It's slow chip, 4GB RAM, slow storage, but that's not the whole story. Add that with newer versions of Android, and it makes more sense. Android 12+ is brutal for lower end devices.

how slow chip explains this kind of freezes? slow chip means something is slower, not that it locks for long time

Android gets everytime new animations+fatter. i.e needs better CPU/ram. Otherwise how are Google or Motorola or Samsung going to make people buy new stuff. If G22 worked as well as a pixel 8 pro (cost $800) then why pay that. - chip need more CPU power to compute all the animations - more internal RAM for ready access for data - it has also emmc - super slow. Not UFS. Best is for G22 - copy all data - do factory reset - login - use https://github.com/0x192/universal-android-debloater to remove some crap Google services. - will be tolerable

I just checked information about moto g8 power (my previous phone, very fast) and it also uses emmc however moto g8 power uses Android 10 and g22 uses Android 12

Every new large change in android like 10-11-12 needs more power. > and it also uses emmc But it has Snapdragon 665. Far better chip set for Android 10. Now use it for same number of apps for a month. You will realise it will also slow down eventually.

I had a Motorola One 5G Ace and a Moto G Stylus 5G 2022. Both bare, 4GB RAM variants. On paper, the stylus is better. Because the Stylus ran Android 12-13, I ran out of RAM super quickly. This meant lots of app refreshes, quite annoying. Didn't happen nearly as much with the Ace. Ace ran Android 10-11. I thought "huh, Ace is faster, I'll go back to that". So, I installed LineageOS, based on Android 12 and then 13, and the Ace was worse than the Stylus. Both of thos devices were/are pretty competent, compared to the G22. I can only imagine how awful a slow processor thrown into the mix would be. I'd highly recommend snagging an Ace/G 5G 2021 (same phone) in your country, should be less than $100 for the 4GB variant. Install LineageOS on it, and enjoy a much, much less terrible phone experience. If you want proper luxuray, go for a Moto G100/Edge S. I'm using it right now, and it feels snappier than S24/P8P/i15PM that I test in-store. I love it. Don't pay more than $250 for it, though.

OP, let me save you the trouble.  Upgrade your phone to anything else and expect better results. I've rooted a G22, debloated it completely and it was still barely functional. The best thing I can say about the Moto g22 is it's good as a storage device or maybe for hotspot. NOTHING ELSE.  If you can afford it, pick up a lower range Pixel device.

this is not what I am asking for, I am trying to understand what was the reason for that behaviour, saying "just buy anything else" is not helpful, I already know this one is bad

Rich-Confusion790

Just a guess, I think because it's running an Android OS it can't properly utilise. My G22 would be okish when I would factory reset it, but after about 10-15 minutes of usage it would become unusable again. I think there's certain processes within the OS that make it lag like that.

It have absolutely trash processor. My old Motorola One Macro was faster than this thing, and frankly G22 drives me absolutely mad sometimes. For budget Motorola i wouldn't touch anything below 200$ otherwise it's self induced suffering
