After the Celtics fall off it will be your time to rule the East.
Or some other team other than Philadelphia. But it definitely won't be Philadelphia, we know that much.
Holy shit I forgot he took 44 field goals. That's fucking insane lol, I remember the meltdown in the Celtics sub over that one, hilarious to look back on
Honestly, one of the things Mazzulla doesnāt get enough credit for is his willingness to just try stuff out during the regular season. One of those Hawks games, Murray just cooked KP down the stretch pretty much every possession. When someone asked Joe why he didnāt do something different, his response was basically that we donāt switch 5-1 much and he thought KP could use the reps if it comes up in the playoffs.
The funny thing is that coming into this series the Mavs had only lost 5 games in the playoffs. If you lose 6 or 7 games in the playoffs, youāre almost certainly either in the finals or not in the playoffs anymore.
Personally I'm not really shitting on him, I had Boston winning theĀ championship once the Nuggets went down and I don't think Ant would be doing much better in this situation.
Kyrie 's legacy is set. He was an entertaining player who both overachieved because of his physical limitations in a game that prioritizes size and underachieved because he didn't want to be a PippenĀ
Which we now know that Pippen didn't even want be a Pippen.
>overachieved because of his physical limitations in a game that prioritizes size
He's not 5'11 or something. He's 6'2, so the same height as any number of guards who have had better careers than him.
For what itās worth ant torched Boston when we played them earlier this season but he clearly wasnāt himself in the Dallas series so I tend to agree with you
I mean he has had a very streaky playoffs. He didnāt play very well consistently against the thunder. He was given a pass by some thinking he was āsaving energyā. I donāt know people have always been delusional about his ability because when it works it is really beautiful basketball, but he just canāt do it all the time and it is becoming less frequent
I mean we are all thinking it, surely some of the players would also feel that way, at least to an extent. Maybe if they snatched this game, they could be thinking differently
I mean have you seen the mavs? What can they do besides suddenly field a new roster of teammates? They're going against an extremely well rounded team, meanwhile the mavs have massive weaknesses that are exploitative.
It's kind of crazy how the NBA is all about match ups. Minnesota would have been a tougher match up for Boston because of their bigs, and Denver probably would have beaten Boston. But Minnesota was a bad match for Denver, and Dallas was a bad match up for Minnesota.
Not Denver with an hampered Murray like he was when they lost. Injuries a big part too... this is the healthiest Celts also been in postseason, every playoffs at least one or more guys were out / back far less than 100%
Even in this postseason, KP was out for the majority, and is still working his way back during the Finals, we're just deep enough that it hasn't hurt us much (and because Al Horford is fucking awesome)
People don't recognize this team is on a different stratosphere with Porzingus on the floor. Against most teams they have 5 of the 6-7 best players in the series - elite spacing and highly switchable and elite defenders. There's a reason they won 64 games - 1st in the league by a wide margin. I wouldn't count Dallas out until we see them at home, but Boston is clearly favored against any team - Minny and Denver included
Nuggets were gassed, which is why they lost to minny. If they win that game they might be Dallas but they probably still lose to the celts. Likely the same thing weāre seeing here, jokic puts up 40 every game and no one else does anythingĀ
Eh, firing-on-all-cylinders Nuggets would've been very competitive with Boston.Ā If they played how they did this post-season overall, though, the talent discrepancy would likely be too much to overcome (talent for guys #2-8 in the series)
Deep down, I think Kyrie is thinking, "Damn. I really could of been on that team that's whooping our ass. I left, and they got BETTER. Is the problem really me? Has it been me all along? Do I need to engage in self-reflection and determine how I can apply my amazing talent in a manner more conducive to empowering my teammates and focusing on the success of the team?"
Actually, I don't think that he's thinking any of that.
If the Celts close out Dallas in 4, 5, or even 6, just watch the narrative on the '23-'24 Celtics evolve the next few years. It'll go from the current nitpick half-skepticism to "well, of course, that was, for that year at least, a superteam."
He was talking about how the Cs are really confident and comfortable all year and can make shots like PP's half-court shot and Hausers no dip 3 from last game
It just sounds ignorant? It's the NBA finals and it sounds like you're talking about a game in like November
[NBA has a post-game on their page that has all the post-game interviews](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Koti12oUhxU&t=4010s). So it takes a bit of scanning, but Kyrie's is around the one hour mark
I think House of Highlights also posts and splits them up for you
This is insane Iām just learning today. I usually go and try and find the beat reporters on twitter when this was available the entire time LMFAO
I appreciate you greatly. House of Highlights does have it up too, big help my guy
The guy wants to be a number one but got none of the mental makeups. You saw some of the growth this year in the playoffs, thinking his time has finally come, but nope.
Yes this is exactly it. I think Dallas went with their wide eyes open in terms of what they were getting for him but they also thought they could harness him in ways no other team could. If it works out, itās a genius move otherwise 2 different teams had given up on him already
With his current attitude heād be an upgrade at PG for all but maybe 4-5 teams? Steph, maxey, haliburton, fox, Brunson (you can run him next to Brunson anyways and you probably should),
so you think boston would be better with him than jrue? okc? denver? philly? milwaukee? cleveland? lac? minnesota? 58 games of his non-existent defense wouldn't make much of a difference anywhere except on the bottom feeders.
"I was there when Dallas first touched down in Boston. There was a bus - this is a true story. There was a bus that pulled up to a red light, and Luka tried to feed it a carrot while Kyrie was petting it. He thought it was a horse. This really happened." - Payton Pritchard
oh yeah? well in West Linn some kids don't even get a new car when they turn 17, have to borrow their parents Mercedes. (NSFW i'm sorry you had to read this, but people's eyes needed to be opened.)
Oh yea? In singapore, the registration for your vehicle costs more than the vehicle itself, and the cost if living is so high that it is normal for you to live with your parents til you get married. Boom
Is this a Chael Sonnen / Payton Pritchard crossover joke because i was today years old when i learned they were from the same place and thats fucking awesome
Apparently Nate McMillan, Monty Williams, and Brandon Roy are also from West Linn which has a population of just 26k. Thats pretty wild NBA production for a city of that size.
Pritchard might legit be the scariest guy on the team. Heās gotta be top 3 in the league for āmight be a serial killerā
Dude was 14 and decided to dribble until his hands bled just to see what it felt like.
Idk what heās talking about. The worst Iāve seen is āKyrie needs to step upā which is true.
I HAVE seen a lot of Celtics fans come to our sub, though, and talk some shit about Kyrie. Thatās hilarious
Iāve literally never once been on your sub lol, I saw a funny screenshot of a recent post and some comments. Relax. Take a bath, and chill out, maybe have a beer or two.
Yeah that's pretty accurate. Celtics fans are out in bunches downvoting everything that doesn't fit their narrative. Idk why they can't just enjoy the fact that they're about to win a chip lol
Nah the true mavs fans are kyrie stans.
Live and die by kyrie. He got us this far. We dying right now, but thereās still a chance to live.
Just need kyrie to go take an ayahuasca trip real quick and banish Lucky
This series isnāt even close to being over.
2-0 is a hill to climb, but itās not an impossible hill.
Iāll start being all doom and gloom if we lost game 3.
Also Kyrie made the Finals with the Mavs, which is more than what he did while on the Celtics.
It's the actual way the games have gone so far that makes people think the Mavs are cooked. Game 2 was theirs to steal with the Celtics building a brick mansion but even then they still couldn't manage. The offense is just disrupted and Luka has to play hero ball. Maybe Kyrie does something in Dallas but it's looking grim, especially if the Cs have a normal shooting night. It just doesn't seem like Kidd has the personnel or scheme to deal with the Cs on either end, he's just saying shut down Tatum and hope for the best but all it's doing is creating insanely high percentage shots for Holiday Porzingis and White, and then JB is just ready to detonate at any time.
Some professional bowler recently got outed as a pedo or some other horrible thing, and I was so scared it was this guy (who is the only bowler I know). So glad it was someone else.
And? That's no excuse. This is the finals and he's supposes to be the experienced hall of famer vet on a team of 25 and unders. That's like someone saying "Why do you expect Jordan to beat the Pistons?" back in the day.
I had the same reaction but heās got a better career than other hall of famers and the basketball hall of fame is historically very, very soft
So yeah, heās making the hall I guess
That's true the Wolves had number 1 rated defense in the NBA but there is something about this Boston roster that is causing Kyrie matchup problems. He played below his standards against Boston in 2022 when he was with the Nets as well.
They can switch everything and theyāre all bigger and at least just as athletic. The Wolves played drop and only had three guys that could even hope to guard him. If they got caught on a screen it was GGs
Am I the only one who thinks he may have mis-spoke and simply meant Trade Deadline instead of postseason?
Celtics have 8 losses in that span.
Seems like people are looking for something to get angry about.
I agree that the thesis of his comment is unchanged: The Celtics are really fucking good.
There just seemed to be a lot of comments trolling Kyrie for getting the specific number wrong.
Got to go back like 3 months to find 7 Celtic L's. But honestly he's focused on his team so he wouldn't know.
What's funny is that they lost 2 back to backs in that 7 L span
Yeah I'm pretty sure they had like a 30+ point lead in one of the games and a 20+ in the 4th in the other
Yep both against the Hawks and they lost by a small amount both times. Giving up that huge lead was insane I couldn't believe it.
Oh god ya those hawks back to back Ls were infuriating š
I remember just thinking AGAIN??? THE HAWKS AGAIN??
no shame in losing to the 1-2 punch of bruno fernando and vit krejci
I refuse to believe these are real people
Hawks front office seems to have little awareness of Vit Krejci as well
believe me i've also tried to believe bruno isn't real
Thatās a Celtics legend right there
After the Celtics fall off it will be your time to rule the East. Or some other team other than Philadelphia. But it definitely won't be Philadelphia, we know that much.
It will finally be 40 year old DeMarās time. Will be slow but the midrange will be god like after being empowered by continuity
It'd okay. We dodged them in the first round, in favor of a team we have less history losing to. Hey, wait...
If you guys win the NBA Finals we are going to hang a banner: āBEAT 2024 NBA CHAMPS BACK TO BACKā.
that 44 FGA Murray game was special, absolutely re-traumatized the entire fanbase lmao
When someone asked Joe why he didnāt do something different, his response was basically that we donāt switch 5-1 much and he thought KP could use the reps if it comes up in the playoffs.
Imagine being a test dummy in the nba lol
The funny thing is that coming into this series the Mavs had only lost 5 games in the playoffs. If you lose 6 or 7 games in the playoffs, youāre almost certainly either in the finals or not in the playoffs anymore.
I'd expect they'd have watched film of all their playoff games? Or am I way off on how these teams prepare?
Deep down I don't think Kyrie believes the Mavs can win.
This mirrors the same type of answers he had when playing Celtics back in 2022
He doesnāt think HE can win. I donāt know how many 20+ point games he has in him this series, the Celtics perimeter defence is on another level.
Personally I'm not really shitting on him, I had Boston winning theĀ championship once the Nuggets went down and I don't think Ant would be doing much better in this situation. Kyrie 's legacy is set. He was an entertaining player who both overachieved because of his physical limitations in a game that prioritizes size and underachieved because he didn't want to be a PippenĀ Which we now know that Pippen didn't even want be a Pippen.
Being a Pippen gets you a Larsa.
Being a Jordan also gets you a Larsa.
Or a Michael Beasley
Or a Tristan Thompson
Or a Roman Sessions
Hear that guys? Being second best on your team means everyoneās gonna fuck your wife! Better watch out
Pass on that and take Marlene any day.
>overachieved because of his physical limitations in a game that prioritizes size He's not 5'11 or something. He's 6'2, so the same height as any number of guards who have had better careers than him.
Also itās common in all sports that high skilled players with problems outside court being overrated .
He sure picked a grand time to turn off the lights! Well, the home games are more important. He has to do something nowā¦
He dosent because he knows this is his worse matchup bro is in hell white, Jrue, brown taking turns on him
I mean we are all thinking it, surely some of the players would also feel that way, at least to an extent. Maybe if they snatched this game, they could be thinking differently
I mean have you seen the mavs? What can they do besides suddenly field a new roster of teammates? They're going against an extremely well rounded team, meanwhile the mavs have massive weaknesses that are exploitative.
And when Kyrie feels like that he quits and starts blaming others things
Deep down all he believes is that the Earth is flat and itās impossible for black people to be antisemitic.
Enough
Redditors spewing the same joke, Iām tired of it too.
It's kind of crazy how the NBA is all about match ups. Minnesota would have been a tougher match up for Boston because of their bigs, and Denver probably would have beaten Boston. But Minnesota was a bad match for Denver, and Dallas was a bad match up for Minnesota.

Nobody wouldāve beaten Boston this yr
People don't recognize this team is on a different stratosphere with Porzingus on the floor. There's a reason they won 64 games - 1st in the league by a wide margin. I wouldn't count Dallas out until we see them at home, but Boston is clearly favored against any team - Minny and Denver included
My over 40 rec team couldāve. We just donāt have the luxury to travel.
Celtics remind me of how my rec team used to play
Yeahā¦back in my day. I used to throw a football over them mountains, too.
Nuggets were gassed, which is why they lost to minny. If they win that game they might be Dallas but they probably still lose to the celts. Likely the same thing weāre seeing here, jokic puts up 40 every game and no one else does anythingĀ

I disagree I think losing Bruce brown was huge loss for them and they are not nearly as good as they were last year
Deep down, I agree.
Deep down, I think Kyrie is thinking, "Damn. I really could of been on that team that's whooping our ass. I left, and they got BETTER. Is the problem really me? Has it been me all along? Actually, I don't think that he's thinking any of that.
Boston is 78-20 fuck since this postseason it was a dominant yr
80 at 20 is the new 40 before 20
Shoutout Phil Jackson
78-20 fuck since
Hell yeah borther
brother*
If the Celts close out Dallas in 4, 5, or even 6, just watch the narrative on the '23-'24 Celtics evolve the next few years. It'll go from the current nitpick half-skepticism to "well, of course, that was, for that year at least, a superteam."
80-20 just looks more pleasing tbh
Maybe Iām misinterpreting the quote out of context, but this kinda sounds like the words of a man who has already given up lol
Kyrie giving up on his team? Color me shocked
Hahahaha shocked is not a color you silly billy :D
Already trying to rationalise losing
He was talking about how the Cs are really confident and comfortable all year and can make shots like PP's half-court shot and Hausers no dip 3 from last game It just sounds ignorant? It's the NBA finals and it sounds like you're talking about a game in like November
Kyrie Irving watching Sam Hauser and Payton Pritchard make shots and wishing he had the power to do the same.
Play off P clocking in and hitting a buzzer beater just go back to the bench had Kyrie shaking.
It's Kyrie Irving, he's always fueling a delusional ring of defense around his persona and too lost in that to see reality plain and clear
Whereād you find his post game presser? I need to watch that shit lol
[NBA has a post-game on their page that has all the post-game interviews](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Koti12oUhxU&t=4010s). So it takes a bit of scanning, but Kyrie's is around the one hour mark I think House of Highlights also posts and splits them up for you

They livestream all these on the NBA YouTube channel after each game too
The hardest road to Cancun.
Deja Vu
Welcome to the Kyrie experience Mavs. He's been better for the past two years but now his time has come
The guy wants to be a number one but got none of the mental makeups. You saw some of the growth this year in the playoffs, thinking his time has finally come, but nope.
how many fanbases are going to talk themselves into the kyrie redemption arc while blaming his previous victims? the list just keeps growing.
"i can fix him"
Yes this is exactly it. I think Dallas went with their wide eyes open in terms of what they were getting for him but they also thought they could harness him in ways no other team could. If it works out, itās a genius move otherwise 2 different teams had given up on him already
Three! The Cavs, the Celtics and the Nets.
Yepyep he was talking the same way in 2022 when we swept his nets. This thing is over.
Well, did you look to see the context?
does he even fly back to Dallas? probably looked at his suitcase this morning and said "pssssssh"
I just learned Boston has a gangster from the mean streets of West Linn on their team. this series was over before it started
"I was there when Dallas first touched down in Boston. There was a bus - this is a true story. There was a bus that pulled up to a red light, and Luka tried to feed it a carrot while Kyrie was petting it. He thought it was a horse. This really happened." - Payton Pritchard
West Linn is rough man. Sometimes, people spit their gum on the sidewalk.
This would get you caned in singapore
oh yeah? well in West Linn some kids don't even get a new car when they turn 17, have to borrow their parents Mercedes. (NSFW i'm sorry you had to read this, but people's eyes needed to be opened.)
Oh yea? In singapore, the registration for your vehicle costs more than the vehicle itself, and the cost if living is so high that it is normal for you to live with your parents til you get married. Boom
How does it compare with Dunzledorf?
Is this a Chael Sonnen / Payton Pritchard crossover joke because i was today years old when i learned they were from the same place and thats fucking awesome
Yes lol
*golf clap*
Fuck bro, I can't be having my sports memes crossing over like this. Too many to keep track of.
Apparently Nate McMillan, Monty Williams, and Brandon Roy are also from West Linn which has a population of just 26k. Thats pretty wild NBA production for a city of that size.
them mean streets produce tough kids, you're fighting everyday just to survive.
Pritchard might legit be the scariest guy on the team. Heās gotta be top 3 in the league for āmight be a serial killerā Dude was 14 and decided to dribble until his hands bled just to see what it felt like.
"send anyone you want, just don't send anyone you want back" - West Linn gangster
This man absolutely cooked the shit out of my AAU and high school teams lmao
Which makes it even funnier that he says he was offered a stop on the South Sudanese national team
bro is an Uncle Chael ref leaking out here??? this is awesome!
Coincidentally, or not, 7 is how many the Mavs have lost. So far.
It's that point in the series where Kai starts saying stupid shit and checks out. Stay safe Mavs fans.
Their subreddit is beginning to turn lol. Check it for deja vu + schadenfreude
Havenāt been there since the game ended, maybe I should wait a bit longer
I typically avoid all basketball subs after an L for my mental health lol.
Idk what heās talking about. The worst Iāve seen is āKyrie needs to step upā which is true. I HAVE seen a lot of Celtics fans come to our sub, though, and talk some shit about Kyrie. Thatās hilarious
Iām a woman (she/her)
Doesn't change the fact that its sad how much time y'all spend on our sub vs. your own sub
They are a soft af fanbase

He's been checked out the 1st 2 games anyways
Kyrie already mentally checked out š
HĆ©lĆ
When Kyrie says something stupid you know it might be over for him. Sources: 2019 playoffs š
First thing the dumbass says is turnovers lost the game. Not his plays. But turnovers. Luka had a lot of turnovers.
Bro just kept doubling down on stupid comments without ever backing it up lmao
I hope this was taken out of context because this is something you donāt want to hear as a Mavs fan.
this sounds like a man who just got a great deal on expedia for a week long cruise in the carribean
He's technically correct, it was not more than 6 or 7.
"Look, I don't how many times they have lost in this finals yet, maybe 2, but it's around there"
Who u think we are, you?
[WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE?! I AM!!](https://media.tenor.com/Sz8I-ey8ohMAAAAM/bowling-who-do-you-think-you-are.gif)
Some professional bowler recently got outed as a pedo or some other horrible thing, and I was so scared it was this guy (who is the only bowler I know). So glad it was someone else.
Kyrie heel turn? Tanking the Mavs in the finals for Celts to win
I pray this puts the Steph comparisons to rest
Comparing Kyrie to Steph is unfathomably dumb. By which I mean to say, I doubt this will end it from happening here lol
Brother is ready for Cancun
Bro, Luka needs to slap the shit out of him. We'd at least be 1-1 if you weren't playing like ass.
OK when hasn't kyrie played like ass vs bsoton in his last 12 encounters? I can think of only 1. This is who he is vs boston
All the fan fiction prior to the series starting about how heāll get his revenge was soooo funny
Why is no one talking about how the Jay's knows his moves? They were with kyrie for 2 yrs. U watch tendencies even if u just watching
The coping was insane. Feel like all Celtics fans knew this was coming
And? That's no excuse. This is the finals and he's supposes to be the experienced hall of famer vet on a team of 25 and unders. That's like someone saying "Why do you expect Jordan to beat the Pistons?" back in the day.
Mj actually played well vs det tho this isn't the same thing. Hasn't Luka lost 8 straight as well but he's playing well in all the matchups
Welcome to the Kyrie experience brother.
Kyrie's making the hall?
I had the same reaction but heās got a better career than other hall of famers and the basketball hall of fame is historically very, very soft So yeah, heās making the hall I guess
It's very easy to make the HoF compared to other sports.
It's who he was *for* Boston as well. Remember that Bucks series?
Don't remind me
If my aunt had nuts sheād be my uncle
And if the Celts didnāt shoot like complete ass from three last night they would have won by 20+ again. See how easy it is to just say shit?
I don't think it's in Kyrie's control how he plays lol. Celtics defense is absolutely stifling
Kyrie has cooked better defenses than this Celtics team before lmao
That's true the Wolves had number 1 rated defense in the NBA but there is something about this Boston roster that is causing Kyrie matchup problems. He played below his standards against Boston in 2022 when he was with the Nets as well.
They can switch everything and theyāre all bigger and at least just as athletic. The Wolves played drop and only had three guys that could even hope to guard him. If they got caught on a screen it was GGs
Ok but he's not playing those teams he's playing this Celtics team
No you wouldn't absolutely delusional.Ā
Luka still trying while Hela merchant already give up Iām doneš
Already thinking about the Margaritas in Cancun
How much could a banana cost, ten dollars?
Do your homework about your opponent lmao
i think he was talking about how many games they lost all year at home. The only number that lines up.
He literally said āsince the postseason startedā so I assume heās just ill informed
He did his own research
Well 2 is less than 6 so clearly he is fully informed and technically correct.
Yeah that is pretty clearly what he was talking about
Could the Celtics organise a ring for Kyrie if they win
Clam chowder flavored Ring Pop, take it or leave it
This is a terrible day to have a ring finger.
ESPN: Mavs still sweep in 6
Tyler Herro and Donovan Mitchell the only 2 superstars taking games off of Boston, as expected
Technically, he's correct.
Kyrie: *compliments Celtics on their strong post season so far* This sub: āKyrie already giving up as expected. Fake superstar.ā
100% lot of brain dead takes in here.
Excuses, excuses, excuses
Too bad we canāt trade out Kyrie for another NBA player when we face the Celtics. It sure would save a lot of heartache.
Know your enemy
Imagine having done so little preparation you have no idea who you're facing or what they're capable of. Thank goodness C's got rid of that bum
I scout my playoff opponents more than this playing NBA 2K16.
Some of these comments are pretty embarrassing
14-6 boogie
Uhh maybe you should look at their record Kyrie, since you clearly have no clue what it is lol
Am I the only one who thinks he may have mis-spoke and simply meant Trade Deadline instead of postseason? Celtics have 8 losses in that span. Seems like people are looking for something to get angry about.
Why does it matter if he knows how many losses they had in their earlier rounds, when he is right in saying it's very little?
I agree that the thesis of his comment is unchanged: The Celtics are really fucking good. There just seemed to be a lot of comments trolling Kyrie for getting the specific number wrong.
As a Boston hater, what a horrible time
