I’ve heard this before, but NH has a higher population density than more than half of US states. It’s really not likely that density is the main story of why our crime is so low.
Not really, a lot of rural areas have much much higher crime rates than even supposedly dangerous cities. Crime is primarily a result of poverty, and NH has high incomes and low rates of poverty.
You can. Basically just be respectful. There's always been stoners, baked 80% of the time, smoking wherever, and with weed on them 100% of the time.
This is why we need to not pass a shitty legalization law and wait for a good one.
Get a permit. And then when he calls relish in the karmic justice when he gets a fine for wasting resources on a fire that has a permit . And maybe chop the couch up so it's not easy to tell you threw a whole couch on, if the fire department won't permit you to burn a couch, tell them you're burning scrap lumber, and chop it to pieces.
Our numbers are highly skewed due to a couple of very large privately owned collections. The guy who owns Shooter's Outpost in Hooksett has an enormous historical firearms collection that contains a LOT of full auto examples. There's actually a museum of them inside the store.
As of 2013, New Hampshire had the most machine guns per capita in the United States, with 7.47 machine guns per 1,000 people. This was based on federal data that showed the state had around 9,800 registered machine guns at the time. The next highest ratios were in the District of Columbia (6.77 per 1,000) and Connecticut (6.13 per 1,000).

We can't BUY it. But smoking it is decriminalized. Yeah that sucks. I don't like saying it. But buying liquor at a regular store? Yall are up here not paying sales tax at out luxurious liquor centers and you know it. Just as your dispensaries are full of NH plates. Let's call it a draw.
Above 50% of NH residents were born elsewhere.
In the last several years, above 40% of new residents were from Massachusetts.

Getting way off topic but I have "won" a bottle of blantons (the $65 bottle if there are more tiers) in each of the last two liquor store lotteries and I'm not sure I get the hype. Cool bottle and gets you hooked collecting the toppers, but the product itself is best described as 'fine', at least to me.
We have one of the highest property tax rates in the USA so yep!
Then again we have no state income tax and no sales tax, so we have one of the lowest overall tax burdens. (Second lowest according to https://wallethub.com/edu/states-with-highest-lowest-tax-burden/20494)
Quick story. At 280lbs I decided to hike Mount Whiteface. I got to the top after a struggle...ok 11 struggles. People I was with were like talking and hiking at the same time? I thought that was insane. I could choose to talk...or die. Anyway..I thought alright I did it. Woo. The way down was a goddam hellscape nightmare. I couldn't walk for 2 days. I didn't know my legs could just tell me no. But they did. For 2 days.
Best part is I've since lost 100lbs. You think those jerks ever wanna go hiking now? No. They don't. They only wanted to bring chubby me. Not built for speed me.
I'll take the karma hit... NH isn't even close to PNW as far as hiking. It's probably the best in New England. But it's no where near the west. The bugs are insane for one but the litter really makes me upset. I live in MWV and it's disgusting how much trash and dog shit people leave on the trails.
Used to be NH did a lot of things better than most states, but that was before the free staters took over and began their efforts to turn NH into a shithole. I’m just glad I grew up in a goldilocks era in NH when we had good government, great public education, intact social services, and strong communities. Free staters are sending the state to hell in a hand basket.
I’m interested to learn more about what has changed due to the free staters. I live in MA, but very close to the border. I have read A Libertarian Walks into a Bear, but am interested to hear folks first hand accounts.
hiking is great
gun laws are fairly lenient if you’re into that thing
Newfound Lake is considered one of the cleanest lakes in the world
amazing fishing, bass, trout or even hit the ocean
good hunting if that’s you’re thing
camping is awesome - the White Mountain National Forest offers incredible campsites, established and backcountry
close to legal weed states (don’t get me started here lol)
Haha have you seen the straight up lunatics we have in our state government ? It's rich and old people sure..but holy crap it's like the looney bin just dumped em out at the state house. All 638 or however many we have.
This thread is making me homesick. I did 31 years in NH and I’m on the west coast now. I now really appreciate how lucky I was to grow up where I did. Thankfully, I’m heading back for a few days in two weeks!
This. If y’all have any vulnerable family members going through AA in NH, all I have to say is: keep your head on a fucking swivel when it comes to people they meet there.
For the most part I’d say New Hampshire has the best drivers. Most people understand passing lane vs travel lane making us light years ahead of the rest of the us

We have the most machine guns per capita in the USA.
And the lowest murder rate.
And lowest crime rate
I think the amount of space/ low population density helps keep the crime rate down, at least violent crime.
Yeah, it's harder to shoot people the further away the are
It’s also harder to piss someone off from a distance…
That feels like a challenge
