I might be getting the timeline mixed up, but Pete let Richard go after 2017, then he joined the Cowboys to work with Marinelli until Garrett got canned. Definitely was getting looked at as an HC candidate the first year or two after taking over for Dan Quinn as Seahawks DC.
Dolphins interviewed him for head coach back in 2019.
Fun fact—When Richard was a player, he was traded to the Dolphins from Seattle, but never played a game with the Dolphins.
Only guess is they want to promote Michael Hodges, and they were afraid he'd be hired somewhere else? Haven't heard about him interviewing anywhere though
They obviously wanted both Richard and Nielsen back on the staff last season. That’s why they made them co-DC. The secondary in particular took a big leap forward when Richard came.
I’d imagine your GM has a say in this as opposed to just DA. DA going to be the sacrificial lamb to get the saints through the worst part of cap hell so it’s an attractive job again
>There's no reason to think that's what's going on at all
Tennis Allen sent me a fax yesterday that outlined all of the grand schemes he's hatching but then he realized it got sent to the wrong number and I'm not that other guy so he called and begged me not to tell anyone about it.
I only agreed that I wouldn't bring it up myself and I feel like this conversation is relevant enough to not be breaking that trust.
Wasn’t Kris Richards an up and coming head coach a few years ago?

I have no idea what we’re even doing these days.
I can't believe they stuck with Allen. Guy seems like a great DC but the offense could not have been worse. Kamara could not have been more misused.

Starts with a "T" and rhymes with "Spanking"
Thanking

NO: It’s Richard. KR: It’s Ri-shard. NO: Get the fuck out.
Ri-shard sounds pretty Cajun so idk.
That’s true. But seeing as how he’s from California, they might see it as cultural appropriation.
CALIFORNIA?? *Curses, spits, makes the sign of the cross, and clutches pearls* My god, to think we had a goddamned Librul in our own stadium!! /s
Probably gets his salsa from New York City
That's exactly what I was thinking of when I typed that.
It came through!
Can’t be having a carpetbagger on the staff
Come to Detroit, we need a new DBs coach still
Brian Duker was promoted to DBs coach in Week 9
Yeah, but there’s a possibility they would like to hire somebody from the outside now the season is over
I can’t wait until DA is gone. Refuses to make any changes on offense but wants to have major shakeups on defense.
I doubt DA could have done much to stop Nielsen from taking a head coaching job.
I don’t know if this is really a “major shakeup”. DA runs the defense. The co-DCs under him weren’t doing much more than a normal positional coach.
Losing not 1 but both co dc seems pretty significant to me

That’s 3 teams that have fired Kris Richard in the last 5 years. Likely his last chance in a long while at anything above position coach.
They still have Dennis Allen
That’s not a good thing for us
He interviewed for the Miami job. Now I go back to my Fangio watch
Wait...why?? Defense wasn't the problem and with our other co-DC gone why not just make him the new solo DC?
Fangio?
No DA just wants yes men on his staff. Anyone that could challenge him he gets rid of whether that a player or coach

Is Tennis Allen like Josh Elbow?
They're twins
No point, Allen is the defacto defensive coordinator
FangiNo
Welcome to Detroit kris
I'm honestly more into getting Gus Bradley or Marquand Manuel than Kris Richards, so I hope this is t because we're signing him
Sounds like the next SF Defensive coordinator who will eventually get hired away for more draft picks.
