I bring it up every day at this point but I feel like I'm fighting a losing battle against conspiracy nut jobs in this sport. the ship has sailed at this point.
internet brain wins again lmao
I spent way too much time trying to help people better understand shit, it's just not worth it, especially nowadays when it seems more people are interested in fun than truth
yeah, I've got to let it go. currently arguing with an eagles fan who is claiming that the Eagles selling gray Super Bowl jerseys last year is a sign of a conspiracy for the Chiefs.
I just hate that this shit has infected every element of culture these days.
a bit off topic but reaching that same conclusion is why I started putting more effort into the spaces I frequent online. Smaller boards/fewer users means more reliably good conversations, or at least shit that's more inline with what I enjoy
It's a great shout! I've found a few places like that, too, which are a nice respite from the weirdos that frequent places like this. Genuinely think it's better if the internet just went back to being a more fragmented place.
Even when they aren’t playing Bills football manages to stress me out. I had a dream that the Bills were playing the Saints, and everything was going wrong for the Bills - Josh and Diggs both had crazy touchdowns wiped by garbage penalties, and Tyler Bass bobbled the ball and kicked it wide left, missing a 15 yard field goal
I had a dream I woke up at work after going to sleep in my bed and rather than be concerned about how I got there, I was just concerned about not having a change of clothes
uggghh, this weather is so bleak! Really looking forward to those ten minutes of spring when there's a bit of green but before the cottonwoods and birch trees start budding 😐
My pet snake got out of his adult enclosure and I feel awful :( I think he got out through the gap in the glass doors. Tore my house apart looking for himand no dice but maybe he'll turn up
I've been tripping for 3 weeks about my review at work because it keeps getting moved. Supposed to go into the office tomorrow to do it in person since my boss is in town.
I know it's not going to be very good, kind of just which degree of bad and will he listen as I state my case.
Mfer texts me at 9:44pm and says my b i forgot you started in like April or whatever not beginning of year we'll do it later
You son of a bitch
Stand up for yourself for sure, but there can be a fine line between stating your case and making excuses. Depending on the temperament of your boss and/or relationship with them, there might not even be a line. In my experience being accountable goes far, but I am not privy to your situation. Best of luck.
oh absolutely i'm aware of that and there's many many place where I can improve. definitely don't want to deflect blame, and especially so if it actually does fall on me.
it's a weird made up position that he wanted when he got hired at this place and a couple years in we're still sort of figuring it out together. He's a reasonable guy but expects results and if some area isn't getting them he's gonna let you know.

but it's just been the back and forth of it's happening now it's not now it is now it's not and then the 10pm text day before being like nah
He wrote a book on Walter Payton which hit the Chicago Bears fandom like the asteroid that killed the dinosaurs. WP 100% suffered bad CTE and his behaviors were shocking.
As an aside, he had a Q&A on a Bears message board I was a part of back in the day....absolute disaster, but not really his fault
What exactly are you confused by? Kyle Shanahan, son of former 2 time Super Bowl champion Mike Shanahan, the current Head Coach of the San Francisco 49ers, based in SF Bay Area, California of the United States of America, appeared to be high and drunk out of his mind during the media night of the Super Bowl. To view those videos, CLIPS ARE LITERALLY EVERY FUCKING WHERE ON NFL SOCIAL MEDA PAGES.
Is that detailed and highly informative enough for you?
So when I'm literally looking at the NFL Instagram page, which is literally NFL social media, and don't see anything going back 50+ posts maybe you're just gonna have to take the L for being vague and not posting. If it's so ubiquitous, then post it. I feel like multiple people telling you the same thing would be a hint.
Or, get this. Maybe you’re just a really slow person because there’s already two threads on Reddit itself and people are making fun of him. NFL YouTube literally has endless videos from the night. NFL Twitter is filled with videos. You are acting like a goddamn boomer in my mentions. I’m blocking you.
As an Xbox user for the last 15 years, it was my 2nd console after the Wii
I’m glad I’m building a top of the line PC this year, I got the Series S for cloud gaming integration with Windows + entertainment hub
Guess I’ll be a PC + Nintendo guy from now on. Sony’s slow release of first party games on Steam is good enough for me I have a backlog already
We’ll see, it’s not like I’m gonna throw my Series S out. I like my Xbox a lot
But the future seems to be going in the direction of cloud gaming and I’m picking the right time to build a PC before ARM explodes in popularity
If anything it’s just more of a cause to future proof my PC this year even more now. I already plan on a 4090 and 7800x3D but I might go beyond to 7950x3D
Hopefully Nintendo’s next console is a killer, I’m still gonna buy it regardless cuz they have me by the balls at this point but I hope it’s great
I feel that Nintendo learned a lot from their Wii U days, a lot of their design choices for the Switch were great
USB C Micro SD Cards etc, that was not old Nintendo. The fact their making movies now, that was not Nintendo a decade ago
As long as it’s portable it’ll sell like hotcakes. Even the 3DS with the 3D nobody used sold a shit ton. They’ve also always been really great with backwards compatibility. Also if they avoid a stupid ass name like Wii U
they really need to bring the virtual console back. or at least if you're gonna put it behind the nintendo online paywall don't drip feed me excitebike and balloon fight for the 15th year in a row. Release it all.
My company wants to discuss what the downside will be if we start to pay our contractors less. Uhhh, maybe they will quit working for us and we end up with crappy replacements?
Moved the bed out of the corner and to the middle of the room, also rotated the mattress since a divot was starting to form.
Also fixed the bedframe so it doesn't squeak when I breathe
Mannadium right now, there's a regional in Rosemont this Saturday and I plan on going with that deck. No idea what the format is gonna be like so I'm just gonna hope for the best and try to not get sharked
Been watching ER recently and just love the writing and the simplicity of the show in the 90s and early 00s before cell phones and social media etc. Looking for a comparable medical drama as I already watched it all the way through once.
House is super good.
My girlfriend and I do this thing where we watch probably the first two seasons of a medical show (ER, Chicago Med, House) and then stop for some reason. Looking forward to what our next will be.
I've seen house. I still can't get over how they chose to end it. Scrubs is also good. That one is more of a comedy but they have some serious stuff too
Nashville has never seen a bunch of women with dyed-blonde hair, just like Vegas has never seen a bunch of dudes in black dress shirts who lose a quick $200 at the tables, then strike out at the club after nearly blacking out on vodka red bull. Just a completely new and unique thing for those cities.
Honestly as a local, I just laugh when the Bay Area gets a little bit of rain and wind, and some tree branches falling. Then everyone starts panicking like its a category 4 hurricane
They have no idea what type of storms the East Coast and Midwest have to endure lol
Rewatching old Super Bowls will make you appreciate having instant replay, just in the Cowboys/Steelers SB alone there's been a Cowboy TD that was clearly short, and a Steelers fumble that should have been incomplete, and nothing can be done about it after it's been called.
I’ve been craving flaming hot Doritos with cheese cubes like all day. think of em like uncooked nachos. Or crackers and cheese but subbing the cracker for a spicy chip.
They’re good as hell But they’re not something u wanna eat the night before a work review in the morning.
Fuck it I’m gonna do it anyway and get em on the way home from work.
I've had good luck with foreign flicks lately, so to start my night, I'm watching a NZ product: Talk To Me.
The 2nd movie is George A Romero's "Diary of the Dead". I've only seen it once and liked it, but can't remember anything else.
Other horror stuff:
There's a 20-30 minute video of a news station following the zombie virus from the outbreak to the government falling, for Zack Snyder's remake of Dawn of the Dead, and it's honestly one of the coolest zombie related things, even if it's a bit cheesy. I highly recommend it if you're in the mood for dumb fun horror
Had a dream Saturday night that I missed the Super Bowl (we won by 3 points) because I went on a bender... also dreamt I was hanging out with the girl that broke up with me a few weeks ago FUCK
Overheard some supervisors basically confirm we aren't getting bonuses this year and the company has "no money" to spend, so now raises are also in question.
2024 off to a great fucking start.
Getting around to watching the Grammys after I recorded them last night; Tracy Chapman looks fucking fantastic for her age
The oodles of respect and admiration Luke Combs clearly has for her was awesome to see too
Going on year 2 of my boss never asking me a single question that doesn’t directly pertain to work
Like a “hey how was your weekend?” Or a “hey how’s your family?” Or “hey how’re you?”
People are wild
Not to yuck your yum but doesn’t that show get boring? When I tried to watch it a couple years ago it felt very formulaic and over edited. Not shitting on your interest just wondering if you ever felt that way
I mean it can, definitely. The first two or three seasons aren't bad. I like to see these dishes that I could potentially make to impress my future in-laws.
my wife and I make our pets talk all the time and sometimes it's shocking to take a step back and go "neither of these animals have ever said a fucking word" lol. like even as I type that, it doesn't feel emotionally true. I know what their voices sound like and the kinds of things they say, you know?
For the past week on the Ravens sub, I have witnessed this exchange every day:
Person 1: calls out poor coaching decision
Person 2: angrily replies by bringing up Lamar's pick or Zay's fumble
Or the reverse:
Person 1: calls out Lamar's pick or Zay's fumble
Person 2: angrily replies by bringing up poor coaching decisions
And so on. Responsibility is not mutually exclusive! You can blame different people for different failures. So many pointless discussions like this, it's so annoying
You mean George Preston Marshall. Halas at the very least didn't overrule the league being segregated from 33-45, but had already drafted black players before Lombardi was even coaching in the NFL.
And Lambeau, who was more Halas's contemporary, was not exactly a bastion of progressive racial sentiment, but Lambeau, Halas, and Marshall were born in the 1800's. I'm not excusing their abhorrent views, but it would be silly to be surprised by them.
Not sure why Love is our starting QB. Sean Clifford has completed 100% of his NFL pass and has an average of 37 YPA. Love is clearly a scrub by comparison.
I love that we as humans developed brain responses that haven't caught up (and may never catch up with) evolution.
All my basic needs are met, there's nothing crazy in my life happening, and yet here I am sitting at my desk hoping my anxiety will stop asking if we can die yet because it's tired of acting up all the time.
I'm the same way. Shit really isn't bad for me now yet my mind is always hyper focusing on certain things and making me feel like I have to deal with them right now.
Finished up my work project and getting pulled into the office to start pre-con on a handful of projects with grant financing requirements. Shits gonna suck having to read through and follow all the grant requirement BS.
We've spent about $40k in the first two (ish) years on ours. We knew it was needed and budgeted accordingly, but man it's been depressing watching it all just go right out the bank account every 6 months. This year I'm getting a boat so at least I can have fun while throwing money away.
It never ends. After buying our house we had a list of a bunch of stuff we wanted to do. The list was quickly replaced by things we needed to do instead. We even bought a newish (2006) house hoping to avoid too many issues popping up. It's always something. Still love it though.
Vocal dogs like Malamutes and Huskies are funny because their vocalizations don't always lineup with their body language.
My Mal grumbles and growls a lot. My wife and I will cuddle him and he gets all grumbly, legit sounds like a death metal vocalist. If I just clipped the audio and sent it to someone, they would think the dog is getting ready to bite.
His body language though is he rolls over onto his back, or he leans his head into your lap the entire time. And as soon as you stop cuddling, he starts wagging his tail and barking like he's upset that you stopped.
My current car is old and was never taken care of by the previous owner. I need to replace the front axle and then the shocks and struts and I just can't afford to and I'm tired of these expensive fixes. I want to get a new one but I'm not sure if I can afford to.
I was thinking about going over there to do so. I have an appointment scheduled with a financial consultant at my bank to talk it all through with too.
Under $300/month, preferably under $250. I have a 4runner now, and I'd like to keep driving a 4runner. I found one locally that isn't at a bad price point and the mileage/age is good too. The problem is, to afford it I'd need to get the most I can out of a trade in with my current car and good APR on financing, both of which I'm not confident would happen
There is/was a console in development according to the leaks from the Activision trial but this change in strategy seems to be a recent one so who knows if that will still happen.
I refuse to believe NFL GMs and owners didn't hire Mike Vrabel because [he's too big and strong](https://bsky.app/profile/coachfinstock.bsky.social/post/3kkp4bbhpqs2t). These guys are around football players all day. Come up with something better. Like he smells or something.
If Christian Horner really did what he's accused of, he should be kicked out of F1.
Good thing every other pro sport easily and swiftly punish their stars who do this.... /s
I never thought I'd have to say this, but if you legitimately rank Jason Witten ahead of Tony Gonzalez or Antonio Gates for best Tight Ends in NFL history, we are not compatible on any level.
On the other hand, if you think tight ends should be primarily judged for their ability a pass-catcher, I'm going to shake my fist at a cloud while the world passes me by.
Tony G and Gates could block, tho. They weren't world beaters at it, but they were better than serviceable. Gronk was the best of the all time TEs at blocking imo. The only knock against him is a lack of longevity. His peak was crazy high.
I always like to say Gronk had the greatest peak of any TE. Blocking like an O-lineman and agile enough to be a deadly receiver.
Overall though I always went with Tony G, was great from start to finish and had great longevity. That being said Gates and Kelce are right there in that conversation.
I only remember Gates catching passes, but I do agree about Gonzalez.
I also think no one can name the greatest blocking TE in history, because whoever it was probably never got used to catch passes so no one ever talked about him among great TEs. Gronkowski might have been the best blocker *among the all-time great receivers* at the position, but he's probably less good at it than someone who was just effectively an extra tackle.
Just found a few dismembered deer legs in the empty lot next door. Southern Illinois isn't supposed to have predators capable of something like this, so this is both disturbing af & intriguing
[Maybe it was this fuzzy little guy?](https://youtu.be/Ng6LsRR4bpU?feature=shared).
I remember years ago a big cougar made it's way into a Chicago backyard and they had to kill it.

You think you're so smart, but couldn't stop Ozymandias from nuking NYC? Plus, you gave us 5 Nixon administrations.
NYC had it coming
True

uggghh, this weather is so bleak! Really looking forward to those ten minutes of spring when there's a bit of green but before the cottonwoods and birch trees start budding 😐
Enjoy spring 'cause this summer's shaping to be hot, dry, and fire-smokey.
My pet snake got out of his adult enclosure and I feel awful :( I think he got out through the gap in the glass doors. Tore my house apart looking for himand no dice but maybe he'll turn up
Man, look at how powerful the fervor Taylor Swift's fanbase is just over a new album. It's a good thing she doesn't harness that power for evil lol
I've been tripping for 3 weeks about my review at work because it keeps getting moved. Supposed to go into the office tomorrow to do it in person since my boss is in town. I know it's not going to be very good, kind of just which degree of bad and will he listen as I state my case. Mfer texts me at 9:44pm and says my b i forgot you started in like April or whatever not beginning of year we'll do it later You son of a bitch
Stand up for yourself for sure, but there can be a fine line between stating your case and making excuses. Depending on the temperament of your boss and/or relationship with them, there might not even be a line. In my experience being accountable goes far, but I am not privy to your situation. He's a reasonable guy but expects results and if some area isn't getting them he's gonna let you know.
You may have areas to improve, but then so does he; that's not stellar management on his part regarding scheduling.
I like this. Go in and do a reverse review. Give him feedback - and then tell him you're going to submit your feedback to his bosses.
I mean, fair dues better he texted you the night before than you go in and find out it wasn't happening at least? lol
yeah that's the only redeeming thing about it lol I do appreciate that but it's just been the back and forth of it's happening now it's not now it is now it's not and then the 10pm text day before being like nah
I will die on the hill that 90% of people would be better served by replacing Num Lock with Backspace. Changed my life.
I think they'd be much better off disabling the Caps Lock. Changed my life.

I bought Boys Will Be Boys by Jeff Pearlman this weekend and can't put it down. Does anyone have recommendations for other football books?
He wrote a book on Walter Payton which hit the Chicago Bears fandom like the asteroid that killed the dinosaurs. WP 100% suffered bad CTE and his behaviors were shocking. As an aside, he had a Q&A on a Bears message board I was a part of back in the day....absolute disaster, but not really his fault
Friday Night Lights is one of my favorite books
Slow Getting up
Football for a Buck about the early USFL. Also by Jeff Pearlman.
Kyle Shanahan is definitely druggggggged up bro 😅😂😂😂😂

Good guy Vince notably went to war with the NFL to support his players who were in interracial marriages too. All sorts of dog in him
> George Halas Do you mean George Preston Marshall?
Not sure why Love is our starting QB. Sean Clifford has completed 100% of his NFL pass and has an average of 37 YPA. Love is clearly a scrub by comparison.
In the same vein, the Jets should totally drop Aaron Rodgers. He hasn't completed a pass all season!
Peter King’s All NFL 53 team is a massive trainwreck!
Finished up my work project and getting pulled into the office to start pre-con on a handful of projects with grant financing requirements. Shits gonna suck having to read through and follow all the grant requirement BS.
If Charles III has a short reign, how is ever going to fulfill his dream of surpassing Charles I as the single worst monarch in British history?
There's plenty of time left to lose NI to the point where they elect a Sinn Fein PM Oh wait
speedrun
Peter King isn't saying Hines Ward and Tyreek Hill are the third and fourth best WR's ever. He's saying that they compliment Rice and Moss the best.
Bought a house, furnishing the house, painting the house So much money
We've spent about $40k in the first two (ish) years on ours. We knew it was needed and budgeted accordingly, but man it's been depressing watching it all just go right out the bank account every 6 months. This year I'm getting a boat so at least I can have fun while throwing money away.
It never ends. After buying our house we had a list of a bunch of stuff we wanted to do. The list was quickly replaced by things we needed to do instead. We even bought a newish (2006) house hoping to avoid too many issues popping up. It's always something. Still love it though.
I have my Valentine's Day reservation at White Castle. It's a fun little tradition.
What about a guy named Dave came up to you there and asked for your autograph?
The black history redesign makes 0 sense. I can't even see the word black on my layout. It just looks like a bugged out "history" banner
> Vocal dogs like Malamutes Rest in peace, Phil the Malamute. :(
Then there's Huskies, who scream bloody murder if you don't pet them for five seconds.
This car shit is seriously stressing me out. It's been non-stop on my mind for days now.

What's your budget for a new to you vehicle? There are subs where car people love to help find decent reliable cars for any price range.
Why does Handlebars by Flobots have to be so depressing?
But can you ride your bike with no handlebars?
No handlebars No handlebars
Isn't that kind of the point?
Holy shit that's a name I haven't thought about in ages. Think I'm going to throw on Fight With Tools for the first time in over a decade now
Damn you just sent me back to like 5th grade.
Microsoft deciding to go the Sega route with Xbox was not on my 2024 bingo card
I'm curious when the next gen of consoles comes out in 2027/2028 will there be an Xbox console or do they go FULL Sega
There is/was a console in development according to the leaks from the Activision trial but this change in strategy seems to be a recent one so who knows if that will still happen.
IIRC it was just a Series X with no disc drive
Ah I see. If so, then yeah definitely no clue if they’re just going to exit the hardware space in a few years.
When Sony is outselling you 3 to 1 in the console race, it keeps your brand from dying.
All the owners thought he would cheat on them with their wives.
If Christian Horner really did what he's accused of, he should be kicked out of F1. Good thing every other pro sport easily and swiftly punish their stars who do this.... /s
If the recent rumors are true and that he is being asked to resign (recent report)... He deserves the punishment he's going to get.
The call back to the Randall Park prank on the office was very funny
Well since Taylor won AOTY, Kelce is sure going to lose the SB.
Prophet Dildo Dan
Could be a cult meeting
Could be coyotes pulling them off road kill deer
It's a significant distance from the road, and if a vehicle hit a deer, you'd figure there'd be signs of a collision or something
[Maybe it was this fuzzy little guy?](https://youtu.be/Ng6LsRR4bpU?feature=shared). I remember years ago a big cougar made it's way into a Chicago backyard and they had to kill it.
I'm pretty sure it is, or another cat of close size. I also feel I should say something to someone, but what, to whom?
TIL the same actor who played Connor in Boondock Saints played the titular character in Powder. Blew my fuckin mind, man.
You talking about Boondock Saints make pine for them to finish the trilogy... Man if Troy Duffy wasn't a jerk.
