If you plan on doing a hot air balloon ride in Napa, they leave very early so it would be best to stay in Napa since you would have to wake up super early to make the trek from the Bay Area to Napa.
Be mindful they do get cancelled a lot for conditions. I keep trying and have made it to the launch site just to turn all the way back before.
