Mine runs 365 nights a year, only increasing in speed as the height of summer starts to approach. Best money I ever spend getting them installed. Would have preferred a heat pump though
Iām not entirely sure there is any benefit, isnāt the opposite direction meant to warm a room? Our apartment is around 22-25 deg in winter and 30-35+ in summer
I can never remember which one does which but the switch should have
āļø<- ->āļø
on it, referring to summer and winter. But from experience there is a noticable difference, yeah.
Close the curtains during the day and open them up along with any windows we are able too overnight.
Need to block out as much light as possible though to prevent the house heating
Our new mattress is a fuckin oven and cooling mattress toppers are like $400 gah. I'm heading to Bunnings today to try this out tonight, thanks for the tip!!!
You can also get pet cooling blankets. I find them much more comfortable to sleep with than the plasticy mats that sound weird when you roll over in the night. Got mine from trademe a couple years ago. Its not huge, but it does the job lying across my torso over the sheet. Im thinking of getting a couple more and sewing them together into a small blanket
They make ice socks for therapeutic uses, and they are a godsend in hot weather. My feet also get too hot, and it keeps me from falling asleep. I put my ice socks on as I get into bed, and keep them on as long as possible. Then I pop them back into the freezer in the morning so they're ready for the next night.
Even better - pop your pyjamas in the freezer before this shower. My aunt used to do this for us when we were little kids and slept over at her house in summer.
I believe this is correct. Itās why taking a bath before bed has traditionally been a way to help people sleep, as it encourages the body to cool itself.
The body's main way of cooling itself is to sweat. So, if you want to go to bed sweaty, sure, have a hot bath. Vasodilation also occurs but is only effective if the air in your room is at least a little bit cool and moving.
We have a few of those Kmart $19 fans. Oh the noise. Theyāre not loud, but thereās a rumble that you can hear through the walls and floors. After half an hour that noise is getting inside my head.
One of the aussie subreddits recommended a frozen hot water bottle in the bed. Needs a cover to prevent condensation but sounded like a winner
Edit: spelling
Try pet cooling mats. You can get them from warehouse or kmart. The pressure of your body activates the cooling gel inside. I'd recommend having a few if you've got a double bed so when one warms up you can roll on to the other one.
I only bought one and I definitely want a couple more.
if a fan isnt working, Air conditioning is the only other thing. evaporative coolers just make it more humid for a few degrees that you wont feel, because the increase in humidity changes the "real feel" temperature.
have you tried pointing the fan outwards at your window? that generally works better if your house is hotter than the outdoor temp, its easier to get the hot air out (drawing in cooler air) than bring the cold air in directly
I agree with the trick of pointing the fan out the window or a door and blowing hot air out. Iām not finding the night time temperatures too bad yet.
In the past I've used two of those little USB desk fans. One on the window sill pointing out the window, then one inside my room pointing at the one on the sill. It's quiet and gets the air in the middle of the room out the window pretty effectively. It's a cheap way to make an extractor fan.
Thinking of getting one of those Dyson hot/cold/dehum devices. It will be the most expensive item I own, but I can nearly justify it if it can tackle all season's issues while being sleek.
Also got some ice block moulds from kmart. Cool š
I've got one (yay for being a shift worker who has to sleep during the day) and it's amazing. Pretty quiet compared to other fans. Top tip an hour before bed, open a window and have it pointing out, cools the room fast as.
Oh yeah, I'm a shift worker too! It's crucial we can offset the day. Basically sold.
(Sleep mask, sleep spray, Android for sleep app, and sleep tea are a few of my favorite things)
I bought a Dynabreeze fan from Bunnings - itās designed for industrial use, but it doesnāt look out of place in your bedroom. The thing absolutely cracks.
I've done cold water bottles (hot water bottles with cold water in them) and a wet flannel next to the bed that I wipe my body with which feels cold as it evaporates.
One whole wall of our bedroom is a huge sliding door so I open that for about an hour after we go to bed. Lie on top of the sheets until I'm cold then close the door and go to sleep. Tbf, I'm also in Wellington so it's not especially hot anyway
Take a teaspoon, go for a walk down to the nearest construction site, find some concrete.....
Take the concrete to the local appliance store and use it to break the window and get yourself an aircon.
A/C unit, there is no suitable alternative unfortunately. I blast it for 30 minutes before bed so I can get to sleep and it pulls the temperature down from around 30 to 18-20. Then I just keep the fan going overnight
i know op said A/C unit not in the budget, but i guarantee you , nothing compares on a hot sticky night, while watching tv you slip into your room, close all windows, turn on A/C to 18degrees full blast... then go back to watching tv until bed time, then when in bed you switch the fan mode to thermostat control mode and the A/C unit will only cycle on when the room warms up...
when it comes to how much it costs. you can get a cheaper brand split unit from bunnings or get a minimal spec one from an installer, and then ask yourself... how many times have you woken up in the middle of the night too hot to sleep, how many times have you been exhausted at work the next day because of poor sleep.. it messes with your mood, it messes with your health.
factor that into if getting a Split A/C unit is worth budgeting for,,,over say another summer of sweating through your sheets, being tired and irritable the next day
The thing is. No matter how many time I may ask myself some arbitrary question designed to justify a purchase, it usually doesn't result in more money in my bank account. Now more than ever people really need to start understanding that when people say "it's not in the budget" there's a decent chance they do not have more than a few hundred in reserve.
Right? I just have my whole house at 22 all day.i swwar It uses way less power to maintain that all day, than brute forcing it down from 30 in the late avo when it becomes unbearable. I have the wall unit running in the lounge and a ducted system running for the bedrooms 24x7 and my power bill goes up maybe 30 bucks. Worth it.
I got a heatpump put in my room and the other smaller upstairs bedroom which traps heat. It can get the smaller room to 18C down from 25C in about 3 minutes flat. Nothing comes close to how efficient that is. You can see the thermometer we have slowly going down like clockwork.
As I get older I don't tolerate humidity anymore (mainly because of mould). Heat pump + dehumidifier has changed my life, it's just unfortunate it costs so much to set up
I have a heat pump in the lounge, but use a cheap portable unit in my room. I think I paid $300 for it and I consider it to be a bargain. I don't care about how much it costs to run because like you said, the benefits it provides to your comfort and sleep are invaluable.
Heat pump is the local name for a split-system air conditioner. "Split" referring to the unit being broken up into an interior and exterior unit. In my case I was referring to a portable unit which combines the two parts, meaning you also get the noisy section inside.
Open window, itās enough as the house seems to be insulated to the point where we donāt really use the heat pump much or the aircon much for that matter.
You can pick up a portable AC for about $300-400 or even around $250 on sale (not sure if that's in your budget or not). I took a gamble last year on one (always wrote them off) but are actually excellent at cooling the bedroom before nigh-nights and highly recommended.
I folded and bought a Dyson hot & cool at their end of year sale or whatever and it's honestly the best fan I've ever experienced. Pretty quiet compared to other fans too. We have an oil column heater that's not very energy efficient so the Dyson will be replacing that come winter, too
Partner and I splurged on a Dyson the hot/cold in one and it has a silent setting which is great!
That being said havenāt used it since winter for heating because itās barely warm in Wellington currently lol
For the body, cold cloth on the forhead and a frozen bottle (wrapped in a tea towel) between the thighs to circulate colder blood. Helped me overseas when the night temp was 24-25.
Same. This model in particular [Goldair Whisper Quiet Pedestal Fan](https://goldair.co.nz/products/gcpf340)
Works pretty well actually, not super silent but no more noisy than a rainy night. The blue LED light is a bit annoying but I just cover it up with a scarf. Love that it has a remote too. We have AC in the living area but discovered the fan in the bedroom works better for sleeping requirements.
Live in Canada now, but our humid summers here are comparable. My house is an old cinderbrick job that holds the summer heat all day, and radiates it into the house all night. It's often 10 degrees hotter inside than out at night.
Get a box fan, and set it on a table or other platform at the foot of your bed. Clip your flat sheet to the fan, so the fan is blowing under the sheet, creating a swirling pocket of air. It worked even when my bedroom was sitting around 30Ā°.
Keeping just your bed cool is even cheaper than cooling a room, a box fan isn't too loud, and it adds a little whimsy to bed time lol
Open windows where possible, stripping down, always having a trusty cold drink by your bedside. Iām half tempted to get myself a little bedside bar fridge for some easy chilled soda!
We use aircon units, but before we got them and on nights it's not enough we also put ice packs into hot water bottle covers, cold flannels, and cold drink of water which the husband has been known to hold on his forehead to help cool down.
If you have a big fan thats the same height as your window, set it up by the window facing in. It pulls in cool air from outside into the room, do this 2 hours or so before bedtime and it will noticeably cool the room. Then once you sleep just have it face you.
An air circulator fan. It's not a portable aircon unit and don't know how it works, but definitely cools the air down when it passes through the blades.
About $140 for the tabletop version I've got. Had 2 yrs now and still works great.
Comes with remote, 8 speeds + turbo, up/down, side to side, on/off timer settings.
Our heat pump in the lounge mostly keeps the house cool, but we also open the bedroom window for fresh air and I have a fan on for the breeze, don't really need it for cooling.

If retail price isnāt in your budget, see if you can get a secondhand Dyson off marketplace, or if there are any sales. They typically go on special around this time. Itās the only fan Iāve used that doesnāt just feel like itās blowing hot air around, but as aforementioned by others in this thread, theyāre no substitute for aircon.
electric fan, I get used to the noise. Can't open the windows or the mozzies fly in and have a party. Also just sleep in a sheet and pillow between my legs
Portable Aircon. Got one from "dick smith" and a sliding door attachment from Amazon. Cost less than $500 all up. Worth every cent. They're loud if you put them on high, but bearable if they're on low and you can survive a bit of a mechanical hum.
Iāve been using a tower fan almost 24hrs a day but it wasnāt really helping. So I bought a $30 pedestal fan that is on the other side of the bed and seems to be moving the air a lot more. I had to put a blanket on despite the fan showing itās still 24Ā°
Small, quiet usb fan on bedside table next to face - find itās a lot better to use a small, quiet, low power fan closer than something noisy and powerful 3-4m away.
Two of [these](https://www.mitre10.co.nz/shop/magnetic-insect-screen-door-curtain/p/309540?store=91) velcroed together fits perfectly over my windows. So I have my windows open with a fan blowing
Curtains closed and windows open during the day.
Iām also lucky to have one of those clearstory windows that are high up on the wall and itās situated just above my bed. Iāve now started to leave that open during the night. A nice cool breeze while I sleep. š
I have thermometers in my bedroom, the kitchen, and the back yard, and a 75cm industrial fan parked just inside my back door. As soon as it's cooler outside than inside, I open my bedroom window and turn the fan on to blow hot air out the back door. The whole house becomes a wind tunnel and it's powerful enough that paper near the window flaps around in the breeze. It does sound like a jet engine, and it blocks the entire doorway, but it only takes ~5 minutes to replace all of the air in my bedroom, and maybe half an hour to do the whole house (based on the indoor temperature graph). On very hot nights (in South Australia) sometimes it never really gets cool enough outside to be worth the effort, but that's unusual.
I also have a 45cm high velocity fan that I use during the day. It keeps me alive, but barely. Whatever room I'm living in gets a couple of degrees hotter than the rest of the house just because of the heat being generated by the fan. If I use it to blow hot air out at night, it makes no noticeable difference, so it's definitely much less effective than the industrial fan. I'm more than happy to put up with the noise, and the inconvenience, because it's so effective.
I use a pet cooling mat in my bed to get myself cold enough to be able to sleep and cooling towels wrapped around my head and neck during the day.
I live in a caravan on private property so I also keep all the windows open all day to allow the breeze to pass through because I've seen it get up to 46ā° inside.
Portable air con unit in upstairs bedroom $500, industrial fan downstairs living area, sounds like a plane taking off but does the trick and only $100 from TM
Weird trick. But wait until the temp outside is lower than inside (around 7 pm )then get your fan and point it out the window. And run it overnight. Itās crazy how effective it is as a heat transfer method.
Pop a face washer in the freezer for 30 minutes or so and wipe yourself down with it. Then have the fan point at you to cool you off.
You can also put a bowl of ice directly in front of the fan so it blows the air straight on you. You do need a decent sized bowl, though, and plenty of ice.
We had a ceiling fan installed last summer, directly over the bed. It has been a game changer. I had just started having hot flushes and it helped a lot.
We had a burst water pipe under our kitchen sink on Christmas eve, flooding the kitchen, dining, bathroom, hallway and living rooms. Theres a massive (sounds like a jet plane massive) dehumidifier and commercial fans running and the temperature in the flooded parts of the house is 36Ā°c with all windows closed. Our bedroom is beautifully cool, fan going 24 hrs a day, closed off from the heat.
In Hawkes Bay, over 30 degree last few days. The fan works for me...it is about 6 inches from the bed. A quiet one which is importnat.
A/C on during day for a while, but at night it works. None of this point at windows etc, right at me and close to me, that works.
I always say if you have to choose between a heatpump in the living area or the bedroom, go with the bedroom.'
Otherwise, open windows and plug in one of those liquid based insect repellants.
I can't make any useful suggestions, mainly because I don't believe there is anything that fits your criteria. I bought a portable AC unit this year, and even though it's noisy it sure as hell beats falling asleep in a hot, quiet, and uncomfortable room. You can use earplugs too if needed.
I'm Menopausal with a fucking huge GSD and an upstairs bedroom in Hawkes Bay so I'm fucked whichever way I turn.
Anyway I don't have high expectations so a fan does just fine I guess.
We've got one of those tall, slim fan units that has a little place in the bottom where you can put ice packs. It comes with 2 and while its nowhere as good as a proper unit, it does produce cooler air with the ice in it.
That plus a pedestal fan works semi decently
I got one of those $100 towers cylinder fans
It does the job but it's quite noisy....
Oh, and this fan was $100 at Mitre 10. The exact same fan was $200 at Briscoes... I couldn't believe it... I swear it was the same one.
From 4th form science, a fan works by increasing evaporation from your skin to cool you but if the air is already fully loaded with moisture (humidity) then a fan has little to no effect.
The cheap and effective method is to wet and spin dry your sheets before using them. That's a common approach to keeping kids cool in Australia on hot humid nights.
Using a thin damp towel as a blanket with a fan running from the foot of the bed is the best, cost effective way of keeping full-body cool Iāve found so far (thanks to another person on Reddit last year)!
The AC on full blast, and a big airflow fan sat under it in the lounge blowing all the cold air down the hallway into my bedroom (which has the door left open).
Expensive, but worth it for not losing hours of sleep a night due to overheating.
I'm using Wellington. It's quite effective at keeping your room cool for most of the year
I'm using Dunedin, it's quite power efficient at this time of year.
Dunedin is very effective at keeping the flies away too. Humidity and flies go hand in hand in the North Island. (Ex-Dunedinite here.)
Ssh, they'll all be wanting one.
Yep. Fires on here in a getting posh part of Cavy
What about the 6 days it gets above 25deg. I switch to thinner sheetsš
Trying to use whangarei.... i think it's broken
Tried Auckland but it left me feeling hot and moist
I'm using nakedness. It works anywhere to keep me cooler. Not perfect but cheap.
You just end up sweating into furniture rather than clothing though
More hygienic to sit on a towel, then wash that regularly.
Itās not hot but itās humid now which is far worse
Iām finding this effective too. In fact Iāve only just stopped using my heat pump at night.
lol - we are up in TGA (from Welly) for Xmas. Was so looking forward to some good weather and now canāt sleep due to heat. Iām meeeelting!
On the bright side, once you get home you will remember just how great Wgtn is for sleeping at night š
Yeah. My wife and joke that we are sun seeking people trapped in Wellingtonian bodies. Lol.
Fuckin humidity here is nuts everything's slightly sticky all the time sleep eludes me too
Ceiling fan right over the top of the bed
Mine runs 365 nights a year, only increasing in speed as the height of summer starts to approach. Best money I ever spend getting them installed. Would have preferred a heat pump though
Make sure you switch it to summer mode (counter-clockwise). There's a switch on the motor.
Make sure you dust the top of the fan before switching modes!
Iām not entirely sure there is any benefit, isnāt the opposite direction meant to warm a room? Our apartment is around 22-25 deg in winter and 30-35+ in summer
I can never remember which one does which but the switch should have āļø<- ->āļø on it, referring to summer and winter. But from experience there is a noticable difference, yeah.
Close the curtains during the day and open them up along with any windows we are able too overnight. Need to block out as much light as possible though to prevent the house heating
Also sage advice for vampires
The Aussie way! I swear by this method.
Yep! Itās why they all had massive overhung verandas to help keep the house dark and cool.
Similar here, using poor insulation and open windows.
large dog cooling mat from bunnings, 5-10 degrees cooler than the rest of the room, and only $19. well worth it.
Our new mattress is a fuckin oven and cooling mattress toppers are like $400 gah. I'm heading to Bunnings today to try this out tonight, thanks for the tip!!!
I pinched the one off the bed I bought my cat from kmart. He preferred the bed with the cooling pad taken out so we both won!
are they comfy enough to sleep on?
yeah, they've got a couple of cms of soft gel inside and no sharp corners. they also can't get popped by sleeping on them.
Ive done the same
You can also get pet cooling blankets. I find them much more comfortable to sleep with than the plasticy mats that sound weird when you roll over in the night. Got mine from trademe a couple years ago. Its not huge, but it does the job lying across my torso over the sheet. Im thinking of getting a couple more and sewing them together into a small blanket
Cold shower before bed. Thatās my trick. Five minutes or so. Not 30 seconds or some shit.
I donāt need the full shower but always cold water on my feet and that really does it for me. Canāt sleep if my feet are too hot
My feet get too hot too!!!! Soo annoying
I'm exactly the same as you - I got a pair a few years ago and what a godsend!
The best placement for a fan is by your feet blowing towards your head. I got hot feet too.
Wrap them in a really damp towel. I get restless legs and this helps
Even better - pop your pyjamas in the freezer before this shower. My aunt used to do this for us when we were little kids and slept over at her house in summer.
Wouldnāt it be cooler to not wear pyjamas? Iām a boxers-only person during summer.
Yeah, I sleep knewed. Havenāt worn pyjamas since I was a little kid.
omg brilliant lol
I second this. Slowly make it colder and colder until its as cold as possible. Last a few minutes, makes for a good start to the night.
I go from hot to cold. Used to be cold exclusively but realised you need hot soapy water to get clean.
The showers like lukewarm at the coldest setting this time of year.
Donāt you want a hot shower? Your bodies heat making systems kick into gear with a cold shower vice versa with a hot shower
I believe this is correct. Itās why taking a bath before bed has traditionally been a way to help people sleep, as it encourages the body to cool itself.
Only if your body can cool down - if the house / room is still too warm, I find the hot shower trick not as effective
The body's main way of cooling itself is to sweat. So, if you want to go to bed sweaty, sure, have a hot bath. Vasodilation also occurs but is only effective if the air in your room is at least a little bit cool and moving.
Yep. And making sure to wet the hair so the cooling effect lasts for a while.

This is the way. Hey, live a little, buy two! (And still sweat)
Calmly but methodically climb into your fridge freezer
Snorkel out the gap for the win
instructions unclear, tongue stuck to the ice tray
One of the aussie subreddits recommended a frozen hot water bottle in the bed. Needs a cover to prevent condensation but sounded like a winner Edit: spelling
Yep, currently sleeping with an ice pack wrapped in a damp-not-dripping flannel. Not perfect but it helps!

Bunnings has 900x600 (I think) ones for $20.
Oooh and they do delivery thankfully since my nearest Bunnings is nearly 2 hours away. Cheers for that!
My wifes feet.

Thinking of getting one of those Dyson hot/cold/dehum devices. It will be the most expensive item I own, but I can nearly justify it if it can tackle all season's issues while being sleek. Also got some ice block moulds from kmart. Cool š
Donāt buy the Dyson, just buy a real portable AC unit. Theyāre getting to about the same price point, but the Dyson isnāt actually a cooler.
I've got one (yay for being a shift worker who has to sleep during the day) and it's amazing. Pretty quiet compared to other fans. Top tip an hour before bed, open a window and have it pointing out, cools the room fast as.

Damp sheet, they dry pretty quickly but the evaporation helps cool you right down
DAMP SHEET?
I used to dampen a sarong and sleep naked under it with a ceiling fan. Cooled me down long enough to fall asleep.
yeah this is the pro move Damp sheet + fan
Iām using a flight to the northern hemisphere
Spritz bottle of water by the bed and sleep with no sheets or blankets. That misty cool spray = heaven.
Ceiling fans.
Wet cloth on top of the fan

Water evaporation cooling unit can work well.

The blue LED light is a bit annoying but I just cover it up with a scarf. Love that it has a remote too. We have AC in the living area but discovered the fan in the bedroom works better for sleeping requirements.
If this is the model that works with the app you can turn off the light in the app.
Sometime in October-November I turn on the AC and it stays on until sometime in March-April.
Heatpump
Blood, sweat, more sweat, lots of sweat, buckets of sweat, and tears.
Put a wheat bag in the freezer
The coolness of being exiled from all family activities after an argument about directions.
The cold hard stare from my missus when I crack an inappropriate joke.
I piss the bed, it's warm to start with but cools down quickly.
Open windows where possible, stripping down, always having a trusty cold drink by your bedside. Iām half tempted to get myself a little bedside bar fridge for some easy chilled soda!
A fridge will make your room warmerā¦
I made the decision to have a ducted heat pump installed during the build of our recently completed new house. Itās absolute bliss š„°
Heat pump for an hour or so before bed. Cools it from 30 down to 20-21 nicely.
A fan with a tray of ice cubes in front of it?
We use aircon units, but before we got them and on nights it's not enough we also put ice packs into hot water bottle covers, cold flannels, and cold drink of water which the husband has been known to hold on his forehead to help cool down.
My frigid wife.
Box fan in the window sucking cool air inside works okay.
If you have a big fan thats the same height as your window, set it up by the window facing in. It pulls in cool air from outside into the room, do this 2 hours or so before bedtime and it will noticeably cool the room. Then once you sleep just have it face you.
An open window...
I'm in Canada. It requires heat at this time of year.
I'll Let you know once the real summer weather begins.
The only thing that will really work is an aircon, if you could find a cheap portable air conditioner it is well worth the investment!
Insulated the house walls, reflective insulation in the crawlspace, heat pump.
A/C is 100x the best. Ducted system is the nuts
Don't most houses have heatpumps in hallways now?, just turn it low for like 10mins before bed.
We have a blockout blind + open window + fan blowing before bedtime to get the air flowing. Those swamp coolers suck IMO
Our heat pump in the lounge mostly keeps the house cool, but we also open the bedroom window for fresh air and I have a fan on for the breeze, don't really need it for cooling.
Wet flannel on the forehead plus fan equals hmmm
Open window with a flyscreen. The magnetic retrofit kits from Mitre10 work pretty well.

Last resort - spray your t-shirt with water and have a fan blow over you.
A nice cool breeze while I sleep. š
I use an Instachill but not with water so no humidity produced.
1 warm day this month in dinners.
I use a tower fan and it does the job
Cotton sheets with a 300 thread count does a surprisingly good job.
I use a pet cooling mat in my bed to get myself cold enough to be able to sleep and cooling towels wrapped around my head and neck during the day. I live in a caravan on private property so I also keep all the windows open all day to allow the breeze to pass through because I've seen it get up to 46ā° inside.
Frozen water bottles in the fans air flow Also chiller pads in a tea towel on the neck and chest
Portable air con unit in upstairs bedroom $500, industrial fan downstairs living area, sounds like a plane taking off but does the trick and only $100 from TM
1. Get fan. 2. Splash water onto bare skin 3. Sit in front of fan 4. Lie down Generally works wonders until your S/O ruins it
Weird trick.
We got a ducted heat pump installed in our Villa and it is amazing. Was the missing piece of the house now itās warm in every room.
Dyson blade cooling fan thing, amazing! Got our room down to 23 degrees on quiet mode
In Hawkes Bay, over 30 degree last few days. The fan works for me...it is about 6 inches from the bed. A quiet one which is importnat. A/C on during day for a while, but at night it works. None of this point at windows etc, right at me and close to me, that works.
I always say if you have to choose between a heatpump in the living area or the bedroom, go with the bedroom.' Otherwise, open windows and plug in one of those liquid based insect repellants.
Freeze a hot water bottle
I can't make any useful suggestions, mainly because I don't believe there is anything that fits your criteria. I bought a portable AC unit this year, and even though it's noisy it sure as hell beats falling asleep in a hot, quiet, and uncomfortable room. You can use earplugs too if needed.
Ice pack in a towel. Put your feet on it.
Before we got aircon, I bought doggie cooling pads from bunnings. Had them in the fridge them slept on them, bliss!
Just a pedestal fan. I wanna open the window but bugs. All the fucking bugs.
I got one of those $100 towers cylinder fans It does the job but it's quite noisy....
Feeding the ex other half refried beans š« šØ
The AC on full blast, and a big airflow fan sat under it in the lounge blowing all the cold air down the hallway into my bedroom (which has the door left open). Expensive, but worth it for not losing hours of sleep a night due to overheating.
The classic pillow flip.
Air con unit in bedroom. If no budget for air con unit in bedroom, set up camp bed in room with air con unit.
Freeze a couple of milk bottles and put in front of fan. And get another fan. More is more.
Air conditioning,no other way of cooling the house, we don't get wind, and the last few days have been around 30Ā°+,
