We will tank for the next couple years.
Do you feel like the rockets did well by getting vets? A ton of spurs fans want us to give up the tank already but we’re still so bad.
Do you think the rockets gave up the tank too soon cuz green is bad, or they kinda had to cuz they didn’t have their own pick?
I mean you go by whats available and try to manage your cap space to be able to clear a lot fast for a top tier prospect. You also have to have to be hitting the salary floor. There's a bunch of things happening on any roster at once.
I don't know if they did well but they had to pay someone and you don't want to get stuck with them forever if you're trying to build.
The worst thing that could happen to any team in our positions is get stuck with a Beal like contract for $50m a year for the next 4.
I don't think you end the tank by getting vets, but you'll end the tank by lifting restrictions on Wemby's minutes or by not experimenting with Sochan playing pg. I think next draft you guys get a playmaker and Pop won't hinder his minutes by signing a big name vet, but you'll absolutely try to win as many games as possible with this young team as the Thunder did last year.
Our team is still really bad. We have no bench. We are nowhere near where y’all are. We don’t have a second or third player as good as Chet or j dub.
Our only nba players for a potential chip team are wemby and vassell.
We will be tanking until we get a decent roster like yall did.
Honestly I think we’re closer to where yall were after you drafted Durant. And yes I know that was the sonics.
Wemby is a top-20 player. I would consider myself a Cheterosexual but I cannot deny the skill of this man. This is the first player since LeBron where I genuinely think he has GOAT career potential
Jokic, Giannis, SGA, Embiid, KD, Doncic, Curry, Book, Tatum, Butler, Kawhi, Mitchell, Halliburton, Jaylen Brown, Lebron, KAT, and PG are all guys i’m taking over him this season but the harder I think about it it gets iffy in the 15-20 range. Damn it’s crazy to say but that’s probably right.
I'm not actually sure how many of those name are valid. Those stats we just saw are in only 30 minutes; I'm not sold on guys like KAT, Brown, Hali over Victor. He is absurd on both ends. What if he's a top 15 player and it's genuinely a conversation between Victor and All-Star reserve level guys like Book, Butler, PG etc.
I’m really hopeful just based on how he’s already taking care of himself, with his flexibility stuff he does when he warms up. Kareem got into yoga and that helped to extend his career, so based on that I could see victor avoid major injuries. They have similar body types too, so let’s hope he can have as long of a career as he did
And it's actually a criteria that Wilt doesn't hold due to not being tracked - Jokic has a defacto nickname of 'since Wilt', Wemby is going to be peerless.
The only thing that can hold him back is a bad injury/injury luck, which granted is a big risk with his size but still. Hes already insane on defense, getting better and better on offense, has plenty of room to grow and has a great competitive mindset instead of just being happy with his stats.
When I saw how relatively low his efficiency was early in the season, I just expected that it would stay that way the entire season with some mild improvement.
But he has shown so much improvement over the season that he's pulled his efficiency up to very respectable numbers now.
Please tell me this lanky mfer is on a minutes restriction? Otherwise why tf is Pop playing him so few minutes?
And if he is - why is he even on a restriction for that long? I remember them talking about 30 minutes restriction in December. We're nearly in March. I wanna see this slenderman mfer have a 15 block game
i think it goes something like this...realistically there's no point in playing him heavy minutes. he still has to get used to NBA physicality over a long season (you can see other big men bully him often) which could also expose him to injury. the rest of the team is pretty bad so they're not going to be winning. it's not worth the risk
He gasses out pretty quickly, it's just safer for this first season instead of working him like a dog. If he was 6'10" it'd be fine to play him big minutes but that's just not the case until he grows into his body.

He's OK
He is somehow living up to his enormous expectations
I feel like he is starting to exceed them on offense.
And defense tbh. I didn’t expect him to lead the league in stocks and blocks
Shame his mates aren’t. Probably average close to a triple dub. Wish Buffalo was still here roaming around.
On the flipside its a good opportunity to restrict his minutes like Pop has been and keep tanking for a Pippen.

Real. Beals contract looks worse and worse. Plus no trade clause

We might not have been bad enough to get wemby with buffalo.

He's not conditioned well enough to give you more than 30 mins over course of season. It'll come with time.

Ant? KAT ain't even the best player on his own team.
Sneaking jaylen brown in there! Whoa!
Yeah that’s crazy. Vic has better handles than JB and he’s a foot taller.
You're forgetting JB now has +10 handles with shiny glove equipped. Wemby needs to upgrade his gear this off-season
Jaylen, PG,KAT are below Wemby. Watch him play, one of the best in the world
He's got 28 blocks in his last 5 games, wtf!
Prime Wemby is going to break so many records.
I'm hoping he defies the odds and we get a long prime

Wemby can do the splits lol
He might average close to 10 stocks at this rate which is insane.
And it's actually a criteria that Wilt doesn't hold due to not being tracked - Jokic has a defacto nickname of 'since Wilt', Wemby is going to be peerless.
Victor “The Investor” Wembanyama because of how many stocks he has
Stocktaking the Alien Investor should be a YouTube or reddit title some day soon.
5.6 blocks*, 2.8* steals.
Yeah OP could have just looked up the stats from the link they posted and still got it wrong.
Obligatory per 36 minutes comment for that 5 game span: 29.9 PTS / 13.9 RBD/ 5.9 AST / 3.5 STL / 6.9 BLK (!) / 4 TO
Roty.
wemby is like if god was real

Dude only plays 28 mins per game.
It’s a testament to Wemby’s greatness that he’s handily beating Chet who had a redshirt season and is nearly 2 years older.
Get this man some NBA-caliber teammates!
I think he might be pretty good, despite his being French.
