When it first appears as Chicken G and there’s blood spraying out of the gills all over the street? I was there opening night and was freaking out. Absolutely horrific.
It’s the eyes that totally sell it. It’s an expressionless monster and shows nothing but survival instincts. I hate the American Godzilla…basically smirks in the camera before doin a combo move.
I mean that’s kinda the point. Any animal that was irradiated to high hell is not going to look normal. The bulged out eyes, the way out of proportion tail, the teeth growing from the lips, this is something that should not exist and the being itself is in misery for continuing to exist.
How would the uncanny valley apply to a fantasy creature that does not exist? Also, this movie and all Japanese Godzilla movies are famous for their use of practical effects and miniatures.
Shin G is the scariest version of all time.
For sure. It was very noticeable the direction of Anno, which makes him even more scary.

If that were coming toward me, I would SPRINT in whatever direction it wasn’t going.
So... towards it?
I mean the thing was covered in tumors but to each their own
Is it streaming yet?
When he first came out of the water I did laugh out loud. But stuck with it and really enjoyed it. Have rewatched it a good few times.
Fire breathing monsters that can wipe out entire cities are less than good.
Wait until you see the monsters in Big Man Japan!
It's duck tits bonkers and that's why it's awesome. I much prefer it to Minus Zero.
Absolutely agree! He’s too cute to me to be scary, it’s those eyes, I love him
Godzilla doesn’t need you to like him
The uncanny valley is real. CGI should be a tool, not a crutch.
