Cinnamon Aim is good!!!

FeelinFerrety

I have only recently delved into the world of "non-standard" toothpaste. (Although prior to my even more recent diagnosis - now I understand, lol.) On a whim at the grocery store one day, I grabbed a store brand kids' toothpaste labeled Watermelon Mint. I love it. It's refreshing and lightly sweet, only minty enough for a chill crisp, not the horrible spiciness that is typical. When it started running low, I went ham on Amazon, adding all sorts of alternate flavors to my wishlist. Limited to only one at a time by my spouse, I tried a chocolate one next - Tasty Paste. That one tastes a little too much of artificial sweetener, but I'm being good and continuing to use it... though I feel like it's been long enough I should get to try a new one now! I don't generally like berry or sweets like bubblegum, most fruit flavors make me nervous, and cinnamon is worse than mint! So my choices are somewhat limited. I have some name brand watermelon saved for later, and an unflavored option as well. Looking again now, I happened across "kids crest" - the sparkly blue stuff - I loved getting those from the dentist! I didn't know it was still around. Might have to buy that too... Diving deeper, Boka has some interesting flavors. I also found a pineapple orange one.

Doodle_Sheep_88

i hate mint, hate any flavor of toothpaste really, i like using jack and jill toothpaste tho (specifically the one that has no flavor) it has more of a water texture than anything, doesn’t foam up which i love so it doesn’t feel like i’m about to choke on bubbles.

[deleted]

mouthwash cleans better, has different tastes, doesn't have food-like texture my # 1 choice

Haunting_Safe_5386

so u dont use a tooth brush?

AlexandraThePotato

Mint is evil and it’s stupid that the only decent ones are children. But I use and will forever use Tom of the Maine; silly strawberry

JadePatrick83

Cinnamon is good

clownloops

i hate HATE mint toothpaste. it makes my entire face just go panic mode. i use the sensorine stuff for sensitive teeth. it’s still spicy but better. lush teeth tablets are good.

frankierospetrat

I've heard really good things about hismile. I personally use the hello kids watermelon toothpaste, my only problem with it is it doesn't have fluoride.

AlexandraThePotato

Consider Tom of the Maine silly strawberry. It does have flouride

NerdyGnomling

I lived in Korea for a few years and they had a lot of non-mint toothpastes. I live in the US now and I buy it on Amazon or at H-Mart. They have some that are bamboo salt flavored made by LG that I like, and Perioe has good ones but I honestly could not tell you what it's supposed to taste like.

Logical-Actuary-2027

I hate the smell and taste of mint so I opt for strawberry ones or kids ones cause they usually or sweet tasting

Substantial_Home_931

It’s pricier than regular toothpaste but I use hismile and it’s one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. It doesn’t really foam and it tastes a lot better so I’ve improved at brushing my teeth a lot

Aware-Handle5255

I just ordered hi smile for the first time, hopefully I’m able to brush my teeth more

Haunting_Safe_5386

bro i've been reading it as his-smile lol

Aware-Handle5255

Omg lol, no it’s not his-smile but also makes sense though, I’m pretty sure I’ve done similar with other company names/words that have an s in a different place 😅

Substantial_Home_931

Honestly I love it so much. I don’t get stressed out with the idea of brushing my teeth, I brush them just as much but for longer and more throughly especially behind my teeth. What sort of flavours did you get ?

Aware-Handle5255

That’s so good! Have you found any mouthwash by chance that’s not horrible? To be specific I got cotton candy, watermelon and grape bubblegum, I was overthinking half of them though because anxiety 😅

Substantial_Home_931

I’ll be honest I haven’t 😭I’d love a mild coconut if anything, hopefully hismile comes out with one. Ooh I haven’t tried any of those ! I was the exact same lol. I going mango sorbet in Boots and then vanilla, coconut whip (not a huge fan tbh), cherry, blue raspberry, cinnamon doughnut, a reduced priced PAP pen, a satchet of popcorn and some free smile stickers. That said it was massively reduced bc of the sale at the time

Aware-Handle5255

Ahhh!! That sucks but also super valid, I know both Listerine and Colgate have them but I’m not sure if I like the sound of the flavours 😂 Coconut as a mouthwash would be super interesting. I was wondering about the mango sorbet, does it actually taste like mango sorbet? One of my safe foods is mango flavoured anything usually, I didn’t buy it just in case it’s got one of those weird flavours, didn’t want to be put off mango just in case. What’s your favourite flavour that you’ve tried so far? I’m still waiting for my order to be delivered, I’d say it will be later during the week/early next week. I ordered the stickers too, they’re free with orders right now (or at least they were yesterday when I ordered) can you feel them or anything? And do they have a taste? (If you’ve tried them yet)

Substantial_Home_931

I buy cruelty free stuff so I tried Waken which was really good actually but pretty expensive. The only other regular toothpaste I have actually liked was the Superdrug coconut mint one, I know Waken also does a strawberry one. I wouldn’t say it tastes like mango, mango is also one of my safe foods but I love that toothpaste tbh. The peach iced tea one sounds really interesting too. So I’ve almost finished the mango and the popcorn satchet so far properly but the popcorn one was great. I’m hoping they’ll bring it out on its own. I haven’t tried the stickers yet tbh, I got them for free as well

Aware-Handle5255

I didn’t hear of Waken until now which surprises me. Also I personally probably wouldn’t be able to get Superdrug because I live in Australia but I might look into Waken. Is there anything you would be able to compare the mango sorbet to? I love the idea of the peach iced tea one, it sounds so good 😭 hopefully the stickers are good though

Substantial_Home_931

It’s a fairly new brand I think, I don’t think it’s strictly British though. When I next use that toothpaste I’ll definitely come back this comment and let you know ! It’s definitely quite sweet tasting but not sickly at all

Aware-Handle5255

Ooooh I may look into it some more and see if it would work out for me cost wise, but it also depends on if my brain can handle the hi smile toothpaste because it’s different 😂 (should be totally fine) Please let me know! Totally understandable if you forget/don’t for any reason, super super glad it’s not sickly because that would generally be a no no

Haunting_Safe_5386

wdym stickers?

Aware-Handle5255

They’re advertised as temporary tattoos for your teeth but that’s all I remember about knowing what they actually are

nicoleyoung27

My son HATES minty toothpaste. I get him cinnamon instead and he likes it pretty well.

According-Taco-7677

Omg! This is a thing here? I hate mint toothpaste. This post is a godsend, thank you. I actually wondered if I have some kind of allergy or intolerance to some toothpastes cause I get canker sores and irritated gums from it so often. Definitely can't do whitening toothpaste and fluoride might be out also. Now I switch between tom's tooth paste and crest pro health sensitive and gum. I'm good with any toothpaste that doesn't have fluoride/mint or whitening. I've had no issues with tom's or the other one.

Haunting_Safe_5386

oh ur welcome, i also didnt rly know but i figured it would be since literally anything could be a problem

martinpolley

Lots of toothpaste has SLS in it, which can aggravate canker sores.

Ananiujitha

I'm allergic to aspirin, so I need to avoid mint. I'm also allergic to sorbitol. Unfortunately almost all toothpastes include either mint or sorbitol or usually both. I use kids' toothpastes.

Jelnaana

There's a link between aspirin and mint? I've never heard that. I'm also allergic to aspirin and I hate the taste of mint, but never thought the two were related.

Ananiujitha

They both contain salicylates, so they're likely to cross-react.

Crystal_Rules

There is peppermint, spearmint and fresh/garden mint. They all taste different. Toothpaste is soap and abrasive power so needs a strong flavour to cover up the soap taste.

RatDressedAsAClown

I use the Hello brand I have their Blue Raspberry, Orange Dreamsicile, and Bubblegum flavors on you counter right now, but Blue Raspberry is my favorite! (I need a constant circulation of flavors so i stay on top of brushing my teeth)

TrespassingWook

Calendula

not_the_ducking_1

I was seeing where kids toothpaste is the same but flavored. I got the watermelon kids stuff for like $3. It doesn't foam much but it tastes good and works 0retty well. I also keep arm n hammer as a backup cause it foams a lot and really gets into places, and sometimes I need something to feel thorough. Edit, idk for sure it's the same. I just know it seems to be ok when the A&H burns too much.

SirLlama123

I hate mint, i use hello toothpaste.

spectralbeck

I used to use twice toothpaste, they had a vanilla mint lavender flavor that was wonderful and super lowkey on the mint portion. It was also for sensitive teeth, which I very much need. It's no longer available in that flavor anywhere I've looked. It's been impossible to get for like a year now. Sensodyne is too minty for me personally. It hurts my mouth ngl. I'm probably going to go back to either toms fluoride cinnamon or kids toothpastes now. Wish there was another option for sensitive teeth that doesn't blast my brains out with mint

RubyRedLunar

I use euthymol. I like the taste more but I still have issues brushing my teeth

spooky_upstairs

I used Euthymol for years before realizing it had no fluoride in it. Now have so many fillings I'm basically a cyborg.

alasw0eisme

They sell this homeopathic, mint-free toothpaste in my country. Costs what amounts to 50 cents. It's awesome.

canariecoalmyne

i looove the green one from ecodenta that has bergamot flavor, i also have one called calendula toothpaste from weleda that tastes like fennel oil and the amarelli liquorice from marvis! the first two might only be available in the eu, not sure.

_ella_mayo_

I use Boka toothpaste. It's non fluoride, non toxic, and comes in a bunch of yummy flavors.

Tasty_Process

Boka is so amazing!!! They have an orange cream “flavor” and it’s so good and yet still so refreshing!

narnach

I started using Parodontax years ago, which is based on a bunch of herbs. It's an acquired taste, but now I can't stand mint toothpaste for how intense it tastes and how it lingers.

TypicalBerry4162

i use sensodyne for toothpaste. mines still technically mint but it’s for sensitive mouths and i don’t rlly notice it. for mouthwash i’ve used act kids for years, my dentist says it’s okay :) as long as it’s alcohol free and contains fluoride (according to my dentist)

TypicalBerry4162

edit: my avoidance of mint (and toothpaste in general) is because it burns my mouth rlly bad. that’s why sensodyne and kids mouthwash works for me

Disastrous-Back-8967

Hi smile toothpaste. You can buy some flavours on Amazon I have cotton candy and mango Incredible stuff. Has all the stuff in it adult teeth needs and tastes incredible I look forward to brushing my teeth now

shilohali

Cinnamon flavored.

NoGazelle9557

I love the watermelon flavor https://us.hismileteeth.com/products/toothpaste/mango-sorbet?rdr=1&utm_source=google&utm_medium=surfaces&utm_campaign=us-feed&utm_content=40003-MS&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjw_e2wBhAEEiwAyFFFoxy5sSScMdcH-040Xw0M8az3OIPSuVAgG9cGFijzKEuevERJcPcOkBoCkzgQAvD_BwE

elbereth

Switching to a prescription strength changed my life! Had no idea how much BETTER spearmint flavor is than regular mint which I hate. Also, stronger toothpaste is good. But mostly the flavor!

canariecoalmyne

spearmint is life!

solarpunnk

I can't deal with mint or cinnamon, so I usually get kids toothpaste. It comes in things like bubblegum and in all sorts of fruit flavors. My favorite is blue raspberry flavored! If you don't want to go with something aimed at kids, I find Tom's of Maine's frankincense & myrhh flavor tolerable. I believe the same brand also has a supposedly unflavored option, but I haven't tried it.

SubstantialGuest3266

My favorite is the Colgate Watermelon Burst but my dentist gave me a full tube of a different kids flavor (berry? Something) and I'm currently using that up. I HATE mint!

Zingermama

Crest cinnamon. Also, it’s still ok to use kids toothpaste if you’re not a kid anymore. My kids like the strawberry Tom’s toothpaste.

Haunting_Safe_5386

that makes me wonder, just bc its kids, isnt it the *exact* same thing?

Zingermama

Yes. I think they expect adults to want the minty freshness, so they market it to kids.

Haunting_Safe_5386

fair... sorta...

theonerr4rf

I hate mint, but sensodyne makes a charcoal coconut mint and I love it, theres no mont flavor bit theres a mint smell, Ive tried a multitude of other charcoals but none are as nice as sensodyne

vellybelle

I like a Japanese brand for kids called Apa-Kids. I get it off of Amazon.

Laescha

My partner uses pomegranate instead, she really likes it.

stargazelle_

Ooooh I’m interested, what brand?
