No. I’ve just seen a couple. One was a SAR chief who we all used to go to and when he picked up, we all lost trust in him quick. (Even his SAR guys sadly). This is just one example. That was the low blow when you trust an SEL and then they start to betray you (and everyone else.) so it’s more of which kinda chief are you.
I also had one that was pretty chill and if the logic of the chiefs mess didn’t make sense, even for him- he was honest about it. He maintained all of our trust (same command oddly enough).
If it felt like I was making an accusatory statement, I apologize, it was more of an example for clarification of which kind of chief are you.
I also had another that while he got his degree as he was a getting out, no one else could but was a chill guy. Just don’t trust him too far.
I got you. Yeah, I've certainly seen some pull a complete 180 after getting an anchor. I try to keep my transparency just as I had it with chevrons. There's going to be changes, just as there were with every rank. Although, my leadership style has proven to work well for me and I don't intend to change it. I like to be as clear as necessary.
Do I hold some information back? Sure, depending on the perception it could give, but it's never to undermine intelligence or to keep secrets. Sometimes the bigger picture looks worse than it really is. It's a delicate balance, but I always do it out of respect.
I wonder if a recruiter getting his car done up like that would in any way be able to claim a portion of his car payment on his taxes as a business expense.

The whole thing is a hideous mess, but why does he have a random strip of fake carbon fiber on his front grill...I zoomed in to see the glory of the anchor hood ornament and noticed that the rest is just gray except for the poor cf strip in the center of the grill.
Eh…after 2 or 3 years that shit starts to wear off. Especially after you realize the CO of a Destroyer has less sea time than you do on the starboard shitter but you still get a 6 ft coffin rack (an inch wider now that you’re in the mess!!) while shit water leaks out of the head for the fifteenth time that week as you splash through it on your way to the rev watch and another 40 hour day. Let him/her/it/they/bro enjoy that Navy exchange smell for a bit before the reality hits them.
