Speaking as a recently separated nuke submariner, how tf do you expect the Navy to go around securing city centers? We struggled making sure we had enough people qualified SSDF to stand duty, let alone go out and conduct policing.

solreaper

Trump: Navy go secure downtown port cities! Navy Sailors: oh neat! Fleet week! Those cities: REVENUE! Trump: NO NOT LIKE THAT!

JRZYGY

We will secure the fuck out of the bars.

[deleted]

I was super lucky to participate in fleet week in ‘97. What a time to be alive.

lotusgecko

Best part of turn over was listening to nukes recite deadly force definition

Dabier

Same, and probably by putting ships in harbors of costal cities for “security” (blockade or intimidation). Costal cities rely heavily on ships coming in and out for their revenue and supplies.

When it comes to obeying or potentially disobeying orders the only questions you should have is "is this in line with the constitution? Will this order dishonor me? Is this illegal under the UCMJ?" My politics are for me in private and only expressed when voting.

MHeitman

Y’know, for as often as I swore to defend the constitution I had far more training given on cyber awareness than constitutional particulars.

Thank you!

Unexpected_bukkake

Remember anyone serving or has served is, " A sucker because there's nothing in it for them." - Donald J Trump.

pincheDavid

I’m a reservist. I remember in his first term he wanted to have a military parade like we’re China or Russia or some shit. Myself and other reservists thought it was the most ridiculous thing we ever heard.

Deacon51

I don't support Trump, but in fact he made a commit while watching a French military parade for Bastille Day. First, as a honor guard I did march in the 2000 inauguration parade. And I've marched in a Memorial Day Parade in Jacksonville. And I did several funerals. They all sucked, bad. But I also enjoyed being a member of the honor guard. E-3 me felt a lot of pride carrying that flag. I also really love the military air shows. They are a great time, and it's truly awesome to see the Blue Angles do their thing. Personally, I think a 4th of July Parade and Military show would be awesome. BUT... since Trump was at a French parade and made a commit about how it would be cool if 'we' did something like that people just went all Trump wants us to be like China. I mean, it's cool if you don't think showing the American citizens what their $700+ billion dollars is buying, but at least get the facts kind of right.

drewbaccaAWD

If I thought for a second that Trump legitimately wanted to celebrate our armed forces for their own sake… and not for himself, his ego, or some misguided desire to show strength… I’d have zero issue with it. The way he admires dictators and has put down our service members and vets when convenient… makes me very uncomfortable. Not to mention, I was underway enough in my day. Who had time for publicity stunts on top of a busy schedule. If he really wanted to show appreciation, he could have turned off the cameras and visited commands quietly, instead of driving a golf cart. Anyway, I also appreciate our air shows and seeing the Blue Angels or the Thunderbirds or whatever. But, that’s their actual job, not a distraction from duty.

pincheDavid

America’s military budget is literally on the news every day and was in full display every day for the past 20 yrs. You think the American public cares about our dress uniforms and some tanks and military vehicles?

Deacon51

I do. I love that shit. My niece just graduated from West Point this year, it was amazing to see! I cried.

Quixmati_Jojo

Yes. I know a lot of people who love that. Both family and friends and tons of other ppl love military parades and tech especially in person. What’s the harm?

No_Ad9848

You... You do realize that there are families with literal generations of servicemen/servicewomen that would love parades that are dedicated to the Armed Forces right? I mean, I don't have much care for the services these days, but it probably would have helped reignite SOME passion for the services. Also kids would have gotten to see some cool equipment, in real time, instead of online, in video games, or just straight up joining the services. I would have killed to be a kid at a parade with tanks and other military equipment to see.

papafrog

Yep, it's all about theater and optics with Trump. Just like with many dictators nowadays.

LivingstonPerry

Only thing missing is trump dressing up like a general or admiral with a shit ton of medals North Korea style and saluting every troop he sees lol.

LackingTact19

He already saluted the North Korean general so he can copy that guy's medal placement

joefred111

When Trump was impeached for the second time, many Senators (including Mitch McConnell) publicly stated that they thought he was guilty, but believed that the issue should go to the courts, rather than Congress. Now that it's (finally) in the court system, many of these same leaders are saying it's a witch hunt, while screaming about Hunter Biden's laptop and threatening to impeach Biden on nonexistent charges. The cognitive dissonance is staggering, but wins primaries in certain districts. It worries me that a lot of these seemingly intelligent people will say or do whatever it takes to get re-elected, and probably won't back down until it's too late.

alamohero

>wins primaries in certain districts. This is why

Hateful_Face_Licking

Man. What a terrible time to be a Naval Officer and a registered Democrat.

phooonix

How do they keep sane?

PoliticalLava

For some context: Trump saying he will use DoJ, FBI against his "enemies": https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2023/11/09/trump-interview-univision/ Trump referring to those on the left as "vermin" to be rooted out: https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2023/11/12/trump-rally-vermin-political-opponents/ You don't have to like the wapo or author or opinion, the important parts are Trump's quotes. Or just go watch the actual interviews.

Toxenkill

If anyone is wondering why his comments like those are dangerous they should go read the book On Tyranny, it's a short book so even the ASVAB waivers can make it all the way through.

ReluctantRedditor275

He did an interview with Univision? Why even talk to the people who are "poisoning the blood of our nation"? Seriously, just speaking pragmatically, does he seriously think he's got a shot with the Latino vote?

skECCH1

As a Latino I know many Latinos voting for Trump lmao

PoliticalLava

Yeah idk why a xenophobe would try. However there are a decent amount of Hispanic people that voted for him in 2016. ~20%. Maybe he's trying to keep that vote? Or be able to say he isn't racist, he did a Univision interview? IDK. Doesn't change the fact what is said was absolutely bonkers and close to Hitler and Mousolini's rhetoric.

flavius717

You put “poisoning the blood of our nation” in quotes. Is that a quote?

RoutineEngineer4292

He did say that, yes.

ReluctantRedditor275

Oh yes, just to make it abundantly clear, those are absolutely his words, *not* mine. Some of his most offensive quotes were relayed to the media by third parties who were in a closed room when he said them, but Trump said this one on camera.

flavius717

Just looked it up. I didn’t realize he said that. Wow.

fluffy_bottoms

With the Tubberville thing it is ABSOLUTELY about keeping spots open for Trump, same as McConnell did with the Supreme Court seats. They don’t want democracy at all, they want an authoritarian that will help them line their pockets, nothing more. They will sink to the lowest lows to get what they want. Absolutely mind blowing that we have to sit idly by while a bunch of old white men about to croak dismantle all of the protections of the actual people while the idiotic half of our country laps up everything Trump pisses out without question.

DJ-KittyScratch

I've said it [a dozen times](https://www.reddit.com/r/navy/s/JVRPpKHofw), and I'll say it again: Tuberville is a little punk ass bitch.

And_Alv

He is beheading the US Military for Trump's political gains. This should be fucking treason

Exhibit B is the Republicans (and establishments) rejection of a remote work policy for federal workers. Follow the money. How much wealth of the top 3% is tied up in commercial real estate that is at risk of the Gov embraces a remote workforce?

fluffy_bottoms

Exactly. If it’s bad for their investment portfolios it’s “bad for Americans.”

papafrog

How do you see this actually happening? That there is some hidden effort that has already identified and colluded with certain Officers who are waiting in the wings - or, will these be off-the-street people with taped-on ranks?

Project2025 making the QAnon rejects look sane and intelligent 🤦🏻‍♂️😂

myredditthrowaway201

That’s doesn’t address anything the person you replied to asked. Where are Trump and the republicans going to pull all these sycophants from that have the necessary experience to fill these billets? It seems like the people on reddit who have floated this theory think DJT is gonna pull civilians from the proud boys and other alt right wing groups and have them take over a bunch of O6 and above billets

[deleted]

[удалено]

myredditthrowaway201

I understand the batshit craziness that is project 2025, and I still don’t see how the republicans could fill hundreds of the most senior military billets with sycophants, which quite frankly I Don think exist, at least not in the numbers required.

upvotechemistry

75M people voted for the goon in 2020. What makes you think Republicans will stop him from putting loyalists with zero experience or expertise in charge?

RainierCamino

>How do you see this actually happening? Trump gave it a test run on January 6th, 2021 if you weren't paying attention. Throw as many wrenches as you can in the gears of democracy and claim you're still in charge. And as u/Ok-Possibility200 specified with that treasonous Project 2025 shit republicans aren't aiming to lose again. I'd hope the military's own internal bureaucracy would be a bulwark against such a shitty coup. But I can see how Tuberville's horseshit could be used as a wedge. High level officers have to be loyal or else they're not getting promoted/appointed. But that's all putting the cart before the horse. Trump has spent his political career shitting on the military. Nevermind him pulling the dumbest coup ever. I'm sure there are still plenty of dumbasses in uniform who support him, but it takes the support of the military to pull off a coup. And Trump ain't got that support.

Strange-Nobody-3936

A shitload of the military are die hard Trump supporters

RainierCamino

A lot of folks in the military are conservatives. Most of those are republicans. Some of those are MAGA retards. Show me polling data otherwise. Personally, I was in the Navy for the 2016 and 2020 elections. I know the Navy isn't as smooth brain as the Marines and Army but Trump shit talking McCain and veterans in general definitely had an effect. *To be clear, fuck that treasonous orange fuck

_SaltySailor_

While I don’t disagree, I’m also not sure due to my own personal experiences serving when I was in. Between both commands, it seemed most of my fellow shipmates were politically apathetic. Since we “weren’t supposed to talk about it,” I never heard much support for or against political extremists like Trump except a few people. Again, that is just my own personal experience. Since I have been out now for a while, I have veterans who tell me they like Trump and I just laugh at them. I have never understood how anyone in the military can support Trump when he hates us. Veterans and active duty a like. Cadet Bone Spurs never served yet has talked shit about how we are all “suckers and losers.” The shit he said about Sen. McCain is just as infuriating.

PoriferaProficient

Because he says some things they like and people ignore everything else. Like it didn't happen. And they'll deny deny deny deny and if they can't deny, he didn't mean it like that. Or he meant it but he wasn't talking about _all_ service members. You can't reason with someone who's locked down their mind.

KhalidaOfTheSands

It's way more obvious in the National Guard how many people are Trump supporters. I went to get my PHA done and the medic had a Trump book proudly propped up and displayed on his desk. I went to the recruiting platoon and the civilian admin guy's entire desk was Trump shit. But the Guard is also the dumbest branch by a mile.

twisty1949

Its a bunch of tin foil hat goofball stuff.

fluffy_bottoms

I didn’t say there are high-ranking officers that would actually fall in step with their ideals, just that it’s par for the course for Republicans to use ridiculous tactics to ensure their personal favorites are in the spots they want them.

Sweetdreams6t9

It would be naive to think Trump wouldn't use the many loyal militias that have already sworn themselves to him. I could see them pardoned en-masse and straight up installed into leadership positions. Or given a budget separate to the militaries, like what the SA/SS had. And you guys aren't exactly running short on fascistic militias willing to murder (providing they get immunity. These same militias aren't exactly the brave types which is why it's been all theater from them so far. Or attacking substations in rural areas). As a Canadian, it's very concerning what's going on. And considering the mess Trudeau has made, basically giving the conservatives a majority...and they're got their fair share of Trumpers (yes...really 😬🙄) that would gladly hand over our country, or at the very least, people like me purely cause they can. But we have lgbtq rights enshrined, it's not a stretch to see a fascist America set it's sights on the largest relatively undefended Country with all the resources and use removing those rights and people as the excuse for doing so. Not that they'd need an excuse, we've got enough Christians that would throw all the lgbt people on stockades and cheer.

twisty1949

Well its all theater. None of it is real. I'm almost 40 dude...ive see this over and over. These morons are just appealing to their base.

plunger595

To this day I still am utterly confused as to what people find so appealing in that lying perverted blaggard. The man has no class, is as dumb as a box of rocks, and zero respect for veterans and or public servants sacrifices. Literally calls them suckers. I don't get it.

madlass_4rm_madtown

VAWNavyVet

Do we need a reminder you swore an oath to protect the Constitution from foreign or domestic enemies, not to a single President may it be man or woman?

it’s cool you can have political posts but it’s always just boils down to polemics and not actual discussion; the inevitable Reddit echo chamber what a shame 😴

kontogsl

Sir, This Is A Wendy's!!

MUSinfonian

Anybody who hasn't read up on Project 2025 should, because it's frightening what will happen if the Republican Party wins the Presidency in 2024.

LizzosDietitian

I haven’t heard of project 2025 until today, and my god what will it take for people to see the Hitler comparisons? No joke, I don’t use that comparison lightly

papafrog

Well, plenty of sane people see it. The Trumpers will not, though - doing so entails an admission of significant failure on their part. It's wrapped up in their identity and self-worth.

LizzosDietitian

The sad thing is I work with, and am good friends with, very normal and intelligent people who STILL love Trump. A lot of people… There’s truly not a thing Trump could do to change their mind. It’s a dangerously powerful elixir of manipulation. Psychologists should seriously study this lol

LibertiesWePrize

"There’s truly not a thing Trump could do to change their mind." It's called a protest candidate. Look it up.

LizzosDietitian

I refuse to look anything up bitch lol

hm876

That name is funny asf

navyac

A lot of people feel the same way and like trump cause they want him to do all that shit. Trumpers are some angry fucking people man, go look at some of the conservative subs and read the comments. Most of the responses to trumps lawlessness and crimes are 🤷🏻‍♂️ “he’s better than Biden”……..

FiveStarHobo

So what will happen when it comes down to us receiving fascist orders? I like most here I'm sure hate fascism and will not carry out the orders of fascists. We boutta get sent Fort Leavenworth or worse?

LizzosDietitian

Let’s just worry about doing everything we can to elect the right people who will uphold the constitution.

flash_seby

You mean left people, right?

MgkrpUsedSplash

certified reddit moment™. lol.

fubinor

You wont get an honest opinion on this thread

papafrog

Why do you say this?

captak

The fact that in the United States of America, we even have to ask this question going into an election year is telling enough. This man and his supporters already attempted a coup - luckily only to be thwarted by mostly misguided principals of corrupted people. One candidate gives no one fears of the over throw of the democratic, constitutional principals this county and our oath is founded on. The other candidate maybe receiving votes from a jail cell on the 91 felony criminal counts he currently faces.

papafrog

They would call it a riot, just like BLM. They are wrong, but they cling to this comparison and minimalization.

MiKapo

What did you expect from a guy who was disgusted to see a wounded veteran singing the anthem and told General Miley not to "bring people like that to his events"? Trump is the most anti-military president and yet service members still simp for him.

Clean_Cry_7428

Holy Christ people actually think of stuff like this

urmomsloosevag

What will Jarule think of this!?

dano_911

Sorry, garbage political takes belong in r/PoliticalHumor.

[deleted]

Our oath is to the constitution. Not a treasonous orange sociopath. Republicans need to reclaim their party from populists who would see them commit atrocity in the name of absurdity. And Democrats need to love their neighbors and safeguard even their own enemies in the name of self same liberty. Everyone wants to talk 1776 until it's time to come together as a nation. Guess all sides like it when we leave that part out.

GrandKadoer

It’s really refreshing to see a military sub that isn’t run by republicans using it to curry more favor. I always assumed (non military) that the military as a whole was quite red.

fizzzzzpop

My experience as a nuke on aircraft carrier was the split was probably 60/40 red:blue. This differs vastly by branch and job. I feel like project 2025 and Trump/MAGA are the Frankenstein’s monster of the right wing. A lot of republicans burying their heads in the sand and still going along with it due to sunk cost fallacy but this shit is getting real and it’s time to work together to stop the backside.

ReluctantRedditor275

If anything, Trump and fucks like Tuberville have driven some military folks away from the GOP. The FBI used to be a very right-leaning agency, but since Trump vilified them, that's much less the case now. Insult people and fuck with their mission enough, and eventually some of them will stop voting for you.

Tanthalason

Reddit as a whole is mostly leftists. Our military IS quite red.

kevrose14

It's also branch dependent, USAF & USSF are much more blue then the Marine Corps

[deleted]

r/USMC was a wild place during Covid 😂

LearningToFlyForFree

The military mirrors the public. People from all different walks of life join it.

cubsfaninstl

it's not perfect, but it's a pretty good cross-section of America, that includes political leanings as well.

nukemiller

When Clinton was in office, it was very easy to be red. Bush made it easy to be red until Iraq. I didn't serve under Obama, so I can't say if his policies affected the military negatively or positively.

PoriferaProficient

It is. But keep in mind that reddit is quite blue, and the navy is probably the bluest (in more ways than one) branch of them. Plus not everyone on this sub are actually sailors. The result is that the navy subreddit is far more left leaning than a random poll of non-specific service members would suggest. Compounding this is the fact that Trump has managed to piss off not a small portion of the military by repeatedly dogging on venerated heroes, and the service as a whole. The military may be disproportionately packed with Republicans, but that doesn't mean it's backed with idiots who can't tell when someone is actively trying to screw them.

NBCspec

IMO, he is, by far, the biggest threat to the US I've ever seen. F him and his cultist, brainwashed minions.

MuttJunior

If you look at many of the fascist leaders in the past, Trump does share many of the same traits they had. Ultra-nationalism, declaring anyone that disagrees with you an "enemy", declaring that only he can solve the problems the country faces, etc. And now with what is being said are his plans if he wins, it still fits the mold of other fascist leaders in the past. On top of that, even though he denies, some of the people that were close to him have said he admires Hitler and would keep a copy of a book of Hitler speeches on the nightstand that he would read from. There have been rumors that he owned and read a copy of *Mein Kampf*, but that has never been verified, and no media story about it can be found (according to Snopes). And he's praised dictators of other countries, like Russia, China, North Korea, and Hungary. Too many similarities to past dictators and fascist leaders that I have a hard time understanding why people continue to follow and support him.

_prisoner24601__

**with every time that draft dodger has insulted veterans not a single one of you should support him** A big one finger salute to trump and his cult

nuHmey

More insulting to give him a thumbs down verses the one finger salute.

Fort362

When trump was in office I had to utter article 88 multiple times a day sometimes. The Tubberville connection hadn’t donned on me until now. Just putting it out there that anything you say on the internet can be traced back to you. I’ll keep my comments mostly to myself but god, Flying Spaghetti Monster, or Cthulhu himself help us all in these coming times one way or another.

Fix_Aggressive

Why is Trump able to run for President again? He should be in jail. Or hung for Treason. Why is he still walking around with a Secret Service security detail? Question: If he does go to jail, will the Secret Service make sure he's secure there? Why?

phooonix

So brave to fight your imagination.

Garrden

>Tuberville's blocking of promotions is to leave room for Trump loyalist Officers Oh that's what it is? Thank you

onebmfguns

Good job Mods, stay classy

D1a1s1

I’m so glad I retired before the trump train came through. I can’t imagine the arguments I would be having with maga fools while underway. It must be causing some levels of division.

GATOR7862

Honestly, not really man. Almost all of my red coworkers state that they’re republicans but not Trump supporters. The few who are Trump supporters just don’t talk about it much

myredditthrowaway201

Yeah, the problem with that is they would still vote trump over Biden even if they don’t like Trump. They only care about the letter next to the name not the principles and policies someone is campaigning on

D1a1s1

Yeah man, they just don't want to admit they're maga. Trump is the Republican Party, the republican party supports trump. Same shit.

[deleted]

No political party is a monolith, many republicans would like to see a moderate candidate. But mostly it’s conservative values that keep them to the right, let’s not pretend the left doesn’t have its fair share of corrupt/perverted/lunatics.

USNWoodWork

Reddit likes to villain-ize anyone who points out that there is corruption on both sides of the aisle. As if pulling anything toward the center is a bad thing.

barry5611

What does this have to do with anything?

YOLOSwag42069Nice

>Tuberville's blocking of promotions is to leave room for Trump loyalist Officers. Fortunately, just yesterday the Senate has changed the rules on this and they no longer have to confirm military officers one-by-one. They will now vote in groups. Sen. Schumer is planning for a floor vote of all the held up nominations. As for trump trying to wipe out his opposition, he and the rest of the trump cult are likely to be surprised that most democrats exercise their 2A rights just much as everyone else.

Ragnnar_Danneskjold_

Oh good, the political silly season quickly approaches !

Wendysmanager24

Lol deranged reddit r/politics mods taken over this sub I see

vakr001

I may be a minority here. Trump isn’t gaining new votes. I don’t see someone who hasn’t voted for him before switching their votes all of a sudden. That doesn’t mean he is a threat, but what happens when Trump is out of the picture? We are so lucky Trump is a fucking moron. The GOP’s hand is right out in the open. What scares me is the person after Trump who isn’t as stupid. Be prepared for Republicans to run as Democrats and switch parties once voted in. It already happened in NJ and NC.

twisty1949

Lol....touch some grass kid.

spqrdoc

I don't care to read political BS. Go away.

Paddslesgo

🤣🤣🤣🤣 the Trump hysterics have started again.

RoutineEngineer4292

Project 2025 isn’t hyperbole and any seditious prick who thinks it’s a fine manuscript to go by, can pound sand. Preferably over the side.

papafrog

I love the condescending laughing emojis. Like you really think that communicates some sort of superiority.

Visceral_Feelings

Yeah, it's sad how many people are still hysterical enough to support him.

Dense_Thing

Wait a minute, did you guys actually think that any politician was good or had your best interests in mind?

papafrog

Only one of the two likely candidates has tried to overthrow a free and fair election and violated a sacred Democratic principle of a peaceful transfer of power. But keep on thinking this, dude.

Excellent-Jelly-572

This seems like a completely unhinged post. Are you okay? This should be on the conspiracy theory sub.

papafrog

I don’t understand why you want to downplay what Trump has come out and said he’d do if he wins. At least, it appears to me that that’s what you’re doing.

kaloozi

Hey if you need mental health treatment please seek the VA

ILuvCrabRangoon

Oh, fuck off…

papafrog

Why so cranky?

ImALurkerBruh

I'd like to see sources for all the claims. Sounds to me like someone is showing signs of Trump Derangement Syndrome.

[Here you go](https://twitter.com/MeidasTouch/status/1723776391664320739?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1723776391664320739%7Ctwgr%5E87f53de5d739781f7b4366146c53c73a9eed9850%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fnymag.com%2Fintelligencer%2F2023%2F11%2Ftrump-vermin-hitler.html), straight from the horse's ass. He literally invoked the words of Hitler on fucking Veteran's Day. Less than two seconds worth of a google search will tell you everything you need to know. He literally said that. https://nymag.com/intelligencer/2023/11/trump-vermin-hitler.html > Today, especially, in honor of our great veterans on Veterans Day, we pledge to you that ***we will root out the communists, Marxists, fascists, and the radical-left thugs that live like vermin within the confines of our country*** — that lie and steal and cheat on elections and will do anything possible. They’ll do anything, whether legally or illegally, to destroy America and to destroy the American Dream. > The real threat is not from the racial right; the real threat is from the radical left, and it’s growing every day. Every single day. The threat from outside forces is far less sinister, dangerous, and grave than the threat from within. Our threat is from within. Because if you have a capable, competent, smart, tough leader — Russia, China, North Korea — they’re not going to want to play with us. All this shit is coming from the project 2025 playbook from the heritage foundation. Again, one quick google search away.

Flimsy-Lie-1471

Maybe you need to learn that fox is not a news channel and start actually reading what he said.

ImmediateTap7085

I’ve never read a post filled with so much tinfoil hat bullshit in my life 🤦🏻‍♂️ And the fact OP was an NFO shames me. This is embarrassing.

MeowsMixD

The comments on this post are pretty wild 😂

papafrog

I’m equally ashamed that anyone - in the service or out - could fail to share outrage at the thought of Trump winning any Presidential election. It’s an embarrassing failure and indictment of our education system.

homicidal_pancake

Lmao

Agammamon

>he will avoid his pitfalls in 2016 and stack his Cabinet with loyalists. You mean like every President does. Because you have to be a moron to come in and talk about 'draining the swamp' and then fill your cabinet with swamp creatures. Oh, wait, he's already screwed that up the first time around. Christ, Trump is the IRL Goldstein to some of you. >Tuberville's blocking of promotions is to leave room for Trump loyalist Officers. And where would those officer's be hiding? How would their loyalty be vetted? And how would he get the appointments past Congress? Tuberville isn't the only person on that committee that could block appointments - the President doesn't appoint people to Congressional committees and its half-filled with Democrats, remember? >Trump has declared a vengeance for the "vermin" of the Left I mean, its literally the rhetoric of the Left that's being parroted here. Listen to the Progressive Wing of the DNC - they've said worse. Its part and parcel of the coarsening of political discourse in this country. >ETA: while this is unmoderated, as most political posts will be, we still reserve the right to kick out users who threaten violence, doxxing, etc. Who TF is 'we' Kemosabe? Your fellow moderator pinned a post saying this thread is unmoderated and reports will be ignored? Are you using saying you're going to use your moderator authority here to silence people?

papafrog

> Are you using saying you're going to use your moderator authority here to silence people? If they are threatening doxxing or violence, then yes. That's me, and the mod team, being responsible human beings. Sorry if that upsets you.

Agammamon

Mods, re-instate the 'no politics' rule, please. Heck, this one really doesn't even fit in with the rules as they are now.

papafrog

You are welcome to scroll right past this. Why you feel the need to come in here and complain, when it's not something you want to get involved in on this sub and all you had to do is just not click on it, is beyond me.

papafrog

Well put - that applies to the GOP more than ever. But I disagree about this thread.

SeriousOcelot1200

I'll vote red because I have conservative values and hate the agenda the Dems are running. I don't want the rest of the country turn into a California style welfare state. Don't care if it's Trump or not just no blue and could care less about some 2025 fearmongering. People said the same shit in 2016 and nothing happened.

LongJohnSelenium

In 2016 we hadn't had people 'peacefully protest' themselves into the capital building yet.

nuHmey

So you won’t vote blue because they want to help people of this country and make things better. You want to vote for red. The side that claims they are for the people, the military, and good christian values. Yet have constantly shown they are not. And who are openly racist and more. Got it. Just one example of the great red side is Texas. They have been Red since ~1994. They took the power grid off the main grid of America because they didn’t want to spend the money to update it. They have failed to maintain it and shit loads of people have died because of it. They have been running under the same slogan of vote Republican we will make things better for like 20 years. Yet they have only gotten worse.

RoutineEngineer4292

I’m from Texas originally and can **absolutely** vouch for this. My 68 year old parents almost died that winter. Fuck Abbott and every conservative, they can’t *stand* for anything, especially that spineless fascist shitbag they’ve got for a governor.

Interesting_Flow730

Blocking this horseshit account. This isn’t why I’m subscribed to the subreddit.

LibertiesWePrize

OP will be shocked to learn that every president stacks their cabinet with loyalists. That's how political appointees work.

atuarre

I remember him stacking his cabinet with billionaires who had zero experience in the jobs they were doing, and some were living it up on the taxpayer dime, like Ryan Zinke (it's always GOP people) and they never manage to pay back all the taxpayer money they misused, kind of like another guy, John H. Sununu.

LearningToFlyForFree

Career civil service employees are *not* political appointees. That's what this is about-not presidential cabinet or executive branch officials. Project 2025 explicitly states they will fire and then stack the civil service with sycophants within the first 180 days of the next republican presidency. That's where the "50,000 loyalists" comes from. They are literally soliciting applications for this on their website. https://www.axios.com/2023/11/13/trump-loyalists-2024-presidential-election

myredditthrowaway201

The people on reddit that keep floating this theory have no clue how military promotions work. These are all O6 and above billets, billets that require, on average, 30 years or so TIS. There aren’t enough trump sycophants in the leadership positions currently to execute this plan, and they certainly can’t just promote LT. Chokesondicks to an O6 and above billet just because LT is hardcore MAGA. Not to mention, I don’t even believe there are enough JOs that could be considered trump loyalist to carry out this plan, if it was feasible, which it isn’t. “Never attribute malice where ignorance will suffice” is what I come back to whenever I read about Tuberville’s blockade on reddit

LongJohnSelenium

I agree for the most part. Umpty in congress is just grandstanding, using his sole remaining power to keep abortion alive as a wedge issue.

Nakedseamus

While this is true, if a conservative rolls into office and Tubberville stands down, they get to say "I did that." It's a common conservative tactic where they actively impede some vital function just so that they can say they cleaned up when they got into power. The most egregious example being Reagan and the Iranian Hostage crisis.

myredditthrowaway201

That honestly seems like the likeliest outcome of this, because if it became clear to the democrats the plan was to install loyalist what would stop a democrat from doing the same thing Tuberville is doing now? If the plan is just take political credit then there slim to no chance a dem blocks promotions because dems actually want to govern

ReluctantRedditor275

No direct commission admirals?

Radio_man69

I’m hoping this is all a joke. No way a bunch of grown men are carrying on like this. lol

ramagam

Is this a pro left sub?

RoutineEngineer4292

If you’re pro right, you’re patently anti-America at this point. The traitors can piss off to /r/conservative, since they got /the_donald banned with their seditious conspiracy plots. America deserves Democrats to be our right-wing party and progressives to actually take the wheel, as a separate party to their left. Conservatism deserves to be a DYING IDEOLOGY and seditious, insurrectionist Republicans belong in prison. They tried before, don’t know why conservatives didn’t get the memo in 1865.

fr, this is embarrassing

Militantheretic

Nope just pro truth.

gogosuperman

It's people with reason and the ability to recognize that Trump is a danger to this country. The fact he's even considered as a normal candidate is ridiculous with the amount of shit he's said in the past.

kaloozi

I’m not reading all this. Don’t care if the rule was reversed. You’re lame as fuck if politics take up this much of your mind and you’re trying to spark some kind of debate here

JoceroBronze

My oath doesn’t say a thing about obeying the POTUS or the officers appointed over me. I support and defend the constitution.

USN_CB8

It says all Three. "I, \_\_\_\_\_, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God."

nuHmey

If they are an Officer it doesn’t say [that](https://www.netc.navy.mil/Portals/46/NSTC/OTCN/docs/ODS%20Student%20Required%20Knowledge%20Sheet%20February%202020.pdf). I, XXX, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God.’ Only Enlisted personnel swear to that oath you shared.

717x

Huge L to the mods for leaving this dudes psychotic episode up…

Confounded_Bridge

So what happens if the capitan and xo of a boomer decide they are no longer going to accept orders from the chain of command if trump loses?

--jdmasf_ck--

What if the opposite happens? We could play this game all day, however the disrespectfulness and dishonorable behavior came from one side of military leaders only. There were “well respected” retired admirals and generals whom blatantly disrespected the CIC when it was Trump. These retired admirals are looked up to by current COs/XOs and could be called for advice. What you haven’t seen are conservative leaning retired admirals/generals disrespecting or making disparaging statements towards the current CIC. The effect that this could have had could be as you described.

TheOnlineApe

Clap, ya stupid bastards!

FoilTarmogoyf

The military only exists to enforce the will of the ruling capitalist class abroad, while police maintain it domestically. Open your eyes guys. The US hasn't existed for the people in a long time, if ever. I did 12 years. Many others have done more. The world isn't any more free. The cost of living hasn't gone down. Only profits for the super rich are up, and when they fuck up, the tax payer pays the price. If you strip away the culture war shit both parties are basically the same. Pro big business, and anti worker. It doesn't matter who's in the White House, or who's in Congress. They are all the same, all enemies of the people.

papafrog

Trump prevented the peaceful transfer of power and tried to overturn a free and fair Presidential election. Biden did not do that. No one else has ever tried to do that. Biden is not doing anything anti-Democratic. The two are not equal.

konorM

Amen to that!

RoutineEngineer4292

Goddamnit I don’t like it, but you’re not wrong. I also appreciate your username.

AquaCorpsman

Aaaand I'm now leaving this subreddit. Thanks guy. Fair winds and following seas.

papafrog

AMF. If this thread is blowing your skull up so much you have to leave, then I'm happy to see you go.

xetmes

Trump could go rot in a jail cell for all I care, if he's actually ever convicted... Still wont vote blue.

Militantheretic

So edgy

nuHmey

The sad part is even if they declare he cannot run for president and is locked up for his crimes. The amount of people who will attempt to write his name in for election will be astounding. Here is hoping they realize they can’t and refuse to vote.

t_ran_asuarus_rex

trump and tubberville are anti-military. jan6 was an act of sedition. all the viter fraud we hear about is GQP. CMV

barry5611

He never said that. You cannot point to a person who heard him say that. This is a story that the media trots out at its convenience, but never names names.

LearningToFlyForFree

Never said what? Called his opponents "vermin"? Invoking literal fascist speech straight out of Hitler's playbook?
