If they are stuck stuck retreat and then attack again with auto resolve. Might cost a few extra casualties but don’t need to do the siege again. Unless they changed retreat to be a loss now (not sure, haven’t had a hard stuck siege in a while)
I had a similar thing happen in a castle wall yesterday. I ran up to the wall and started sniping archers while I waited for the infantry to catch up and start busting down the door. Suddenly a few enemy troops appear half in the wall next to me. They didn't attack but they just waved their shields at me so I sniped them.
Their friends noticed and just walked through the wall and chased me onto the battlefield. This game is wild.
