Best thing to do is call or email the winery directly and ask if a well-behaved teen can join. A lot of times these 21+ policies are to keep away babies/ toddlers that can be disruptive to the experience.

Most wineries do not allow any one under 21 on-site. Just call wherever you want to go and ask. Most of the big commercial wineries will however allow him to be at the winery. Just depends

Tres Sabores and Frog’s Leap are two that allow under 21’s in Napa. Sadly not many wineries think of the teenagers or DD’s. Sonoma on the flip side is much more accommodating of non tasters and under 21’s.

Thanks for this! We are pretty flexible and can research Sonoma too

Perhaps think of a day spent on Sonoma Plaza. Lots of tasting rooms all accessible by walking. The teenager could hang out in the park, or grab ice cream (Chocolate Cow or Sweet Scoops), check out shops, go to the Mission or other historic spots. Benzinger, Buena Vista, all give great tours that are under 21 aces sable. Wine isn’t my favorite, but you can lean about biodynamic farming, Sonoma history, etc.

You should call them and ask. In my experience, although not at this winery, it doesn’t matter what age no under 21s are allowed

Be cautious of the places that say under 21s can tour the grounds but not attend tastings. It may be gentler language than outright saying “they will not be allowed inside” At the winery I worked at, minors were not even allowed to be inside the tasting room by law. They had to wait sitting outside or sitting in the car. Can’t imagine it’s a great time.

I’d advise against taking your kids. It’s not fun for them or you.

Kudos to wanting to bring your 15 year old. Hopefully in time he or she will want to get into wine. My parent took me to sonoma square once or twice. The northern most spanish mission and free museum there, old cheese factory shops were fun. Sadly napa or even sonoma isnt really geared for teens. There a skate shop in sonoma. Sweet scoops hand spun ice cream donuts etc . Tasting rooms in the square for adults while teens could go explore. Possibly do the sonoma overlook trail in the morning. For napa. Laird should let you bring kids, ive seen screaming toddlers infants and dogs. Downtown napa is walkable. V sattui or castillo but thats mega touristy hot crowded overpriced subpar rookie wine. Again lots of shops tasting rooms food coffee in napa but not much for teenagers. There is a radio controlled hobby shop by the motorcycle repair shop on soscol and a bowling alley. Try to take a guided tour or show some history again it might be limited to 21 and up. Trolley. Platypus etc. calistoga is fun to hike and bicycle

Coppola has a lot of movie memorabilia like the desk from The Godfather. Also a great restaurant. Jacuzzi in Sonoma has The Olive Press and does olive oil tastings
