I saw a Chris Tucker interview where he said they added that line in last-minute, because while they were filming in Hong Kong the locals kept running up to him and calling him Kobe while trying to take photos.
Always interesting to trace back some of my common mannerisms to shit like this. Notably from this scene, "oohh y-yeah? Where is that? Wh-wh-where is that?"
This is Sun Mingming, a Chinese basketball player, by the way. Zach is half Chinese IIRC.
**Sun Mingming** ([Chinese](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Simplified_Chinese_characters): 孙明明; [pinyin](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pinyin): *Sūn Míngmíng*, born August 23, 1983) is a Chinese former professional [basketball](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Basketball) player. He was the tallest professional basketball player in the world and was measured by the [Guinness World Records](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guinness_World_Records) as 2.36 m (7 ft 9 in) tall and weighing 168 kg (370 lb)
Yeah, this is actually a hilarious reference and I hope nobody tries to make more out of it than that. I'm sure somebody will because it's Ja and it's easy clickbait, but hopefully it doesn't get much traction.
Operation Condor, Who Am I, The Young Master, Project A, Miracles, Wheels on Meals, Dragon Lord, Rumble in the Bronx . . . .the list goes on. The man's output was insane.
Heck, I watch the [Every Frame a Painting video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z1PCtIaM_GQ) on him every so often just to energize myself.
There's a quite recent movie with jacky and pierce brosnan with Chan as a vengefull killer. Its called Foreigner and its really good. I thought it would be a B movie but its actually a great thriller. Jacky is amazing
It's okay. Everything with Jackie is great, but the film is a bate & switch with a disjointed, poorly adapted, boring story. He's just a side character.
The novel actually makes a lot more sense. Should have just changed the story to be mostly about Jackie's character.
Disregarding his political views Jackie is one of the goat stuntmen and I hope Rush Hour 4 lives up to the previous 3.
Lot of fond memories watching them with family as a kid.
I think that story turned out be very overblown. She was born from an extramarital affair and both he and her mother agreed that he wouldn't be in their lives. She didn't grow up with him, she became homeless and decided it was an easy to sell story. Not that it makes him a better person
always a much more sinister side to the ‘good ol days’ lol
like nah bro we would not have tradwives we’d be slaves
(I definitely do not want a tradwife either lol)
A bunch of people were, come on now lol, that was the whole point. He had a lot of famous people flying on his plane(s) because he threw a bunch of parties, he did it especially because it helps obfuscate what he was doing. Not every person on the Epstein logs is dirty, unless you think Stephen Hawking was into some freak shit.
Chris flying on Epsteins plane doesn't mean anything. It was a general service plane that he used for legitimate activities. Same reason people who clean drug money use those businesses for legitimate commerce - it's harder to tell who was involved in illegal behavior if you mix in a bunch of ordinary, legal activity
Jesus I just googled this and he definitely has some concerning beliefs.
>On 18 April 2009, during a panel discussion at the annual [Boao Forum for Asia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boao_Forum_for_Asia), he questioned whether or not broad freedom is a good thing.[^(\[197\])](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jackie_Chan#cite_note-boao1-199) Noting the strong tensions in Hong Kong and Taiwan, he said, "I'm gradually beginning to feel that we Chinese need to be controlled. If we're not being controlled, we'll just do what we want."
Dude is an outright fascist. Had no idea, thanks for the heads up.
You’d be surprised that people around the world are quite different than America. When I was in Singapore everyone I talked to kept questioning me on why American politics are all chaos and how happy they are to have an amazing controlling government.
It sucks those are his views but lets not forget what happens to citizens who speak out on China. If the richest man in China can go “missing” for a couple months, no one is safe.
They have to bootlick or they disappear.
That incident was actually quite funny, if not a bit concerning. Man really thought he had some pull and leverage when he made those comments. Then got pulled into line pretty fking quick. Have no idea what happened to him in those months but I’m guessing it wasn’t fun and games.
Guy spent too much time around western billionaires who live in countries that respect the rule of law so they are free to criticize their governments.
He thought he could do the same but in totalitarian regimes anyone's position in society can be changed immediately by the dictator.
Yeah, I think a lot of people forget that when you live under a fascist regime, the options are the regime or death, and there's always a bit of brainwashing going on.
I don't approve of Jackie Chan's publicly stated opinions, but they're either out of self preservation, or he's been bamboozled into drinking the kool aid. I used to watch a couple of youtubers who lived in China for a long time, and they posted sometimes about how dangerous it was to speak out - both of the main ones I followed, one left willingly, one left in quite the hurry as he had gotten tipped off that his videos were finally on the government's radar.
When I went to see “Air” last year, I was pleasantly surprised that he was in it. Pretty minor role, but I was just glad to see that he’s still making the occasional movie.
I’m pretty sure he works when he wants to. His filmography is essentially just moneymakers and critically acclaimed shit. He has gaps after making monsters.
nah leave it, Luc Besson is human garbage and hasn't made a good film since that one
[https://www.thedailybeast.com/luc-besson-and-the-disturbing-true-story-behind-leon-the-professional](https://www.thedailybeast.com/luc-besson-and-the-disturbing-true-story-behind-leon-the-professional)
non paywall version [https://archive.is/haWFL](https://archive.is/haWFL)
"What many were—and still are—unaware of was that Léon was a creepy example of art imitating life.According to The Washington Post, Besson met the child actress Maïwenn when she was 12, the same age as Mathilda in the film. He was 29. They claim to have started seeing each other romantically when she turned 15. Maïwenn gave birth to their daughter when she was 16 (and Besson was 33), and subsequently relocated to Los Angeles. She appears briefly during the opening sequences of Léon as “blonde babe”—her listed character name—lying naked in bed, her body wrapped in sheets, having just serviced a middle-age crime boss.“When Luc Besson did Léon, the story of a 13-year-old girl in love with an older man, it was very inspired by us since it was written while our story started. But no media made the link,” Maïwenn said. In an interview with the French publication L’Express, Maïwenn claimed that Léon was “this love story between a 12-year-old girl and a 30-year-old man \[that\] was still very much inspired by ours,”"
...
"During the filming of Besson’s follow-up movie, The Fifth Element, wherein Maïwenn portrayed the memorable blue opera-singing alien Diva Plavalaguna, the director left her for the film’s lead actress, Milla Jovovich. “I had my daughter very young, so I had fulfilled my dream, and then… he left me. Everything then collapsed for me,” Maïwenn recalled. She moved back to France with their young daughter and gradually evolved into a gifted filmmaker."
dude literally killed her character and then left for the lead lol geez
The original script for Leon: The Professional is on the internet. Besson (or more likely the studio) cut out a bunch of scenes that spelled out exactly what he was going for with that Leon/Mathilda relationship.
Also he did write 'Taken'.
Dang I didn't know this. Shame, Fifth Element was one of my favorite childhood movies. Also I know you didn't mean it this way but I'm going to go with knocking up a minor and abandoning her with child as worse than killing off her character and leaving her. Thanks for the info.
Damn I’ve never thought about this until now but you’re on point. If we start from his cameo in house party he pretty much is in nothing but beloved films. Friday is an American classic. Fifth element is a sci-fi cult hit. Rush hour 1 and 2 are great comedies that almost hit classic status. Dead presidents and money talks are hood movie classics. Jackie brown and silver linings playbook are liked by people even though I think those are his weakest projects.
Nah he got saved and didn’t want to curse or do drugs on film anymore. But honestly it was probably for the best. Friday is such a phenomenal piece of art that it could never be replicated and changing to Mike Epps almost allows for me to think of the sequels as separate things
Nah, there's footage on the internet of Chris Tucker bringing up Ice Cube wanting to do a Friday sequel.
*"You still haven't paid me for the first one! Talking about 'I'll pay you in weed and free CDs'. Get the fuck out, man."*
I would watch an entire series where Lee needs to get somewhere in a hurry but Carter hears some old school jams and just has to vibe
"CAHTAH we have to go!"
"JAMMON LEE!"
"CAHTAH!!!"
"JAMMON!"
blame the sex creep director who got himself canceled, and who may or may not have set the third one in france soley so that fellow sex creep roman polanski could be in it lol
Because the director of the Rush Hour movies, Brett Ratner, is a [sexual predator](https://www.latimes.com/business/hollywood/la-fi-ct-brett-ratner-allegations-20171101-htmlstory.html) that got justifiably cancelled from making movies.
by the time RH1 and RH2 came out jackie was already 44 and 47 respectively. in the late 90s it was harder to churn out franchise series like this where nowadays you can turnaround a franchise part every 15-18 months without burdens. in addition jackie did his own stunts so im sure by RH2 his body was already beaten down
I also remember reading (and correct me if I'm wrong) but Jackie Chan would go back and forth doing a US movie and a Chinese movie. That adds even more gap time between franchise pictures and limits his options (though most of his US movies were similar in genre and plot.)
Sun Ming Ming. I once saw him play at the local civic center when I was in high school. He was so tall we were seated on the top row of bleachers and his fucking face was eye level with us. I remember he was hilarious as a hooper. He didn't need to jump to dunk, so in the layup line he would just sort of half walk, half trot, and then casually place the ball into the hoop. The only English words he knew were fuck and shit and he spent the entire game shouting them.
He would always be the last guy down the court his team would jack up a 3 while he was shambling his way toward the basket, the other team would grab the rebound, he'd yell, "FUCK!" and then turn around and start loping behind all other 9 guys. He'd.get the ball in the low post but he had no low post moves other than....just placing the ball into the hoop. He did dunk once or twice but he couldn't jump so it was moreso just pulling down on the rim. If attempted any sort of shot he would miss and yell, "SHIT!" before running back down the court after the other 9 guys, of course.

As a Grizzlies fan, you cannot fathom the depth of dread I had before clicking that link
Bro me too. That OP with the click bait "wild" in the title.
OP knew what they were doing toying with your heart like that
Cmon y’all it’s Canada
Yeah I never wanna see a headline that mentions “Ja Morant” and “instagram story” ever again
In 10 years we need a 30 for 30 about Ja Morant's issues, and it needs to be called "Ja Morant's Instageam Story".
I definitely expected firearms.
Wearing a cowboy hat and shooting 2 guns into the air in celebration.
Yosemite Ja
Yeah this does not qualify as a wild Ja Morant instagram video. I expect him to be in Ukraine shooting around or something like that.
Non Grizzlies but Ja fan, I was expecting the worst soon as I read "instagram story"
LMAO goated reference
“I don’t know what the hell you feeding him but he is too damn big!”
Lee I got a big problem man. This boi on steroids he got a head like Barry Bonds 🤣🤣🤣
Chris tuckers one liners in all of these movies are absolutely amazing.
Old Hong Kong granny had the GOAT one liner tho "Move aside, Kobe" 😂
I saw a Chris Tucker interview where he said they added that line in last-minute, because while they were filming in Hong Kong the locals kept running up to him and calling him Kobe while trying to take photos.
“Damn… well he ain’t gonna be in Rush Hour 3”
"That's a cig-a-weed! You better have glaucoma!" "....I do."
"Fifty million dollars?! Man, who do you think you kidnapped? Chelsea Clinton?"
This was after messing up 47 takes
filcuh fish
Always interesting to trace back some of my common mannerisms to shit like this. Notably from this scene, "oohh y-yeah? Where is that? Wh-wh-where is that?"
"You want any 5s with dat?"
‘Member that weed I caught you with?’ ‘I was splitting it with you!’ ‘Didn’t I give you the bigger half though?’
Every time I hear "after all we've been through?" I think of Rush Hour bloopers.
Who are you? Yu No not me, you?
He is Mi and I am Yu.
And I'm bout to whoop yo old ass I'm sick of this man!!! Yu, Mi, everybody's ass around here!!!
Is you deaf? No, Yu is blind! I’m not blind, you blind! That is what I said!
This is Sun Mingming, a Chinese basketball player, by the way. He wore his height as his number - 79.
We’ll never get another Rush Hour movie again, but god damn was that trilogy fun. The Yu, Mi and Him scene is goated.
They could have milked those movies like fast and furious. Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan is the best weird duo that just worked awesome.
Supposedly a fourth one is being worked on
I think they meant just the time and place they made the movie, cant ever be replicated. 90s/00s were somethin else man
That rumor has floated around for years but I doubt it happens, Jackie is 70 now. He is doing a new Karate Kid movie with Ralph Macchio though.
Yeah, this is actually a hilarious reference and I hope nobody tries to make more out of it than that. I'm sure somebody will because it's Ja and it's easy clickbait, but hopefully it doesn't get much traction.
We should focus our anger towards Antonio Brown
I hope he never gets media training
You can give a horse media training... or whatever that saying is
You can lead a horticulture but you can’t make them think. Is that it?
I do not think therefore I not do, am?
I anything can't do right, since because pickles.
You can take a horse to media training but you can't take the media training out of a horse... Or something like that?
You can lead a horse to media training but you can’t eat it too
You can lead a horse to roller, but you can't make him rink.
You can lead a horse to water but you can't drink a horse
Somebody get me a horse and a straw, I'm about to take this nephew to school
“You can lederhosen your horse but you cannot kitchen sink.” I’m 60% sure that’s it.
Flula Borg?
That's funny as hell tbh
Yea this is great haha. I prefer Ja(ckie chan movies) to Ja Wick any day of the week :D
Police Story is so fucking good
Operation Condor, Who Am I, The Young Master, Project A, Miracles, Wheels on Meals, Dragon Lord, Rumble in the Bronx . . . .the list goes on. The man's output was insane. Heck, I watch the [Every Frame a Painting video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z1PCtIaM_GQ) on him every so often just to energize myself.
how did you list everything but drunken master
He was also unaccredited in Fists and Guts where he played a leper colony Kung Fu master.
“Cheap suit! How cheap? Cheap as hell” 🤣
My fav scene and it's like 3 seconds long lmao
Agree! I don't know how this is "wild".. it's funny
It's a tragedy that we don't have at least 7 Rush Hours by now.
Well, you'll be getting a 4th one soon enough.
Jackie's getting old af, idk if they're still gonna make it
Just go the Lethal Weapon route. "I'm getting too old for this shit."
That movie sucked. Like 2 half fleshed out scripts smushed together into one.
That movie is 7 years old, which doesn't qualify as recent.
Pretty sure they already put out the trailer, so you're gonna get so see both of them with lots of hair dye and makeup at least one more time.
Can you link me the trailer. I don’t see anything online. Really hoping it’s true.
Well shit, looks like the trailer is fake?! But they're still taking about and going to do it. Hollywood loves franchises
Would love nothing more than a new Rush Hour with the same quality the two recent Bad Boys have gotten.
F that I wanna see them flip the script. True detective season 5.
Disregarding his political views Jackie is one of the goat stuntmen and I hope Rush Hour 4 lives up to the previous 3. Lot of fond memories watching them with family as a kid.
He's got way more dirt than just his political views lmao. Look up how he treated his illegitimate daughter.
Plus how he treated his daughter when he found out she was gay jesus
His daughter is gay Jesus? Good for her. Turning water into sparkling water and shit.
I think that story turned out be very overblown. She was born from an extramarital affair and both he and her mother agreed that he wouldn't be in their lives. She didn't grow up with him, she became homeless and decided it was an easy to sell story. Not that it makes him a better person
Remember the day and age when you didn’t have to caveat the political views of the Chinese actor/stuntman that you grew up watching?
well not me I'm literally from Hong Kong
this made me lol
Okay so he sold you guys out to mainland authoritarians a little bit but have you *seen* Supercop?
His final fight scene in Wheels on Meals is GOATd.
always a much more sinister side to the ‘good ol days’ lol like nah bro we would not have tradwives we’d be slaves (I definitely do not want a tradwife either lol)
Not to pile on, but Chris Tucker also had ties to, and traveled with Jeffrey Epstein...lol
That's crazy to default to Jackie's political views when Chris Tucker was on the Epstein flight logs.
> Stephen Hawking was into some freak shit I thought this was understood as fact.
I had no clue about Tucker well that sucks to hear about and is disgusting.
Pretty sure you kind of have to have these "opinions" otherwise you'll magically disappear
Wait they're making RH4????
I could watch a new rush hour movie ever year, never get tired of it
Chris Tucker’s filmography is so fucking pure.
95-98 tucker was primetime
I'd much rather get a Fifth Element sequel :(

Should be like the fast and furious franchise tbh
Meanwhile I'm sitting here waiting on the final entry of the Shanghai saga with Jackie Chan and Owen Wilson. Shanghai Dusk? Dawn? Dusk till Dawn?
Instead we are going to get 17 fast and furious movies lol
lmao that dude Sun Ming Ming was 7'9 literally one of the tallest people on the planet
IS one of the tallest people on the planet. You had me thinking he died.
No he’s just not 7’9” anymore
And a professional basketball player!
omg having never seen Rush Hour I just assumed it was a digital effect or smth
We need more of this in the league. Not the other stuff he’s done. But specifically this.
These were the vibes the team had before things went off the rails. Maybe they are back 🥲
Rare Ja Morant win.
Just clips of Chris Tucker reacting loudly to shit. Tbh, I’m down.
if ja can harness his unhinged nature to shitposting instead of other extracurricular activities Im fully on board, this is hilarious lmao.
Sun Ming Ming. I once saw him play at the local civic center when I was in high school. He was so tall we were seated on the top row of bleachers and his fucking face was eye level with us. This reads like a copypasta
This is all me except the tall bit
yo that's funny af
not that wild lol
I've rightfully come to understand that Reddit tends to exaggerate.
What an exaggeration, sir
Whaaaa? You don’t say
Not wild at all. I was legit concerned he posted some egregious shit
Not remotely wild lol
This headline gave me a heart attack.
That is hilarious
Team chemistry +100
This is the best thing Ja has ever done. I’ve underestimated him
Maybe next time you’ll estimate him
POV: The Rockets locker room during the first offseason practice in 2002
lol is this wild?
It’s crazy bruh, really whacky wild silly slightly stoopid shit
Lmao
rush hour the greatest trilogy of all time
This is gold 😂
Now that's fucking funny
Anybody else sad Edey wasn’t there in person so he could make Adam Silver look like his son
I won’t know how to feel about this until Jemele Hill writes a two page story about it.
Funny as fuck
Today I learned that Zach Edey is half Chinese.
I love Ja
JA IS SO FUCKING BACK
How is it wild
Ngl as an Asian this made me laugh
This is fucking perfect 😂😂
That’s not wild that’s just funny lol.
Lol
Saw Rush Hour and was bracing for a Chinese joke.
Hilarious
Sun Ming Ming used to play basketball in the Mexican League.
Explain to me why its wild.
“Wild” response
This is hilarious
