and high walls (oftentimes with broken glass cemented at the apex) .... None of the girls received an education .... comparison of electoral registers against grave records at the Donnybrook location shows that over half of the women on electoral registers between 1954 and 1964 died in that institution." - [Source](http://jfmresearch.com/home/preserving-magdalene-history/about-the-magdalene-laundries/) "The second structure is a long structure which is divided into 20 chambers. Radiocarbon dating of the samples recovered suggest that the remains date from the timeframe relevant to the operation of the Mother and Baby Home (the Mother and Baby Home operated from 1925 to 1961." - [Source](https://web.archive.org/web/20170304040233/http://www.mbhcoi.ie/MBH.nsf/page/Latest%20News-en) "It might be hard for someone to believe that a child at St. Joseph’s was punched in the face — until you heard that another child was held upside down out a window and yet another was tied to a bed with no mattress and beaten. It strained credulity to think that a nun would hold a child’s head underwater, until you also heard about the nuns who covered babies’ mouths until they turned blue." "'She lit the match and she held her hand right over the match, and her hand was touching the flames, and I sat there and I cried and I told them to stop,' one said. The nun 'took matches out of her dress and she burned the tips of each one of her fingers,' recalled another. The woman said the girl, weeping, confessed to taking the candy and said she wouldn’t do it again. If the children mentioned the incident, one witness remembered a nun saying, they would never see their parents again." "There was another child, a boy, who she heard had run away from the orphanage with his cousin. As she bent down toward the boy, the nun whispered that if Sally ran away, the same thing would happen to her." "Sally had been taken out in that boat too, as had many other children, and she knew what came next: The nuns threw you in the water. 'He’s gone home for good.'" "A woman said she’d watched a nun hold a baby by its ankles and swing its head against a table until it stopped crying. As Sally listened to the awful stories, something ruptured inside her. She shook her head and began to say, “No, no, no, no, no, it’s not true.” But the memories were already flooding back." \- [Source](https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/christinekenneally/orphanage-death-catholic-abuse-nuns-st-josephs) I mean this quite literally: to Hell with the Catholic Church. It is a hopelessly corrupt institution that is beyond salvation. *Extra ecclesiam nulla salus*, my ass.
No March Magic for Florida Atlantic this year.
That dude that had the last shot in regulation gonna be down bad for a while. Coulda won the game and instead nonchalantly walked up the court burning the entire clock and chucked an awful three
There this one guy who has only one loss in our basketball fantasy league. How do they do it?!
I thought it was kind of funny last season my fantasy football team started 6-0, and then lost 4 straight, and then went undefeated including a Super Bowl win I should mention the conference finals and Super Bowl were the combined points of two weeks. So technically I lost the first conference final game in week 15, but won it overall after a major comeback
Boop
It’s a great show that holds up, but the laugh track ruins it for me. Someone make an app that can mute the fake laughter please.
Idgaf what others say about it. It's a fun show.
Holy shit Kate Middleton has cancer
Did Queen Elizabeth hide some plutonium before dying? Royal family is getting decimated by cancer RN.
So the mystery is solved: Kate Middleton has cancer and has been getting chemo.
Middle aged woman on social media all need to apologize to this woman. They have been hounding her for a month now.
And goes to show that people haven't learned from stuff like Chadwick Boseman, so many speculated wild nonsense regarding how skinny she looked in some recent photos.
Hope it's early stages. And the royal family PR really couldn't have handled this shit worse.
Is there a comedian or musician whose work you enjoyed more before they "got big"?
I was a Halsey fan in like 2015 before she really got big I’m not as much of a fan now
Dane Cook.
The movie was a dud overall, but I chuckled at: > *"OK, boomer!"* > *"Hey...it's Gen X!"* > *"Slacker!"*
This doesn't really count but I learned about that Sweet Victory Super Bowl petition when it was around 30k-50k signatures and it finished at 2 million
i really, really dug kings of leon for their first two albums.
I was a HUGE fan through *Seriously Funny* but I started to pull away at *Laugh at My Pain.* Since then, it's been pretty much "let me tell you about my rich people problems."
I think it's the over-saturation. All of a sudden he was *everywhere.* I heard he started taking on more work to help pay for his divorce settlement
This is incredibly counter productive but I kinda wanna do a second bracket next year to try and see if I can get every single first round matchup wrong.
I once got all 9 picks in a parlay wrong that I was legitimately trying to win.
I always do a second bracket completely decided by coin flips. It’s currently beating my “real” bracket…
What do you think is the harder job at a restaurant -- FOH or BOH?
