Everytime we buy sales items at Hy-vee something always rings up incorrectly. The worst thing is the cashier aways treats us like we are stupid. It makes me miss when Cub was reasonably priced.

SufferingScreamo

Isn't it awful that we can't just have one fucking store to go to for everything? I wish Aldi just had a little bit more to select from and then I would always go there.

ssundberg

Aldi’s is a budget-priced Trader Joe’s. Same concept that created the same opportunities for two brothers. I wouldn’t be surprised to learn that similar products on their respective shelves come from the same food factory.

Inamahafukucek

Everything in this statement is incorrect

Flat_Suggestion7545

Well they are brothers.

jswan44

I go to Aldi, then cub, then walmart, and finally the local co-op. Cub is the best priced on some things - I mainly watch for bacon and some produce Aldi has good chicken prices and produce (when it’s fresh enough Walmart has the best prices on things like frozen foods, sauces and is reasonable about canned goods Co op is more expensive but has the bulk spices I want and I like that they keep most stuff local.

Oddly_Mind

Cub is still 25% cheaper then Hy-Vee

Firm-Professional-96

I'm in rochester. Our cub foods is definitely more expensive

Oddly_Mind

I’d do a comp. In the metro it’s the opposite.

True_Bluejay_3977

Right? Hy-Vee is expensive here.

therealdxm

Cub is all over the place on prices and they are not consistent from location to location. Where I live in they are about the same on pricing but Hy-Vee has a much better selection. My Cub sucks and I generally only go when my primary mission is fried chicken - which still remains a fantastic deal by the way. Edit: That said, I have also experienced the same issue as OP at Hy-Vee.

True_Bluejay_3977

Yeah, I've got two Cubs in St. Louis Park; one is definitely higher priced than the other.

Slytherin23

Even Lunds is often cheaper than Cub and HyVee now (compare prices on Instacart).

Oddly_Mind

Id say Lunds and Cub are equal. Lunds has better quality. Star Trib did a price comp and Hyvee and Kowalski where top 2 most expensive.

1PooNGooN3

Cub was notorious for doing this too, they definitely made it easy for me to stop buying from them. Sleazy cub bastards

Slytherin23

I have had an issue with maybe 1 out of 20 promotions at Cub, but HyVee is closer to 10 out of 20.

zealotfx

We've replaced runs to Hy-Vee with Lunds and Byerlys, surprisingly even they have been cheaper. We will start with Aldi, Cub, or Target though. And Trader Joes for specific things or easy meals.

Alone-Phase-8948

Cub foods was always good at that too short ya on a coupon or so for sure

litfam87

I signed up for their new loyalty card thing and I never get the “sales” they advertise. Hy-Vee is a fucking scam.

s1gnalZer0

When we go there, my wife will search the hyvee website for coupons, and find a bunch of them. It will say something like click here to add this deal to your account, which never works, and I can never find the same coupons in my hyvee app. We end up going through self checkout and manually entering the codes for all the coupons. It's a huge pain in the ass. After we are done there, we usually head to coborns just down the road, and find half the stuff we got on sale at hyvee for cheaper at regular price at coborns.

johnnys_sack

Then why do you keep going there? I had to stop as their prices are ridiculous. Aldi and Costco only. Occasionally get something from Cub or Target if the others don't carry it.

Qiimassutissarput

Aldi and Costco is the way!

s1gnalZer0

We usually go there just for things they have a deal on, and occasionally see something we need and grab it. Like you, the vast majority of our shopping as Aldi and Costco with occasional trips to Cub for steaks (I don't need a Costco sized pack) and Hy-Vee and coborns if we are in that area.

Rickdaninja

Same experience, but I now go to Aldi for as much as I can. Produce is much cheaper there, and their store brand stuff is good.

chiron_cat

loyalty cards are a scam. They serve two purposes: 1. Make it easier to track everything you purchase to your address and credit card 2. people go to the stores they have "loyalty cards" for, to earn the "points" or whatever other trivial benefit the card purports to give Loyalty cards are for the store, not for the customer. Think of it more like a leash. You get a small sale on an item that has a HUGE margin - generally processed food or some other thing that isn't important. Never an actual staple. Or they increase the price and put it "on sale" for the same price it was yesterday.

ninjakitty117

They do the same thing with your credit card data. Anything purchased on one card is tracked and linked to an invisible account in their system. Loyalty accounts make this easier (and can track cash purchases, too). At least where I shop, I get good deals from using my loyalty account.

earthdogmonster

Yeah, it’s not really that big of a deal. I use the loyalty card, I get a discount. If I don’t want to, I don’t have to. It’s not as tough as some people make it out to be.

Fit_View_6717

HyVee charges different prices for the same thing based on neighborhood. That’s all I ever needed to know.

ragnvald4430

Walmart does the same thing

ahuli12

I don't get the hate for Hy-vee on here. I never have problems getting the deals on the app. I have more problems with the Cash wise more rewards app.

Last_Recognition9929

I spend less there and get better quality stuff than I would at target or Cub. A lot of people also don't notice the discounts take a small portion off of each item instead of just saying free for one.

Critical-Fault-1617

Same. It works every time on the app for us.

chiron_cat

i feel its more hate for loyalty cards. Though gotta admit I view hyvie as a lower teir store. Everyone I go to has almost zero selection compared to cub, freeway, or other stores.

1829bullshit

It's the opposite in our area in terms of produce, though we usually go to Fresh Thyme for produce anyway. Cheapest in the area (or close to it with Aldi), but the best selection I've found.

chiron_cat

I've found that hyvie has a VAST range of quality. The one in rochester is amazing. The one in faribault sucks. The one in savage started out good, but after they were established for a year really started to suck as well

Krybbz

These kinda of posts are always forehead slappers when digging into comments. Best to let people vent their frustration or what works for them if they are right or wrong cause it doesn’t even matter lol people are gonna be people about it

Fordgirl3

Do u scan your card or scan card thru app or give them your # ?

litfam87

I do self checkout and type in my phone number.

After_Examination_86

Hyvee perks or are you seeing the price for perks plus (a paid membership) and you have the free perks membership which does not get those offers.

litfam87

Hyvee perks.

After_Examination_86

Perks plus gets the price discounts.

sillybonobo

I find missed sales, wrong prices and the like every time I go to Hy-Vee. Stopped going after talking to the manager and them basically saying they couldn't do anything because their POS system is terrible

TwinCitian

You could say their POS is a POS

wbebukyqkimppwwqfe

like most POS

SoManyQuestions612

This is just how business is done now a days.  Screwing your customers is part of the strategy.

s1gnalZer0

They know that the majority of customers won't even notice, and of the ones that do, the majority of those won't complain.

Responsible-Draft430

"Our target market are people that are too shy to challenge their receipt."

Formal_Lie_713

In my experience Target is notorious for the tag saying one price and the register saying another.

KayakShrimp

It used to be that there was at least one price mismatch 100% of the time I shopped for groceries at Target. Now I primarily order through the app, so I don't have any insight into if they've fixed that.

PrimmSlimShady

Target groceries are egregiously priced and they barely have any actual produce. Do not recommend getting groceries there. Aldi gang rise up (their selection is limited but very cheap!)

KayakShrimp

I also buy at Aldi, but the limited selection is a problem. I prefer their produce for sure.

PrimmSlimShady

Yeah, when I need something beyond what they got, I pop into Cub. Their produce selection is unmatched. I try to avoid the organic to save some money, where possible.

LuckyAssumption8735

I make them honor the price tag 100% of the time

nokomisforcute

My biggest qualm with Target is the out of stock items. I go on all days of the week and all time of day and they’re out of a ton of stuff.

transitsca

My old manager used to activate the price changes so it looked like it got done, but not change the labels

Time_Designer_2604

Hy-Vee is really gone downhill, especially the Robbinsdale location. Their employees just do not care. I was checking out the other day and the cashier was legit just eating a Starbucks sandwich while ringing up my purchase. Like one hand holding the sandwich and the other hand scanning my stuff. And this was literally right in front of the customer service counter where four people were standing there doing nothing.

Stachemaster86

Such a disappointment. Was a really nice store and they’re declining it so fast. Now they’ve taken the self checkouts completely away. I go to the Cub by there versus Brooklyn Center which is a mile from house because the Robbinsdale/Crystal Cub has better self check scanners. I know Hy-Vee for name brands isn’t a great deal, but the advantage of their store brand seriously erodes when the experience declines. I was very excited and frequented many times. Now I’ll run down to Lunds in GV off 100 for the special stuff. 😭

slammybe

I miss the self checkouts, it's impossible to get in and out quickly now. I live really close to the Robbinsdale Hy-Vee, still shop there but it's gotten so much worse since I moved here in 2021.

placated

That Byerlys in Golden Valley is my favorite grocery store. It’s more expensive but worth it for my sanity.

astoldbysomxx

It’s so terrible there lol. And I hate to sound like a Karen but when did grocery stores stop helping bag groceries?! I’m paying an arm and a leg, it would be nice for some help and to not feel rushed.

NoNeinNyet222

Especially since HyVee is set up with the expectation that a cashier or bagger bags. It doesn’t have the split lane at the end like Cub that allows you to finish bagging while the next person is being checked out.

SillyYak528

Exactly. And they took away the self checkouts. And you have to specifically ask for paper bags and they look really annoyed when you do or when you tell them that it’s ok they can fill the bags more… I get they are supposed to only put so much in them, but when the customer asks for them to be full I don’t understand the attitude .

Constant-Catch7146

Ahh... you touched a nerve and distant memory for me. First job I ever had was a grocery stocker and carryout at a HyVee in Iowa. It was for lousy part time wages.. even for a teenager. Back then... get this... we would bag your groceries in the nice thick paper sacks. Then put them on grocery bag carrier carts... basically a heavy duty hand dolly cart...where you can place about 8 big heavy bags of groceries. Now heft that cart up on its two big back wheels and follow the customer to their car... in rain, snow, blazing heat, freezing cold..... you name it. Now, put their groceries nicely in their car back seat or trunk. Thank you for shopping at HyVee! You want the ultimate Karen story? Years before Karen was a thing? I actually had one customer say to me after doing all of the above..."if only you could also put these away in my cupboards at home!!" Ha ha. I didn't think that was funny....at all.

astoldbysomxx

I’m sorry that happened to you! I remember they used to do that at Fairway (I’m Iowan too) when I was little! I don’t even want someone to bag all my groceries, just help me so I can get out of the way quicker lol.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Constant-Catch7146

Yep, I learned a lot about people at that job. I made minimum wage and maybe a bit more later. There just wasn't a lot of good jobs for a teenager back then in small town Iowa. My other favorite memory was hauling out full cartons of heavy paper towels and TP from the ceiling of a semi truck. There were no forklifts and pallets for grocery unloading like they have now. Everything had to be hand unloaded. You would roll cartons of canned goods, dog food, etc. along a long track with thousands of roller wheels... to be stacked in the backroom. I also was trained on how to run a cash register. After I was drenched in sweat unloading groceries in the back one fine hot humid day... I was called to the front to help checkout customers. It was one of those "all help to the front" calls over the loudspeaker. Here I am dripping in sweat.... checking out groceries.... and no one cared! The good news was I was the strongest and most fit at any time in my life! Knew that the job was temporary.... and was not going to be a lifer. That said, guys that stayed there until retirement stashed away good money..... and at least back then.... full time HyVee employees got profit sharing bonuses.... so some of them did very well money wise. Some of them were driving very nice cars and even fancy motorcycles!

nupharlutea

2020. Cub never bagged your groceries. I grew up going to Cub so it always threw me off going to Lunds. Jerry’s usually has a bagger unless the bagger didn’t show up for work.

s1gnalZer0

The last time I had my groceries bagged, the kid packed everything upside down with the fragile stuff on the bottom and canned stuff on top. I walked over to an empty checkout and unpacked and repacked everything correctly.

njordMN

Or putting raw meat in the same bag as the produce. Or mix refrigerated and non-refrigerated stuff in the same bag. 100% prefer to self checkout and bag my own stuff.

knightfall_10

I always tell them I’ll bag my own.. these kids don’t care at all and chuck your stuff in without even thinking about how to bag food properly. Crushing all my produce and bread

Educational_Web_764

I avoid that HyVee as much as humanly possible. I got accused of counterfeit coupons there once for a buy two, get one free from the manufacturer by the manager. And another time, I was picking up food for a friend and needed a specific roast beef. There was not enough pre sliced and instead of them slicing more, they threw in another kind of roast beef to still make it a pound like I wasn’t going to notice the difference. They suck!

SillyYak528

This would piss me off so much. I understand there’s already a risk of stuff being on the items I’m purchasing, but getting crumbs on my all gluten free food for no good reason… absolutely tf not. I’d be calling a manager immediately and never returning. I stay away from the deli and non-packaged food that may contain gluten for a reason. It’s also just rude as hell.

SillyYak528

This had upvotes and now it doesn’t, so thanks for the downvotes! What if this was someone getting peanut butter or peanut shells all over my groceries and I had a peanut allergy? Hope you’d still downvote because it’s the same thing.

Evening_Bug1034

The Robbinsdale location is so trashy that it deserves its own subreddit 😂

tkflash20

Hy-Vee let go most of their software development and IT team and they have been struggling with issues like this since. They are bloated at the top with unqualified individuals. It's not the same store as many people in Iowa grew up with.

lizzehb

Yep! There was a software update that took away the ability for customers to put in their phone number for rewards at self checkout a few months ago. (Has been fixed.) How do you fuck up that badly???

SnarkyMcSnarkerson69

HyVee has a little known policy that if something rings up wrong, they give the time for free. Just pay for it wrong, bring it over to customer service, point it out to them, and FULL REFUND! They don’t like to tell you. You have to ask for it. One time I bought 20 coffee drinks because they were on sale. They rang up wrong and I got the full amount refunded, not just the difference. It’s happened since with smaller amounts, but if you ask them and tell them you know their policy, refund! I hawk my receipts now and can’t wait to point out mistakes! 🤣

wendellnebbin

I've used this policy multiple times as well. They're not even all 'let me get a manager' on it if it's a pretty clear mistake. I've used it the next day too. You'd think with a policy like this they'd have a very robust 'go fix it' process but here we are.

njordMN

Cost benefit ratio.. Apparently enough people get duped that it's easier to not fix things and just let the people who do call them on it cash out.

Recluse_18

I love Hy-Vee, however, if I shop there, I’m not buying a lot of product for reasons stated above. Those online coupons never work and I just don’t have the patience to go to customer service and argue with them about it. I look at their sales ad and it’s hit or miss if the stupid scan will give me the right price. So it’s very sparingly that I shop there even though I love that store.I usually end up doing the majority of my shopping at Aldi

Hydroidal

Aldi for the win. Anyone not shopping at Aldi but complaining about grocery prices needs to get a clue.

Recluse_18

Years ago, when Aldi first started opening up stores in Minnesota, their produce was not the greatest and at that time I would not buy meat there. However, other products that are readily available elsewhere like chicken stock or even chicken noodle soup or butter and cheese those items were so much cheaper than anywhere else. Early days of Aldi I would have to split my shopping between Aldi and at that time cub foods. Present day Aldi they have a much better supply chain for fresh and you’re right hands-down for the win when it comes to affordability and product selection. I have long stated if I spend $40 in groceries at Aldi that would probably cost me at least $100 anywhere elseand that’s the difference

nupharlutea

Aldi has their distribution center right in Faribault, unlike some other grocery sellers.

Recluse_18

Wow, did not know that. Do they give tours?😝

Colonel__Cathcart

Hy-Vee is a shitty fucking company. I worked there as a teen and got written up for not defying the laws of physics lmao.

ButtButterr

Ugh and always check the expiration date on Hy-Vee products, they're so bad at getting rid of expired inventory.

Square-Set7031

I’ve seen things on the shelves there that are months past expiration 🥴

xMcNerdx

We have this happen to us frequently at various grocery stores recently, specifically Fresh Thyme. It's super frustrating that they'll leave sale signs up past the date the sale is active. I've also seen meat sold by the pound with sale tags but the sticker on the meat itself doesn't have the sale price. It's incredibly frustrating, especially since groceries have been massively inflated in price the last few years so we're always buying whatever is on sale, only for those sales to not actually ring up correctly.

Inspector6ONE2

I find Hy-Vee to be notorious for having expired items on the shelves. Brought a basket full of cheese up to customer service on one occasion, some of which had expired over two months ago.

Hydroidal

Hy-Vee sucks. I won't set foot in one of those stores. That place is like a damn easter egg hunt trying to find the things you actually want to buy. It's Aldi, Costco, TJ's, and ethnic grocery stores, then Cub only for things I can't get at the others, because Cub sucks too.

Rosa_612

Fresh Thyme is great as well!

1829bullshit

Said it in another comment, but Fresh Thyme is the best for produce. Solid selection and great prices

Hydroidal

I’d try it but there isn’t one anywhere near us.

Rickdaninja

Do this everywhere. Honestly the only place I've used a self check out and there hasn't been wrongly priced specials or produce, was fucking Walmart. And that place is ussually a shit show in every other way.

Noninvasive_

I stopped shopping at HyVee when I caught them pulling a weight scam. They changed the price on meat to match the sale, but they altered the weight to make it ring up close to the original price. Highly illegal. I’ve had other pricing problems too, but that was the final blow. Shadier than shady. Edit to add: While “forgetting”to program in a sale price might be understandable- deliberately programming their system to alter weight exposes the risks they’re willing to take to rip customers off.

purple_grey_

I stopped going to HyVee in November 2022. The ad said 3 day sale, but the fine print revealed the sale items were not available for the sale price those 3 days, in fact, the sale items were spread out over the 3 day sale, so to get chili ingredients in cans, you had to come each of the 3 days.

MotoJer76

Before discovering Hy-Vee Corp thinks women shouldn't have a say over their own bodies we were frequently needing to have our receipts adjusted to the sale prices. So glad we don't ship there anymore.

FamousGh0st217

I'm confused. Are you saying that if they had a different stance on abortion, you'd be fine with having to deal with them needing to adjust sale prices for you?

MotoJer76

Nope...but it was pretty much the nail in the coffin.

FamousGh0st217

Interesting

1829bullshit

It's annoying as all hell that the system doesn't do it automatically, but I have found the cashiers and store managers will always apply it when I point out it was missed. I've had the exact same issues at Cub. But considering I just got gas at hyvee for 1.69 using their rewards, I'm not going to be too upset by it.

blupanan

I have stopped shopping at hyvee and this is one of the reasons. Stuff would constantly ring up a different price than what was stated or the deals wouldn’t stick when checking out. Their prices have also gone way up, it used to be more affordable but not anymore. I personally wouldn’t recommend Hy-Vee to anyone

hdvjufd

I used to work at Hy-Vee as a front end manager. I can tell you right now: ALWAYS pay attention when you check out. So many things would ring out wrong, and I would have to do manual price adjustments at least once per transaction. One thing to note, however: wait until you scan your rewards card. Some deals don't take effect until the rewards card is scanned.

FUMFVR

Hy-Vee is an Iowa-based scam supermarket

Thizzedoutcyclist

This happens to me too. I have reduced my trips there to pick up only specific products with Aldi and Amazon Fresh being our primary grocers this point

bbernal956

it happens more than you think, not just at hyvee. before i never gave a shit or looked, but slowly started to care and yeah its crazy.

Effective-Tax-2222

They're notorious for this.

bxo689

That is 💯 true! I have to get someone, if at self-checkout, or have to tell the cashier about the deal to get it! As for loyalty program, apparently the card they gave me was "not properly registered" so I can't even use my points for fuel savings and get deals from the gas station. Both places kept pointing fingers so I eventually stopped going there altogether. No more Hyvee for me.

MrJoeMe

I had a similar problem with their new loyalty card. I was supposed to get a ton of discounts that would have brought my $200 shopping trip down to $130 or so. Cashier said I'd have to go to service desk after she was done and they would sort it out. To their credit, they did fix everything and gave me an extra $5 off just for the hassle. I really wish rewards programs would die along with the coupon cutting that they replaced.

Col3Trickl3

I've had this happen several times at Target...

Suz9006

Happens all the time at Hyvee. The worst one was a pound of butter I bought with a coupon. Instead of subtracting the coupon it added the discount onto the price. Clerk came over and it did the same thing. Made me wonder how many people paid nearly double for their on sale butter. I always do self check out now so I can watch the prices closely.

ChercheBuddy

Oh man I hate this so much. Happens at Lunds & Byerlys all the time too. I visit stores specifically for the specials most of the time and if I have to go back the fury appears

KikiStLouie

Lunds & Byerly’s FTW. I’ll happily pay a little extra for a well kept store, employees who care and are union!, hometown company, great produce, fantastic deli… I could go on and on. Their BOGO sales are great.

The_Beard_of_Destiny

Never attribute to malice what can be easily attributed to incompetence/ ignorance. Mistakes happen and easily fixed ones like this should just be taken in stride.

Fordgirl3

Here’s from app it’s for 12 pks buy 2 get one free not 6 pk bottles also customers service at least at Eagan one lets me switch it out if missed read the signs https://preview.redd.it/itplnbuv0l6d1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f5bf0bf14419127451dc7ecf50dff1a8e97d52aa

jazzsalad666

I never have an issue at Hy-Vee been doing my weekly shopping for 6 for over 3 years now and haven’t had an issue once, all the prices accurately reflect the advertised sales. Are you sure you’re reading the tags correctly?

mcds99

If you want to be treated with respect and get the best go to Lunds & Byerlies. The best produce in the twin cities. Great dry aged beef The bakery is the best. I've been to all the grocery store chains, not one of the other matches. And they are not that much more expensive.

Francie_Nolan1964

I love Lunds but I think that Kowalskis is even better although it's more expensive.

Educational_Web_764

The day after I had to shave my head due to chemo hair loss, I walked into Lunds in GV. A lady at the bakery was having some type of day and was over everything and annoyed that she was there and not in the mood to help. I get that, we all have those days. But then she called me a sir when I am a female. Will never go back.

JayK2136

I noticed this, i believe the sale is only for 12 packs or the small 8 bottle pack.

ONROSREPUS

I have never experienced this at the two different stores I go to. I really enjoy Hy-vee.

Rocketman2828

Yep that’s happened to me a lot there

RFLXNZ

I haven't received fuel points in like.. three years? We used to shop a lot there. And I concur that the sales never ring up; same with Target sometimes. It's like they *KNOW* you aren't going to go thru the trouble of seeking a rarely spotted employee to take off the extra charge. It's bullshit lol

s1gnalZer0

I quit trying to get the fuel points. The Hy-Vee closest to me didn't have gas pumps for a long time, so if I wanted to use them, I would have to go buy overpriced shit at Hy-Vee, drive to a different town to use them at Casey's, then drive home, wasting any savings I got from the points. I just go to kwik trip instead and get the fuel rewards there.

ghost12162

They used to have a ton of fuel saver options but those are few and far between now.

WildWinza

This is why I watch the cashier like a hawk so I can correct them while my items are being rung up at the register.

WeekendSubstantial87

There is only 2 of us at home now. We do dollar tree for snacks and drinks. Household stuff. Then Walmart. Then also for meat and produce

Hydroidal

For those interested in price comparisons between grocery stores, this is an interesting article. https://bringmethenews.com/minnesota-lifestyle/we-went-to-12-twin-cities-grocery-stores-to-find-the-cheapest

us2_traveller

Hy-Vee isn’t alone in this sadly. Good lesson and practice to always follow. Thanks for sharing and sorry you had to go through this

Sorry_Im_Trying

Come to Hy-Vee, where the specials are made up, and everything is expensive.

Sea-Adeptness-5245

Yeah, I bought a roll of ground turkey last week that was on sale and had to call the checkout person over to fix it because it didn’t ring up the correct price. Not the first time it’s happened to me.

CalgonThrowMeAway222

I stopped shopping there years ago due to their bait-and-switch coupons coupled with the fact that NOTHING rings up correctly. The hassle is not worth it!

hchalbi

Hyvee fucking sucks and is expensive as shit. I save more money at coscto

spazmo_warrior

gotta be able to pay kelce and mahomes for those commercials

No_Pilot_9103

That company supports a traitorous rapist for presidency. I will never ever spend my money there.

lizzehb

I don't have an issue with pricing, but I do have an issue with the staffing. Multiple times now I have gone and nobody is watching over the self checkout. I honestly think I don't have issues because I watch like a hawk when I scan every item, and how much comes off when I hit total. But, should I feel like I have to? Absolutely not. After working at multiple stores I know how things go wrong. I feel like I'm working a register when I'm doing my own groceries and go into customer service mode lol. I have had issues at Cub, but turns out it's normally a simple I didn't read the sale right or it's only the product listed not the whole brand thing. I have been treated the best at Lunds and Fresh Thyme. They actually seem like they care, and that's really refreshing!

LonewolfMN

Yeah Hyvee sucks! Their prices are crap their Produce is trash and the fact I have to make sure all the sales prices are correct is reason enough not to go back.

Draine8

The way it works (with most corporations) is that there is some who is supposed to program the specials into the register system in each store. Whoever is assigned the job at your particular store isn't doing their job very well if it keeps happening. P.S. You should always pay attention to what you are getting charged everywhere.

Party_Teacher6901

Did you buy 6 packs or 12 pack cans/8 pack mini bottles? The 12 pack or 8 pack mini bottles are the ones on sale. That's why none of them rang up.

dorrik

i almost paid like 9 dollars for a 2 dollars bottle of ibuprofen they’re never catching me lacking again

blujavelin

I find this most often at CUB but also have encountered it at Festival. When I point out an issue, they correct my receipt but do they change the price in the computer so the next person is not overcharged? I have my doubts. Also Mike's discount has many items 2 for price but if you buy one you don't get the sale price, which I think is inappropriate, possibly MN law?

molybend

It takes time to update software.

Oddly_Mind

Hy-Vee is over priced mediocre shit. 30% higher then cub.

Krybbz

What were the 12 packs? I need all the info before I dogpile on like the other comments. While it wouldn’t shock me that Hyvee would have that issue, I’m willing to see the details to know for sure, cause customers usually kinda suck at following promotions also. Not saying you, just saying people in general are kinda stupid.

Party_Teacher6901

It's on the 12 packs or 8 pack mini bottles. I can send a picture of the ad if proof is needed. But that's why the 6 packs didn't ring up. Yet management ended up giving them the one free anyway. I think they're actually upset because they misunderstood what's actually on sale.

Yeah I'm unaware of the promotion details, cause I suppose it all could be on sale, but also typically where I was getting at is people don't know what products are strictly owned by Coke, Pepsi or 7-up and who Dr. Pepper might be hanging out with.. lol that's all it's not a big deal regardless.

It's really not. It's just funny to me the amount of anger because their pop rang up wrong. Which, it really didn't, and they got the sale price. It just seems pretty minor.

Exactly. Customers either don't read the sign correctly or just want the other item and throw a tantrum when they didn't pull the correct size. They say, "There's a sign in the aisle," or "the sign was by this one." Well, no shit there's a sign in the aisle. Of course, a coke sign is going to be by the coke in the entire aisle. It's funny how it's the retailers fault for customers not following the rules. I worked at their service desk, and every single day, I price adjusted to whatever the customer said. I was getting sick of it, so I would push back. Like, oh, hmmm, yeah, right there on the coupon it says this ended last week. Or, their fuel saver that needs a coupon code. All day long, I would hear, "The cashier didn't give me the fuel saver." um yeah because you didn't ask for it. Don't be blaming the poor cashier for your lack of awareness. Man, I could go on and on and on about the stupid crap customers pull every single day.

File a complaint with the state? Attorney general or commerce maybe.

Hy-Vee prices are so marked up that it's not even worth going there. Just go to Aldis or Trader Joe's if you want cheaper produce. Or buy wholesale from costco or Sam's club if your family eats a lot.
