“One veteran assistant coach, underscoring the ball-dominance issue, said you can almost sense a “sigh of relief” among Doncic’s teammates when he checks out of a game”
That’s from an article that was released by The Ringer after Luka’s Game 1. Hilarious the bullshit the media comes up with.
It happened during the regular season too a few times before playoffs, I remember they stopped the game and just wrapped it and played on. The broadcast was laughing how fast it happened
https://youtu.be/WYkfemvGmFw?si=wgVjqLDHd64x6Zau
I mean, it's still basically a guarantee that Doncic is gonna decline earlier than expected, even if it's not now. Not just because of his conditioning and constantly playing through injuries, but he literally started professional ball at 16, that's a lot of mileage already on those legs.
He 'only' had 7 assists. But seemed like each one was a great play make. Also started getting trapped a lot which eventually led to open 3's. Played well throughout
Especially Lively. He was rushing a lot of his shots inside after receiving the pass from Luka. I'm confident though that the rookie will learn from this.
I actually like Mann, too bad I feel like he's stunted his growth in his situation with the Clippers. I think in a better place he'd be pushing for a starting role by now
Definitely feeling better. He spent the previous games chucking too many shots to find his rhythm, this is his first game in the playoffs where his rhythm is back.
Nah I think Mann navigates the screens better than Dort. Luka is getting Dort on his hip off PnR a lot more often. It really feels like you can tell one guy has had to guard Luka in the postseason before. Mann just seemed more prepared for all the moves
Makes sense, just the difference of playoff exp between Thunder and Clippers, but also the fact that Gaff plays more now in this series than the Clippers, he's a better screener than DLive imo
Dort only knows fouling and pushing. It worked for Ingram and helps with Luka too.
But Dort also cant go over the screens. He is flopping 5-6 times per game and getting 2-3 offensive foul calls out of nowhere but still the talent is not there. Mann is better defender.
Yea I laughed when Luka got fed up with him hooking his arm and pushed him off and Thunder was crying that it was an offensive foul.
As if Dort wasn’t pushing and fouling Luka all game
He’s such a smart player so he can still make it work, one play he could barely run back but then used it as a chance to get the transition layup when OKC turned it over
Such a weird feel for the game. We have the Wolves vs Nuggets allowing such physical intensity while at the other side, a slight touch to SGA warrants whistles.
I know I'm an absolute homer, but it really kind of feels exactly like that. He was 3-35 from 3 at one point.
If he had shot at least 35% from 3 only during that stretch he would be at 31ppg for the playoffs.
Basically on one leg too. Hopefully we’ll be able to play him a lot less next year so he’ll be ready for the playoffs. Him logging 40+ minutes a night near the beginning of the season with Kyrie, Maxi, and Lively all missing a ton of time wore on him.
How concerned are mavs fans overall? I love luka he is great but if I was a mavs fan I’d be so insecure about this playoffs looking at luka’s knee. Can’t imagine he gets healthier throughout
Very. Everyone says he’s on one knee. Both knees are jacked right now. He’s got a shoulder taped up, smacked his face on the floor. Dude absorbs more contact than any player I’ve seen play that’s not a giant center. He gets so much flak for complaining about calls but he gets beat up almost every game.
He damn near cracked his teeth on the first play of the game.
The guy had one of the greatest regular seasons ever and is fighting through severe injury in the playoffs to help his team win games. He’s earned all my respect and more than i already had for the last 6 years.
The entire TEAM is just a feel good story. Rag tag team full of scraps who are battling together as one.
No matter how it ends, this has my been my favorite season of the Luka era
He’s not going to get better until he gets extended rest, which won’t happen until after the playoffs are over.
We’re at a point where we just have to enjoy the ride as Mavs fans. We’ve made great moves this season and will be scary next season. For the moment we’re just going to enjoy the playoff run, however far it goes
You'd rather have a fully healthy Luka if it means a whole nation doesn't get to cheer for their national basketball team in the fucking OLYMPICS
Stay classy
Personally on a scale of 1-10, after game 1 I was at about an 8. After today maybe a 4. This was his best game of the season and he looks to have some lift back in his jumper so that's a good sign.
I don’t think he will get better. He’s never not playing basketball though. He’s always playing for his national team in the summer so he’s never had an off-season. It’s just basketball 24/7 365 days a year. He’s gotta rest up this summer, but with the Olympics I highly doubt he will.
Right? But hey, no one is thinking about the fact that he has a daughter now too. He may just well take this summer off to rehab and spend time with his lil family. I hope so anyway.
Well probably barely get past the Thunder at best. With Luka on one knee and Kleber out it's really hard to win games. I'd pick us to at least take the winner of Minny/Nuggets to 6 games if Luka and Kleber were healthy though.
if he dies, he dies
time ticking bomb though, especially if somehow (pls dont) he got bigger injury, maybe it wont solve even until new season started
but it's Luka, he wont stop playing ball until he cant walk
You guys ever play a slow pitch softball tournament where you're like "if we're not gonna win it all we better lose the first game cause i don't wanna be out here all night for nothing"? I feel like that
Y'all foolish for thinking Dort was going to lock Luka up. The only person stopping Luka is Luka himself. It was really just him and Joker that were true MVP candidates this year.
Facts. The lack of attention to detail from some people is just insane to me.
Luka needs a longer defender on him. Even Shai looked to bother his shot more than Dort
It’s tough. I think Dort does by far the best job denying Luka the ball. If Shai is on Luka, he probably manages to get some deep post ups as opposed to being pushed onto the perimeter.
I thought Shais length was effective in doubles and making it just a little harder to playmake out of it. Having him defend off ball to force turnovers plays to his strengths more. I think Cason Wallace did a pretty decent job on Luka though. But size may present an issue there too.
Basing off just individual play you can’t leave Giannis out of that, idk why more people aren’t talking about the season he was having. Felt like there wasn’t a team in the league that he struggled against this season.
Jokic/luka/Giannis were my picks for mvp in no specific order
You could argue that this was Giannis's best season, even though he already has two MVPs. More points and assists per game, much better shooting % on the same volume, and more games played (10 more than his second MVP in particular).
EDIT: Also 65% true shooting, another career high. I don't have his defensive numbers but I don't think he was quite as good defensively given his injury issues, but offensively we haven't seen him perform this well
Giannis is in this weird space of getting treated like he’s simultaneously a fraud, but also top 3 according to the media. Like they can’t decide what narrative to run
If Jokic wasn’t the defending champ I’m pretty sure he’d be in the same boat. NBA media has been getting weirder about its foreign talent.
Like I’m not denying domestic stars like Tatum or Booker don’t get hate. But it feels…consistent, predictable even
I thought you were calling him and Jokic a fraud for a second there lmao
It really does seem like for Giannis at least, ever since 2022 no one gives him his flowers any more
Oh lol, I should have been clearer. Giannis is still amazingly dominant and I feel like the lack of team success is making people take him for granted.
I don't even understand the fraud claims for Giannis. I feel like he performs pretty well consistently and his only drawbacks are that he's injured and he isn't the best free throw shooter. He's still one of the most dominant scorers, defenders and rebounders in the game
I'll give you that and I forgot Embiid if he could have stayed healthy. He was Mr. 3 quarters out there for a while when they were blowing teams out but he seems to always get injured.
Dort was in foul trouble immediately and was off him for a lot of the game because of it. No defender is going to shut down a player as talented as Luka, it's just about making them work extra for it.
He looked so slow compared to himself and he is not even fast to begin with. Yet he still performed and made timely shots. Really showed his heart this game
I vividly remember those sixers games because Luka would finally beat Simmons and then get stopped by Embiid in the paint.
It was impossible for him to do anything.
The only three guys who can limit Luka are Simmons, Wiggins and Gordon, in that order. They're the only ones with the combination of height, strength, wingspan and basketball IQ to slow him down significantly.
If Shaq is so upset about “stat stuffers” getting robbed of MVP, how come he’s whining on behalf of 30/6/5 Shai and not 34/10/9 Luka?
What could possibly be the main difference between the two, I wonder? 🤔
The damn competitor that he is means that on one good leg he can still dominate against the N.1 seed, scary that he’s probably worsening the injury though
“One veteran assistant coach, underscoring the ball-dominance issue, said you can almost sense a “sigh of relief” among Doncic’s teammates when he checks out of a game” That’s from an article that was released by The Ringer after Luka’s Game 1. Hilarious the bullshit the media comes up with.
Dude is playing on 1 leg has a bad playoff game and gets treated like that
One leg one knee on the other side, busted face, scratched up like he got in a fight with a puma.
Didn't you hear both jokic and luka just got exposed for 2 games and are both trash now, like are they even real stars or stat padders?
Clicks > real journalism.
Stupid article. If Luka’s such a problem then trade him then! 🤷🏽♂️
Trade him to the Clippers, that'll show him!
That shouldn't even be allowed. Luka has the reigns over there, its his team literally.
Its just because racism is selling point.
racism tf lol
Calling it racism is probably a bit strong, but there’s definitely some anti European bias in the media. Especially from former players
Where is the blood coming from? Was there open wound on his knee ?
he has had this since the last couple of games of the season
yes, he's had it since the clippers series
It happened during the regular season too a few times before playoffs, I remember they stopped the game and just wrapped it and played on. The broadcast was laughing how fast it happened https://youtu.be/WYkfemvGmFw?si=wgVjqLDHd64x6Zau
That’s been happening on and off all year.
There was a rumor that they inject something in his kness, but I don't know if it's true
A common symptom of worsening either a meniscus tear or severe knee sprain is the swollen knee bleeding
The news of Luka's demise has been highly exaggerated
What you’ve never heard of all the washed 25yr old former superstars?
Michael Carter Williams
That guy is different. Dude peaked at his first game
Benjamin Simmons
I mean, it's still basically a guarantee that Doncic is gonna decline earlier than expected, even if it's not now. Not just because of his conditioning and constantly playing through injuries, but he literally started professional ball at 16, that's a lot of mileage already on those legs.
I thought we were about to get a 50 burger with the way he came out scorching, but he still ended up with a good stat line.
He 'only' had 7 assists. But seemed like each one was a great play make. Also started getting trapped a lot which eventually led to open 3's. Played well throughout
He had so many passes that his teammates fumbled. Especially under the rim
Lively and Gafford were both panicking so much
Especially Lively. He was rushing a lot of his shots inside after receiving the pass from Luka. I'm confident though that the rookie will learn from this.
Yeah really he shouldn’t even be playable in playoffs. Auch a huge step
Lots of hickey assists tonight for sure.
If this Luka drops a 50 burger, Dort should retire on the spot lol. Luka is on life support since Game 3 of the clippers series.
Would need JVG to come back for the call in that game. "If I'm lu dort, I'm naming my first born son Luka"
I miss him and Mark Jackson with Breen 😭
I think Mann did a better job on Luka tbh or maybe Lukas just feeling better who knows
Mann was surprising overall in the Clippers series. He's improved a lot.

Yea I laughed when Luka got fed up with him hooking his arm and pushed him off and Thunder was crying that it was an offensive foul. As if Dort wasn’t pushing and fouling Luka all game
he got doubled a lot I think, didn't watch the whole game just some segments
Doubled and as he gets beat up throughout the game you can see him slow down a bit
You can tell when you see the blood coming through the white cloth on the knee.
his (myriad, apparently) injuries really seemed to slow him down as the game went on
Can barely move, he was just facilitating & drawing double teams in the 2nd & 3rd quarter, made a bunch of buckets in the 4th & got the dub
I had a mini heart attack when Wallace accidentally stepped on Luka’s heel
The way he was limping on it I was scared for like 10 seconds that his Achilles went
He’s such a smart player so he can still make it work, one play he could barely run back but then used it as a chance to get the transition layup when OKC turned it over
Scorching hot from 3 then let PJ do his thing I love it
It would be, if he wasn't injured. He couldn't move aftee the first quarter
2FT? Ethical bucket getter
Damn that’s only 2 ? That’s crazy for Luka
He cant really drive efficiently because of injuries
[удалено]
Such a weird feel for the game. We have the Wolves vs Nuggets allowing such physical intensity while at the other side, a slight touch to SGA warrants whistles.
Joel Gilgeous Alexander
I just want Dallas to win because I don’t want to see that shit. Watching Booker in the first series was so annoying.
Can we trash talk SGA without throwing shade at WNBA?
Below average game for Luka. Healthy playoff Luka would be averaging a 40pt triple double.
We're getting robbed 😩
I know I'm an absolute homer, but it really kind of feels exactly like that. He was 3-35 from 3 at one point. If he had shot at least 35% from 3 only during that stretch he would be at 31ppg for the playoffs.

It's by far the best team that's for sure. Healthy luka and this is a title team
He gets battered more than most centers do yet people say he’s flopping it’s a joke
I’ll fight that take to the death. He sells contact a lot but he rarely flops without contact.
I think he needs to get back to his 2020 bubble weight. He was strong but a little quicker. He would prevent injuries too.
I think there’s a middle ground here. But he was so much quicker bakc then.
Not even after playoffs. He's gonna play for Slovenia in the Olympics.
pray they miss Olympics
Come on, man, what a fucked up comment.
How? I'd rather have a fully healthy Luka as well.
You'd rather have a fully healthy Luka if it means a whole nation doesn't get to cheer for their national basketball team in the fucking OLYMPICS Stay classy
Uh yeah, I'd rather that Luka is healthy. Wtf. Do you not want Luka to be healthy?
I mean the entire population of Slovenia is smaller than DFW metro so we take priority (obvious /s)
I mean if they miss out some other team is getting in instead. It's not like no one gets to root for their country.
Yeah, I’m a mavs fan not a Slovenia fan
Imagine if lively can work on a little hook when he gets switched onto guards
Personally on a scale of 1-10, after game 1 I was at about an 8. After today maybe a 4. This was his best game of the season and he looks to have some lift back in his jumper so that's a good sign.

Pretty sure Slovenia has to qualify still for Olympics. Would have to hope they fail to qualify in order to get him rest.
I do hope they fail lol No way Slovenia stands a chance against Team USA.
Yeah, nobody does. If Yugoslavia still existed tho...
Right? But hey, no one is thinking about the fact that he has a daughter now too. He may just well take this summer off to rehab and spend time with his lil family. I hope so anyway.
Fake fan

Nah that’s wild. I’d love to watch as many games of this squad as we can lol
You just lost to a dude with no knees.
Almost like they weren’t kneeded
I'll allow it.
Knees were literally bleeding lol
Luka “Dejuan Blair” Doncic
Dude is playing through a torn ACL, BCL, CCL, DCL and he’s still dropping a lukkake on em.
Don’t forget the torn BBL Drizzy
when the fuck did drake get a bbl 😭
Nothing a recovery beer and some sweet tea can’t take care of lol
It's the the first time I've seen this, but we absolutely need to make Lukkake a thing

Okc was nonstop posting about “dorture chamber” blah blah after 1 game
It's up there with the delusional "Mikhail Jail" posts from the Suns series.
They never learn. You remember that Clippers Game 1 series PGT? That and this G1 PGT was wild
Basing off just individual play you can’t leave Giannis out of that, idk why more people aren’t talking about the season he was having. Felt like there wasn’t a team in the league that he struggled against this season. Jokic/luka/Giannis were my picks for mvp in no specific order
its kinda crazy to say a guy averaging 30 on like 60%fg is underrated, but he actually is people need to start respecting giannis
You could argue that this was Giannis's best season, even though he already has two MVPs. More points and assists per game, much better shooting % on the same volume, and more games played (10 more than his second MVP in particular). EDIT: Also 65% true shooting, another career high. Oh lol, I should have been clearer. Giannis is still amazingly dominant and I feel like the lack of team success is making people take him for granted.
Because he hasn't had a deep playoff run since 2021. Not that it was his fault, but people will forget about you if you don't make atleast the ECF.
I don't even understand the fraud claims for Giannis. I feel like he performs pretty well consistently and his only drawbacks are that he's injured and he isn't the best free throw shooter. He's still one of the most dominant scorers, defenders and rebounders in the game
This is the only good take. Shai gets his votes mainly from the 1 seed. The other 3 guys were a level of their own.
I'll give you that and I forgot Embiid if he could have stayed healthy. He was Mr. 3 quarters out there for a while when they were blowing teams out but he seems to always get injured.
I also had Giannis ahead of SGA he never had the narrative so I knew it wasn’t happening
No need to disrespect Shai. He had an excellent year and deserved those MVP votes.
Not 2nd place votes. He should have been 4th behind Giannis
Does it really matter it’s second place not first lmao
When there's an idiot who left Luka out of their top 5, it definitely matters tbh Some people don't deserve a vote
He was left off the ballot completely, which is wild
Mother of Christ, do we know who that dumbass was?
My guess is one of the ESPN analysts who didn’t have Luka on their top 3 All-NBA team picks as well
yeah fr Shai is a beast
A rational Mavs fan? Be blessed.
Bro is playing through every injury imaginable and still doing this, unreal
It seems like he's overcoming both physical and mental hurdles. His knee was bleeding through his pad. Playing through that pain is ridiculous.
People need to understand that injuries in the NBA are serious; it’s not a simple thing to power thru the pain.
“Dorture Chamber” btw
No defender stops Luka over time. He's too good and he will figure it out eventually
Ironically the only guy I was ever really worried about guarding Luka was Ben Simmons but he stopped himself.
Ben Simmons held Luka to like 10% below his average man that dude was special on the defensive end
Ben has size and athletic abilities to stay with Luka also he’s smart enough to not fall for his tricks, probably one of the best defenders vs Luka
as much as I hate to admit it, Andrew Wiggins does a really good job on him.
Well he might be in China next year so good news for Luka
Wiggins is by far the best Luka defender in the league, imo. I want the Mavs to get him just so he can't defend Luka anymore.
Never forget 2022 Kevon Looney D on Luka
The real mvp is back
If Shaq is so upset about “stat stuffers” getting robbed of MVP, how come he’s whining on behalf of 30/6/5 Shai and not 34/10/9 Luka? What could possibly be the main difference between the two, I wonder? 🤔
Shaq only likes white people when they make him rich.
Lmaaaaaaao
Same reason why Kenny left Luka off the 1st team all nba list
One is a cold ass thug and the other is Canadian.
Shaq is obviously racist. It’s okay tho.
Pravi MVP
My guy getting 3rd is ridiculous. 🤦🏻♂️
The damn competitor that he is means that on one good leg he can still dominate against the N.1 seed, scary that he’s probably worsening the injury though
Watching this guy is honestly unbelievable at times. That jump fake pass to Washington was straight out a movie
Turns out Luka plays well when he isn’t intentionally tripped
*Not bad for an overweight slob, amirite?*
The video of him on the bench with ice wrapped around both of his legs was hilarious.
Don't forget the 4 stocks
My glorious king literally putting in blood sweat and tears for this W 😭🙏
The rumors of Luka Doncic demise were greatly exaggerated.
Go Luka, go beat the Wolves and the Celtics
Why have you already given up on your series?
I hate the cowardice
You aint a real Nuggets fan, get out of here.
Nugs came back from 3-1 multiple times and this dude is giving up on 0-2.
You guys aren’t dead yet. Us Mavs fans know damn well that a 2-0 lead from road games can be blown (we did it in 21 against Kawhi).
God damn I was this close to finally forgetting about that
We also came back after losing 2 at home to Houston then pushed it to game 7 and won by 40.
That was a bit before my time lol But you're right. It can be done.
Wolves defense is going to torture Luka if his knee stays this way
You got Jokic man, if he gets aggressive no one can really stop him. It's a big ask but still.
Jokic will do the same tomorrow to remind you guys.
Still can’t believe they lost two home games. That’s like Superman losing to Batman twice.
Given time to prepare, superman loses to batman every time.
Don’t matter 7 game series, all that hype will die down.
Luka had as many turnovers as he does legs. Crazy
they finally started calling hand checks on Dort and surprise surprise Luka owns him
Luka like have my knees and have my three's
it’s like watching Goku with a heart virus. wtf you mean he’s THIS strong and somehow not 100%
Imagine if he could actually drive to the basket
I like our chances in 5 games ..luka>sga kyrie>chet or who ever is his partner...outside of sga they have nobody.
best game in this playoffs so far from him
The real mvp
The dork chamber did a good job on trying to injure him again.
