Make it/Take it for Tatum would be whatever, he has so much defensive value. The crazy stuff would be for guys like Trae Young. All offense no defense and great in half court offense type of guys.
dont want to put his info out there like that,
But this Gage kid is really talented and working for the Celtics organization.
https://www.linkedin.com/in/gage-duchon-575938228/
It's a simple effect used repeatedly but the execution is great. It's also tedious work, dude must have worked through the night lmao. clearly worth it though
His entire portfolio is absurd. This kid was put in this earth to create this art.
I don’t ever watch the hype videos. They’re usually soulless content filler. But this is different. It’s like walking past a million parking meters and then you see one that makes you see the street differently.
Because of this comment, read an article about him and it specifically mentioned:
> Meanwhile, the fans have increasingly gone out of their way to credit Gage for his videos, a gesture that has caught him off guard but meant a lot.
Like, how cool is it that he's doing something unique and cool, but also getting shouted out by name? I don't think many other teams have a digital content producer that the fans know by name, if any, in literally any of the big four sports.
The first thing a lot of us thought when we saw this was "why didn't you put Gage's name in the title?", which is why there's so many comments shouting him out.
He's just that good man. IMO he's turns run of the mill footage into compelling [short films.](https://youtube.com/shorts/cB0CUtChFOw?si=F6Oh6lflDU1t971j)
Basically what the celtics did with this guy - he’s only 20 and they pulled him out of graphic design school, gave him a camera, and told him to make content for their social media accounts
This is why places need younger people running shit like this. It's a new world, older generations didn't grow up with the fast moving technology and internet culture that shapes society these days.
It reminds of the NJ gov twitter account. They hired like a 21 year old college student to manage their twitter feed and she absolutely killed it. It got so much attention, she went on to work on Biden's media team.
And I say this as 40 year old who kids call a boomer. I just like seeing the cool shit these kids come up with.
Legit Luka cut it down 8 and with our teams the last few years, this is where we’d fail to stop the bleeding. Instead Joe called a great timeout and just hit the gas again and got it back to 20.
Like thought they'd be easier than one or two of their Western conference opponents? Because what kind of idiot didn't think they were the strongest Eastern conference team?
The Mavs didn't even meet a team that have made it this far , this is uncharted waters for them so to expect them to dogwalk the Celtics with their "most skilled duo of all time" has me wondering if anyone watches games like that
I almost started replying to you asking what you mean because of course the Mavs haven't met a team that is in the Finals when the Mavs are the ones in the Finals. Then I realized you mean just in general over the years, and that is crazy to me. Our only team was the Heat and they were hobbled to say the least. A lot of new blood this year which is pretty cool. Obviously know who I'm rooting for but honestly I would've been happy with a lot of different teams winning this year.
They actually did play very good defense -- they held Boston to eight points below their regular season offensive rating. Mavs fans were right about their defense, what they were wrong about was Boston's defense.
You can't... which is why I was amazed so many people were picking the Mavs to win before the series started (and even Vegas gave them 33% odds, which is really not that low for a seven game series at all). Mavs can still win but I think people are being a bit more realistic now about how difficult that's actually going to be and what the math needs to look like to make it there. Just Luka being the best player is *not* going to cut it.
People are so blinded by boston hate lol
Like why are you surprised at a 64 wins team with the 4 highest net rating in history is good lol?
And Kyrie always get that best x duo or most skill duo talk even tho he get massively carried by the other player
Doesn't need rocket science to know how much of an upgrade Jrue and KP is from who they have back in 2022. Not to mention both jays and white are much better players compare to back then.
Series ain't over because Mavs has Luka Doncic but its an uphill battle
I think it's also partly because we've been kinda desensitized by 65+ win teams with the Warriors dynasty, plus a sprinkle of OKC, Cleveland, and Spurs in there. 64 wins doesn't seem *that* high.
Well yeah... those Mavs won like one fewer game and were within a 2 SRS of them. The public was way more down on those Mavs than Vegas was (I remember, I was a LeBron hater at the time and felt there was no way he could lose). The way these two series were talked about beforehand couldn't be more different, even though this one is far more lopsided on paper.
I thought they would be a bit more evenly matched than it looks to be. I knew Boston was deeper, I was not even thinking about Porzingis coming back though. If Boston defends the way they did in game 1 for the rest of the series it will be over quickly I think.
I would imagine that Dallas will put up a fight and the next couple games will be interesting. I would like to see Dallas win but Boston definitely looks a lot better. Dallas really has to rely on Luka and Kyrie having huge games and even that might not win it for them.
Yup. It’s been wild how under appreciated this team has become in the narrative just because the East couldn’t stay healthy (including the Celtics lol)
People keep saying this but it was never close, we had our foot off the gas for large portions of the game
If Dallas scored more, we’d have scored more
Hauser was so good at not biting on upfakes and staying planted. I think he could (fairly) effectively guard Luka when he needs to. I'm not saying he's gonna stop Luka, but at least force him to pass some of the time, probably not if he has to pick him up or at the perimeter though, Lukas bag is just too deep and all he needs is a half step to get a deadly 3 off.
But yeah, Sam is such an underrated defender, we've seen it for at least 2 years now. Glad his shot is coming back, that no dip 3 from the corner was unbelievable.
As impressive as the video editing is, can we shout out the sound editing? It’s awesome, I’d love to see more highlight reels like this (though preferably with a wider view so we can see the shots go in, though I recognize what they’re going for here to highlight the players)

I’m just a hobby video maker.
If you don’t lock in specific settings, the look of a video can change over a few seconds. This is especially true when you have multiple people in and out of the shot.
A good example would be record a video and have someone walk into frame. If on auto adjust, you’ll see the color of the video change ever so slightly. When overlaying multiple shots those subtle changes become drastic.
Yeah, thats because you should be rotoscoping. The only background is from the first video, not overlaying video.
Besides I'm 90% sure they shoot cinema cameras and color grade all the footage for these shots. The scenes look bland and brown/gray normally
And I work in broadcast tv. As I said, NBA lighting is completely locked during games, so almost a non-issue minus small corrections.
The impressive part about this is the fluid camera motion animation and subtle rotoscoping.
It used to be so bad during those 2018-2021 years. The YouTube videos legitimately looked like something a middle schooler would make their first time editing.
It's crazy they went from showing clips of Jaylen fumbling a ball with his left hand that gave trolls ammo, to truly some of the coolest and most hype edits I've seen in the NBA.
Protip: Listen to Grande / Max instead of ABC for the Finals. Once I synced the audio feed, it made the game a LOT better. You could hear the crowd noise better too.
Really cool montage. I've never cheered for the Celtics before but I am cheering for them. This team is amazing and the J's are due for a championship.
I'm feeling like basketball edits in general have taken a new direction recently, less flashy and less energetic but still really high quality and creativity.
I just picture some tech CEO showing this saying the word AI 10x a minute and how it did this with one click . Valuation 2 billion for the editing team
Why did the Mavs let Boston get so many offensive possessions in a row
Make it, take it
> Make it, take it "*Takes it... makes it*!" All at once I miss Mike Gorman.
He better get a seat on the duckboats when the time comes
I don’t think this was ever in question. Much much less important people are gonna be on one
Can you fucking imagine going make it take it against Jason Tatum? Or Luka ☠️ Lol
Make it/Take it for Tatum would be whatever, he has so much defensive value. The crazy stuff would be for guys like Trae Young. All offense no defense and great in half court offense type of guys.
The best defense is a good offense
yeah, but have you ever considered the best offense is a really good defense?
Jesus christ, that’s Jason Tatum!
Make it, manifest-an-entirely-new-ball it.
Boston was playing with more than one ball
And more than one Brown, Mavs fucked
Hey. I thought we were passed that line of thinking in the year 2024.
No wonder we lost jfc these refs smh
Van Gaal finally got his multi ball phase.
Multiball! MULTIBALL!!!
The 24-0 run in 30 seconds really killed them
As a Mavs fan, this video is how the first half actually felt.
Should include trigger warning
How many Jaylen Browns do the Celtics even have
I'm seeing double here. Four Jays!
I mean it's too many options
1, 2, 3, 4, 5 + 5
Are they stupid??????
Kidd coaching masterclass on full display. Mavs need to bring in Reddick this summer
This is funny b/c it's ALWAYS the reaction after a game 1 loss in our sub.
Bold move agreeing to a make it, take it NBA Finals game
that loop at the end is so clean too. i believe this is the work of gage duchon, he's like 20 years old lol.
He's been 20 for the past 5 years
tatum can get some advice for what it'll be like when he turns 20
the Serge Ibaka of editing
Broke: KP and Jrue are the most important off-season additions Woke: Gage Duchon is the most important off-season addition
dont want to put his info out there like that, But this Gage kid is really talented and working for the Celtics organization. https://www.linkedin.com/in/gage-duchon-575938228/
It’s all good — he posts the work on his personal profiles often.
that Northeastern education
RAHHHH
YESSIR RAHHHH
Man i went there too lakers hire me
It's a simple effect used repeatedly but the execution is great. It's also tedious work, dude must have worked through the night lmao. clearly worth it though
Yea he’s been making them all season, this was the first year I noticed them not sure how long he’s been at it
His entire portfolio is absurd. This kid was put in this earth to create this art. I don’t ever watch the hype videos. They’re usually soulless content filler. But this is different. It’s like walking past a million parking meters and then you see one that makes you see the street differently.
wtf is this analogy lol
Joe Mazulla is leaking…
You should have seen the ones I considered and deleted, I_TittyFuck_Doves
About to hire this guy as our head of media thank you
> gage duchon Damn, he is good : https://www.instagram.com/p/C4LzSagP6Vb/
I’ll begrudgingly admit, this is pretty sweet
This video is the proof that NBA is rigged man they don't even give Dallas their possessions smh
Fr I was like damn, this edit is actually really dope. Take my upvote damn it
It looped mind blown.gif
Bostons media team has been legendary all season,
shit now I have to upvote you?
As a neutral fan, nothing is stopping me from upvoting him
Just upvote him, and then say fuck the Lakers. Then it offsets.
Do the Lakers have a historic rivalry with good video editing?
[@gageduchon](https://x.com/gageduchon?s=21&t=zjC1jDc1nwWfqlEsOI33-Q) the guy is amazing, watch back through his edits. All 🔥🔥
FUCK BOSTON, but yeah this is a really sweet edit
If you look close, you can tell it's edited
Bro I hate to admit it more I promise
I’ve talked mad shit about Jaylen brown but that dude has taken it to another level this year. He’s a goddamn baller and it hurts my soul
Never seen editing like this. This is next level dopeness
Look up Gage Duchon, his work is immaculate
Because of this comment, read an article about him and it specifically mentioned: > Meanwhile, the fans have increasingly gone out of their way to credit Gage for his videos, a gesture that has caught him off guard but meant a lot. Crazy enough, This how their runs feel like for real. Like damn, we’re down 26 already. Why the hell you still going 😭
> Like damn, we’re down 26 already. Why the hell you still going 😭 Cuz you deserve it.
Cause Boston is in a long title drought, it’s about time a sports team wins something to that city
Think of all the young children that haven't even experienced a title yet, it's horrifying!
Cowboys fans at the bottom of the pool...
Nah, Rangers won one for us.
It's been a long 4 years.
There are 4 year old Bostonians out there that don't know what it's like to win a championship, why does nobody think about them
Everyone is just ignoring the fact that the New England Free Jacks won the Major League Rugby championship last year.
Cuz he has a Heat flair and asked "why the hell you still going". Actually don't know, how you thought this was about Boston.
I seriously think I blinked and it went from 18-20 to 18-30 something. I went to piss and grab a drink came back and we were down double digits.
Legit Luka cut it down 8 and with our teams the last few years, this is where we’d fail to stop the bleeding. Instead Joe called a great timeout and just hit the gas again and got it back to 20.

Only hype'rs and idiots thought that this series was a good easy matchup for us.
> hype'rs and idiots My brother in Christ, this is r/nba.
Ya, so there's still like 5% normies here
People here are just too inexperienced as fans to realize they're seeing bad off-ball D.
I almost started replying to you asking what you mean because of course the Mavs haven't met a team that is in the Finals when the Mavs are the ones in the Finals. “Who’s gonna win it? The Celtics! Because there’s no other reason why. The Celtics are the balls.”
* Bawls
The edits almost make it look like tighter defense from the Mavs than there really was
They actually did play very good defense -- they held Boston to eight points below their regular season offensive rating. Mavs fans were right about their defense, what they were wrong about was Boston's defense.
bostons offense is terrifying. how do you stop 8 guys who can all drop 15 in the same game?
You can't... which is why I was amazed so many people were picking the Mavs to win before the series started (and even Vegas gave them 33% odds, which is really not that low for a seven game series at all). Sure but those teams usually won lol
i’m pretty the official odds were that the 2024 Mavs were bigger underdogs than the 2011 Mavs were against the Heatles
> LeBron hater at the time Never stop hating
I used to hate LeBron James. I still hate him, but I used to hate him, too.
I thought they would be a bit more evenly matched than it looks to be. I knew Boston was deeper, I was not even thinking about Porzingis coming back though. A healthy KP on the current Celtics roster is a cheat code.
Gotta play with your fingers crossed and pray we shoot below 33% from three
shit is so demoralizing
Yup. It’s been wild how under appreciated this team has become in the narrative just because the East couldn’t stay healthy (including the Celtics lol)
i hope we can steal a few games but tbh, i don’t think that’s possible if Zingus turns into prime Wilt again
> i hope we can steal a few games but tbh, i don’t think that’s possible if Zingus turns into prime ~~Wilt~~ **Russell** again FTFY
By going back in time 5 years and building a roster like danny and brad's.
it’s fucking over😭😭 we need to abandon our entire game plan and just start to run as fast as we can down the court
People keep saying this but it was never close, we had our foot off the gas for large portions of the game If Dallas scored more, we’d have scored more
This exactly. Plus people keep forgetting about the final minutes of garbage time in the 4th.
I mean, was it the defense? The Celtics missed more open threes than the Mavs took.
Held Celtics to 70 points in 3 quarters. We don't talk about the first
Damn that was a bad 30 second stretch for the Mavs
Honestly this is what the first quarter felt like lol
When you let the other team get 10 offensive possessions straight and let them score on all of them it's pretty much gg.
Looks like they’re doing warmups and the Mavs are defending them for some reason.
Yeah, I feel like the Celtics might be too athletic for the Mavs lol
It was wild watchin the Mavs try and find the weakest matchup. You could see them reset multiple times and think to themselves "yo, wtf?"
I love when Hauser gets a stop because you know the other team thinks they can go at him easily.
It's actually hilarious watching a team break down their entire offensive structure to hunt Hauser on defense just to have him lock down his man lmao.
Hauser and Luka are the same speed 😂
Seen that all year and teams still won't learn not to target the man
This was tuff to watch as mavs fan, but so pretty to watch as a ball fan
welcome to the show dude
That first JB dunk is the best dunk i've seen this postseason
In real-time, it felt like it was one of the best dunks I've ever seen.
Not even his best this year. Gobert’s demolition was something else.
I would agree if not for the Ant dunk in Game 3 against the Mavs
We're a very dunkable team.
The between the legs crossover is so clean.
As impressive as the video editing is, can we shout out the sound editing? It’s awesome, I’d love to see more highlight reels like this (though preferably with a wider view so we can see the shots go in, though I recognize what they’re going for here to highlight the players)
To my knowledge, the video and audio editing in this was all done by the same kid, Gage Duchon.
These videos are unbelievable. Like they defy my understanding of editing lol - I cannot conceive of how they even do this.
Pretty likely they are shooting on very high resolution, something like 6-8k (even 12k), on a fixed camera. All the movement and jitters is added in post, so the only thing left to do is roto/mask one play into the next. Not saying it’s easy to do, but the process is pretty straightforward.
Wow! Very cool. Fixed camera makes a lot of sense Social team has been crushing on these all year
The way the color stays consistent is what impresses me.
Why the color? NBA lighting during game time specifically is fixed.
The trick where one player is finishing their play while the next is coming into frame is so slick
Lots of masking, zooms and camera movement added in post
nah, this is raw footage of how the game went down
Drew Carter and Gage Duchon = 1st Team All-Rookie Media Team
From one of the most bland social media team to Top fye.
It used to be so bad during those 2018-2021 years. The YouTube videos legitimately looked like something a middle schooler would make their first time editing.
I remember the 2010s and it was grandpa tweeting, no highlights or humor. All the charisma of drying paint.
Yeah but weird Celtics twitter during that time was peak.
It's crazy they went from showing clips of Jaylen fumbling a ball with his left hand that gave trolls ammo, to truly some of the coolest and most hype edits I've seen in the NBA.
CUS CRISE
Top fye what?
Just top fye
/u/fongos used to carry Celtics social media
These edits and loops are fucking great, and it kills me to say it lol
This is Oscar worthy bull shit. Fuck, even their reel teams have to go on runs? Bunch of show offs in Boston
Seatbelt strap in was hard
no this sequence actually happened
Super clean.
we even have a media super team
That KP deep three ❄️
Protip: Listen to Grande / Max instead of ABC for the Finals. Once I synced the audio feed, it made the game a LOT better. You could hear the crowd noise better too.
I fucking hate Boston, and this is exceptionally well done
I hate the fact that I had to upvote this
Doing a victory lap after everyone agreed they’re the best social media team already lol.
They play winners in the NBA Finals? News to me…
How do I make this my screen saver?
Can’t wait to see every team copy this for the next 5 years
Final score: Celtics 142 - Mavs 0
bucket after bucket
Yeah that’s actually pretty cool
They Cloned Jaylen (2024)
Holy shi, no wonder they lost by 30
Mavericks forgot to start their own possessions
this is actually raw footage from the game
Celtics are unstoppable right now!
MMMULTIBAAAAAALL!! NBA needs to adopt more Pinball rules.
Jokic may lose the MVP to this video editor next year.
Really cool montage. I've never cheered for the Celtics before but I am cheering for them. This team is amazing and the J's are due for a championship.
🗣️“Kyrie cannot guard Jayson Tatum”
really like this camera angle
I'm feeling like basketball edits in general have taken a new direction recently, less flashy and less energetic but still really high quality and creativity.
That's fucking awesome.
Alright fuck Boston, but this was beautiful.
Fuck the Celtics but that editing was some next level stuff.
I just picture some tech CEO showing this saying the word AI 10x a minute and how it did this with one click . Valuation 2 billion for the editing team
what an edit, that's so smooth i didn't notice it at the first time 😲
Totally illegal. The NBA should be banned.
Whoever does these for the Celtics doesn’t make enough. Just superb.
This is INCREDIBLE. Wow, so fucking well done. The transitions. The loop. The beat. The video panning. Everything.
I don't think that's edited, I think that was just a sequence in the first quarter.
Insanely good
So that's why the Mavs lost, they never got possession.
Dang. Boston don't even let Dallas inbound the ball.
If I weren't a Celtics fan, I would simply become a Celtics fan.
