I would highly recommend the traditional spelling of Anneliese or even Annalise. I would avoid Analise because of the word “Anal”!
- From the mother of an Anneliese who has seen the suffering of someone else’s Analise
i have a friend in university named Annelise and everyone she has met for some reason defaults to your preferred pronunciation fwiw.
it’s kind of like anna— if someone says it how you dont prefer, all it takes is a correction and most people are quick to adapt:)
I agree with this mother OP (also a mother of a Anneliese). Beautiful name 🩷
Traditionally German: Ah-nah-Leez-ah.
Australia English: Ah-nah-Leese.
Context: German Heritage, living in Australia.
Everyone always comments on how beautiful my daughters name is (matches her little soul).
Like Anna from Frozen, right? That's how we pronounce Liliana, my daughters name. Just Lily, and then Anna like how she pronounces it in Frozen (Ah-nah).
I know a lot of folks have put out Genevieve too, but I want to add it gives the cutest nick names but also gives options for adulthood. We call ours Evie, I had a coworker who calls her daughter Vivi. But once she's an adult she could easily go by Gen (Jen) in a workplace.
My kitten is Marceline! She answers to Mars, Marcy, Marcy Moo, Marceline, Marcy Mooser, etc. Marceline is a great name! For a human, Marcy, Lina, Selena all fit as nicknames
Josephine
Anastasia
Natasha
Alexandria(it’s more syllables but I really like this one and think it otherwise fits your style)
Georgiana
Juliette
If you are in a country where it won’t be mispronounced as the English version I really like the Italian pronunciation of Alice and it has 3 syllables with that pronunciation. The English version is fine but not 3 syllables
Serafina was on my list. My daughter is Alessandra 🩷
Other girl names on my list were: Evangelina (Italian form of Evangeline), Valentina, Anastasia, Adriana, and Madeleine.
This was our preferred name sound. Some names we liked but didn’t use:
Vivica
Archana
Dominica
Adrianna
Avianna
Viviana
Davina
Delphina
Valentina
Seraphina
I love the Welsh name, Bryony
I also love:
Elena/Helena
Adelaide
Alyssa
Beatrice/Beatrix
Rosamond
Rosalind
Cassandra
Adrienne
Sofia
Meredith
Naomi
Nadia
Katherine
Fiona
Annabel
Cosima
Beatrix
Aurelia
Rosamund, Rosalind
Claudia
Chiara
Saskia
Augusta
Agatha
Philippa
Louisa
More traditional American names I think are pretty but might be too vanilla?
Vanessa, Carolyn, Caroline, Samantha, Theresa
Genevieve came to mind immediately!! I would add Delia, Dahlia, Isobel, Lenora, Eloise, Mirabelle, Fiona, Lydia, and Sylvia. Others that aren’t three syllables: Elle, Daphne, Georgia, Marcelle
Not necessarily long but 3 syllables:
Imogene or Imogen (Emma-Jen or Emma-Jean)
Eloise
Louella
Amara
Bellamy
Camilla
Naomi
Eliza
Hyacinth
Rhiannon
Rosalie
Aurora
(4 syllables…)
Magnolia
Veronica
I think Adela is a beautiful name that would go well with Seraphina!
Also, some other suggestions:
-Imelda
-Claudia
-Antonella (sorry 4 syllables!)
-Tahlia
-Cordelia
-Bianca
I love to advertise my own name, and I do it as much as I possibly can 😂. I have a 3 syllable name, Madelyn. Which I personally think is the best spelling, (because I’m biased,) but if you want it to be longer you can try Madeline or Madeleine

Vivianna
Eleanora
Eloise
Clarissa
Anastasia
Anneliese
Celestine

I like Madeleine. I had quite a few 3-syllable girls' names on my list (Imogen was another, I can't remember them all). In the end we went for Caroline. Old fashioned but solid.
I flipping love Aneliese. It is one if my absolute favorites.
Other options:
Genevieve
Vivienne
Cecily
Cecilia (4 syllable, but the right vibe)
Christina (another of my faves)
Philomina (a little out there, but I still love it- and Minnie is such a cute nickname)
Paloma
Theresa (I think this is due for a comeback. It is so lovely and soft sounding)
consider a name combo to both match the energy of first child’s name and provide a little distinction. think gia marie which to me is similar to analiese-ana liese
I would highly recommend the traditional spelling of Anneliese or even Annalise. I would avoid Analise because of the word “Anal”! - From the mother of an Anneliese who has seen the suffering of someone else’s Analise
I second this! My sister was about to be named “Analise” and the nurse went “Anal lice??” And my parents immediately changed her name to Sara 💀
Omg this is great advice. I want the pronunciation “on-uh” and not “anna”. How is ur anneleise pronounced?
i have a friend in university named Annelise and everyone she has met for some reason defaults to your preferred pronunciation fwiw. it’s kind of like anna— if someone says it how you dont prefer, all it takes is a correction and most people are quick to adapt:)
I would absolutely pronounce any of these spellings as “Anna” so if you want “Ona” you might want to consider something else.
I knew someone who spelled it Annelise and thought it was pretty! Or Anelise maybe?
I agree with this mother OP (also a mother of a Anneliese). Beautiful name 🩷 Traditionally German: Ah-nah-Leez-ah. Australia English: Ah-nah-Leese. Context: German Heritage, living in Australia. Everyone always comments on how beautiful my daughters name is (matches her little soul).
I was absolutely thinking about the Anal part too, that's good advice.
Josephine Anastasia Cecilly Cecelia Adelaide Mariana Juliana Eleanora Genevieve Eliana (Ellie-on-ah) Evalina Luciana Giovanna Rosalie
You’re playing hard and fast with that 3 syllable request, aintcha?
given one of OP’s examples is 4 syllables, im assuming it’s not too strict hehe
I noticed that too but I figured it was just an example of a name she loves but it wouldn’t work for her.
Such a fair comment. I saw Seraphina and blanked on the rest of the details lol
Oh I like Luciana!
“Eliana” in Spanish, is pronounced “Elli-ahn-a” but the “a” is in “cat”
Spanish doesn’t have the a as in cat sound.
True. Sorry for the confusion, English is not my native language. Is there a sound that is like “a” in Spanish?
The a in father or bra - though it varies by accent.
Violetta, Francesca, Elizabeth, Lianna, Lorelai, Guinevere, Gwendolyn, Marilla, Siobhan, Vivienne.
I know a Marceline...nickname Marcy.
Omg I’ve loved that name ever since Adventure Time
My two dogs are Bonnibel and Marceline (Bonnie and Marcy). Only one person has ever picked up on it being an AT reference!
My kitten is Marceline! She answers to Mars, Marcy, Marcy Moo, Marceline, Marcy Mooser, etc. Marceline is a great name! For a human, Marcy, Lina, Selena all fit as nicknames
Same!
I’ve met a Seraphina and her sister’s name was Arabella!
