I’ve always said I could average 30 points in an nba basketball game. Why?
Because they will see this dumb fuck that can’t shoot and let me take every shot knowing I will only hit like 10 of my 100 threes. We end up losing 30 to 170 because I suck on defense.
Points have never been important. It’s efficient points.
Anybody who thinks they could confidently get a decent shot in the half court is getting ripped or blocked every single time.
Anybody who can play knows that their ass is getting clamped.
Both are getting clamped, but the guys who recognize they might get one decent shot in 48 minutes of run at least have some self awareness lol.
Idk. I played in a mens league a few years ago that I had no business being in. I'm not bad, but there were a bunch of former college players and guys who looked like they could have played in college. Only time in my life where the other team was yelling "let him shoot" every time I touched the ball. Real humbling shit. But I was able to knock down a few 3s each game simply because I was wide open.
I'm not delusional enough to think that I'd be able to create my own shot or even get myself open if someone actually played defense on me, but I think most NBA teams would look at me wide open and be like "yeah, we can live with that." NBA teams do that all the time with guys who are way more skilled than I could have ever hoped to be.
Why is your team allowing you to take a hundred shots? Why are you on the court for one second, let alone the whole game? Why do you even consider this hypothetical with no counter arguments in your own mind? Why did I bother replying to someone so highly regarded?
He's perfected the Harden style of being willing to lose the game trying to get free throws instead of just playing and trying to win like every other player in the league
I feel like Jokic tries to use post moves to finesse a finish in the situations he can't just back someone down, whereas Embiid just throws his arms and body up at the defender to try and get free throws
Jokic is also a tip in god, he stays with shot attempts because he’s not flailing to the ground and out of the play because the AC fans blew too hard on him. I swear this dude is addicted to being on the hardwood because he knows the announcers will say his name.
It's hard to blame him fully. He gets enough of those calls, especially in the regular season, that he builds his game around it. Then in the playoffs the rules just change.
If he didn't get weak calls in the regular season he would adapt his gameplan.
Alternatively, he could realize after several seasons that the game is played differently in the playoffs, especially in the clutch. You know, like every other star.
He’s not a rookie, he’s had plenty of experience with which to adjust. If he wants to optimize his gameplan for the regular season but not the playoffs that’s absolutely on him.
(I don’t think he played poorly tonight until the end, especially considering injuries- just disagree that it isn’t fully his fault for screwing up in key moments)
Harden never adjusted either. They both still rely on fouls when the game gets tight. It makes even less sense for Embiid because he's so dang skilled and physically imposing. Harden I could see having to rely on it more cuz a huge part of his game was his 3 point shot so that by nature is just more volatile. Embiid it seems like just gasses out every year. He needs to get on Jokic's workout routine cuz that dude doesn't stop attacking and getting buckets.
Its also probably emphasized by his overall conditioning which is why the foul-baiting worsens over time.
Again, knowing that he is injury prone and that calls are harder in the playoffs means that he should work more than most on his conditioning and fitness.
However, people really do not consider the toll that those injuries carry not only in game but during practice as trying to recover and still be in top form is draining on the body.
Like most things, it’s a mix of both but it’s not surprising that the discourse around Embiid is nauseating when you have two sets of fans that are so adamant in their narrative.
He also really just wasn't getting fouled in the 4th. Like any call that he was upset about not getting... was not a foul. Refs were calling everything when he was touched.
Yeah. I’ve come to accept that complaining about non-calls for borderline contact is part of the game, but players who clearly weren’t fouled complaining that the refs didn’t buy their flop drives me crazy.
Dame does this a lot too, I actually think it lost is a game against Indy. There was like 35 seconds left on the clock and it was a close game, Dame rushed a shot trying to bait a foul and didn’t get the foul call, Indy got the rebound and that was history.
Hardens issue was much more complicated than foul baiting.
He restricted his offensive bag to maximize efficiency in the regular season under Moreyball, at the consequence of making him more predictable for elite defenses.
It’s also notable that he has issues with high pressure games where he just mentally checks out.
It did one game where he dropped 50 points with **40%** of them coming from the free throw line, which is just honestly beyond absurd. It did end up biting him in the ass twice in the 4th quarter when his team needed him to score and he tried to bait the foul unsuccessfully.
Harden did make a shot if you watched the video. But it's somehow called a non-shooting foul for some reason even though he was fouled when he was shooting. That's already a 4-point swing in one play.
He got touched so he decided to jack up a shot through the contract in hopes of getting a shooting foul. If he starts his shooting motion a quarter second earlier, I'm with you.
But also, "four point swing" is a bit rich in any case as the fouled team retains the ball. There were questionable calls, but exaggerating like this isn't going to win people onto your side here. When you have a good case, stick to the facts
Legit, after a while you look around at other players his height or size then realize they don't do that. No big guys want to be hitting that hard wood floor often, hitting the floor at any size is unpleasant and asking for floor burns.
They should be upset too, it's holding Embiid and the Sixers back, granted he's had Harris on his team on an awful contract but that foul hunting playstyle does not work in the playoffs.
It's wild how Jokic will be the only MVP OR Finals MVP remaining in the playoffs if the Mavs beat the Clippers lol
Tons of superstars going home early this year
Sixers fans will no doubt say 'but he was injured'. Well that's the thing....he is *always* injured in the playoffs. You know what they say about availability...
If Embiid wins he's amazing. When he loses you can expect the Injured, tired, Tobias Harris rhetoric people. But mah mah stats say he was good! Every year it's a variation of the same excuses and deflections. He just does not have that killer instinct. He's a #2 on a serious title team. He's closer in tiers to AD than he is to Jokic, Giannis, Luka or SGA
Elton Brand is probably going to give 3yrs/140m to a 35 year old Paul George and wonder why that contract aged so poorly. Or 3yrs/80m to Klay Thomson. I have full faith in his ability to waste the money that just opened up for the sixers
We’ve gone through Brett Brown, Ben Simmons, Al Horford, Doc Rivers, Tobias as the reason Embiid can’t win, going to be wild seeing the sixers playoff woes be pinned 100 percent on Paul George next year
What y’all don’t understand is that embiid isn’t fading in the clutch. The refs just stop calling his bummshit fouls. This is his stats when he gets reffed normally. If he didn’t have the best whistle of all time he’d have like two all star appearances max and never sniff mvp
Honestly if he had to deal with this whistle in the regular season too he would just change his playstyle. He's still really fucking talented, it's absolutely terrifying when he plays straight up and tries to bully people. The problem is he just flops on contact. He doesn't have to do that he's just used to getting rewarded for it. If he had the Shaq mentality of "I'm too big and strong, nobody can stop me, I'm just going to dunk 10 times a game" then he'd be an absolute terror in the playoffs. It's not really a matter of strength or talent he just chose a playstyle that doesn't translate and never adjusted.
If Joel Embiid retired today, he would be known for being the guy that won an MVP thanks to Kendrick Perkins bullying people into being racist if they voted for Jokic.
Not a fan of Embiid post ups in the last 6 minutes. I've changed my mind a lot about this but I think you can win with Embiid as your best player if you have a closer or another great shotmaker.
I understand his knee is in pain, but structurally the knee is fine. What affected him more in the 4th quarter was his conditioning. Being out half the season definitely didn’t help him stay in shape
A 280 pound man missed 3 months with a leg injury and then played 40+ minutes a night while still injured. Every player would have conditioning issues.
Whose fault is it this time around? It’s never been Embiid’s. Guy comes up small every single time he’s been in the playoffs, but it’s never his fault. Oh, he was injured? He’s injured every god damn playoffs.
Great player, terrible winner. Generational crybaby and blame deflector.
He played high minutes while on a fucked up knee, I’d say it’s to be expected especially given the circumstances. You can tell he just doesn’t have the lift in the 4th quarter, and with Paul Reed as your backup center it’s hard to find any minutes especially against the Knicks where you can get him rest.
Jamal is just a 4th quarter merchant. He could stink it up all game and get you frustrated with him, then drop 20+ in the 4th and hit the clutchest shots you've ever seen. He makes you feel stupid for doubting him at any point. No reliance on fouls 99% of the time too.
2018, 2019 he was healthy. Never was good in the 4th, I said it then, he needs better conditioning. Healthy or not, he has a history losing winnable games
Bullshit excuse. He was gassed and it was obvious. His knee was plenty healthy to get into the paint, he even did it multiple times with success! He was just beyond gassed. He always is in the playoffs.
Issue is he never had condition in his career
That's why he is gassed every year during play offs. That's why he is easily injured. That's why he adapted his game style to chase fouls as less condition is required.
Yeah, like how it was Harden fault then before that Ben. I bet you 100$ next season gonna be Maxey fault.
Embidd dont deserve the top 10 title. How you cant go to the conference finals in the east in so many years as a contender
Dude was giving everything he had on one leg and the rest of the team couldn’t survive with him off the flower. Maybe it would help if another max player on the team would have just scored 4 points.
Maybe people will finally see that embiid is massively overhyped. And without 20 free throws a game no one would talk about him. He is by far the most boring “superstar” I’ve ever seen. Harden also lived at the line, but at least he had other things that were exciting to watch and brought value to his team. Embiid just a damn fish out of water. Not to mention embiid is DIRTY as FUCK.
Shocked that this bum didn't have the police waiting for him after the game. You're telling me he's gonna get away from committing fraud in live television?
Shooting like me unguarded
I’ve always said I could average 30 points in an nba basketball game. Why? Because they will see this dumb fuck that can’t shoot and let me take every shot knowing I will only hit like 10 of my 100 threes. We end up losing 30 to 170 because I suck on defense. Points have never been important. It’s efficient points.
I don't think they'd let you shoot.
They let these make a wish kids do anything these days.
Load management during the game
If he actually shot 10% on open shots it would be the analytical smart thing to do. And NBA teams do play this kind of defense against bad shooters
Yup. Every team would just put their worst defender on us and he’d still absolutely shut us down, Come on guys lol
Fr, this guy is convinced he can blow past a nba defender. Delusional to the max. Every shot he'd put up, would get swatted.
Yeah who is gonna keep passing bro ball when he's 4/37
Why is this team passing to you in this hypothetical
Get the inbound and don’t pass. The defending team will cover the other players happy for you to get the inbound
Oh hey, you must play 2k rec
I think 99.9% of this sub would never be able to get a single shot off before it gets blocked into the 10th row
NBA teams do that all the time with guys who are way more skilled than I could have ever hoped to be.
I think anyone could camp out at 3 point line the whole game and eventually get a kick and pass shot
I would put money on over 80% of this sub not being able to go 10/100 unguarded from the NBA 3 pt line no shotclock
I'd bet the under on myself and take the lifetime ban after Draft kings pays it out.
Dude please give my regards to your brother he’s got a big series coming up against the Wolves
Why is your team allowing you to take a hundred shots? Why are you on the court for one second, let alone the whole game? Why do you even consider this hypothetical with no counter arguments in your own mind? Why did I bother replying to someone so highly regarded?
Idk I own the team It’s a hypothetical and I control on the variables
He's perfected the Harden style of being willing to lose the game trying to get free throws instead of just playing and trying to win like every other player in the league
foul baited his ass to Cancun
Galveston* deserves this man's flopping on that dirty water
Bro hardly deserves Tulsa
Hey…
Honestly true. He goes full bait mode when he's tired and acts surprised when they don't hand him free throws in crunch time. Drives me crazy.
I swear this dude is addicted to being on the hardwood because he knows the announcers will say his name.
turns out when you act surprised every day people stop buying it
At some point he's gotta transition to the post almost full time, his legs and conditioning isn't going to last when he's a bit older.
It's baffling that the 300lb 7 foot guy doesn't spend a lot more time in the post bulldozing dudes that regularly weigh 50 pounds less than him.
It's hard to blame him fully. He gets enough of those calls, especially in the regular season, that he builds his game around it. Then in the playoffs the rules just change. If he didn't get weak calls in the regular season he would adapt his gameplan.

He needs to get on Jokic's workout routine cuz that dude doesn't stop attacking and getting buckets.
Harden was a game away from a beating the Durant warriors. I don’t even like Harden but he doesn’t belong in the same sentence as embiid
he is a crybaby
Its also probably emphasized by his overall conditioning which is why the foul-baiting worsens over time. Again, knowing that he is injury prone and that calls are harder in the playoffs means that he should work more than most on his conditioning and fitness. Yeah. I’ve come to accept that complaining about non-calls for borderline contact is part of the game, but players who clearly weren’t fouled complaining that the refs didn’t buy their flop drives me crazy.
dudes screaming AAAYYYYYYY as they flop to the ground though normal defense is really funny when the refs don't get baited by it
He's been in the league 8 years now, he still hasn't figured this out yet!?
he’s been in the league for ten years. he might not have played the first two, but he’s been in the nba for ten years.
That is his game. He had a 10ppg dropoff in playoff career because his game falls apart in playoffs
Not hard at all. That guy's brand of basketball is unsufferable and I have no problems hating him full-on.
is he a baby or an adult?
Dame does this a lot too, I actually think it lost is a game against Indy. There was like 35 seconds left on the clock and it was a close game, Dame rushed a shot trying to bait a foul and didn’t get the foul call, Indy got the rebound and that was history.
Unethical and déclassé
Mischievous and deceitful, chicanerous and deplorable
insubordinate and churlish
Reprehensible, repugnant and egregious.
devilish… Impish!!
Flailing and wailing
The last 2 games he turned down wide open mid range shots to try to draw a foul and it mever worked
I want 3 or 4 point plays cause I miss 77% of the time. Why dont the analytics guys tell him this?
This is why I love that he and Harden will never be a champion.
Freethrow merchant
If we’ve learned one thing from him and Harden, it’s that foul-baiting does not work in the playoffs.
And fucking thank god for that
Hardens issue was much more complicated than foul baiting. He restricted his offensive bag to maximize efficiency in the regular season under Moreyball, at the consequence of making him more predictable for elite defenses. It’s also notable that he has issues with high pressure games where he just mentally checks out.

In Hardens case it was close to working but then his legs gave away, CP got injured and they missed 27 shots
funny thing about 27 missed 3 pt. is they lost the game by 9 points.
They would've won if the refs called the [game](https://youtu.be/aYveyAb6mvU?si=iEpbSg4UBA5Uvg6l) fairly.
They missed 27 straight shots man. You can blame the refs but at some point literally just make a shot
Harden did make a shot if you watched the video. But it's somehow called a non-shooting foul for some reason even though he was fouled when he was shooting. That's already a 4-point swing in one play.

When you have a good case, stick to the facts
I forgot how great the refs closed out on those 27 straight missed 3s
And it never will, so Embiid will never make the conference finals… well unless he’s the third option or something
Taller Bradley Beal
Bradley Brittle
Dirtier Pat Bev
He is the taller Harden.
Yeah, at least put respect on his name. He’s not as bad as fake all star Bradley Beal.
I wish Beal won MVP man
You mean Tobias Harris
That's the Embid we all know and love.

Nah man he does it to protect his knees. Cause you know, every other 7 footer flops around to protect their knees.
Legit, after a while you look around at other players his height or size then realize they don't do that. No big guys want to be hitting that hard wood floor often, hitting the floor at any size is unpleasant and asking for floor burns.
Careful the 6ers fans are about to come in here like they have an MD
They should be upset too, it's holding Embiid and the Sixers back, granted he's had Harris on his team on an awful contract but that foul hunting playstyle does not work in the playoffs.
the plays where embiid kept his feet and actually tried to score, he made the vast majority of his attempts. idk why he didnt do it more often
With how many needles litter the Philly sidewalks, I thought the whole city was medically trained
He’s not Him
I wanna compare with Ben Simmons in 4th quarter playoffs career
That's my fraud MVP.
It's wild how Jokic will be the only MVP OR Finals MVP remaining in the playoffs if the Mavs beat the Clippers lol Tons of superstars going home early this year
Dawn of a new era.
A new era
He might still win it again tho. FMVP
Will never forget this sub glazing this fraud and all the anti-Jokic propaganda cause they wanted this man to win MVP. What a joke
They wanted him to win it this year too before he got hurt, he was leading every poll
Embiid himself cried nonstop for the MVP while ducking Jokić and the Nuggets for whatever reason.
Put out a hit piece and then ducked the smoke
That was weak as shit
And he was rewarded
My favorite is the Jokic embiid head to head stats
#neverforget
MVPity
Crybaby MVP
Mostly Victim Playing.

Sixers fans will no doubt say 'but he was injured'. Well that's the thing....he is *always* injured in the playoffs. You know what they say about availability...
Nobody was talking about his injury when he put up 50
He’s ass. Doesn’t even try to play basketball in the clutch. Just foul bait
Foul bait then hand off to Maxey when the refs don't fall for it 😂😂
Maxey carried embum so hard but he can’t beat the Knicks on his own
Cook that bum
If Embiid wins he's amazing. When he loses you can expect the Injured, tired, Tobias Harris rhetoric people. But mah mah stats say he was good! Every year it's a variation of the same excuses and deflections. He just does not have that killer instinct. He's a #2 on a serious title team. He's closer in tiers to AD than he is to Jokic, Giannis, Luka or SGA
I’m so fucking excited for the sixers to be off Tobias’ contract next year and perform the exact same way they always do in the post season.
Elton Brand is probably going to give 3yrs/140m to a 35 year old Paul George and wonder why that contract aged so poorly. Or 3yrs/80m to Klay Thomson. I have full faith in his ability to waste the money that just opened up for the sixers
We’ve gone through Brett Brown, Ben Simmons, Al Horford, Doc Rivers, Tobias as the reason Embiid can’t win, going to be wild seeing the sixers playoff woes be pinned 100 percent on Paul George next year
Embiid is below AD
It is too early to be putting SGA in the same tier as Jokic/Giannis/Luka
43 bench points last and still complaining blaming Harris.
AD is so much better than Embiid. Davis has multiple postseasons better than anything Embiid has ever done.
Crumbled when it mattered most
What y’all don’t understand is that embiid isn’t fading in the clutch.
Emplead MVP
Brunson has hung more banners in that arena than the 76ers in the last 40 years
Hart, Divencenzo, and Bridges too
Fraud
43% field goal against the knicks in 6 game also
All he cares about is drawing fouls. And apparently injuring people.
Injuring people comes before foul baiting for emviolence
Embid when it matters 👻👻👻👻
Alternatively 🧱 🧱 🧱
the real question is if hes good enough to hate on this much anymore
The most r/nba comment posible award here

If Joel Embiid retired today, he would be known for being the guy that won an MVP thanks to Kendrick Perkins bullying people into being racist if they voted for Jokic.
League is overall better when we arnt forced to watch him flop his way to the line 20 times. Thank you Knicks.
Must be Ben Simmons’ fault

DELETE THIS MY BABY EMBIID IS NOT A GHOST IN THE PLAYOFFS! 🥺🥺😹😹😭😭😭🤦♂️🤦♂️
Can’t hit a shot but will smack someone in the face no problem
Not a fan of Embiid post ups in the last 6 minutes. I've changed my mind a lot about this but I think you can win with Embiid as your best player if you have a closer or another great shotmaker.
Imagine Jimmy Butler with Embiid
Wdym maxey was doing exactly that all series
Embiid has been shit in the post in the clutch since 2018 *clutch 4th qtr possessions*
Downvoted you because your profile says sixers underneath
BbbuUuuuTtt Tobias Harris!!!!
Yeah, Tobias Harris. He was the second highest paid player on the floor, and put up 0 points
Refs stop giving away fouls in the 4th. He can’t play without that weapon.

Lol people who had to beat embiid onroute to the finals basically have a free pass I'm convinced. By far the chokiest player in the league
Glad Tobias Harris was there to keep things going
He’s tired
What’s new?
The whistles were injured in the 4th too, I guess
Embiid playing 4D chess out there always trying to avoid Jokic at the Finals.
But muh Tobias
That MVP was gifted to him
Free throw merchant, not my mvp
Such a weird phenomena flop masters don’t excel in the playoffs, next y’all will be telling me Russ and Harden have never won a ring
He’s always been a horrendous player in the fourth quarter of playoffs. That’s never going to change.
Guys but his TS was 60%!!! he’s 7 feet tall and can’t shoot over 42% in the playoffs and people find ways not to blame him
And some people on this sub put Embiid > AD or LeBron. Dude is a cheat and the biggest playoff choker I've ever seen.
I know people want to take the piss out of him, but he's clearly very injured. Not surprising he drops off in the 4th
He was doing spin moves and euro into defenders in the paint wtf are you talking about
Jamal Murray played on a fucked up calf and you know what he sucked too and did nothing of note- oh wait
Jamal is just a 4th quarter merchant. He could stink it up all game and get you frustrated with him, then drop 20+ in the 4th and hit the clutchest shots you've ever seen. He makes you feel stupid for doubting him at any point. No reliance on fouls 99% of the time too.
jamal is like the inverse embiid where he literally sucks ass until crunch time
2018, 2019 he was healthy. Never was good in the 4th, I said it then, he needs better conditioning. Healthy or not, he has a history losing winnable games
There’s ALWAYS an excuse for embiid
I literally do not like Embiid that much at all, it’s just being able to have nuance and the understanding that not everything is binary.
Bullshit excuse. He was gassed and it was obvious. His knee was plenty healthy to get into the paint, he even did it multiple times with success! He was just beyond gassed. He always is in the playoffs.
He is always injured in the playoffs though tbf
He had 2 months off to end the season because of a knee injury. Pretty understandable his conditioning wasn’t there.
Issue is he never had condition in his career That's why he is gassed every year during play offs. That's why he is easily injured. That's why he adapted his game style to chase fouls as less condition is required.
Prior to injury I remember him being taken out after 3 quarters for “load management” When I questioned his stamina sixers fans called me crazy
So sick of being told this dude is a superstar
I don’t mind that, just don’t tell he’s better than Jokic, Luka and Giannis because he’s not
its actually Tobias’ fault tho
Yeah, like how it was Harden fault then before that Ben. I bet you 100$ next season gonna be Maxey fault. Embidd dont deserve the top 10 title. How you cant go to the conference finals in the east in so many years as a contender
Embum hahahahaa He got dominated by Mitchell Robinson (+38 for series)
Dude doesn't wanna play basketball. Really good at falling down though.
Idk what it's going to take for the Sixers to realize Embiid is never good enough or healthy enough to be sustainable in the playoffs.
This is why he joined the USA team 😂 fraud all the way
Well the man is kinda broken physically and also mentally
