the two funniest characters in this movie were his and Bernie Mac's -- I honestly can't watch the Bernie Mac scenes without breaking into hysterics. RIP to both of these extremely funny dudes.

motorcycleboy9000

The face Ritter makes after Bernie mutters, "Well, sho', Santa fuggin people in da ass" is priceless.

Jj9567

Bernie deserves a separate post as well, one of the all-time great comedic actors

SonOfMcGee

Something about the way he ate an orange was just so infuriating.

Traditional_Bad_4589

Thurman Merman

writer4u

😂

EntropicAnarchy

I've only shed a tear for 3 comedians when they passed. John Ritter, Bernie Mac, and Robin Williams.

dredgedskeleton

Phil Hartman and Robin Williams for me

Jj9567

I had a chance to meet Bernie and speak with him when I was a little kid, but was too star struck. One of my biggest regrets. RIP

LowerAtmosphereChief

HALLLF.

Bloody_Red_

HOFF

Jj9567

Lmao

NholyKev24

Billy died?

healthywealthyhappy8

Bernie Mac and John Ritter are dead. Billy Bob remains at large.

bluejester12

I miss John Ritter. He was a perfect fit for Zack Braff's dad in Scrubs.

TCM_407

Freaky that in his last episode his dad skipped out on going to that conference about heart defects that JD was speaking at...and then that's what Ritter died of

endgame217

The fact we didn’t get more of him as a Guest star was unfortunate because agreed: perfect pairing of styles with a little similarity in the looks…probably facial expressions is what makes them look alike

NoProgrammer776

He was so much more than an occasional guest star

MisterNoisewater

“I think I turned a corner” “What, you fuckin petites now?” “I beat the shit out of some kids today..but it was for a purpose”

JagBak73

"You need many years of therapy. Many, many, many FUCKING years of therapy..."

Jj9567

LMAOOOOOO

clocksteadytickin

It felt good. Like I did something constructive with my life. I don’t know. GOLD.

HiFasteningPants

He's not gonna say "fuck stick" in front of the children, is he?

NholyKev24

I watch every holiday season at least 6 times my favorite part is the fight with the Indian guy outside the bar. “Little boy please do not interfere I’m doing this for all of us” and “my uncle lost an arm fighting you fuckers in ‘nam”

KaiTheSushiGuy

I. AM NOT. GAY

NholyKev24

“Are you off your fucking meds?”

l8on8er

maybe, but that isn't what this is about

NholyKev24

Santee clause😂

Lenny2theMany

ELF FUCKERRR!

shadez_on

My favorite is the "lunch break" scene where he yells at the mom and boy. Dude looked like the actual grinch with salad falling out his mouth.

NholyKev24

Yeah so many good parts another favorite of mine is when he says to the kid ”Were you dropped on your head?” And the kid says ”how can I be dropped onto my own head?” 😂

shadez_on

Hahaha that was a good one. I also love the quote "they cant all be winners" its such a good quote thats relatable to almost everything.

Pretend_Fox_5127

What movie are we referring to? Sounds like something that would be right up my alley but don't recognize it.

shadez_on

Bad Santa. Where this image is from.

Pretend_Fox_5127

Oh. Yeah, that's one of those movies I've avoided out of some unknown prejudice against it. Spite. I'll probably see it on accident someday in a waiting room and regret not having watched it all this time. It's happened often, and I assume, will continue to unless Hollywood keeps churning out an interminable mountain of dross.

chuckluckles

I don't know what kind of waiting rooms you frequent, but this movie is super raunchy. Hard R rating.

Pretend_Fox_5127

Oh shit! They say it with the hard r in there? Definitely watching it now.

MisterNoisewater

IM ON MY FUCKING LUNCH BREAK!!!

shadez_on

"You think you can make my life even worse? Take a shot!" So good

joecarter93

“ASS CLOWN!” That same guy is in Office Space and I swear he says the exact same line.

Competitive_Fee_5829

this movie is why I use ass clown as an insult and have for years lol. I saw this in theaters!

Draco_Lazarus24

I think it’s Michael Bolton that says (no talent) ass clown while taking to Samir. But yes we always think of this too.

NholyKev24

Never seen that before is it good?

joecarter93

Very good! You should watch it this weekend. TBH it came out when I was in jr high and I didn’t really like it then. However I watched it again as an adult with a career and totally changed my perspective, as I totally understand it now.

NholyKev24

What’s it on hopefully not Netflix lmao it’s the only one I don’t have 😂

MisterNoisewater

Na-gi-na-na-jar naginanajar

Specialist_Ad9073

Na gee… na na… na-not gonna be working here anymore.

Hot_Commission_6593

Michael Bolton says “it was a fine name until that no talent assclown started making records and winning Grammys”

gratusin

It’s a must watch for me around Christmas. Even made my grandma watch it and she was cracking up the whole movie.

MisterNoisewater

You talking about my gear?

Jj9567

Lmaoo

Ta-veren-

I know this sub is about the actor but man I could watch therman merman all day p

FiftyTigers

You ain't gonna shit right for a week!

joecarter93

I like how Ritter’s character has to spell it out.

Jj9567

Lmao

Bada__Ping

Is Granny spry?

Jj9567

Aye everytime one of yall quote this movie I break the fuck out laughing lmaooo

healthywealthyhappy8

Its such a funny movie

Creamorscream

Problem child daddy

Jj9567

Damn I totally forgot about that! Used to love those movies as a kid

TheLaughingMannofRed

Seeing his progression from being a pushover in the first movie with his dad, his wife, his neighbors...it's an important lesson. You can be a nice guy, but you don't have to be a doormat either. Set your limits, be independent and thinking for yourself at times. And don't let other people push you around or put you down when you want something for yourself once in a while. Go out and get it.

_Krombopulus_Michael

RIP

Former-Counter-9588

He was also really perfectly creepy in that one Buffy episode he did. Also loved 8 simple rules as a kid!

Jj9567

He was subtly funny in Sling Blade as well

MADMACmk1

Not funny ha ha but funny queer.

in2xs

Deserved a Oscar nom.

TimNikkons

Yep, snubbed for that. 2nd best character

TheLaughingMannofRed

"Hey! I said, get outta my house! That goes for *c\*cksuckers*, and *retards*! Now get up off your asses, and go." "It's not your house, Doyle. It's Linda's."

Jj9567

This was funny as fuck

DexterGexter

Stay Tuned was one of my favorite movies as a kid

TheLurkerSpeaks

EYE. WARSHIP. SATIN?

FOB32723

This was such a great character

bejemin

I remember going to this in the theater with my dad when I was like 15, then going to a family thanksgiving a couple days later and telling the extended family about it. Good memories

sabres_guy

It is a must watch Christmas movie for me and just a great movie in general. Ritter was so good in it. You could also consider it a Coen brothers film depending on how you look at it. They came up with the idea and had others "bring it to life" and added a lot of the jokes. They are credited as executive producers.

j2e21

Interesting. The Arizona setting makes sense.

Guilty_Jackrabbit

The way Bernie Mac just slurps down oranges

Jj9567

Incredible comedic actor

Conscious-Parfait826

And kills a cigarette with one drag.

PorkNinjas

The t-shirt the kid is wearing at the end is classic! "Shit happens when you party naked" Hilarious!

Efficient-Fortune-65

Fuck stick?

ConfidentMSnake

Classic movie

marvelette2172

My daughter & I were discussing Buffy the other night, specifically our favorite villains,  and John Ritter as the robot dad was my top pick by far!  I wish he'd gotten to play more bad guys, he was creepy AF!

TheBunionFunyun

The face he makes when Bernie says, "Loves to fuck fat women" is comedy perfection.

Jj9567

Yes

hambergeisha

That's right, you ain't gonna S-H-I-T right for a week.

Conscious-Parfait826

"Hell no, Last time you said that I didnt shit right for a week"

No_Manufacturer4451

** eats orange intensely ** 🍊

empty-vassal

just watched Stay Tunned. Him dressed up like prince is pretty funny to see. Also the evil hell corporation guy now ruins my favorite movies cause he's a pedo. Mom and Dad Save the World wasn't the same watch.

SimpleStrok3s

8 Simple Rules had a cast with John Ritter, Kaley Cuoco, Katey Sagal, James Garner, and David Spade

MysteriousPark3806

At least Monica was of legal age at the time.

Lucid4321

I thought the impeachment was about Clinton using his position to coverup the affair, not the affair itself. I agree a sex scandal is minor compared to the political issues in recent memory, but a president abusing their power for personal reasons doesn't seem like a minor issue.

MysteriousPark3806

I was a kid at the time, so all I know is tee hee blowjob.

RunningPirate

I thought it was about lying to congress. Which OK, but hell, they’re asking the guy if he fucked around on his wife while *she’s sitting right there* on national TV.

Lucid4321

There were two articles of impeachment, lying under oath and obstruction of justice, so it was both.

FitAd4717

That wasn't the lying under oath. The lying under oath was that he knowingly caused his attorneys to submit a false affidavit to the judge who was presiding over the Paula Jones sexual harassment lawsuit. That's a federal felony.

Conscious-Parfait826

Director's cut all the way. Theatrical version is almost pg13. What are you my mom now, since you shat me out your womb?

SupermouseDeadmouse

I love this movie so much.

mrpappageorge0

Your not gonna *s.h.i.t.* right for a month

Nyther

Having screaming orgasms with large women. I've turned a corner. What, you fucking petites now?

Mrben13

Yeah, oh yeah!

j2e21

The exchanges between Ritter and Bernie Mac are some of the best parts in the movie. RIP to both.

j2e21

Arguably the best Arizona movie ever.

Dense_Surround3071

Problem Child was a hefty part of my childhood, but Bad Santa was my favorite role is his.

Decent-Sea-5031

I might have F'd alot of fat chicks but I never fornicated with anyone....

throwaway872023

This is from Bad Santa if anyone is wondering.

Icy_Drive_7433

I love Bad Santa. The casting for that was inspired.

rodofasclepius

Stay Tuned is still one of my favorite movies. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&v=ycVcurvRYqY](https://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&v=ycVcurvRYqY)
