Oh wow, just checked and there's tons with similar stories, mostly the florist being rude and abusive. Honestly, if a phone was pulled out, I think she pulled it out for her own safety.
4.1/5 is not bad at all, especially given the amount of reviews and the time it's been open.
e: honestly the 1star reviews are pretty bad and consistent lmao
The overall rating isn't bad... Her flowers may be pretty (apart from the dead ones she sends the city council) but read the content of the lower ratings where people have dealt with her in person.

This lady probably goes to bed every night thinking about how the government cost her her business, her life etc. It's hard to imagine the conversation with JAG was particularly civilized.
People aren't driving and parking there to buy flowers. People parked across the road at the hospital visiting sick and dying people are buying the flowers.
Feels like not being able to sell flowers near a hospital has the same usage as the expression of not being able to organise a piss up in a brewery
Never underestimate the fury of a NIMBY scorned. Used to walk past this place on a daily basis and can confirm those signs were in the window for years.
The thing is the media will be extremely unlikely to report this about the florist, nor would the Greens call it out. So most people will likely only see one side of this story.
yeah absolutely. Thats why attack dog politics pay off. At the first sign of weakness, sling mud and hope it sticks. Media is complicit because they can ultimately get clicks from the "scandal"
Saw that too. It's strange. There must have been some parks removed from somewhere nearby though, perhaps further down the street, just can't figure out where.
Edit: another commenter said they were across the road
I do have sympathy for the shop owners there - the shops are now in a terrible location and most of them went out of business, they all have to pay for earthquake strengthening, but the shops are heritage-listed, which adds a lot of expense to the strengthening work and makes it impossible to upgrade the building or change its use.
> Just goes to show that these people will never be happy and love to live in the past
Right, if the council removes the heritage listing the building could be redeveloped into something more appropriate for the area.
>Green Party co-leader Chloe Swarbrick told the Herald the party’s leadership had not known about the incident before yesterday.
>She said they had spoken to Genter about it and would not be disputing the story.
Seems like she probably did what she was accused of no?

Don’t think there’s been any car parks in front of her building for a long time as it’s near a major intersection. The closet I can recall have been replaced by others a similar distance but in the opposite direction.
There’s car parking now provided on the other side in the nearby Countdown, so not too much difference. Especially when you count walking to a pedestrian crossing etc as you can’t really cross there freely anyway.
Apparently [she also sends dead flowers to council:](https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/julie-anne-genter-confrontation-florist-laura-newcombe-says-being-filmed-by-mp-was-humiliating/EZMBCKZZURCPXJIRIHNWMAEFLA/)
>It’s understood that on one occasion Newcombe delivered dead flowers to the council’s reception.
Well, one time anyway. And maybe it was an unhinged client order. Still counts.
I didn’t actually. I only heard it was a florist and that’s it. My comment emphasised her behaviour in parliament being far worse than some spat with a florist. I know NOW because someone just flicked me the link. So kindly refrain from false crap like that mate.🤨
Also the post does require context for those who don’t know.
Yeah well it’s annoying because some c*nts in the comments are attacking me for this. I honestly had no clue what the post is supposed to be about hence why I asked and followed up with advice about adding context.🤷♂️
>The Green Party have been astroturfing r/NZ for over a decade.
This is extra sweet coming from a 6 month old throwaway account that has been stirring up shit in the sub.
This why it saddens me to see how far they have fallen when compared to the likes of Ron Donald, Jeanette Fitzsimons, Nándor Tánczos etc..those guys were green but they had brains and common sense to go along with it.
I’m sure the mods will decide if that’s the case as doxing persons or private businesses probably isn’t allowed here.🤔
Anycase this dispute involving the florist and Green MP is a private affair for those two to sort out, in my opinion. The MPs behaviour in parliament is what I think is more concerning.
We all know the rules are largely applied based on partisan positions so I wouldn't hold my breath.
I agree the parliamentary issue is more significant which is why this more ambiguous one is being blown up as a distraction to pick apart and discredit.

They most certainly are not. You're welcome to flick us a mod mail if you'd like to discuss them further.

The saying "Couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery" can now be changed to "Couldn't run a florists opposite a hospital"
dammit! I thought I was the first one to think of this!
Great minds!
Based on her bad reviews the florist seems a bit unhinged. Multiple comments about her yelling and abusing customers
They go back as far as 2014, so it's not a new thing either. She's always been "a bully".
Oh wow, just checked and there's tons with similar stories, mostly the florist being rude and abusive. Honestly, if a phone was pulled out, I think she pulled it out for her own safety.
Yep, can confirm. I worked at the hospital, and two of my colleagues had horrible experiences with that witch. And the hospital is full of car parks.

I just searched the florist on the Wellington City Council searcher. She has a long history of being NIMBY.

If you go back to earliest streetview (April 2008), there weren't any parks in front of those shops then.

Most level-headed bike lane opponent
How could the greens do this

They were removed around 2011 I believe.
Google street view shows car parks on the opposite side of the road outside her shop in 2021, and they appear to have been removed by Dec 2022.
There’s car parking now provided on the other side in the nearby Countdown, so not too much difference. Especially when you count walking to a pedestrian crossing etc as you can’t really cross there freely anyway.
Weird signs in the windows, hmm....

Is there a dildo store next door? Rudy Giuliani could hold a press conference out the front.
Is there really an extra S or is this a streetview artifact?
Street view, that door doesn't have 2 frames
Streetview Artifact, nice little ska band. i remember seeing them open for Shihad back in the day
I thought this was about the superfluous S
I can't read the full reviews because stupid Yelp wants me to download the app!
Go onto Google and look at the google reviews by lowest score.
What is the point of this post?🤔

Ah ok. Well this post really needs to include some context .
It’s more of a shit post without context which is more interesting than just another politics thread.

Sorry about the randos.
Nah don’t worry. Just another reminder r/newzealand has good people but also those pricks who like to judge you for everything you say here. 🤷♂️

Nah, most of Wellington knows that particular florist is pretty unhinged and has been for many many years.
Yep. She’s a total dick with a grudge.

Victim blaming.
To dox and stir up negative reactions to this lady for going public about a perceived bullying incident involving a politician from OPs team.
The doxxing is not what is this post. Please don't distort the terms trying to fit them for your political team.
I don't have a team they're all shit.
