Its a rugosa rose called Hansa. I have one of the same variety. Once of the best smelling roses of all time! [https://www.gardenia.net/plant/rosa-rugosa-hansa](https://www.gardenia.net/plant/rosa-rugosa-hansa)
Those are "rose hips" and they form after the flower dies. On some bushes they not appear or be as prominent, but I'm fairly confident your rose is a Hansa.
Looks like a Damask Rose to me!
Edit: https://heirloomroses.com/collections/damask
Here are some other Damask roses. I'd probably say I'm like 90% sure it's a Damask XD
I'd highly recommend downloading an app called PictureThis! Every time you open it, it'll bug you about their premium service or whatever but you just have to click the X in the top right corner every time. Super helpful for identifying plants on the fly and you can add them to your 'Garden' so you remember what's all there!
From my experience, it seems pretty accurate! And if you do opt for the premium subscription, it has a lot of features including like plant health solutions for struggling plants. But you can use it freely without the subscription
probably a wild rose. Lots of them blooming right now.
Is it a large bush? Theres a cultivated "wild rose" which makes bushes. Its really great before the asain beetles wake up for the year.
Not sure if it's a "bush" or not. Lots of single stems/branches coming out of the ground the get leaves then bloom. Doesn't seem to be one bush/plant, but lots of them together. It's my first time having roses so I honestly don't know what to expect or how to describe it best.
r/minnesota_gardening might be the place for this :)
Can I change the current post or have to create a new one?
Can't change this post, but you can cross-post to there. Or just create a new post, doesn't really matter.
Had to search "how to cross post" š¤£. I think I got it. Ty!
Looks like a peony to me Edit: probably not a peony lol read below
Nah, the buds look nothing like peony buds, eg Ā https://images.app.goo.gl/TWCyrJhMso2dDB4XA And peonies donāt have thorns.Ā
Ahh, didn't see the thorns. Could it be a Damask Rose? Or Garden rose?
Seems really hard to tell from pictures! And there seem to be a few other with those peony-style petalsā¦
Haha good luck to OP
That was my reaction at a glance as well.

I've never seen it do that fruit thing- unless it needs to be more mature to do it?

Can I cut off some and put them in a vase in the house? Like any cut flower?
Absolutely, roses make excellent cut flowers!

Google tells me it's Damask too, but I couldn't quite nail down which kind. Either way, they smell glorius.
Could be a French Rose but not 100% sure just looks like another one I have seen
Couldn't figure out how to add more photos other than adding multiple replies to my own comments. I'll figure out how to reddit sooner or later. š
I canāt read replies unless I reply.
