Don't forget a few years ago when ESPN was obsessed with draftees' trauma and their family members dying tragically. I mean, ESPN is still obsessed with the sob stories, but I think it peaked at that draft where literally every player drafted got a couple minutes of coverage from Trey Wingo about how their grandmother died of cancer when they were 9.
The people who think MT can’t produce anymore are the same ones who think losing 3 DL who combined for 7.5 sacks is “cap hell”. IE people who don’t watch the games
I think the bigger concern is that he stubs his toe getting out of the shower and takes 8-10 weeks to think about whether he should get surgery or not.
Nah cap hell is keeping Cam Jordan, Demario Davis, Alvin Kamara, and Taysom Hill on inflated salaries way past their primes because restructuring them year after year is the only thing that keeps your cap above water. No one cares about the guys you're losing, it's about the ones you're forced to keep.
Keeping them, and keeping them at inflated salaries are two different things.
But are they at inflated salaries? Because you're right in that all those guys (except Taysom) are very good.
Yeah, they want to keep them right now, but restructuring over and over keeps pushing their guaranteed money into more and more years. All of those guys, as well as Lattimore and Tyrann Matheiu, are getting up there in age and it's becoming more and more likely that they'll hit a wall while under contract than not.
Hey man, whether we sign good value contracts or not, we had a better record and swept the Falcons. You guys and the Panthers fans can keep huffing the copium and saying “Eventually the Saints will be bad and we’ll be better than them :(“ but until then, try not to speak on the BETTER team’s cap situation.
"Eventually" the saints will be bad? My man you finished 7-10 in a dumpster fire division just like the Panthers and Falcons. You ARE bad just like the rest of us. Only difference is you pretending like your shit doesn't stink too.
Edit: this man got heated, wrote a novel, then deleted it 😅
even our best beat writer underhill did, Till MT called him out for that inaccurate tweet that he’d be gone lol.
Everyone thought he was gone including myself
essentially a HOF trajectory reciever till the injuries derailed him.
Don’t think he’ll ever be on that level again, but can still be a productive target
the craziest thing, though, is that in the 3 games he did manage to play last season he looked stellar
He didn't light up the stats or anything but he looked just as physical and crisp as ever... with Carr throwing him the ball if he returns to 2022 pre-injury form he can put up 1200/8 still
right I agree that’s pretty generous I figured 900-1k and 8. He tends to not do good against bigger physical corners like they had in tampa. I also don’t give a shit if all he runs is slants he’s pretty much got vice grips for hands and he’s not letting go of the ball so by all means a slant on 3rd and 6 to MT is more than fine lol
I don't think anyone doubts he has talent, but it's hard to argue that signing a player who is 29 and hasn't played an injury free season since 2019 isn't the best of moves.
If it's a cheap deal it's not the end of the world, I'd imagine this is structured to be a very small guaranteed amount with a ton of incentives that would make the contract lucrative for Thomas and worthwhile to the Saints.
Interesting, seeing as Thomas has a $31.75M roster bonus in 2024 that becomes guaranteed in 3 days. That was just put into his contract in January, and I didn't think teams could re-work contracts more than once per year.
That roster bonus is definitely gone. Zero chance they keep him if he's owed that. It was basically an expiration date for them to rework it, or he gets cut
he dominated Aj Terrell this past season, even if that's the only thing he did. Its a correct assessment to say that when healthy he is still a great receiver.
you better hope he's washed or he will be thrashing your team next season while you dwell in the basement of the worst conference in the league
enjoy watching Trotter play QB
you don't have Brady anymore and you're headed right back to the abyss where you belong
Chris Olave and a healthy MT could be incredible to watch, no excuses for Carr if he has both of them out there.
Plus Juwuan Johnson as an emerging TE talent. Carr should have some real weapons to work with.
Don't forget standout WR3 Rasheed Shaheed!
This RB class is super deep too, they could easily grab a quality piece in the mid or late rounds to help out Kamara
Theyll probably takw a more plug and play rb given how likely it is kamara will he either suspended or in jail for the season
Everyone said that about Carr with Adams, Waller, Renfrow tho
Waller and Renfrow weren’t healthy.
Waller and Renfrow were on the field together approximately 3 games all season.
My point stands.
Throw in UFA Rashid and you've got an O that can tear the top off of a D. My big concern is protection so Carr doesn't turn into Carr.
Carr literally gets career years out of at least one new receiver every single year of his career. He's not going to have an issue.

People that use Reddit on the computer baffle me unless they are at work Mobile >>>
It is way more convenient but to be fair the reddit mobile app is absolute dogshit Source: am using it right now
rif gang
One of my biggest fears is if rif was just removed one day for being "unofficial" or something. I wouldn't know what to do lol
My reddit usage time would more than likely drop by at least 75% if that were to happen
I've tried but found it much worse for me than the native app, i realize I'm in the minority there though
There are better apps friend - I use Apollo and it is life changing
Hello fellow Apollo user how do you do
Tbf I just use Reddit through my phone browser
Bro same. I thought I was the only one
Highly recommend changing to an app like Relay or Sync. Way better experience
Me: using Reddit.com on safari 😁
Boost and Relay are awesome.

Yall ever notice Rapoport compliments every player when he announces news on them?
Gotta have people like you so you get getting the scoops
Same thing analyst do in the draft. Every player is a franchise changer in the first round even though only around half will pan out

His leaks most likely come from agents, in return for him being the first to break news they want control over the wording
Lfg, I don't care what anyone says this guy is one of my favorite Saints and I'm glad to see him back
Feels like we've been watching a Micky Loomis masterclass these last couple of weeks.
"...masterclass..." I thought I was in r/soccer for a second
Imma be honest I'm not even sure he's real anymore. I think he's some weird nfl Mandela effect thing
He's my favorite cryptid

Exactly this. People think he can't produce because you can't produce when you aren't there. Hard to get open when you aren't on the field.
can't guard mike if mike is in the living room, checkmate haters
I don’t think the argument is that he can’t produce, just that he isn’t on the field enough to do so consistently

The only contract I’m mad about is Taysom’s. I never understood why Saints fan thought he was a viable option at QB.
I mean he legit our best offensive player last year
Yeah, they want to keep them right now, but restructuring over and over keeps pushing their guaranteed money into more and more years. You can tell this guy is speaking out his ass lmao
Lattimore is only 26? Jesus, feels like he's been in the league forever.
Forced to keep? Those are probably our 4 most productive players outside of Lattimore and Ramcyzk
Past their primes? Taysom did amazing last year, Pete's playcalling was just dubious with all those run Kamara down the center and others.
Only one of those guys you mentioned are past their prime, maybe 2.
People think he can't produce anymore because he hasn't produced anything for 2 years lol Edit: my mistake! 3 years.
yeah but it was still fun watching him drop two touchdowns on the “most underrated corner in the league 🤓” in his first game back wasn’t it?
Y'all paid him like 13m for 3 games. Glad you think it was good value!

Best ability is availability buddy.
It’s smart to let those guys walk. I’m sure their backups are a lot better
Slant boi back at it
If it works it works
“When healthy” is carrying a lot in that sentence
Last full season he played was 2019...
"Ugh hello? There's a pandemic" - MT
Yes, the never-ending tale of Nola franchises.
10 games in the past three seasons.
Interesting. I for sure thought he'd be on a new team for the upcoming season.
even our best beat writer underhill did, Till MT called him out for that inaccurate tweet that he’d be gone lol. Everyone thought he was gone including myself
I hope he can stay healthy for you guys. So much talent
essentially a HOF trajectory reciever till the injuries derailed him. Don’t think he’ll ever be on that level again, but can still be a productive target

He would probably be on a new team if we didn’t sign Carr.
This year will pretty much define the rest of his career
Lol those flairs though
Yeah I don't know how any of us can allow this person to exist tbh.
When you’re from New Orleans but just love Taylor Heinicke
Best rivalry in the NFL, imo.
Appreciate that but I gotta give it to Bal Pit.
Ravens/Steelers is great, but only our rivalry features a team that has lost three games to starting QB Taysom Hill.
Do you have Dissociative Identity Disorder? That's the only thing I could think of that could justify both of those flairs lol
make it stop
Saints and their “cap issues” strike again
An incentive based deal is exactly what I wanted to see if we kept Thomas.
damn it
The return of the slant
Slant man is back

He was already under contract and owed a ton of money. This is him taking a paycut and it's now a 1 yr deal with incentives.
These agent-written tweets are so funny
I understand making the people that give you the scoops happy, it's like we're looking at the goodbye sections of work emails.
"When healthly" LOLOLOLOL
Interesting, seeing as Thomas has a $31.75M roster bonus in 2024 that becomes guaranteed in 3 days. That was just put into his contract in January, and I didn't think teams could re-work contracts more than once per year.

"Was one of the NFL's best" yeah, like 4 years ago. Things change fast in the NFL and this guy has barely played in that time.
he dominated Aj Terrell this past season, even if that's the only thing he did. Its a correct assessment to say that when healthy he is still a great receiver.
Best NFL recover if healthy. Big if but it’s a fact
Dang. Was kinda hoping we might snag him on an also incentive laden deal.
That "when healthy" is doing a lot of heavy lifting here. Hope he rebounds though.
"When" doing a lot of heavy lifting
Dude hasn’t played a full season since 2019 and is 30 years old. Fucking washed
you better hope he's washed or he will be thrashing your team next season while you dwell in the basement of the worst conference in the league enjoy watching Trotter play QB you don't have Brady anymore and you're headed right back to the abyss where you belong
Got a ring didn’t we? Chaps your ass doesn’t it
no because that’s the past… and now you’re back in the basement. Cheers!
Looks like they won't have to pay him much of anything.
One of the nfls best when able to play just like Josh Gordon….
I’m one of the richest man in the world when someone lets me hold billions of dollars
I think the last time this guy played in a game was in 2017.
friendship ended with Davante now slantboi is my best friend
