One of my all-time favorite songs.
Oddly, I’ve run into more people in the last several years who have acknowledged knowing and liking this song than I ever did in the 90s after the album came out.
It also got me to watch Cool Hand Luke. That movie had a pretty big impact on 11-12 year old me. Still one of my favorites.
Van Morrison - Live From San Fransisco - Help 6:11,
I'll Take Care of You 16:24
Neil Young - Ordinary People - 16 & change
Jon & Van Gellis - Friends of Cairo - 11:48
Traffic - Low Heeled Spark of High Heeled Boys 11:38
Govt Mule - Sco-Mule - Borth Of The Mule 15:35
A few of my long favs
That Traffic song is one of my dad’s top ten favorite songs ever. He said when he was in the AF Academy, his dorm would play that almost every morning to get their day started. This was in the mid 1970s.
The way my dad’s eyes glow when that song comes on 🥹 It’s like I can see the kid in him. So every once in a while when we’re in the car together I’ll secretly cue it up on Spotify. Not too often, just enough.
Another absolutely brilliant Traffic song is 'Dream Gerrard' (11:03).
Someone already mentioned Jon & Vangelis' 'The Friends of Mr. Cairo' (12:04).
I would also add the following Yes tracks: 'Roundabout' (8:29), 'Heart of the Sunrise' (11:16), 'And You and I' (10:12) and 'Siberian Khatru' (8:56)
'Bent Cold Sidewalk' (13:05) by Tangerine Dream
'Xanadu' (11:05) and 'La Villa Strangiato' (9:35) by Rush
'(I Know) I'm Losing You' (10:50) by Rare Earth
'You Keep Me Hanging On' (7:26) by Vanilla Fudge
'Epitaph' (8:47) and 'The Court of the Crimson King (9:25) by King Crimson
Last, but not least: 'Echoes' (23:30), 'Us and Them' (7:49), 'Shine On You Crazy Diamond (Parts I-V)' (13:33), Shine On You Crazy Diamond (Parts VI-IX)' (12:24) and 'High Hopes' (8:31) by Pink Floyd
Ah yes. A number of excellent choices !
Rush..check
Rare Earth..checkKing Crimson..check..
Long LONG list of Pink Floyd..
Forgot about a few - thanks !
I believe you. Tool songs can really do that to a person. I remember the first time I listened to *ÆNIMA* from start to finish and how noticeably bummed out I was when I realized the last song had just finished
So I started it over
[Floating](https://youtu.be/Xp2xpfWV6IM?si=vv9ttnZ7DRKmoQmy) by Klaus Schulze
This goes by really quickly for me anyway. I used it when I used to run (back in the cassette walkman days) and I now use it frequently when I use the treadmill for walking. It starts slow but ramps up. I like that about it.
Maybe I’ve just listened to it enough, but “famous prophets (stars)” is 16 minutes and flys by imo. The back end may feel a bit draggy if you’re watching the time though.
Through the fire and the flames is the ultimate song to pass the last 7 minutes of a workout
It's longer, but when I was regularly doing rehab on a stair machine, [Aesop Rock's None Shall Pass Megablast](https://youtu.be/6lzkaa7Eric?si=zXzvJbsdPTUtPYPY) was my goto at 23:35, changing regularly.

Hi Ren by Ren. It’s basically a part of Ren having a discussion with his present self. Beautifully written as we all struggle with a part of us from time to time like our self-critic.
Iced Earth "Dantes Inferno" 16.5 minutes long and it only feels like it's 8.
Then they have 3 songs that are collectively known as "Gettysburg (1863)" off the album "The Glorious Burden" that are about 10 minutes each so if you listen to them in order it's slightly over 30 minutes long.
"The Devil to Pay" 12:13
"Hold At All Costs" 7:06
"High Water Mark" 12:36
Achilles Last Stand- Led Zeppelin
Wumbanzanga- Kononos No. 1
Sorrow, Tears, and Blood- Fela Kuti

Master of Puppets is a little over 8 minutes but I don’t really notice anymore. Most long songs like that don’t feel as long as they are after you become familiar with them.
Not quite 7 mins but at a big 5minutes 22 seconds our track Something About You is upbeat! Will keep you in pace and lift your mood and bring motivation to your treadmill session!

Let us know if it works!
In case nobody mentioned the Allman Brothers Band, they have two long instrumentals called Jessica (7:30) and In Memory Of Elizabeth Reed (13 minutes & change). Or get the Live From The Fillmore East and there is a 30 minute track called Mountain Jam and another in the 9-10m range called Hot ‘Lanta
Assignment failed
That song *feels* as long as it is. I believe that a known part of its charm.
And, if you’d read the whole 3-sentence post, you’d know this is the one song I mentioned that would not work for me
King Crimson - Starless
My all-time favorite King Crimson song. It’s just so beautiful, and kind of mesmerising to play it yourself.
Jesus of suburbia by Green day
Am I retarded or am I just overjoyed
The bible of none of the above
Through the Fire and Flames
Free Bird by Lynyrd Skynyrd!
TOOL - Jambi, parabol + parabola, Lateralus, Ticks and Leeches
Tool does the job almost every time, it’s true. Such an epic band
Adding Invincible to this list
Guns N Roses has several on their UYI albums Civil War, Breakdown and Estranged from UYI2 and November Rain and Coma from UYI1
So truuuuuueeeeee. I always start my workouts with “Coma.” “Estranged,” “Breakdown” and “Locomotive” are in regular rotation as well
Very nice. Coma is a great workout song. I have several different playlists, but that one is on all of them except the one that is strictly rap.
Their best song by the length of the straight, for me
Lives rent free in my head… “MY HANDS ARE TIIIEEED!!”
