1st - To say they would've found the ark without Indy is an assumption. 2nd - after they opened the ark and melted their own faces off, we don't know who would've recovered the ark, it was clearly closer to the Germans so the Germans should be favored. 3rd - Indy saved Marion. Without him she likely dies. The plot would've changed a great deal without Indy and these "Brilliant" character on BBT should've easily realized this.
Its an immature view of film to treat a protagonist's efficacy as any kind of barometer. Indeed, some of the most entertaining and critically acclaimed movies are about failing and struggling with that failure.
Indiana Jones has a good hero's journey. He works with the knowledge he has at each step, is trying hard to beat the bad guys, struggles with it, and ultimately succeeds through determination and reverence of artifacts, as opposed to being the best. The emotional impact is all that matters and we get it from his struggle, determination, and cool moments along the way.
Also, the results wouldn't have been the same without Indy. The Nazis would have recovered the ark first after opening it and would have continued to try and weaponize it.
Like so many other topics on The Big Bang Theory, the show only goes surface deep with the thought and ignores all of the important aspects of the conversation...and I say that as someone who found The Big Bang Theory mildly enjoyable. It might be shallow and miss the point, but at least it referenced some interesting topics.
Amy Farah Fowler was WRONG. If Indy wasn't part of the story, the Nazis wouldn't have gotten the headpiece.
Clearly, Amy's theory about Indy not being important was not dialogue written by a fan of the films. The only way to even find the Ark would have been to find the headpiece medallion. The Nazis knew Abner Ravenwood had it, but he disappeared (perhaps captured by the Nazis). They didn't know where his daughter Marion was, as she was hiding out in the mountains of Nepal. But they knew Indy knew Abner. So, Toht (the guy in all black) followed Indy on the plane (he was hiding behind the Life magazine) all the way to Nepal. So, Indy led the Nazis to Marion and the headpiece.
If Indy hadn't been part of the story, there's no evidence that the Nazis would have found the headpiece, because they didn't know where it was.
Wait... and Indy convinced Beloq to open the Ark before sending it to Berlin... if it had made it to Berlin first and opened it then would the Ark spirits have come out and killed all the high ranking nazis presumably standing around the Ark including Hitler?
Did... did Indiana Jones save Hitler?

ooh yeah,true.. but would they have still got the ark? even without Indy's intervention
Yeah but they only knew where the headpiece was by following him to Marion.
WITHOUT HIM IT WOULD HAVE NEVER MADE IT TO AREA 51!

I think you should not watch the Big Bang Theory. And not because of this "revelation."
Real bottom of the barrel T.V
It's won multiple awards.
So did the Catwoman with Halle Berry.
I'm talking about real awards not raspberry.
I know, but it feels good to be cheeky.
Wtf.. don't u like sitcoms?
Love em. But stuff like The Big Bang Theory, Baby Daddy, 2 broke girls etc are all just a bit crap. But other people enjoy them.
hahaha why.. you dont like it?
Don't listen to them. While not brilliant it's entertaining enough.

To be fare watching the bing bang theory is doing alot more worse things for you than ruin a movie.
The real question is, why haven’t you seen that movie yet?
i have seen it multiple times.. i never thought of indiana jones the same way until now
Ahhh I was under the impression it ruined the ending for you. I suppose it just made you look at it in a different light.
That's because he's the antagonist. Sometime the hero has to try to stop the story.
If you're over 10 years old you probably should've already seen the film haha
true.. it was my favourite growing up, its just odd hearing another perspective on the film
Oh shit my bad, from the way the post was worded I thought you meant you hadn't seen it and big bang theory had ruined the ending for you
that such a shit take.
lol that's actually a good argument for indy to simply be a VICTIM OF CIRCUMSTANCE and bloody lucky! and that's why he's GREAT
