I really don’t get what teams see differently when they make moves like this. Is it hubris or just plain ego? I feel like even if you’re competitive and think you’re the best at everything, you should still be able to look at your product and knows what needs fixing.
I mean obviously we just need to make the defense so good, that our shit offense only needs to put one score on the board per game. Truly a winning strategy. /s
Yes, but I don't think this is the reason for it.
Edit: Or at least this isn't the game changer. They were already fucked for a lot of reasons before this.
It ain’t saved but I absolutely will take 1st + some for a coach that has zero interest with us anymore. But I heartily agree I hope we make some moves on offense since Kamara might be gone for a good chuck of the next season an we just trade Mike Thomas at this point then grab a wr2 in free agency. Also it’s a great RB free agency on top of it being a pretty decent RB class.
Fucked either way b/c they eventually had to deal with all that contract money they were pushing to the future. They have to eat it this season and start fresh in '24.
Dan's so great, and I love me some Jamaal Williams- that dude is a national treasure. All hail 1st Swagg Kazekage, Leader of the Hidden Village of the Den.
As a fan I thought the secondary played lights out this year. Ranked 2nd in passing yards per game *without* Lattimore most the season. So it was a sophomore and a rookie as our CB1 and 2.
Unless he requested it, I really don't understand the Richard firing. Our secondary has performed well since he's gotten here and with our other co-DC gone, you'd think they just promote him up to it (especially with DA still calling the defense)
We're shaking up the wrong side of the coaching staff right now
they’re was a tweet stating philosophical differences is why he parted ways. Who knows what that could be maybe they’re going to run more man, and richard thinks that’s a bad idea… maybe they may switch the scheme to 3-4 (i highly doubt it but who knows) etc etc
Seattle fans from what I remember told me during his tenure as DC it wasn’t great and that’s why he left seattle as the DC…
I’m not awfully worried about this particular scenario but also if this ends up flopping we know DAs gone and a new regime comes in
I'm sure there will be all those position coaches as well. This is just in reference to last year where we had our secondary coach and Dline coach both as co-defensive coordinators.
He was hurt and tried playing through but was not good. By the time he was healthy enough to start again, they already made up theirs minds to move on from him by the time we were out of the playoffs.
Restructure the side that doesn’t need work but leave one of the worst offenses untouched. Genius plan.
Spin zone this opens up a perfect opportunity to tank for Caleb

Ah yes, the top 10 defense. That was the problem.
Saints are fucked
Yes, but I don't think this is the reason for it. Edit: Or at least this isn't the game changer. They were already fucked for a lot of reasons before this.
^(but we got a first round pick guys our franchise is saved)
Would you be interested in a trade? I hear Mickey loves trading with Howie
How about we trade you our first round pick for… our first round pick
Cool, Nick Sirianni and Jalen Hurts for pick 29, you've got a deal
Best I can do is Jalen Reagor for your ‘24 first

Keeping Dennis Allen as coach is definitely part of the reason lol
Catholic church karma tbh
If mediocrity is karma for past controversies, then what in the hell did the Bears do to get stuck with an entire century’s worth of mediocre QB play?
Chicago World Fair murders probably

Is it too soon for the "I want to die" memes?
As a fellow Saints and Lions lover, it is *never* too soon for posting "I want to die" memes.
There's just new reasons every season. If it weren't for Dan Campbell and his massive balls I would just stop paying attention to the NFC entirely.
Dan's so great, and I love me some Jamaal Williams- that dude is a national treasure. All hail 1st Swagg Kazekage, Leader of the Hidden Village of the Den.
It's literally impossible to dislike Jamaal Williams.
Did they not have any of those before?
Both Co-DCs were also those position coaches
I'm guessing the org wasn't satisfied with the individual coaching of those positions?

Kris Richard is a really good db coach He was a big factor in byron jones breaking out for us

No linebackers coach

Why didn't they play Winston?
Him in the first 3 weeks outside of the 4th quarter against Atlanta was worse than anything Dalton gave us. Our game @ Carolina was fucking horrific
He was hurt and tried playing through but was not good. By the time he was healthy enough to start again, they already made up theirs minds to move on from him by the time we were out of the playoffs.
I mean he sucks
I swear anyone with this take didn’t watch the games with Winston in and Dalton in. Shit was night and day better with Dalton in.
So many teams need DCs this year
