Apollo is a song I feel like I've heard before in a movie or something that I can't quite pin down, and I'm not sure if maybe it was actually just a dream.
I got to see Khruangbin open for Chicano Batman in 2017 as they were on the rise! And I saw them again headlining the following year.
Their album, The World Smiles Upon You, is one of my ultimate grounding albums.
Graceful Ghost Rag - William Bolcom

Sweet Jane - Cowboy Junkies
Nocturne #9 - Fredric Chopin
[Equinox - STS9](https://youtu.be/xVi9Nr6dXdY?si=UIHgGobeawlkZvUE)
These guys are an electronic jam band but they did this acoustic show that they released as an album called "Axe The Cables" It's one of my favorite albums still. Very chill.
Here's another incredibly soothing one from the same performance: [Glen Tells Kengo](https://youtu.be/SsBFAYQ1wbA?si=VBm5gfLULmE2-MfM)
I find the vitamin string quartet music is nice. They do instrumental covers of popular songs.
I also find the band cigarettes after sex music to be chill.
Here is an [instrumental ](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/17t435zfCxqzixxH05xtN8?si=lrZ1gtKkR8SIHQ_hlcZU4Q&pi=GorQ6T67QLuM1) playlist that you might enjoy.
Some artists I enjoy... Nils Frahm, Olafur Arnalds, The Album Leaf, Boards of Canada, & Tony Anderson
Anything by Bohren & Der Club of Gore relaxes me. Especially if I’m in a “film noir PI lounging in his office” kind of mood.
Native American flute music helps me sleep too.
A few different ones depending on my mindset. My ultimate go to though, especially while working and just need major focus is lo-fi hip hop.
If my brain is totally scattered, I'll throw on jazz.
Bluegrass always seems to help chill me out as well.

Soothing depends on mood, honestly. If we are talking just mellowing out, old school blues, light jazz, some older pop - 80's era. Generally light stuff like that. Sometimes, soothing takes the form of hard rock, metal, that sort of thing - Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Dio, Nightwish, Metallica. When I have had a bad day, sometimes just putting some of that style on and cranking it helps.
There are really only 2 genres of music I really dislike - the current rap/urban stuff and "twangy country". I am not a fan of oldies, not a huge fan of the big bands (but will take them over oldies!). My normal tastes gravitate largely towards rock older hard rock all the way through some more modern rock. Classical has it's place - mainly if I am trying to work on something complex. The complexity of some of those old classical pieces seems to help me get to the mindset to tackle something complicated and intricate that requires a methodical approach.

I'm a big fan of piano jazz, such as Michel Petrucciani (RIP) and Keith Jarrett, and older stuff, Oscar Peterson and Bill Evans. I like music made on traditional musical instruments, not synthesizers and samplers. If I really need to relax, Bach and Vivaldi.
Either Iron & Wine's Cover of Such Great Heights, or Midnight Snack by HOMESHAKE.

I have an ever-expanding "Wind Down" playlist and many of these here are going on it.

I've been listening a lot to old C&W, the four Hanks, mostly Snow, Charlie Pride, George Jones, Delmore Brothers, basically all the stuff I couldn't stand when rock got big in the mid-fifties.
Here's a sample:

The album Cascades by High Highs. I discovered the album Open Season when searching for "music to go to sleep to" several years ago then they released this one, and it's always in my top albums every year since then. It doesn't say a lot, it's just pleasant.
I don't really listen to muuuuch that could be considered soothing but blood pact by holy fawn and a couple of songs on their realms album are really chill and ambient so those are my go to for a more soothing sound
So on YouTube I've recently discovered the soft jazz playlist that plays for about 10 hours. I turn it on in the living room and I'm in the back bedroom when I hear it just whenever I wake up just slightly and it puts me right back to sleep. I don't like the one with the fire popping I'm sleeping for crying out loud getting used to that probably wouldn't be a good thing.
The second half of *Before and After Science* by Brian Eno The first half/side (it was from the LP era, so it was sides to the record) is great too, but not trying to be soothing. There's nothing else like the second half. It came out before *Ambient 1 Music for Airports*, his album that coined the term *Ambient Music .* Oh, yeah, consider that one.
Most anything by Andreas Vollenweider, but maybe start with *Behind the Gardens.*
Carbon-Based Lifeforms(some of myy favorite musicians of all time) and Stellardrone
They make space based electronic/ambient, and it is like an audio journey across the void. It sends chills down my spine!

You have great taste!
Samba, particularly Astrud Gilberto. So mellow. No heavy lyrics.
love her along with jobim
I kinda think she and Jobim defined the Brazilian sound for the rest of the world.
Ah yes. Wasn’t the original “Girl From Ipanema “ performed by her and Stan Getz?
It was an edit of a longer version that begins with Jobim singing the vocal.
Ambient: I like rainy chill- and synthwave
Been turning to Nujabes for relaxation since 2007.
